WIPING MY HARD DRIVE

HOW CAN I WIPE MY COMPUTER CLEAN HARD DRIVE. HE HAS A VIRUS AND I CAN'T GET RID OF IT. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO REBOOT OR WIPE THE HARD DRIVE FOR MY WINDOWS 7 TO WORK PROPERLY.

The best approach for a very infected PC
is a 'Clean Install' you can never be 100% certain that every last bit of the infections have been removed.

That said if you have time and want to see how you can go to eliminate viruses, malware and bots then read on.

Start by reading the following information of the Virus removal:

For me on a PC friends who had more than 60 infections and there is no CD of restoration and the key code has been lost, the article above "Malware Bytes", "AVG Free" and Norton NIS 2010 has been around.

NIS 2010 trial software:

(Note: the trial download Norton NIS requires a credit card, read the terms 'Opt Out' before you start)

AVG Free:

In addition, a second pass using Malware Bytes and NIS seems to have removed all infections.

I have an Acer Aspire one model ZG5, which came with XP home. While still under warranty, the pad has stopped working and would then start is more upward. I sent it in for repair, they wiped the hard drive and fixed my problems. Except, instead of reinstalling XP Home Edition, XP Professional installed. I can't use my computer without first professional activator, which I just can't do it, and I don't have a version of the House that I can install myself. I wouldn't rather to pirate a copy, but I'm not sure how to get a copy of the House, I already bought once and do not feel that I should buy it a second time. How could I go solve this?

Back to whom you have sent your computer for repair and request that they make good (on) copy of Windows back or give you a license key valid for the version that they installed.

  • HP Envy: Surprise by wiping the hard drive

Bit of a dilemma. As many people here seem to have experienced, the hinges on my HP Envy broke and it became difficult to open. Fortunately, I bought the warranty of two years on this issue, but before I change it I would like to wipe the hard drive.

Unfortunately, my computer is too hot, the wipe can be performed (sometimes above 3%) and stops. Is it possible to get of arundel this?

If you start a wipe and it fails, you went far enough to discourage most users access to all data.    There is minimal risk of you data may be retrieved and used for malicious purposes, but if you want to wipe it completely you need to take out the hard drive and connect it to another PC (internally or through external HARD drive dock) to format/wipe, he.

  • White wiping whole hard drive

I have a 5720 to Acer Aspire with Vista Home Premium loaded.  I want TO erase safely the entire hard drive completely and totally blank so destroy all data and partitions (including of course hidden too).  I then want to repartition the hard drive and install Vista Business.  I have already deleted from the HARD drive and installed Windows clean several times.

I have a copy of Microsoft's Vista business and I discovered on my laptop HP yesterday (for which I have no HP drives...), this copy does NOT load the SATA AHCI driver - I discovered this by accident when I activated "State native SATA" in the BIOS and then concluded that Vista business would not be responsible and instead the computer goes through the post OFFICE to a black screen before the Microsoft logo then returned early POST again, and so on, in the round.  Deactivation of the native state SATA in BIOS stopped it and Vista loaded normally.  Oddly enough, a second computer HP (same model) loaded from the same copy of Vista without a hitch and in Device Manager, I saw what appeared to be the evidence of a single AHCI driver loading.  A period of frustration (think what the hell of Tasmania in the Roadrunner cartoons) led me to discover that the first drive is SATA I while the second one was SATA II (using Speccy, the last two 2nd hand buys).  Why Vista interacted with the two differently, I don't know.

Back to the Acer 5720 - Speccy reveals what has a SATA II HARD drive.  I have never had a factory for her records but you made my own now using eRecovery.

If I wipe the HDD well Acer empty, I imagine that the factory reset disc I made does not contain a full installation of any Windows operating system and become so useless for me (I did it as a blanket of security... I felt fine).  If I use the Microsoft disc again I load Vista Business, I fear that the SATA AHCI driver may not load.  He could--because this HDD is SATA II and the loaded HP SATA II as - but it might not.  -I note on a download page also on the Acer website (http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=548) that there is a download for Aspire 5720 SATA.  Is it the AHCI driver I need to load to load Vista professional stage where I am confronted by the screen "unallocated space" (the HARD drive has yet to be formatted) and the bottom, there is a button that says "load driver?

