WinXP machine cannot ping Win7 machine, even though ICMP is enabled

Hi, I have two machines (no internet, only local network via a switch)

XP machine: No no anti-virus, firewall, a locally connected to a netgear switch network card (but no internet). Set the network card with address static ip of 192.168.1.2 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
Machine Win7 Enterprise: enterprise environment, with the card of the antivirus, firewall and network connected to the netgear switch above (no internet). Set the network adapter with a static ip of 192.168.1.3, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 address.
Problem:
1 Win7 machine can ping and see the shared folders on the XP machine. The opposite does not occur. That is to say, Windows XP machine can't ping, or share files on Win7 machine.
(a) on Win7, I changed the firewall settings to activate the ICMPv4 Protocol.
(b) on Win7, I disabled the anti-virus
(c) the network card is showing 'Home' location (against public)
(d) I turned on sharing files etc.
(e) instead of the switch, I have a router and changed from static ip address to DHCP.
Before the Win7 machine, I had a WinXP machine and it wasn't a problem (with the firewall and anti-virus). The Win7 Enterprise creates a problem.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

    New laptop running windows 7 - says it is currently connected to a wireless network that I know works well, as I am also connected on this computer.

    Thanks for your help, but in the end, I downloaded a Norton Removal Tool on another computer, before making the above post.

    Then I loaded on the new laptop, he ran and rebooted. And when the computer is restarted laptop, I got instant access to the internet, so it seems that Norton (which was only on the laptop as a test program and not used) was what was preventing access.

  • Cannot ping virtual machine Windows 7 vm Server 2012 [Server R2 2012]

    Hi all

    I'm not sure that this is a vmware workstation or server 2012 r2 problem, but I would still ask thought.

    I have a 2012 r2 vm server and win 7 vm in a ' host-only: a private network, shared with the host country "network connection.

    I can ping the server vm win7, but cannot ping the ""Server the VM win7 ". "

    But when I point the win7 dns on the server 2012R2 (that has AD and DNS configured) I can join the virtual machine Windows 7 announcement.

    Its totally weird

    Whenever I try to win7 from the ping server, it says "Request Timed Out".

    Does anyone know how can I fix?

    I'm using VMWare Workstation 11

  • Cannot ping the Virtual Machine by host

    Hi all,

    Please help, I use VMWare Workstation 6.5 and I have a physical operating system which is Windows XP SP2, I have a network card, but not connected to a physical switch, the IP address is 192.168.0.1. I installed a Virtual Machine using Microsoft Windows 2003 server as the operating system, promote as domain controller, install the DHCP, DNS service and assign an IP 192.168.0.2, no default gateway.

    My VMnet1 on physical operating system has an IP 192.168.204.1 and VMNet8 has an IP 192.168.126.1.

    The host, I cannot ping the 192.168.0.2 which is the IP address of the Virtual Machine. Even in the Virtual Machine, I can not ping 192.168.0.1 is the IP address of the host. From what I read, the physical and the virtual machine were connected with a virtual switch. Am I wrong?

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot ping my virtual machines!

    Hello

    I have install a machine running Windows 2008 R2 server that has 4 network cards. The server is also my domain controller and dns server.

    NIC 1:

    IP = 192.168.0.27

    Subnet = 255.255.255.0

    Gateway = 192.168.0.10 (IP address of my router)

    DNS = 127.0.0.1

    2 NETWORK CARD:

    People with disabilities

    3 NETWORK ADAPTER:

    IP = 192.168.0.28

    Subnet = 255.255.255.0

    Gateway = 192.168.0.10

    DNS = 127.0.0.1

    NETWORK 4 CARD:

    IP = 192.168.0.25

    Subnet = 255.255.255.0

    Gateway = 192.168.0.10

    DNS = 127.0.0.1

    I installed WM player on the server and created 2 VM, also the two Windows 2008 R2 running.

    I want each of my 3 servers (host + 2 vm) to use a separate NETWORK card, so I used vmnetcfg to create 2 virtual networks.

    VMnet3 is filled to NIC 3

    VMnet4 is filled to NIC 4

    Edit vmx file VM1 saying to use VMnet3

    Have edited the VM2 vmx file to say things to use VMnet4 (see below)

    ethernet0. Present = 'TRUE '.
    ethernet0. ConnectionType = "custom".
    ethernet0.VNET = "VMnet4.
    ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".
    ethernet0.wakeOnPcktRcv = "FALSE".
    ethernet0. AddressType = 'generated '.
    ethernet0.generatedAddress = "00: 0C: 29:5 C: 85:EA."
    ethernet0.generatedAddressOffset = '0 '.

    When I connect to VM1, I see that it has an IP of 192.168.0.29.

    It can connect to the internet and it can ping the host 192.168.0.27, BUT any other computer (including the host) can ping VM1

    Even when I have connection to VM2, I see that it has an IP of 192.168.0.31.

    It can connect to the internet and it can ping the host 192.168.0.27, BUT any other computer (including the host) can ping VM2

    Any ideas where I'm wrong?

    Welcome to the community,

    Did you only allow ICMP in the firewall of the customer. By default, the ping responses are disabled in Windows 2008 R2.

    With regard to your configuration. I suggest you disable TCP/IP on NIC3 and NIC4 and don't leave the active "VMware Bridge Protocol".

  • Cannot ping a virtual machine, except on the host computer.

