WRT54G static assignment of IP addresses?

Hello everyone, I have a WRT54G v4 (FW 4.21.1) router wireless and I am trying to configure to assign static IP addresses to my devices.  I have two wired devices, and seven wireless devices and IP addresses are constantly evolving. This is normally no big deal, one of the wired devices is my printer (connected via a cable etherner). The only way I can install this printer to devices is to a standard TCP/IP installation, using the IP address assigned automatically. My question is, can I assign one address of the printer so that I can install it on the rest of devices with an address? Or do I have to assign an address to each machine? And how even statically assign? I know how to connect on the router and am familiar with the integrated navigation page, but I do not see a table of MAC addresses anywhere. I have the latest firmware as well. Thank you in advance for the answers!

The WRT54G does not support a DHCP reservation. You set a static IP address on the printer. I have not heard a network printer on which you cannot set a static IP address...

  • Public static assignment MAC broken?

As far as I know, I'm doing everything correctly, but I can't not statically assign a MAC address for a virtual machine in ESXi 4.0 + vCenter 4.0.0 (no patches on either)

I am trying to assign a MAC address for a virtual machine as 00:50:56:98:37:24.

I have the virtual machine is turned off, I change the NIC settings in the GUI, and I specify the MAC address listed in the box.

I get an error saying "the MAC address you entered is not in the valid range. ' Valid values are between 00:50:56:00:00:00 and 00:50:56:3f: ff: ff.

Now I'm not a math wiz, but I know that the MAC I'm giving him is between. So, what gives? I tried to do the same thing in PowerShell and he complained.

I resorted to directly modify the VMX file and adding:

    ethernet0. AddressType = 'static '.

    ethernet0. Address = "00:50:56:98:37:24".

That works fine, start machine, no errors, and the GUI shows the correct value. So is this a bug in the API? I tried via vCenter and directly connected to the ESX Server, both in vain.

UH... you can double-check your math.  98 is certainly superior to 3F.

  • Cannot assign LAN IP address for EA2700

I recently bought EA2700 wireless. IM planing to use it in my study and not connect to internet. I want to assign the IP addresses below

Address of WAN IP STATIC 10.0.70.163 255.255.255.240

LAN DHCP IP addresses 10.0.70.129 to 10.0.70.158 of 255.255.255.224 subnet mask.

I was able to assign the static WAN IP with no problem, but when I change the address LAN IP of 10.0.70.129 with mask 255.255.255.224 and save, the router restarts and the LAN is configured with the IP - LAN 172.23.207.200 different IP mask 255.255.255.0, which I do not know whence it. I tried this process more than 3 times and every time LAN Ip address changed to the 172... IP address. Finally, I tried to add the default IP address is 192.168.0.1, he worked like charm.

Can someone help me please how to fix this or at least explain to me why this is happening. WAN and LAN IP addresses are in different subnet and router should have no problem with this

    Thank you

What happens, is that you run the firmware of the Wifi chip which has a built in "automatic adjustment IP subnet conflict." This function only checks the first three digits of the IP subnet and don't know the subnet mask. He solving what he thinks is a conflict of IP subnet by changing the LAN subnet on you.

I don't think that the EA2700 can be used for this network configuration. You can try to disable the NAT. Perhaps, which will disable the automatic setting function.

The LRT224\214 can do it (I have to test) or a layer 3 switch (except if you need a firewall SPI).

  • How to assign a DNS address fixed to a single computer

I have pored downloaded (and very good!) Linksys guide several times and probably it's me being dense but I can't follow how to go about booking an address fixed for only one computer on my LAN, it will affect others.

My PSN does not - and nor do I want - to select other that "obtain an IP address automatically" as my WAN connection type.

On the DHCP tab should then turn off the DHCP server?  If I have to do, should I then assign a fixed address individually for each machine on my local network, not only to the one that I want to have a fixed address, but each of the other institutions?  In this case I would have also made it necessary to allocate a "customer rents time" for each of them and - probably - subsequently to refresh it at regular intervals.

Is there a simpler and easier way?  Or am I barking the wrong tree anyway?

Orientation (at the level of "Dummies") would be very appreciated!

You' you absolutely right!  I confused 8 ' to '0',

    I made the correction.

    Thanks again.

  • Receive the error «your computer is not assigned a network address...» "often when I performed a Network Diagnostics

I have problems to connect certain devices to my computer via my wi - fi. I'm usually able to resolve the problem by running Network Diagnostics, but after awhile, I start to have problems of connectivity network again.

Whenever I run the diagnosis in these situations, this error in the observer of events (under DHCP-client)

"Your computer not was not assigned a network address (by the DHCP server) for the network card with network 0x2225D3CC6415. address.  The following error occurred: 0 x 79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the server network address (DHCP). »

I currently have the DHCP Server enabled on my router.

You must perform a full scan of viruses and malware for more security.

As I said, you can try resetting winsock and tcp/ip which can remove the module from the network chain and I hope that allow access.

  • Virtualized ESXi host is not assigned an IP address

My virtualized ESXi host is not assigned an IP address on a DHCP network. I created it on my physical host with a physical NIC.

Both its E1000 vNIC is networked with virtually the same Vswitch as the physical host, I created a second Service Console on this vswitch for the ESXi host virtualized, what I need to change the IP of virtual servers to match the newly created Service Console?

I found a guide on changing the IP address of the vswif on the virtual host, I'm going in the right direction?

If you run ESXi on ESX (i) then you must enable the mode promicuous on the VM host vSwitch portgroup.

  • How to get the IP address Linksys WRT54GS DHCP assigns to a Wi - Fi connection?