Sorry to be too verbose but I don't want to not end up with a blank HARD disk that does not do anything because the AHCI driver is missing and I can not reinstall Vista Home Premium from disks of factory reset because I destroyed the hidden partition or factory reset disk contains not a full copy of the Home Premium edition.

I would appreciate all the advice of those who did this please - thanks.

I think that is the driver ahci you need

You should try to install vista without driver ahci first, make sure you have in ahci mode in the bios

  • Request for BIOS password after trying to wipe the hard drive?

Hi - I got a new computer and tried to erase the hard drive on my old Toshiba laptop for sale on. It is a Toshiba A-210 and is about three years old.

I put the "settings factory restore disk" and tried to follow the instructions on the CD cover. However, the instructions don't match the options given, I did something where I thought I was wiping the HARD drive. It seemed to go ok, but when I tried to start it again, it loads a black screen type "MS-DOS" asking for a password.

The password only I put up on the computer was for my user profile, and it's not accept that. If I try to go on without the password, the computer turns off.

I tried Googling and it could be a BIOS password, I think, but I've never been one of these. The only suggestions I could find for fixing involved by pressing one of the buttons "F" and move to Windows, but I can't get an answer using the 'F' keys On the Toshiba site it said that I needed to have it fixed by one of their authorized places, but I don't want to spend money on it, because I was trying only to erase the hard drive before trying to sell it on or scrapping it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My hard drive was erased? There is nothing really confidential there, but I like it as clear as possible, I really don't mind if its working, I would consider it breaks to pieces.

    Hello Katy

After reading your thread I don't understand what you've done to lock your computer.
Still is it BIOS password cannot be set by mistake.

When the BIOS password to settle should be written twice before, it will be activated.

What to do now? Is that the BIOS password can be deleted by a combination of keys or something simple. BIOS password is the most important safety feature and must offer the maximum protection of the BIOS.
You can sell your laptop without HARD drive too. On eBay, I saw many laptops that will be offered without HARD drive for data protection reasons. HARD drive can be exchanged for less money and it is not so important hardware component.

In the history I see a problem only: BIOS password. You can offer a little cheaper laptop and the new owner can pay for password removal.

It is not easy to give you the right answer. I just want to be a little more realistic.

  • Satellite C850 - HARD drive are cleared

I plan to do a factory reset on my Satellite c850 - 1 c 9 but rather wiped the hard drive Oops. I think that the product key for windows 8 is embedded in the bios, but how do I get the software to reload windows 8 and the other bits and pieces with which it came?

I imagine that you did not create a recovery (DVD or USB) media and you're the biggest mistake.
Anyway, if you want to have the original OS version agai you must order the original recovery media.

  • How can I erase the drive hard so that I can sell my HP Pavillion/Windows XP/3 GB ram/512 MB hard drive?

I need help wiping my hard drive, so I can sell my computer

    Hello

You can use the process below to completely erase your hard drive, but you must have your game that recovery disks to reinstall the operating system if you want to sell it with XP installed.

Download and install Killdisk on the link below - (this application will write zeros to the entire disk).

    http://software.lsoft.net/KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup.exe of

Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.

    http://download.CNET.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html

Access the application of disc kill you have installed in all programs, open the main folder, then select Bootable Disk creators, then the BACK Bootable CD Creator that will burn the ISO on a blank CD bootable.

During the following process do not worry about all warnings as your recovery DVDs will reformat the HARD drive.

Insert this CD into yout laptop. Close Notepad, and then start again to boot from the CD of Killdisk and follow the instructions on the screen to kill disk.

A brief description of the process here is Killdisk.

Use it to wipe the entire hard drive, Select (80 h) and press f10 (you will also need to type a confirmation and press enter) - ( This will make sure to include all of the partitions , and then start the process - this may take a few hours!).

