WRT160N wireless computer

Just set up my router.  My computer okay.  went to establish a wireless connection, following the directions that I printed.  Open the laptop, Dell Inspiron - was easily connected to the old DSN router.  Found the router and entered the security password two times following the instructions.  Then it tries to connect.  But he never does.  Finally times out.  Watched encriptación, seems very well on both sides.

Look at the forums, but has not found the next step when the accepted answer fails.

try to manually add your network, try to change the channel of the router wireless, lower security/firewall on your laptop settings... tell me what happened after that you did...

  • WRT160N: Wireless works great, Wired is slow

I replaced my old router from Linksys 8 port with a WRT160N wireless so that my iPhone would have Wi - Fi in the House.  (AT & T network is not great where I live.)

My iPhone yells now, great connectivity.  But my two desktop computers that are connected directly to the router are creepy.  Pages take forever to load, and often don't load graphics.

A friend suggested I hang the wireless on the old router and run at the same time, but I want to get the wireless works fine on its own.

Any suggestions on what I can change to get the router speeds up the performance of the computer cable?

Here is the solution.  I did the downgrade of firmware and everything is working fine.

  • How to change IP address on a wireless computer

Background: lost on the main computer in a home network wireless Internet.  Server finally got us to the top, but now the wireless computer has lost its default IP address, which must match the primary computer.  Because the wireless IP address no longer matches the hand, we can not go on the internet with this computer.  Is it possible to change the IP address on this computer?  If so, is this a job that a novice can handle or we will have to enlist the help of a pro?  Desperation is about to.  Thanks for any help out there.

    Hello

It depends on the configuration of the network.

Each network has its own arrangement and there is no way that we can know your configuration.

Generally in home network, that the computer is set to Auto obtain the IP address of the wireless router.

  • Connect WRT160N wireless to the BEFSR41 wired

    Hello-

I use the router BEFSR41 which is connected to my comcast modem and all PC, printer, computers cell phones work perfectly when you use additional ports.

I want to know if its possible to add a wireless router, WRT160N, across to the top, so I can move and then another room with the laptop.

I play internet games on my desk and do not want to move to the wireless, but use the laptop to other purposes of internet and sometimes need to use it in another room.

I have read the posts here and it seems possible, I want to just make sure I get the correct connections. I have also read the messages that State no, do not.

    Are there easy instructions?

    Thanks for any help,

    CAT

I think that from the beginning that my problem was trying to connect wireless to my desktop PC... and after an hour or so trying to reconfigure the son discovered is not wireless because at the end of the year I had to buy a new network card and wasn't capable wireless.

I thought that since my office was the main link everything had to go through to the 'House' to work wireless connection.

So the first time that I have not found a link on the desktop, we wire the PLACE directly to the computer laptop and charge the WRT software on the laptop. The problem, he had us were always wired to the router BE and this is the page of the Linksys who returned to the top. We try to change the LAN IP address and turned off DHCP, but of course when I am connected to the internet on the desktop, it was not to find the router.

Of course during all this time, I was looking at this site and then went on the Comcast site, it just clicked and after several configurations more lead changes and trying to think about what I wanted to accomplish exactly, and how it "should" work... just went ahead as it was already set up and connected wireless to the BE and he was there.

I also remember that when you reset the modem and the router... it takes 'time '. As at least 5 min, what seemed like 15 minutes at the same time, I tried all of this. My frustration level has not helped knowing that it "can" be done if I just follow the signs.

So overall, my error when trying to set up my office as the main connection for the wireless and don't listen to not when my granddaughter told me that she 'had' upcoming wireless on the laptop.

Thanks for your help and great advice. We have the wireless connected and followed your instructions on securing the router with the network name, encryption WPA2 and AES... and hope never to lose the piece of paper its written on.

  • Linksys Router WRT160N - Wireless does not connect to the cable modem

I installed the Linksys WRT160n router to replace an existing G router. When installed the new wireless router works, but the router does not receive a connection (IP address - look under status) of the cable modem (so no internet). When I reconnect the old router and then connect the new router, I get any internet connection through two routers (so the old dishes router the IP address that accepts the new router).

