WRT300N router with Modem ADSL AM200

Hello

I searched this forum and found a few pieces of answers, but I'm still a little confused...

At the moment, I have a Linksys WRT300N router, connected to the Internet via an ADSL Alcatel Speedtouch Home modem, on an ISDN line.

As I no longer need ISDN, my network operator will be week next "downgrade" my ISDN line back to simple line RTC, that involves to change the separator of a model of ISDN a PSTN (made by the engineer of the operator) and also change the ISDN compatible ADSL modem a PSTN one.

How very happy I am with the Linksys gear I already, I went to a Modem of ADSL Linksys AM200 . On the box, it is mentioned, it can be connected to a PC or a router. However, all the indications in the manual I downloaded (I have not yet opened the box of ) refer to the right connection to a PC, including providing parameters PPPoE, DHCP configurations, etc...

I don't need all that, like everything is already set up to a break-in of my WRT300N router. I'll be able to get the AM200 straight out of the box, simply it exchanges with the Alcatel Modem? Or will I need to configure it in a special way to disable all the stuff that I don't need in the modem (NAT, DHCP, PPPoE configuration,...)?

In addition, I understand that the modem has an IP 192.168.1.1 as standard. I will be able to access its trough of configuration interface of the router, which is 192.168.2.1 as confured?

I found it frustrating that the documentation did not provide some basic information about the connection of the modem to a router!

I'm trying to understand in advance what I'm going to have to do, because once the line swiched to the PSTN, the Alcatel modem won't work any more, and I have no Internet before the new AM200 access, I get up and run...

Any help will be appreciated!

You need to replace your old Modem with the new one, if your ISP is a DSL then you must enter a few basic parameters and you'll be ready to go.

  • router with modem?

    Hello!

I can use some help to configure my linksys EA3500 for my new ISP. My original ISP had a simple modem only had a port of the plugged into the internet port on the linksys router, did not provide for DHCP, none of that. It was just a modem.

The new modem that I got by the new ISP also has complete router features, but I preferred to continue using the linksys for the 5 GHz wifi router. If the installer of the ISP just plugged one of the ethernet ports of the modem to the port of the linksys router and said that I would be good to go.

Intermittent problems started out with dramatic slowdowns and disconnects when I was trying to stream the content or simply use internet on my laptop. At first, I thought the problem with the new modem or your ISP, but the internet was working fine if I connected directly to the new modem via its own wifi. Finally, I came to the conclusion that it was active on both DHCP servers the modem and routers linksys was the origin of the problem, so I put the router linksys in Bridge mode, and things have worked quite well since then. This still confuses me, because I don't think there will be problems with the router modems and functions of router from linksys being lit, until the modem is plugged into the internet port on the linksys router.

Anyway, using the bridge mode on the linksys router means I lost the ability to use functions such as 'prioritization of media. " I would like to put in "automatic configuration - dhcp" mode so I can access this feature, but I need help understanding and preventingt him from apparent problems between the modem and the router. Ideally, I would like to use the wifi modem and wifi router on the same subnet, similar to its operation when the linksys router is in bridge mode, but I don't know how to do this and still have access to the "hierarchy of the media" features on the linksys router.

    Thanks for all advice :-)

@jworkm. What is the model number and the IP address of the new modem/router? Probably a problem of conflict of IP. When you say, "I would like to use the wifi from the modem and the router on the same subnet wifi", do you mean you want the modem and the router to give IP addresses on the same range? If Yes, you can mount cascade the router via LAN to LAN, however, you will need to disable the DHCP on your EA3500. To learn more about cascading routers, click here.

  • RV042 with Modem ADSL installation

We have to implement our DSL modem in Bridge mode to allow static IP of the router be seen on the outside for VPN configuration.  When we configure the modem in this mode, the router does not seem to offer a way to enter the user information and password; the internet connection does not work.   I don't know exactly what happens here... the router should do the login or the modem should it?  When the modem is configured as a bridge, I can connect to the internet via a computer connected directly to the modem (PPPoE) where the computer gives the user and password information.

The router will do PPPoE.  In the configuration of the router tab, change the static to PPPoE.  If you have a static IP service, then use the static IP address instead.  The only available for configuration of VPN tunnel IP address will be assigned by PPPoE, or if you have a static service, he will be the one assigned to you.

  • WRT160N with Modem Zoom ADSL X 6

I hope someone can help.  I struggled my wireless home network with my camera WVC54GCA and new HP AIO wireless printer, dropped from the network.  My PS3 occasionally loses connection.  I am currently using the Zoom X 6 DSL wireless with.  I am wanting to abandon the use of the wireless router internal of the X 6 and go for a WRT160N.

I guess the Zoom X 6 would plug into the Internet port on the back of the Wrt160N.  But now I have two routers to fight on the port forward and which do not.  So, how would I put it so I don't have to worry about a routers transmitting?

My thought process would be to go to the Zoom X 6 bridge and DMZ address Linksys WRT160 gateway.  That should open the Zoom in the world.  Then, I would use the Linksys forwarding tables to manage these ports in need.  As the WVC54GCA who need some open ports.