When the process is complete, remove the CD of Killdisk, insert your first HP recovery disc and restart the computer to start the installation.

    Kind regards

  • Hard drive no good - find replacement

    HP Pavilion P6510f

    Windows 7 64 bit

My computer recently stopped commissioning. I was originally getting a message "BOOTMGR is missing", crossed several customer service representatives, and it was decided that I needed a new hard drive and recovery disks. Initially, I had a hard time with the parts department and failed to find the replacement hard drive (part No. 303487-074). In the meantime I received my drives recovery and just for fun, wiped the hard drive and reinstalled everything that is on the disks. The hard drive has been able to launch several times, but finally just would freeze, so I know that it still does not. I guess my question is what I have to keep looking for that exact part number, or are there equivalents that will work, or even an upgrade that would be better?

Hopefully just an answer here because the support call is always an unpleasant adventure for me.

    Thank you!

All you need is a SATA2 HDD that is at least 750 GB of capacity to replace the original hard drive.

It's really as simple as that. Just go to your local computer store. It will fit in the same place as the original disk was. You can use the same support and screw the old hard disk.

The brand of the drive you buy is not so important. HP usually use SeaGate hard drives, but my preference is Western Digital, Samsung and Fujitsu.

  • I'm trying to recover my documents on a hard drive that has a damaged copy of windows on it.

I'm trying to recover the files on the computer of a friend who crashed some time ago. I can't get windows XP to boot at all, even in safe mode.

When I set the old hard drive to another computer and try to access the folder my documents, it requires user name and password. I enter it and get a permission denied message. How can I access this data?

Can I reinstall windows without wiping the hard drive and then try to take ownership of files? I'm so confused please help someone!

You don't need to reinstall Windows.  Just take possession of the documents folder. Boulder computer Maven

  • Cleared for hard drive Windows repair disc

This question is about my HP ProBook 4530 s under Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently, I wiped the hard drive on my computer to give to a family member, because I recently bought a new. I forgot to create a disk repair on the hard drive of compensation. Windows 7 is pre-installed on my computer when I bought it. I never got the disc to download Windows Me. The message "BootDevice Not Found. Please install an operating system on your hard drive. Hard drive - (3FO). "is displayed during startup. I bought a new drive for refurbished State of WIndows computers. I have the previous Windows product key, which is attached below the computer battery. Have I not all that I have to redo the computer function properly or did I just screw everything up?

Most likely, there is a factory restore copy on disk.

This web page will give you instructions.  The key is F11.  Pressing F11 when you turn on the computer will start the process of factory image recovery.

  • Army of DOD wiping hard drives software

Looking for a military DOD certified disk formatting hard/wiping Softeare, I see a lot of websites for it but that one is for real?

As far as I KNOW, there is no such thing as DoD "certified" disk wiping software.  Currently, the only way to clean up the acceptable magnetic media for the DoD is degaussing--> http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/OP/docs/policy/state/107-009-005_Exhibit_B.pdf?ga=t

Effective immediately, DSS will approve is more crushing for procedures for the disinfection or decommissioning (e.g. communication to lower the level classified information controls) IS storage devices (for example, hard drives) used for classified processing.

I think that some more paranoid 3-letter agencies require the physical destruction of the magnetic media (for example, merge in an oven).

If you only want in the protection of your personal data, Darik Boot and Nuke (among other things), provides several methods, including even the method of "Dod short" should be more than enough.  See, for example, http://users.telenet.be/mydotcom/howto/data/dbantest.htm

    Please help me!

    Hi Carolinelightfoot,

This error message occurs when the system could not read and write data to the registry file. The error indicates a problem with the registry.

    Method 1:

You can run a Checkdisk to see if there are drive errors that can cause this problem.

Check your hard drive for errors

Note: When you run the disk check, there is a chance of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before you run checkdisk.

    Method 2:

You can also try to boot from a full version of Windows Vista installation disc and try to perform a restore of the system to WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment)

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?

    Hope this information is useful.
