With EEPROM 93LC46 SPI communication

Hello great NOR readers,

I tried to contact my 93LC46 via SPI EEPROM device but did not have much success. I use the NI USB-8451 box to interface with him.

The 93LC46 device is active high chip select so I took the example of the 'General SPI write a Script' and changed it a bit.

I plugged 4 wires between my device and the device USB-8451. SDI, SDO, SCLK and CS. pin 16 on 8451 to my SCKL, pin 15 on 8451 to my SDO, pin 14 on 8451 on my SDI and PIN 13 on 8451 to my CS.

The ORG pin on the 93LC46 is pulled down to la to Earth (see electric diagram) is a 128-8 bit organization. The read statement that I am sending is 10bits long so I'll send 2 bytes, a byte at a time.

When I try to run my program and look at the SPI signal on my oscilloscope, I see is my rocking 4 lines their signal once and then nothing. Of course, I'm something wrong, because I can't even see my clock running signal! I am attaching the sheet of my device EEPROM the wiring diagram for it. I've also attached the code that I use.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Hope it makes sense.

Thank you.

Serge

I went out and bought just the EEPROM chip and it turned on and was able to read, write and erase the flash without problem. So my problem lies deeper in the hardware or software of the PCB Assembly...

  • SPI Communication with PIC24HJ256GP210

    Hello

I need make the SPI Communication with hardware PIC24HJ256GP210 in LabVIEW 2010 with NI USB 8451.I want to send 8 bytes data and receive data of 8 bytes of PIC. I'll send data byte-by-byte change the signal of the chip Select (CS). Before you send the data I will send ENQ (mark 3A) to check the status PIC, then after receiving ACK (Acknowledge as A1), I will send the data packet.

    My test procedure indicated below,

    • Setting clock polarity at zero (LOW idle), a second Edge clock Phase) and the clock frequency of 1 MHz to device NI USB-8451

    • 3 sending data (ENQ) and followed meaningless data byte by byte, also change state Chip Select

    • No explicit deadline has provided since the sending of the API takes 20msec to run

    • Receive the acknowledgment of receipt (A1) of the sensor

    • Send DataPacket [Eg: A5, 03, 02, 00, 00, A6, 2 c, DD] byte by byte, also changing chip select signal

    • No explicit delay gave between each byte from API takes 20msec to perform sending

    • Send 8 bytes , which means less data byte-by-byte, and receive byte-by-byte data PEAK

    • Received all of the data of 8 bytes with an incorrect value

If please review my test procedure and give your comments if you have worked with SPI or if you have any input for my query.

    Thanks in advance.

Note: Tie my code with this mail for your reference.

    Kind regards

    Hello O_Proulx,

    Thanks for your reply.

Communication SPI after sending the data we send again meaningless bytes, which equals how many bytes we would like to receive the answer System. So we cannot read the data in the same VI as you mentioned in the code.

My problem has been resolved. Byte meaningless, I need to send the file HEX .beacuse 'AB' has been developed in this way.

    Kind regards

    Nicolas.

Are there other HP file or file windows called scanner of HP who participates in the scan Communication that must be added or tried?

    A short history:

After spending 4 hours and countless computers, printer, router restarts, channel changes etc, on the phone with HP printer support, to solve this problem, I was called back to my firewall provider (Trend Micro) when the product is disables scan works. (Yes, it's the same question that I started.)  As you can imagine made me unhappy...? Since I had already made contact with them for advice on how to configure the product before posting here in the first place and, possibly, appellant assistance from the printer.

The solution was finally trend had me to rename a file in the registry, which, I presume, caused the trend product regenerate a clean version of the file.  As trend firewall exceptions had already been saved, scan over wireless works now! I post the location of the file and registry name, unless you use the identical product etc. to modify your registry database is scary business.

Naturally, because it was just going to be like that, scan network worked, but then the network printer showed offline and I couldn't online despite shooters evil etc.  In the end today I completely uninstalled the product and the resinstalled it and now everything works.  Hard to be too crazy about HP, when, notwithstanding this saga, HP was right to send back me the vendor of the firewall... everyone gets their turn in the barrel of the dysfunction of the technology, and it was mine.

What a striped set incredibly complicated of technologies that we depend on.  Travis, thanks for your help and trying on it.

  • Problems with the simple serial communication.

I followed a tutorial online to start learning basic communication series. The involved tutorial shorting pins 1 and 3 on port 1 Comm and write a simple program (attached). I've edited it a bit, the program to see varied results I get when trying to write and read a simple sentence via a serial port.

Could someone explain what causes the kind of result shown in "Serial Comm example.png"? I think it has to do with timing. Why would be transmitted only the parts of the sentence?

    Thank you

    Sarah

    sarahzig wrote:

The involved tutorial shorting pins 1 and 3 on the Comm 1 port

What should be pins 2 and 3?  On a standard serial port DB-9, pin 2 is the receive and pin 3 is the transmission.

    Now for your code...

    1. move the Serial Port to be before the loop to set it up.  Simply configure the port once.

    2. close the port after the loop.

    3. managing your error after closing.

4 stop your loop on an error or the stop button has been pressed.  You will need a RC in there.

    5. no need to Flush Buffer function.  Remove it.