    I have a host of SuSE, built on a chassis of IBM. It has a link for the failover interface. It has an IP of 10.10.138.196. SM 255.255.255.128. DG 10.10.138.129. I can ping this machine without problem. On that note, I have a virtual machine of SuSE. It has the same mask and gateway with an IP address of 10.10.138.197. It can ping the host (196) and the host can it ping. However, he cannot ping to the gateway by defaut.129. He receives a message Impossible to its own virtual interface. I have installation bridged networking early with no luck.

    I tried to change the DG on the guest a.196. I have installation routes by default, and specific directions to 10.10.138.129 on the host and the guest without success. I talked to a few colleagues and they are not of course either. I need this available, so it can be used for a variety of applications.

    You will not see a virtual NETWORK adapter for bridged interface, only for NAT and the host-only networking. There will be a device/dev/vmnet0, but that is not actually used to fill itself.

    Your problem is that your bridged interface is bound to the wrong card on the host: it must be related to "bond0" not "eth0". You will need to re - run /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl to address which forces all running VMs to be stopped.

  • How many installations allowed on 'machine' even if the hard drive is replaced?

    I recently had to reinstall my Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard on my laptop even when I replaced a bad hard drive. Now, I find I have to replace the hard drive once more (freezing, tech guys think its hit been around too much). I googled a bit and have read that I can install my (student limited, license)? Adobe software on two "machines". What is a machine? If this is the same computer, it is the machine even if I put a new hard drive in it? In other words, I'll be able to install a third time on the same computer if I did so twice on two different hard drives?

    What you need to do is contact the Adobe Support using chat and ask them to reset your activations.  This way, you have a fresh slate of two waiting for you to use.

    The limit of two machines is a continuous limit, not a time limit, meaning when you change machines you can move your license as needed.  Normally you would disable an installation (by selecting help-> Deactivate), but when a machine dies you lose the ability to disable.  Adobe support can take care of this by resetting activations.

  • Computer laptop Windows 7 can see the desktop of Windows XP, but cannot ping or you connect

    I've seen hundreds of threads describing problems similar to mine, but none of the suggested fixes worked in my case so I'm starting a new thread.  I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Edition.  My setup before the new laptop was as follows:

    Cable modem router NetGear WGT624v3---> desktop Windows XP Home Edition SP3--->

    I have set up portable Win 7 with the same name of the Office XP Workgroup.  The username and password are the same on both.  File and printer sharing is enabled on both.  The XP desktop laptop Win 7 in the workgroup in my network places.  It can successfully ping the laptop Win 7.  It can access shared folders on the Win 7 machine with no problems.

    My problem is that the connection seems one-sided.  Laptop Win 7 will usually display the XP desktop in the network when Windows Explorer opens.  It still display the XP desktop in the network map in network and sharing Center.  However, I can't map a network drive on the XP desktop by using the name of computer or IP address.  I can't even ping the XP desktop.  But if I start the Office XP in Safe Mode with networking, the Win 7 laptop can ping and access shared folders on the XP desktop computer.

    I tried to disable the firewall on both machines.  I confirmed that the appropriate ports are open for sharing files on both machines.  Safe mode they suggest the problem lies with Windows XP, but I'm running out of things to try.  And the various solutions I've seen in the Strait of similar positions as urban legends.

    Hi Meghmala,

    Thanks for the great tips.  You got me in the right direction.  After configuring my XP machine for a clean boot I have to ping, see and access shared files on desktop XP from Win 7 laptop.  Then, I have considered the services and startup programs that has been disabled for the clean boot.  I found a Cisco VPN service which I had previously used to fix on my office intranet.  I disabled this service and the corresponding to my next selective startup startup file.  I was still able to connect to the computer to Office XP.  I think that the VPN service was the cause of the problem even though I had no open an active VPN session.  Thanks again for this problem.  I tried to solve this problem for weeks.

  • Once the VPN connection is established, cannot ping or you connect other IP devices

    Try to get a RV016 installed and work so that people can work from home.  You will need to charge customers remote both WIN XP and MAC OS X.

    Have the configured router and works fine with the VPN Linksys client for WIN XP users.  Can connect, ping, mount the shared disks, print to printers to intellectual property, etc.

    Can connect to the router fine with two VPN clients third 3 for Mac: VPN Tracker and IPSecuritas.  However, once the connection is established, cannot ping the VPN LinkSYS router or any other IP address on the LAN Office.  Turn the firewall on or off makes no difference.

    Is there documentation anywhere that describes how the LinksysVPN for Windows Client communicates so these can be replicated in 3rd VPN clients from third parties for the Mac in OS X?

    The connection with IPSecuritas and VPN Tracker is performed using a shared key and a domain name.  It is not a conflict of IP address network between the client and the VPN 192.168.0.0/24 network.

    VPN Tracker and IPSecuritas are able to connect to the routers CISCO easy VPN with no poblem.

    Any ideas on how to get the RV016 to work for non-Windows users?

    We found and fixed the problem, so using VPN Tracker or current IPSecuritas on OS X people have access to the LAN via the RV016 machines. The "remote networks" in the screen BASE in VPN Tracker has been set on the entire subnet: 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 the in the RV016 has been set to the IP of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254 range. Even if the addresses are essentially the same, without specifying the full subnet in the RV016 has allowed the connection to do but prevented the VPN client machine to connect because the RV016 would pass all traffic to the Remote LAN. Change the setting of 'local group' in RV016 settings in the screen "VPN/summary/GroupVPN', 'Local Group Zone' for the subnet 192.168.0.0/24 full solved the problem.
