  Set a different default printer and set your original as a default printer.

  If you do not have a second printer installed, install the 'generic - text only' default printer and then set your normal printer back to the default value:

  2. Right-click your original printer and then click set as default.
  3. Try printing again.

  I have both Windows 2000 and Microsoft Word that came with my XP. I download articles from two places that relate to the history of blacks. It makes little difference what I download it is a recurring problem. Whenever I bring you Microsoft Word to add to it, is the same thing. I have to go through the entire article and to change the spelling or ignore all every time. Now that my download had reached more than 80 pages it becomes a function very redundant and irritating. Why don't the work remains saved after changing all these glitches? After all, there are only 50,000 words in the provided dictionary and many words are of the older English language. Is there a way to perpetuate my changes?

  An Outlook Express can be used as the default email client to work with the functionality of fusion and MS Word mail merge email?  Looks like he wants to Office Outlook as default client.  If I put the Office Outlook as default e-mail client, what will happen on Outlook Express, it is deleted or can it be flying over to Office Outlook?

• Merge document and merge Word using Excel data does not display the result required in the merged document.

  I have created a merge document and mail merge in word using an excel sheet spread as a data source.  Initially, no sign of £ showed in the document among other formatting problems.  I have (finally) found help explaining that I should use MS Excel via a DDE data sheets - I tried this but it seems to corrupt the data so that the column that contains say '1 names' contains "price data", "address" line contains the data of 'comments', making the e-mail merge nonsense.

  If you use an alternative data source is CBO or something all NFL results (which wasn't shown on the worksheet) appear in the mail merge '0' both are unacceptable.

  Surely I'm not the only person to meet these challenges is the software never tested before being sold where is the help manual, I tried to use the online help but will not accept my product key.  All solutions provide the most basic assistance but my documents are fairly complex something computers should be good.  I lost most of today on this.  Sometimes I think it would be faster to type these longhand things than to use a Microsoft product.

• MIcrosoft Word document opens, has content, but opens blank page

  I am running Word 7 on a Windows Vista-based computer.  I typed a document of 4 pages of search and saved (but not print).  Later, when I "opened", I've got was an empty document.  I tried a lot of things I could think of to fix this, but the best I could do was to open the file in Microsoft Wordpad.  Who produced a document unreadable, but I admit even that was somewhat satisfying!  I gave up after trying a couple of hours.

  It was yesterday.  This morning, I tackled the problem once again, but the computer wouldn't boot.  I ran the routine of repair the computer asked me and got a response that the problem was unknown.  However, the computer did start the next time that I tried and it works perfectly except the Word document.

  I was hoping that somehow this routine of repair had resolved my problem of empty document, but it does not.  Many of hours of research have been lost.  Anyone have any suggestions for me?  (P.S.  I did a full scan and no problems were detected.  Also, I made dozens or even hundreds of Word documents on this computer and never had any problems no matter what.)

  If you get a character 'A' then you not select properly. Keep your finger on the "shift" key while pressing the a button.

  The characters you see are ASCII characters and the only thing I can think is that somehow, the document has become corrupted. If the document has become corrupted, and that the "repair" option is not fix it, then there is not a lot you can do about it, unfortunately. As you say other documents you have created are very well, so one can only assume that the file is damaged.

• I try to run microsoft word from a file on a storage disk.

  I use microsoft outlook 2007 and need to communicate with people who only use microsoft works.  I found microsoft works on my laptop hard drive but do not know how to activate it.  All files in microsoft works are .dll extensions.  Is there an extension that can be added to those recognized by Outlook or do I need to use both systems separately?  Ideas are welcome.

• Word 2007 copy / paste back issues

  I insist on a section to be copied. I paste it into the document. The carriage return moves to the next line. This began about 60 days ago. I've looked everywhere for a solution to this problem. At one point, the carriage return would skip two lines. This problem has been resolved by turning off the computer. The other problem is I pointed out an article and then click on the arrow to the right the slider moves to the next line. (There is plenty of space at the end of the line for more characters).  This only happens when there is more space at the bottom of the page. This happens not when the dough is in another part of the document.

  The problem started after I was playing around with paragraph.