    6. using the bytes to the Port is a dangerous thing.  It introduced all kinds of race conditions that are interesting.  Instead, say VISA reading to read the number of bytes that you expect to read.

6a. Moreover, don't forget to send a character to end of line at the end of your data and all the number of bytes to read something a lot more than you ever expect read.  The VISA read will stop reading when he a) sees the number of bytes, it was said to read, b) sees the stop character (currently enabled and set to a line break, which is part of the end of line), or c) the time-out occurs.  Whichever comes first.

    7. with 6, the wait is no longer necessary.

  • The PCI-6052e does support I2C or SPI communication?

  • Can what cards I use to develop communication SPI with Labview?

First of all, I'm an intern is currently working on a project that involves communication with an SPI interface. I have absolutely no experience with SPI, but I finally decided to try. I work for about 6 months with labview and understand the function of basis of a large number of its resources.

    The problem:

We want to connect Labview to an evaluation Committee that is connected to the PC via USB (but it can also be adapted to connect through SPI). The evaluation board mainly reads and writes if sign up for issuers that are connected to it by a Module assessment. The program which is already which is the Studio of SmartRF (that works via USB), but as we want to link all the functions in Labview we redevelop a platform to do so. If shortly, we want to make a Studio of SmartRF version in Labview. We want to be able to get all the information that makes the program and others... and all this is possible through SPI.

Here is a link in case you are interested what is SmartRF Studio: SmartRF Studio link

My question is which card do you recommend for what we are trying to accomplish? We are looking for something not very expensive but who fail to meet our requirements.

I think of the NI USB 8451, but please make suggestions.

Thanks a lot in advance and please stay tuned to my many questions coming about how to accomplish this enormous task with no knowledge whatsoever of SPI or how to mix with Labview only one student. I am reading as much as I can find, so all the links will also be very much appreciated. If anyone has any experience with NI USB 8451 with Labview be kind enough to guide me

    Sincerely,

    Gisela

If you have very little experience with LabVIEW and SPI, the 8451 is a good choice. It's expensive, but it's really easy to use and configure.

The Aardvark is also a good choice. There pilots LabVIEW is also easy to use in LabVIEW. The disadvantages is that it doesn't have a lot outside of simply making SPI or I2C - in other words, it doesn't have a lot of GPIO. This can be important when control of multiple SPI devices, because it requires to select them lines individual slave.

Dinah is really more than a product of laboratory, or something that is meant to be placed inside a camera. It is expensive, compared to the other two, but it doesn't have native drivers in LabVIEW. On the contrary, it comes with a DLL you can call from LabVIEW. I wrote a set of LabVIEW drivers for it, but I can't distribute.

There are other products on the market, which some will resemble a device series to your computer. For example, you would use VISA to communicate with the SPI controller, and it would appropriate communication of SPI.

Among the three mentioned here, I would suggest that you go with the neither of the Aardvark, one.

  • Comm of ARMS with SPI

That's what I have created so far.

1 frame to set it up, I've included the specifications on details of SPI Comm below, directly from the user guide on the device.

2nd part: drop the pin down to initiate an SPI Communication. (I found this in another answer on the forum)

3rd part: at the same time reading / and write an 'H' in the = 48 hexadecimal ascii code to the device

4th image: wait at least 50 microseconds.

frame 5: read the response of two bytes

box 6: pin CS Raise at the end of communication

    frame 7: finishing and terminate

My problem lies in the aspects of communication, I can't do two things communicate with each other.  I'm some need help and face delays, any help will be greatly appreciated.  Regarding the conversion of data to numbers can be used, I can handle but I just need to talk.  Help, please

Funny that you should mention the OLED I talked to a couple of application in this stream engineers and I decided to give up the IPS, which I think would be easier and I will rather use UART.  Especially because the OLED and the MicroSD card problem.  So im back to square one, thanks to you two.  I call it solved!

  • Communication Serial Port with PIC

    Dear all.

I am interfacing the labVIEW to an eeprom controller PIC, where I need to input data user to store in a location memory EEPROM, according to my condition that I've done programming the pic and it works very well with hyperterminal, at the same time I need to do with a labVIEW using communication serial port VISA , but when I did I receive a warning in 1073676294 that cannot be ignored, but I am not able to write user data to EEPROM by labview but I can do it to hyperterminal, please someone help me on this.

    Charron a G

I was interfacing to pictures for a while, and the example that you have to build from was the same that I used. First, move the initialization OF THE outside of the loop. No need to re-initialization of the COMM PORT every 750ms.  Inside the code example, there is an expectation of 500ms between WRITING and READING (it is hardcoded for now, you brought it out on the ICON).  So time total is 750ms loop over the 500ms wait (more traffic comms), FYI.

You do not use a return of ramasseherbe (13) or a NEWLINE (10) as a dismissal. You use a SO (14). Unless you're on a triggering a 14 ASCII in the PIC, the PIC will never see the "end of the chain of command" to analyze out. I have attached a good routine of init (IMO) I re - use on all my PIC projects, take a look.

I use compilers Mikroelectronica MikroCPRO and displayed a complete interface of the UART (triggers on a CR (13)) on their site LIBSTOCK if you want to take a look at the side of the PHOTO of my work.
