Connection WRT54GL router Netgear modem.

I am trying to connect a TV to the internet using a WRT54GL router and a NETGEAR DG834GT modem. I have configured the router by using the wizard, and I can connect to the router with my i phone or laptop. However the router does not appear in the available on Setup Netgear wireless networks, and it is not connecting to the lan either cable modem. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll do

    Hello

You can try to uninstall and reinstall the network card and check:

    a. click Start and type in Device Manager in the start search and press enter.

    b. expand the network adapters in the Device Manager.

    c. right-click on the device and click on Properties.

    d. click on Driver tab and click on Uninstall drivers and click OK.

    e. restart the computer and check.

We can also refer to the computer or the device manufacturer's Web site and try to install the latest version of the drivers for the network card.

  • E2700 cannot connect directly to the modem, but connects via another wifi router?

I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 that I was very pleased until I had a nest of thermostat. Apparently it's a router not supported and I had to change it. I bought an E2700 since he took charge, but I have a huge dilemma...

If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I don't get an internet connection. I got out and renewed IPs without success...

But if I wired the linksys for the netgear, I get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for installation of 2 routers on top of each other...

any suggestions? I would like to know what kind of information you need.

Basically, I do not understand why he is not able to connect directly to the modem to linksys. Yet, it becomes solid connection wired through another router.

I use Comcast and South FL. it is motorola surfboard modem

    OK, found the solution.

    call 1800COMCAST

go to the problems of the internet, there is an option to send a refresh signal to your modem.

I did, and it started working. I guess that clears the memory and binds to the new MAC address...

After that I did, internet is back. I hope this will be useful to someone. I was ready to return the dang thing.

  • Not able to connect to my netgear router

I have my netgear router for almost 6 months now, and he has never given the satisfaction of a good wireless on the attic of my house. Repeaters wifi did not work, or are expensive for dual band. Now, I have connected my old linksys E3000 router, and everything seems to work. But I can't connect to my netgear router. I can't find via the routerlogin.net, nor using the netgear genius app on my ios device. The network is still there, I can connect trough wifi to internet both 2.5 g and 5 g, comments networks are here but I don't know what IP address uses the netgear (I can't find the linksys)

How can I connect to the netgear?

and of course I can return to the default settings and start all over again, but it is too easy to answer. How is it possible for me to connect to the router, how I am able to find in the current set up?

Based on this, I would say that you set r7000 in ap mode and e3000 also in ap mode. Connect through a data cable in the case of PSI.

  • Atheros 5007 won't stay connected to the Netgear WNR3500 router internal wireless

I just bought a new laptop Compaq CQ60-420us (nw156ua) a week ago. Machine comes with Vista Home Premium and I installed Win7 rc1 64 on another partition.

Initially I could not it remains connected to my router for more than 15 minutes approximately. I just press the wireless button to turn it off and turn it back on. Who would fix it for about 15 minutes.

I called HP support, they tried many things including for me to do a factory restore.  They finally decide to send me a new wireless card. I received the new card yesterday, had it installed and it is essential to do the same thing. Last night, I dug an older linksys wireless router that I have used in the past. Hooked upward and the laptop stays connected to her very well. I had the wpa security enabled on the linksys routers both netgear.

Then, I went to the netgear router and disabled security. It is very well connected. Not sure if wep security will allow him to work. I refuse to use just the wep security. It is easily hackable. And of course I will not let it be secure.

So it seems to be a compatibility issue between my router netgear wrn3500 and the atheros 5007 wireless card security. The router has the latest version of the installed software package.

I guess I'll call HP tonight and see if they can send me a different brand/model wireless card. All my other wireless devices work fine with this netgear router. I don't want to get rid of the cause of netgear, this is a gigabit & Wireless N router.

Does anyone know of any other mini pci express card that works with my laptop? I would get a card N. I thought maybe the intel wifi link 5100 card. Not sure if those who are compatible with HP or not.

    Thank you!

When I called HP back support, they were completely useless. Everything I tried to ask them is if they could just give me a list of wireless pci-express cards that would be compatible with my laptop. They did not understand my problem and could not give me a list. I wanted to the list because I read several times that HP has a 'white list' cards that will work with their motherboards. If you put a card that isn't on the list you will receive a message to remove the card from the bios when you turn on the machine. I checked this by testing the intel 5100 card on my laptop and it gave me this message.

Oh btw, it's MUCH safer these days to update the bios of your computer, it was many years ago. I do all the time and have never had a 'brick' on me. Even safer on a laptop with a battery in good condition. In fact I recommend it as part of your troubleshooting process. That will not fix the problem tho atheros wireless.

However, in the end, I was able to operate pretty well no thanks to HP!

I had to buy another card Atheros tho. It was the 5009 Atheros. And it's a card N I so was able to get with my router N 300mbs speed!

I found it on ebay for about $25 plus delivery charges. Oh and these cards are VERY easy to replace. There is a door on the bottom of the laptop with a captive screw - remove the door, then another screw which holds the card down. 2 drivers who commit on the 2 connectors on the map - the map out on the right.

