• WMP11 - using letters in the track number column

  I realize that the name of the column gives a bit average, but I have a few tracks that have numbers of beach named originally by the artist as A1, A2, B2...

  If I name them this way WMP11 removes the letter and displays tracks 1 set and then 2 tracks together, IE in the wrong order.
  Is that from a distance I can get WMP to see the letters?
  I realize that the easy solution would be to rename them but 1,2,3,4,5,6 Hey would love to find an elegant solution

  What operating system is installed on your computer?

  If you have windows 7 installed, it is not possible to uninstall Windows Media Player 12. Windows Media Player 12 comes preinstalled with the operating system. You can not downgrade to Windows Media Player 11 in Windows 7.

  Have Cowon mp3 player & have sucessfully downloaded a lot my CD on it but on about 20 cd, I get a message code c00d1236 of a red cross - I checked that the albums are not protected against copying, removed and re-ripped, can not find all the hidden files, but still can not synchronize on.  I am using WMP11 version - my friend has WMP12 and can synchronize from that, but I do not understand why most of my cd went on using WMP11.  Any suggestions how to get these on my Cowon?  My husband has an iPod and it went on very easily that with WMP11.  Thank you.

• .wma files will not play in WMP11

  Suddenly my music wma files will not play in WMP11. I have tried everything I know and read, nothing helps. So far I tried to convert the MP3 files is not working even in these programs (v3.0 have all Audio Recorder being one of them); I tried to delete the ID3 and all the other codes (HeadStrong ID3Kill v1.4), all what has been clear all my songs the album/song. etc - HUGE mistake! I tried to play in RealPlayer - still will not play wma files only mp3s; removed and reset the codecs - nothing happened. so on and so forth.

  What in the world is happening? I uninstalled my old version of WMP and installed more current. When I went to play the WMA in WMP11, I get an error that it can not play. It does not itself error code number, only this statement in error. I tried to restore my computer to a date and time earlier, he said that he could not change my Media Player to the previous version.

  I have more than 1,000 songs on my computer, I simply can't pull it all back in (for days and days), I copied them on 2 sticks of memory as backup, also HUGE mistake because them copied without albums and song titles.

• Songs from Server 2003 added to the WMP11 library but does not appear or play on remote drives

  Goal is to make the large library of songs on Server 2003 available for play on the Onkyo HT-RC180.

  Using WMP11 on XP SP3 as a mechanism of source.  On the second machine I have Server2003 with collection of songs.  Can add pieces of server to WMP11 library on the XP machine, do appear in the library list and read.  Can also see and play the songs pasted on the source XP machine.  So far so good.

  Have a laptop with Win7 and WMP12.  I grant him access in WMP11 can I access the libraries of the XP machine and play songs I can see from this library using laptop, but only those songs stuck on XP (not those of the server) machine appear on the laptop and can be played there.  Same problem to access the library of machine XP Onkyo HT - RC180.

  Change the permissions on the files on the server to match those of XP machine, including inheritance and the NETWORK SERVICE, does not solve the problem.

  On the XP machine, change the capture of rip to a server folder, and then to rip a CD on the server does not have the ripped files to be seen or played on a remote drive, although they can be seen and read on the XP machine.

  If I turn the tables and use the laptop as the source, but still store files on the server, situation remains unchanged - physically located on the laptop songs are fine but those on the server can not be seen or read on the remote drive.

  Seems to me is not a problem with file permissions.  Seems more like something wrong with the installation of WMP leading to something wrong with the database of WMP - but deletion of database and restart does not help.

  What, exactly, the permissions are on the server to allow playback of the songs on remote drive?

  What is the problem with WMP11 settings on the XP machine?

• WMP11 ' share my media to "box is empty

  Starts to go a little crazy after days of trawling through forums to resolve this - I hope someone can help.

  I installed a Sony Bravia TV with wifi connectivity - it connects to the internet via my router fine.

  I want to share media (music, photos, videos) on my home PC which is running XP (SP3) Media Centre Edition 2002 on television. The home PC is connected to the router.

  In WMP11, I turn on media sharing, but the box where I should see the icon of the Bravia is totally empty. It doesn't even show "of other users of this computer.

  I use the Windows Firewall and the trend (without firewall) titanium - these two turn off doesn't make any difference.

  My wife's cell phone is running VISTA and has a router on the same wifi connectivity. If I go in WMP11 on his computer and turn on media sharing, the icon of the Bravia is there and sharing on TV works fine (except most of the media I want to share is not on his machine...) Sharing on his machine in WMP11 box also shows an icon for "other users of this computer. In 'Network', the Bravia also appears in the visible list of devices, as well as the PC at home.

  On the XP PC, my network places does not show the Bravia - it shows VISTA laptop for my wife.

  What to change on the XP machine to see the Bravia TV?

  I know this question has been asked a lot, mainly by PS3 users, but nothing I read or tried has solved this problem for an invisible TV.

• Black space on WMP11

  Original title: why must everything be so complicated?

  I use windows media player version 11, the bottom is a black space all crossing the path which is not supposed to be there.  No, I know that your first thought is that I don't know what I'm talking about... but this black space is not supposed to be there.  It didn't used to be there, after awhile it just shows upward, in the past, I've deleted and reinstalled WMP11 to solve the problem, but now I use media sharing on my Xbox and I don't know how to set the sharing of multimedia files.  Which translates as meaning that, if I delete and re-install WMP11 to solve this question so I need to contact XBox live and spent an hour on the phone with them to help me setup windows sharing media files again.  I want just the black space that somehow seems to manifest itself in the bottom of the player without having to remove and reinstall media player.  Can anyone help?

  -You get an error message or error code? If Yes, indicate the same.
   
  Try this step and check if that helps:
   
  a. open Windows Media Player 11.
   
  b. go to tools. Click on Options.
   
  c. on the File Types tab, remember that there is a check mark in the box Windows (wav) audio file. Click on apply. Click OK.

  OK, I read the support articles you mentioned and it said that I lose all the multimedia files that use DRM. How to find all of these files to check what I need before this procedure?

  When you have purchased songs from an online music store, these songs could be protected by DRM. To find out if this is the case, you will need to check with the store. You can also view individual songs in WMP, by right-clicking on them, select Properties , then go on the usage rights .

  Also, I received a response of Shekhar S. above. This could also be a way to solve the problem, or it is basically the same thing?

  It's something different and interesting to try. It will no doubt make you lose all your music files, but you will lose all the game account in the library (and possibly star ratings too). Tim Baets

  I just tried to play a cd and found that WMP11 wants to install instead.

  When I reached the end of the installation it tells me "not installed correctly - I want to down load from windows website?

  I just continue to enter the same loop over and over again.

  What can I do to get it to load?

• I need to install WMP11, but the process will not let me post. I am running XP Home which came on our Vaio.

  I am trying to load a library application to acquire books for our new Barnes & Noble Nook and this software won't load unless you have WMP11 installed. I tried everything to load this on our laptop Vaio, but the validation process tells us that our version of XP is not legitimate - ridiculous since it is the same version of XP that we had on the machine because we bought it new from Comp USA in 2004.

  What do we do now?
