  • Z400 workstation: Z400 build date

    Hello!!

Try to find the date of manufacture of a workstation Z400 - serial number [personal information]

    Be this June of 2012?

I don't know the Protocol HP...

    Thank you!

    Hello:

Yes, that's right, June of 2012.

To find the date of construction of any HP PC by serial number, you:

Look at the 4th 5th and 6th of the characters as read from left to right.

    They must always be numbers.

Thus, in the specific serial number you posted...

The first "2" corresponds to 2012 (of course, it could be 2002 or 1992, but you know that the Z400 was not even heard at the time, so 2012 is the only possibility).

The second 2 and 5 corresponds to the calendar week in 2012 when the PC was built.

Your PC was built in the 25th week of calendar 2012 (end of June).

  • Workstation Z400: EEC VS. Memory non EEC

I was told I could use the ram non EEC in my system that comes with the UNECE. Is this possible, and are there disadvantages?

    400workstation, welcome to the forum.

Here is the user manual for the HP Z workstation series.  On Page 55, it tells you what memory is compatible with the motherboard.  It seems that only ECC memory is supported.  Here's a good explanation of memory ECC and why it is used.

  • Z400 workstation: Workstation Z400 has quick start?

I read online about some BIOS offer everything including a quick start instead of test during the boot upward. The Z400 offers such a thing as which would speed up boot time a lot.

    Hello

Some computers have a feature POST bypass, but I wouldn't recommend using it.  You can find it in the BIOS if it is available for your PC.

After a death off voltage then launch Manager tasks and look under the start for the last time in BIOS tab. More sophisticated motherboard is more time in BIOS.  Technology memory channel triple and quadruple take longer to initialize.  Using RAID will also slow down the BIOS time.

  • [Solved] Continuous beep T5500 Workstation with high CPU usage.

I have a T5500, and every time that I insist on processors the system starts a continuous and constant beeping noise.

The system still seems to operate normally and the time CPU are also under control, just the annoying noise.

I don't see a continuous sound anywhere in the manual, so I don't know what that means.

It is an old machine and out of warranty so if I can't find the problem, can I just turn off or unplug the speaker making the noise?

    Thank you.

Resolved, I feel like such a fool. Someone helped me to find the problem. I am turning on the PC with a UPS just next door and it doesn't clearly have the juice to power the T5500 anywhere near full charge.

So after the days of troubleshooting, I found it was a simple error of ID10T.

    Thank you.

  • Running Hyper-v in VMware Workstation 8 on CPU Intel Q9300

The host PC uses an Intel Quad Core Q9300.

VMware Workstation 8 is installed inside Windows 7 64 bit.

VMware ESXi runs as a gest without any problem.

I'm unable to configure a virtual machine to run Microsoft Hyper-v.

It seems that the processor supports VT - x, but not of EVT.

Are there opportunities for the Hyper-v host as a guest?

  • Z400 + SSD + AHCI

I have a workstation Z400 (CPU L5639 w/8 GB RAM) with a clean installation of Windows 7 x 64 on a brand new Samsung 840 Pro SSD. While the BIOS shows that RAID + AHCI is enabled and I have even installed the latest Intel driver for the controller, the Samsung reference utility displays the performance to about half of what it must be based on what I've seen of others using this player. It seems to be running in IDE mode for me.

I saw a thread relevant here of someone who works with even a Z420 car and they have solved using the Intel driver rather than the default which installs in W7, but that made no difference in my case.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very happy. I've attached screenshots relevent.

    Thanks in advance.

    Glenn

Integrated SATA port? It is 3G. 270 MB/s is great for the 3G, you get not much higher - and 99.999% of the time that you won't - it is low latency that count, not gross transfer rates.

  • HP Z400, nvidia quadro 4000, main monitor connected on DisplayPort does not work

    Hello

My first (primary) display is connected through an adapter displayport to DVI adapter (HP P/n: 481409-002 HP [email protected]).

Now when I turn on the PC, the monitor gets no signal.

I also wrote a message to HP support, but I don't have an answer.