I have configured the router N new for

"Automatic configuration - DHCP", no need for connection, IP address dynamic, etc (as required by ISP - Timewarner)

I tried to renewal and release IP address by the router N when it is connected directly to the main switch (the switch to connect to the cable modem). In so doing, shouldn't that assign a new IP address to the router?

I am allowed 3 IPs from the cable company (because of the switch) and I use all three with three different internet IP cameras to each address for home security system.

Any suggestions on why the router is not connecting to the internet? Do I need to reboot physically everything on the network, including the cable modem?

If I understand your post, you said that your ISP gives you 3 Internet IP addresses and you have 3 cameras that use one of these Internet IP addresses.  If this is correct, then that leaves no IP Internet address for your WRT160N use - so that would explain why your WRT160N cannot get an Internet connection.

If I misread your post, and you have an Internet IP address available for the WRT160N, you might have a problem with your modem and two WRT160N tries to use the same 192.168.1.x subnet.  To check this, follow these steps:

    (1) Please indicate addresses that use your cameras (IE before you take the test below).  If the addresses do not begin with 192.168, then erase the last half of each address.

    (2) Please indicate your ISP

    (3) Please indicate the make and exact model of your modem (not the WRT160N) number.

    (4) Please do the following test:

Put your entire network.  Disconnect the switch (including cameras) to the modem.  Using an ethernet cable, connect your modem directly to your computer.  (Do not use the WRT160N for this test).  Turn on the modem and the computer.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection, then go ahead with what follows: (even if your Internet connection does not work, include this and move forward.)

Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig/all" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key.   Copy all results in your next post.  To make the copy, highlight the results, and then use the keys copy (Ctrl-c) and paste (Ctrl-v) keys.  If your "IP address" does not begin with 192.168, then for security reasons, delete the latter half of your IP address.

  • WRT160N Wireless connectivity limited or not

Hello. I have a WRT160N router set up on a XP computer with DSL service. Have a Realtek to connect to the network local and Marvell Yukon for the wireless, which presents itself as the connection to the local network 5 in network connections. The Realtek works well but the Marvell Yukon shows "limited or no connectivity" and cannot renew the IP address. Tried to manually key in one IP address, but it runs very slowly (584 sent, received 4) and Network Magic also does not detect connections wireless at all.

Y does it have wireless connection can get a speed much better with the IP address or are there other parameters that need to be adjusted for this? Is it possible to have two connections working or should be just one or the other?

Hello. Yes, the OS is Win XP Pro. For some reason, the wireless network connection properties has a second tab for wireless network. The second tab there arises as advanced.

What finally solved it for me has been assigned an ip address that has worked. Both cards work fine at the same time without any conflict so far. Only using one of them at this point, but it is good to know that the other is works when necessary.

Thanks for your help, if. Really appreciate it.

  • Problem with list of customers after 1.02.11 WRT160N wireless firmware update

I have just updated the firmware on my WRT160N to 1.02.11

When I go to wireless-> Wireless MAC Filter, click list of wireless clients, I get a blank screen for the most part, and then my Internet access to the router no longer works. for example, I can no longer connect to the router via a browser.

The router continues to work for cable customers and wireless, but the router web access does not work.

I need to display the wireless clients because I'm having intermittent problems with my new Ipad to connect.

    Someone saw what is wrong?

You have already updated the firmware of the router.

After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended to reset and reconfigure the router.

Connect computer with the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the router.

Hold down the button for 30 seconds rest.

Release the reset button wait 30 seconds.

    Cycle power to the router.

Open the page of the router and configure your router settings manually.

  • Wireless computer network laptop dv7 sometimes stuck out

    Hello.

So, for a while, I had this problem with my laptop; sometimes without any reason my wireless 'goes out' and my laptop gets all the lag (trolling, mouse sound as well). In fact, the WiFi network is not extinguished, but only the blue light on my laptop turns red. Wlan exchange button the following message (on/wlan Wlan off) but no connection is established and it remains red, stuck like that.

