  I have a thick provisioned 100GB size I want to reduce to 60 GB. The guest operating system is Windows Server 2008 R2. Does anyone have an experience by reducing the size of the disk with this guest operating system?

  You can use compatible hard drives as you like. I would recommend an ssd instead of a 7200 RPM hard drive in the system. Then a hdd to 500 GB for data. Go to the website of drivers and software HP for laptop and are looking for a maintenance and care guide in the manuals.   I got a new hard drive for my laptop HP G62-225DX with recovery disks. Recovery disks did not work, so I installed Windows of Windows 7 ISO CD.  And it worked. But today, I discovered that my computer shows me that I have only C drive and it's 67Gb. The entire HDD is 320 GB. Where is 253 Go? Perhaps because of these recovery discs? When I start my computer, I have two options to run 'Windows 7' or 'Windows Setup (EMS Enabled)'. This second option is maybe these recovery discs?

  I think you do a right-click on the C:\ partition and select Extend Volume.

• What's wrong is the hard disk (hang)?

  A new HDD Seagate was installed on October 1, when I check and it works very well about to reference, but recently, HDD crashes randomly and speed becomes very slow, please see following related images Benchmark for a detailed description.

  (4) Furthermore, once XP restarts, cookies for hotmail has gone and I need to log in again, and I get a few website with saved password and ask my login too.  Will it be a virus? but I'm currently using Norton 360.

  The hard drive is recognized by the Windows XP installation in the right size.

  You need to format the HARD disk to NTFS.

  I think the error message must be correct to Windows 7 and you must do what tells you the message: immediately back up your data and replace the HARD drive with a new one. In your case I would never save important files on the HARD drive. Too risky to lose important files

  Your laptop is 4 months old and that would mean it s covered by the warranty. Contact your local authorized service provider and ask for a replacement drive. They will exchange it and the service is free. :)

  The manual only tells you different sizes, HP offered from the factory. HP does not document a maximum size of hard disk for each system. SATA has no inherent limit of size as old IDE drives. Some desktop computers have trouble with 3 TB and more large drives ultra high density, but it's not a problem in laptops, where most current HARD drive size is 2 TB. 1 TB is the sweet spot right now in terms of price/capacity.

  Hi there, so I'm trying to create a hard drive or a virtual disk in a Virtual Machine in order to configure the virtual machine as a file server. The data store is a Promise VTrak M610P and I installed the vtrak as a type of VMFS5 5,46 TB of space (4 2 hard disks to each RAID 5). In the virtual machine, I added a hard drive and selected the store data vtrak and tried to set the provisioned to 5.46 TB size and type thick lazy disposition to zero, but I get an error of DiskCapControl with the range values. I changed the size set in service and 4 TB and he accepted the new hard drive. I can't find anything on the actual limit on the creation of hard disk in a virtual computer.

  Here's what I wrote on the link above:

  So it turns out that there seems to be something wrong with vClient when you add a hard disk (virtual disk) to a virtual machine of size greater than 4 TB. Article VMware KB: value of range error message when you add more than 4 TB capacity discs in vSphere Client describes this if you encounter this problem, add the hard drive via vSphere CLI, CLI power or vmkfstools. So this seems to be a known issue on vClient. What I ended up doing was using vClient, creation of hard disk, adding to the virtual machine (size of the hard drive is to 5.45) and when I would get the error message on the DiskCapControl out of reach, I would just click OK and then finalize the creation of the hard drive on the virtual machine. Once the process is complete, I selected the virtual machine and noticed that he indeed added a new HDD size 5.45 TB even if he's complained about it. I pulled to the top of the virtual machine with windows server 2008 R2 installed and was able to create a new disk under windows and set it up as a shared drive on the network. Looks like vClient must be updated by VMware and correct this bug, if it's a bug that I think. Thank you for the help vervoort!

• Something wrong with hard disk resizing

  I'm under 4.1.2 and you just import my Windows 7 Bootcamp machine into a true virtual computer.  I ran out of disk space while trying to install new software in Windows so I stopped and went settings to resize the virtual disk.  While the machine of Bootcamp was 30 GB the setting for the new machine watch as GB 465,76, which is be the size of the Lion partition on the hard drive.  Knowing it's not right and something can happen when importing, I tried shrinking the machine by following the process here.  No dice, my machine stills shows the drive as being 465,76 GB and I can't do the 60 GB I would.  I'm afraid to try anything else without posting everything here first.  Any tips or ideas on what I am doing wrong?

  What you see is the (although IMO the wrong) way that VMware matter partition Boot Camp to a Virtual Machine however based file so that you can not reduce the allocated virtual hard disk size but you can change the size of the virtual partition to increase the space available on the disk by removing the not used OS X in the virtual hard disk partition.

  Under ESX / Setup / storage, you need to remove the data with the wrong block size store (don't forget that you have a backup of your virtual machine).

  So simple, you can choose to add a new data store (link on top-right), you will see free space (the old leaves) and you can choose the size of the block.