Am I wrong here?  I know that my signals have abandoned cannot be my setup as my X 6 is not near a source of EMI, I'm on a channel with little activity and my cordless phones are in the range of 5.6 Gig rather than 2.4 Gig.  And I assign IP addresses to each device above the DHCP range.  They all connect very well when I reboot the modem.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can at least establish a road map if I have it all wrong.

    Kind regards

    Scott

Due to lack of support in obtaining this router to forward ports to the Internet when it is used with a router dsl/modem connected to the WAN/INTERNET port, I decided to get this router for a refund.  Now if Linksys would release only their modem/router DSL for the American market, the headaches would cease.

I really think that Linksysneeds to get tech support easier by some of their agents who participate in these forums.

Qwest is wrong. There are a number of manufacturers that make routers wireless with USB ports. This is a new trend.

D - Link makes this one. Unfortunately, it has been abandoned. Linksys makes this one.

Belkin makes one in this video.

  • Encryption advice please WRT160N router/gateway/modem wireless

I would like clarification on security and encryption please.

I have a WRT160N router/gateway/modem wireless with WPA security is enabled.  I have a wired office with LELA installed and a wireless laptop.  A key is required when connecting the laptop but on page properties in LELA, it says "wireless encryption - no ' is this extra encryption in addition to the security theWPA. WH n I try to enable it, LELA asks the password admin but after entering that does nothing (except once again ask!)  What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

That your network is already reached, but him dosent software LELA display you something on your safety. This means that the LELA was not able to properly synchronize with the router and its wireless settings. So in this case, you do not have to worry about this, if you want you can uninstall and reinstall the LELA software on your computer, that might solve the problem. Or of another Complitely uninstall LELA software from your computer.

  • When I try to connect with my wireless laptop will connect only to Local access. If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    VIsta - Local access only

    HI -.
I recently moved.   I use the same router from my old apartment and I had no problem connection in the past.   Since I moved I have a new Time Warner modem (Cisco) and the modem works fine.

The router also works very well I'm able to connect with my iPhone and IPad without any problem.

But when I try to connect with my wireless laptop, it will only connect to Local access.    If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    It's a Dell Studio 15 with Vista.

The computer is able to connect to wifi to other places without any problem, but for some reason that I can't connect home.   I tried to reset the modem and the router several times, but that did not help.   I tried the option repair & diagnose several times but it doesn't work.

I tried to look for other solutions online and tried to disable IPv6, and while it helped some and I was able to connect wireless, the computer ran so slowly that it didn't seem like a good solution.

This has been very frustrating.   Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

Have you tried to change the wireless channel that your router is running at? There may be interference that could prevent the internet connection:

Take a look at step 6 in this article that give more details about it:

I don't know that I see the link between the fact that you can't update the firmware and you are having problems with the configuration of your route on a Mac.

I guess you have looked at the docs of print server?

    Hello

is it possible to access the RDC to two XP systems, with two different port for the DRC, behind a router with a single public IP address?

Please note this ia a small home network without any parameters of the field. I use IP to access DRC.

    You comments are appreciated.

  • Wired router with POE and Gigabit ethernet to run two AC1750 access points?

Hello, I'm looking for a recommendation for a wired router with POE and Gigabit ethernet to connect to both access to ceiling LinkSys AC1750 points internet routing on the WAN to a Virgin Media UK cable connection plug - can someone advise a good solution?

I'm a Home Office / Small Office so user there are several Wired's devices and a mixture of wireless clients. I need at least 8 ethernet outlets. Reliablity and speed performance are important, but not important enough to go overboard on the cost!

    Many thanks to you all.

I recommend a router Linksys (SMB) LRT214\224 and a switch POE LGS Linksys (SMB). This combination will be very fast and stable.

  • WRTP54G (wireless router with phone connection) with Panasonic BL-C30A network camera (WEP only)

    Hello

I would use this wireless router with WEP I can access the wireless camera (camera does only WEP encryption).
The camera should be the only device authorized to connect to this wireless router.
I can devote channel 11, so only use this wireless router
I know that WEP can be cracked but I think maybe I can set up the router for it does not matter, i.e.,.
While the camera is accessible by this particular router

    so my questions are:
    1. can I configure the router so only local outgoing LAN requests http are allowed?
    2. any other suggestions about the configuration of router that prevent access to my network?
(using address filtering (by address mac camera only) MAC is worth, but I guess that the MAC address can be spoofed so not a complete solution)

  • Problems with my 4 port Gigabit Security Router with VPN

OK, I got a wireless router and I have a Web site hosted by 1and1.com and I could connect my fine site. But recently I got the 4 port Gigabit Security Router with VPN and since then I have not been able to connect to it even, I started my own ftp server it always blocks and it will capture everything until she tries to recover the files, then it expires just after a while

What is the model number of your device? If you have a Web server and an FTP server behind the router, you will need to transfer the ports used by the said request. Ports TCP 80 and TCP 21.