This card worked very well for me I highly recommend to solve the problem with shit card atheros 5007.

Unfortunately, my laptop was stolen 2 weeks ago! (it was only 2 months old!) Some loser scumbag broke in with me so that I was at work and stole my laptop and my LCD 24 ''!

  • Linksys Router WRT160N - Wireless does not connect to the cable modem

I installed the Linksys WRT160n router to replace an existing G router. When installed the new wireless router works, but the router does not receive a connection (IP address - look under status) of the cable modem (so no internet). When I reconnect the old router and then connect the new router, I get any internet connection through two routers (so the old dishes router the IP address that accepts the new router).

I have configured the router N new for

"Automatic configuration - DHCP", no need for connection, IP address dynamic, etc (as required by ISP - Timewarner)

I tried to renewal and release IP address by the router N when it is connected directly to the main switch (the switch to connect to the cable modem). In so doing, shouldn't that assign a new IP address to the router?

I am allowed 3 IPs from the cable company (because of the switch) and I use all three with three different internet IP cameras to each address for home security system.

Any suggestions on why the router is not connecting to the internet? Do I need to reboot physically everything on the network, including the cable modem?

If I understand your post, you said that your ISP gives you 3 Internet IP addresses and you have 3 cameras that use one of these Internet IP addresses.  If this is correct, then that leaves no IP Internet address for your WRT160N use - so that would explain why your WRT160N cannot get an Internet connection.

If I misread your post, and you have an Internet IP address available for the WRT160N, you might have a problem with your modem and two WRT160N tries to use the same 192.168.1.x subnet.  To check this, follow these steps:

    (1) Please indicate addresses that use your cameras (IE before you take the test below).  If the addresses do not begin with 192.168, then erase the last half of each address.

    (2) Please indicate your ISP

    (3) Please indicate the make and exact model of your modem (not the WRT160N) number.

    (4) Please do the following test:

Put your entire network.  Disconnect the switch (including cameras) to the modem.  Using an ethernet cable, connect your modem directly to your computer.  (Do not use the WRT160N for this test).  Turn on the modem and the computer.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection, then go ahead with what follows: (even if your Internet connection does not work, include this and move forward.)

Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig/all" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key.   Copy all results in your next post.  To make the copy, highlight the results, and then use the keys copy (Ctrl-c) and paste (Ctrl-v) keys.  If your "IP address" does not begin with 192.168, then for security reasons, delete the latter half of your IP address.

  • HP laptop could not connect to the netgear N600 router secure

New laptop HP MAY connect to the Netgear N600 dual band router if NO guarantee is enabled, but it cannot if security is enabled on that either WPA, WPA2, WPA2-PSK regardless.  It can connect too well if wired (of course).

I reloaded the drivers and all the usual remedies but not joy.  Also I tried using a USB WiFi adapter with the same result, unable to connect with security enabled.  All other devices connect very well including 2 Iphones, Tablet android, Apple TV, Apple MacBook pro, printer, etc. then it does seem like a router problem.

Laptop is slightly, around the age of 6 months running Windows 8.  As a temporary workaround I disabled DHCP, security and peripheral isolation enabled 2.4 ghz radio router static address then attributed to the laptop, not a lot of security, but that's all I have.  I moved all devices except a (2.4 ghz only) iphone on the active side of 5 ghz on a different SSID with WPA2.

It seems that the OS has a problem with the hold of encryption in the stack, or maybe it's a hardware problem.  Whatever it is, it works very well with an open WiFi but died completely when any type of security at all turned on, same WEP.  I arrived at the end of my knowledge here and short of a relatively new machine of retirement or try a full reload of the OS (Win 7 X 64 use), I'm stuck.  It is the only system to win 8 I worked (OS nasty if it is).

    Any ideas or suggestions?

I know it's late, but there are probably people searching on the net because of this problem just as if I were stupid. I got a new laptop Windows 8.1 and plugged into my router to set up. Worked without problem. I unplugged the ethernet cable and jumped on the wireless, typed in my network key and hop, connected with no internet access or other useful functions. Long story short, eventually work was by using the automatic connection on the router (the one at the bottom that looks like a radio with 2 waves coming out of it) to connect the first time instead of manually typing the password.

You will need to clear your computer auto-enregistré on the network so that you leave cool to do that. At least, I assume that. My laptop has a dual band wireless card, so I just shot on 5G and serves as my network "expenses. After he successfully connected to that one however, my laptop is now having no problem with the 2.4 G which was faulty in the first place.

Who knows why he can be configured automatically, but don't let you not type the password yourself. In any case, I hope this helps someone!

  • When Photosmart C6380 connects to the router Netgear WNDR3400, internet connection lost.

Using HP Photosmart C6380 wireless connection to a Netgear WNDR3400v2 router.  When the printer is on, all devices of lose the internet connection, but can be crazy.  Network WPA2 authentication. the printer shows WPA authentication configuration page so maybe that's the problem.  How can I keep my internet access while the printer is connected to the network?

FRST, make sure that your router has the latest firmware.

Let's define an IP address static and exeternal DNS of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.