To connect the Linksys WRT54GS to a demonstration of Microchip DV102411 WiFi Comm card I need the IP address assigned by DHCP. The Administration WRT54GS log is enabled, but there is no incoming or outgoing network activity. The DV102411 can see the SSID linsys scanning for wireless networks and attached to it but once attached, I need to know the address IP of the DV102411 has been given by the WRT54GS.

You can consult the router DHCP client table.

  • As a router WRT54GS cascading with IP fixed address block

    Hello

I read several threads on the routers in cascade and the Knowledge Base, but none seems to fix my script with a router with fixed IP address block.

My current setup is an ADSL circuit with a block of 8 fixed IP addresses. Of them the first xx.xx.xx.137 is assigned to interface the router, the second xx.xx.xx.138 for the router itself WAN xx.xx.xx.139/140/141/142/143 leaving as usable IP addresses. Connected to the ADSL circuit is that a D-Link DSL-G604T router with NAT disabled to allow IP addresses to be assigned to my web servers and ftp. Of course, DHCP is disabled on the LAN interface.

Unfortunately, the transmitter wireless on this router is defective so I would my Linksys WRT54GS (Firmware v1.50.6) D-Link router cascade so that I can use it (with active DHCP) as a point of access for multiple wireless devices.

This thought through to logically I've named WAN 54GS with one of the xx.xx.xx.140 to static IP address available, a subnet mask 255.255.255.248 and the door entry xx.xx.xx.138. I left the LAN settings like the beach 192.168.1.xxx and DHCP active. I then connected the interface WAN of the 54GS to one of the LAN connections on the D-Link with a straight ethernet cable.

I can connect to the admin 54GS via a direct ethernet connection and wireless interface but not to the internet.

I can ping that is the xx.xx.xx.140 of the interface wan of the 54GS since a laptop computer connected wireless but not the IP address of the gateway of the network xx.xx.xx.138. D-Link router.

Am I missing some other settings in the router. Especially in the routing section advanced? I guess that the device must be set to a router rather than the bridge, but if there are parameters of dynamic routing?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks Brickmonkey,

Just thought I would update this post. I tried from you suggestions, but to no avail. The frustration I did a hard reset of the router D-Link and set it up again from scratch and... Hey presto it now works.

I can only think that there may have been some settings left from when the router has been initially implemented for Nat and I had configured port forwarding. In any case it now works OK then thank you very much for your answer.

  • Configure the router WRT54G with the PUBLIC IP address and use the DHCP protocol for internal computers

    Hello

I have a service online Internet with 5 public IP addresses.

The router and the AP are connected to a switch.

I would like to set up a WRT54G Router with a public IP address and use DHCP (with private ip address) for the computers that will connect to the AP.

That the AP is connected to the switch, it is possible that the other wired computers that are connected to the same switch can get an IP from the DHCP?

    Thanks in advance

In this case, the routing is automatic.

    WRT54G configuration:

    WAN:

    Internet connection: static IP address

    IP address: 180.X. X 170

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.248

    Gateway: 180.x.x.x (Ex: 180.x.x.1)

    DNS: servers your ISP DNS

    LAN:

The IP address of the router: 10.10.10.1

    DHCP range: 10.10.10.100 of-online 10.10.10.200

  • Static assigned using PAT instead of NAT smtp e-mail

All, I see weird things regarding how our smtp gateway transmits data through the Internet. When I do a show xlate, it shows that he uses the comprehensive PAT of our primary ISP. However, I have a static NAT assigned during our second ISP. When emails are sent to external e-mail from us systems, it's show from our smtp gateway as the world PAT assigned on my primary ISP. Is there a specific way, I can look at what happens when the firewall is a NAT on a specific command on the SAA?

    Hello

I think you can see that the routing is what causes what you explain. That is the destination of the connection you describe means that traffic leaving through the primary ISP link that (for your mail server) only has a PAT to the address of the interface of the firewall.

To check this, you can manually check the roads using the 'road sh' command, or you can trace the path a packet would take through the firewall using the command "packet - trace", paying special attention to the last section.

Okay, that means, is not in your server room.

Your computer has several available ethernet network interfaces: eth0, eth0: 0,

    eth0: 1, eth0:2, eth0:3. Which do you want to bridge vmnet0?

Your server has only one physical ethernet interface. But there are multiple ip addresses configured on it. If you want to know, how it works and how it is configured, you can read this page.

You need to reconfigure your network VMware Server 2 to fill the other or several networks. VMware Server documentation is explained on p. 222 and following. In fact, for linux, it is page 229 and includes 'ifconfig' to know what special device (eth0: 0...) what IP address, then run ' vmware - config.pl ' is used to assign the new configuration. But please read the documentation for more details.

  • WRT54GS static dns issue

    Hi friends.

I'm trying to configure a local DNS server to manage domain names local only to the small office for our servers. I have the DNS works correctly (set the local machines and using the dns of your ISP if this is impossible). so I put the ip of the DNS server in the field 'Static DNS 1' of the configuration of the router. 2 other static dns fields are empty.

the problem is that the router always uses the ISP as the primary dns server and my local dns server as secondary. I check this in two places. first of all, if I go to the 'status' tab, DNS 1 shows the ISP server while DNS 2 shows my local DNS server. Then, if I connect to the device wirelessly with a linux machine, the /etc/resolv.conf file contains the IP addresses of name servers in the wrong order.

can someone tell me why the router is disobey my settings?

    Thank you very much.

You have a static IP address provided by your ISP or just static DNS addresses, your router's Internet Connection Type must be set to the static IP address and you should have by default the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and addresses entered DNS... If you entered just the DNS addresses it won't work...