    Support-ticket-no: #71940913 # and #72360491 #.

Things, I try to solve the problem:

    • another adapter connected --> without success
    • connected to another cable DVI --> without success
    • Monitor connected to the other graphics card DisplayPort --> without success
    • different versions of pilot / installed (certified by HP for Workstation Z400, later Nvidia SolidWorks) --> without success
    • A monitor with display port without adapter plugged into the graphics card display port--> it works
    • Another monitor with DVI adapter and connected to the DisplayPort --> without success
    • Graphics card on the other slot (bottom) inserted PCIe --> without success
    • Monitor isolated more than a minute of the grid --> without success
    • In Windows 7 (Win and P - key key) the advanced value --> without success

    System:

    • HP Z400 workstation
    • nVidia Quadro 4000 (driverversion 311.66)
    • Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

Now I need help from you.

Maybe, we also had such a "phenomenon".

    Thank you!

    Greetings Marco

    Hello

I wanted to just let know you that the problem has been resolved with the support.

They sent a new adapter and it worked.
This is the same adapter as described above.

Could not believe it yet, but I'm glad that it finally works again

  • The CPU is not powerful enough for Oracle database 11g?

The CPU is not powerful enough for Oracle database 11g?

I installed the datatase Oracle 11 g on my host by using the default configuration of oracle yesterday. Today, I find some the alert message: "CPU usage is 86,79%, through attention (80) or critical (95) threshold.» The average value of the CPU usage is 80.85% and I have to wait for more than 10 seconds for opening a page of the EM.
My host is HP workstation xw4200. CPU is 3.4 GHz. No other applications on that host.
I want to know: what is the main reason for the shortage of CPU resources? Because the database Oracle 11g itself is exhausting CPU or because there are a few configuration issues?

    qkc wrote:
1 is it true that most of the CPU is exhausted by the EM control tool?

    It's quite possible.

It is also one of the reasons why we encourage people to drop EM Database Console and switch to EM Grid Control. The burden is then on another server.

    2. why this index has been added in advance by Oracle Corporation? It does not seem that each tool is set up perfectly in advance.

It was probably not required under ideal conditions, in which it has been designed and tested.

Why is your environment not identical to the designed conditions that use Oracle? ;-)

  • Windows 7 OEM Hardware Upgrade policy

If I buy a PC with Windows 7 preinstalled OEM, am I allowed to later:
    1) upgrade the CPU to a faster model with more hearts?
    (2) add an additional processor if my motherboard supports?
    (3) replace the HD that OEM Windows 7 has been installed with a faster HD more recent?

Here are a few likely Corsican action that I might want to take:
    (1) buy a workstation z400 Hewlett Packard 2.4 GHZ Dual Core Xeon W3503 with OEM Windows 7 now and upgrade the processor to a 2.66 GHZ Quad Core Xeon W3520 a few years later, when I have the money.
    (2) purchase a Hewlett Packard with Windows 7 OEM z400 installed on the 160 GB hard drive now, but install Windows 7 OEM on a new hard drive to 500 GB 10 000 rpm when I either money or original 160 GB hard drive crashes.

Only, I thought I should ask now before buying a system with Windows 7 OEM installed because I know that there are certain laws determine what I can and can not update when I use a Microsoft OEM operating system.  I want to get all this directly now to ensure that I don't block me in an obsolete technology.

It's a little tangent to my original question, but Microsoft has just made life easier for us power users!

"If you build a PC for your personal use or to install an additional operating system in a virtual machine, you can now buy software OEM System Builder using the personal use license." -

It's crazy awesome! The personal use license terms are very reasonable and they make it where feed us junkies can start back to Newegg and TigerDirect!

    Thank you, Microsoft.

    You guys Rock!

  • Part number for the serial port in option HP Z420

I am looking for the serial port in option for the HP Workstation Z420, but in a datasheet, it is only mentioned as an optional serial port kit.

What is the number on the right side of the product? The same for the workstation Z400 was PA716A, but it was not compatible with the new workstation model...

I used the same part number, I used to model Z400 and it seems to work well.
    HP code is PA716A.