For a long time, I found the only way to solve this problem, to restart the computer. However, sometimes, it did not help until after two resets. Some time ago my brother was using my laptop and as the same problem has happened, he goes to the web settings and Control Panel, a list of all possible connections. Here as an administrator he removed using WiFi connection and then begins again, which fixed the problem. The connection has been made again, and the LAG was gone.

Now, just before this announcement I had the problem once again and found a way of my brother to fix. Since that part, the problem is resolved, but I would like to know what causes this and how can I get rid of him? It's really frustrating when internet turns off randomly and I have a huge lag, so in the middle of something important. I never found anything like this online, searching around with Mr. Google and eventually sign up here to ask.

    Thank you in advance.

    Some information on the laptop:

HP Pavilion DV7 VT362EA #UUW (no idea if that's the correct number ^^)

    Windows 7

    TL; DR

Sometimes the wlan light turns red if the WiFi network has not yet been decided. Loss of connection and get a huge lag. Only difficulty is to reboot or remove wlan to use as an administrator.

Ok. No, it looks like you did it correctly. I have a few other things for you to try so.

1 to update the software Quick Lauch buttons. Restart and test the question. If you still get the same symptom, go to step 2.

    2. reinstall the wireless cardHere is the manual. Wireless (WLAN) card withdrawal begins on page 4-17. Make sure that the antenna wireless caps are broken pointing down when you put it back in. If you still get the same symptom, go to step 3.

    3. reset TCP/IP. Here is a link to the steps. It says XP at the top, but it's just a special note for XP users. Scroll up to the gray heading "I solve the problem" and then in the second below, subsection you will see the steps for Vista /7. Be sure to run as administrator command prompt.

Let me know the results when you get a chance

  • Cannot connect by Satellite A305 Linksys WRT160N wireless

I have a Satellite A305-S6839 with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium that I tried to connect wireless to a Linksys Wireless - N WRT160N router but I am unable to get the service.
I can configure the router and it transmits properly, but for some reason that I can't connect to it. I tried to reboot several times that the manufacturer suggested unplugging the cables, but that did not work. I suspect that there are drivers I need to download for this operation.

    Someone give some advice?

First, visit the Toshiba support site we and install the latest BIOS and Wifi Driver.

Second, try to change the Wifi settings-Wifi card-> properties > Device Manager. Increase power output, select "802. 11 g-only", turn off energy-saving.

  • YOU USE A ROUTER TO MAKE JUST A WIRELESS COMPUTER.

Need to check if my thinking is correct. I have a HP Pavilion dv9740us laptop with wi - fi capabilities.  I want to be able to move home using the computer in various places in my house.  Am I correct that I can't do this by just buying any old router which has capabilities of "N" from my computer laptop wi - fi "N" and plug my cable modem?

Fix.  You would connect your router to your cable modem.  This would then be mobile in your home and access to the internet.  Make sure that you secure (passwords, WEP, etc.) your router.  Otherwise, you would give anyone with free access to wireless access to your router.

  • Motocast wireless computer Sync has stopped working

    Hello

From 15/01/2013, Motocast Wireless sync stopped sync my Razr Maxx to my computer files. It was working fine until recently. I tried to reinstall the application Motocast on my computer (PC with Windows 7) and that has not fixed the problem. Anything else I can try to get wireless sync files (and Yes, in Motocast on the phone to sync enabled).

Verizon pushed the Razr Maxx also just updated yesterday. Still no luck on getting photos to sync with my computer.

Unfortunately, it is not an option to select the files and force them to synchronize manually. I would if I could to at least save my photos. I'll try the USB later for at least to synchronize data.

  • AS Desktop M32CD: Printer-wireless computer

I had the printer (HP Photosmart 6525) working with my new computer (AUSA M32CD) wireless recently, but traveled for 4 days and turn off the computer during this time.  When I got home, I turned on the computer back, checked the router wireless (Netgear 18) was connected to the computer and the printer and tried to print an attachment to an e-mail. When I choose 'print', it only would allow me to save the document to the 'PDF' printer (which I don't have) - it would not allow me to print to the HP Photosmart printer.  When I try to make my default printer HP printer, the system will not let me...  I had just recenmtly add Microsoft Word to this computer - thought which may have something to do with my dilemma - Suggestions?
