Wireless zero configuration service does not properly

OK, here's what I did:

1A started with a fresh install of windows xp pro sp3

2 installed EDIMAX usb wireless adapter

3 downloaded all the critical updates available for the operating system

4 installed several other pieces of hardware, microsoft office, Photoshop, Avast antivirus, etc..

At different points along the way, the restore points were made.

Everything was hunky dory until the very last point to install a HP printer....

On his return from a restart of the system, cannot connect wireless adapter.

The window that lists the wireless connections available indicates that windows cannot configure the connections because some other wireless software apparently resumed its function.

He said that if I wanted to have windows set it up for me, I could restart it from services.msc.  When I arrived, I found the wireless configuration service was set to automatic, however she didn't start.

I then resumed, after started what it remained only for the rest of the session.  When the computer has been restarted, he returned to the same State as before.

I then tried all available system restore points, which could NOT be restored.

I tried to uninstall the faulty printer drivers and software, which also did not fix the problem.

In desperation, tried a Microsoft Fixit applet which is supposed to be a disable half dozen services known to cause this problem, but as far as I could tell, they have never been installed on this machine.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can resstore this system to work properly?

Number 1 (WPS2.0 HW PBC Service) is a service of Edimax associated your Edimax wifi card

Number 2 (Wired AutoConfig) is the built-in Windows service that is used with your wired (Ethernet) network card.  She appeared in XP service pack 3.

Number 3 (Wireless Zero Configuration)
is the integrated service of Windows that configures your wireless adapter.  You can have only one service running to configure your wireless network card: is WZC or Edimax service.

"WPS" stands for "WiFi Protected Setup" and "PBC" is the term of Edimax for "Press the Configuration button."  These two relate to a method of security configuration of wireless networks that has been designed to allow 'users at home who know little of wireless security and may be intimidated by the available security options' to set the security on their wireless networks.  Unfortunately, WPS has found to have security holes (click the link to the Wikipedia article for more details).

In any case you don't need number 1, especially once your network has been configured with appropriate encryption.  As to why install a HP printer might have caused the problem, I can only speculate: is your printer a wireless printer?  If so, he may very well have included the version of HP of WPS... who have somehow damaged the Edimax installation.

  • No wireless networks not found on laptop - the WiFi windows service does not work on this computer

    Hello

I have a laptop model Toshiba P205-56347 running Vista home premium and a lynksis WRT54G V8 router model.  The WLAN light is solid and the internet light flashes on the Linksys.  I have Comcast cable as my ISP.

I've seen reported similar problems.  All of a sudden my wirless acess stopped working, some networks are displayed and I get the message 'windows wireless service does not work on the computer.  I am not able to restart the windows wireless.  I can't connect to the internet on the laptop.  I have a DELL PC and can access the internet here if necessary.

In the network and Discovery Center, I see that network discovery is disabled.  I can't set it to on.

Under system devices, I have the following network cards: Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN and Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS6.0).

Help, please.  I'd appreciate any help.  I need a good starting point for resolution and wouldn't start using suggestions that corrects other issues.  I design financial systems and purchase online, but I'm not a technical person with regard to updates Vista, drivers, etc..

Thank you! After reviewing the responses to similar problems, can anyone suggest if I should try one of the following values: 1. run SCF/scannow at the command prompt I don't know what that's going to fix it and do not want to make the current problem worse. 2. download the driver for the network drivers. If you would be grateful if someone could help me find the driver and download it. 3 reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 since the restoration of Toshiba CD I would appreciate greatly any information. Donna

    Hi blondswede,

You can try running sfc/scannow to see if you have corrupted files. That won't be a further problem on your pc. After that, you want to make sure you have the latest drivers for your laptop, especially drivers of the NIC (network card). Go to the following link to Toshiba for your model and download those:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=SB&OS=&category=&MOID=1757721&RPN=PSPB3U&modelFilter=P205-S6347&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

If you're still having problems, and it has recently emerged as a problem, you can try to restore your system to a point in time before the problem started to use the system restore. Here are the steps to follow:

      1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
      2. In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
      3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
      4. Click Finish.

      The System Restore tool

If the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

  • HP configuration wizard does not detect my wireless network.

    Hello

I have a HP Photosmart C4580 multifunction device for a few years, works as a printer/scanner wireless for the household. In the House, we have an iMac, a Macbook Air and two computers HP laptop.

Last weekend I bought a MacBook Pro in lieu of the iMac and a router Airport Extreme Base Station to replace my ISP provided. Since then, I can't have the printer hooked up again.

All the wireless devices in the House for example iPad, iPhones etc connect the new router without problem so I'm glad that the wireless signal is OK.

I downloaded the latest HP Setup application and it ran with the printer connected by USB to install on the MacBook. However, even if the USB device is detected when I try to configure it to the wireless, the installation software does not detect my wireless network.

    I tried the following: -.

    -Rebooted router

-Reset default printer is turned off, unplug the unit and unplugged the cable, left for 30 seconds then reconnected again.

    -Created a new comments system.

-The router is configured to run g and n network.

-The network names have any unusual characters.

-Tried to enter the name manually.

    USB printing is fine.

Is there something about the installation wizard that can not locate networks?

OK, on the front of the printer, go to wireless menu and restore the default settings.

When you start the HP software to connect the wireless printer, make sure that the USB cable is NOT connected to the printer.  Only connect when the software tells you to do.

Be careful with the comments network, if your computer or printer connect you will not be able to print.

When I try to 'start' Wireless Service, a dialog box appears informing me that "access denied."  How can I fix it?

    Help, please...

Thanks for posting your concern. Let's see if there are programs or applications that blocks the internet connection by performing a clean boot. Please see the instructions under "Windows 7 and Windows Vista" in this link: How to perform a boot in Windows.

We can also check if there are some files corrupt or broken update installed that is blocking the connection by running the file system (CFS) auditor. Please follow the steps below:

    1. press on the Windows key on your keyboard.
2 type cmd, then right click on the result, then choose Run as Administrator.
