WRT54GC and Speedtouch 510 modem

Hi all

I bought the wtr54gc a bit backward and tried to connect it to this darn speedtouch 510 modem, but nothing helped.

I can connect to wirlessly for the wrt with no problems and have implemented under PPPOE with the correct credentials. The wrt is configured in Bridge mode.

Now, when I connect the Speedtouch modem to the WAN port on the WRT, the router is not "dial" the internet connection at all, so no Internet; o)

I know that the modem is fine as I can connect the PC directly to him and get an Internet connection.

Now, I've been juggling for a long time and I think there may be a problem to do with the router and the modem running DHCP and the two do not talk to each other. The modem works on 10.0.0.138. The Rotuer uses the standard 192.168.1.1 address.

My question is how to fix this? On which box DHCP must be turned on/off?

Ive read somehwere on the execution of the modem in Bridge mode. This will help?

I can be barking the wrong tree altogether so any help would be appreciated and need detailed help coz that it really starts to bug me! ouchhhhhhhh! (O).

Respect to all.

Your problem is that the SpeedTouch 510 is not a modem is a modem-router and already have your PPPoE connection for you.  You shouldn't try to do two times your PPPoE connection.

There are two solutions:

(a) automatic WRT54GC Connection Type Internet 'DHCP' value or

(b) set the bridge mode SpeedTouch, so converting it to a real modem.  Then do your PPPoE with the WRT54GC connection.

Note that with the option a, let two active DHCP servers and the ethernet port on the SpeedTouch to thread on the Internet on the WRT54GC port.

With option (b), the SpeedTouch DHCP server is automatically disabled.

    Hello!

    Caveat! Not good English :/

I have problem to share VPN.

    Situation similar to this diagram.

Host on the LAN asking DDNS updater for resolv public IP. (End Ping work) (FYI when I implemented DDNS in the RVL200 - his record IP WAN (private) address in the DDNS ). This is why I use software updater of the host.

Passing customer virtual I reserve my 10.10.11.200 IP a.250.

My thought is good? For this solution to work?

Additional that I share in speedtouch (napt) IP 192.168.1.1 and Port 443 (TCP and UDP)

Which is not good in this implementation because do not work?

    Best regards

Like what I see, it seems that the speed Touch unit is a modem and router all in one. If you define a VPN with the RVL200, this router should receive a public IP address form this modem. You may need to ask the ISP to completely fill the modem to make it work.

  • The most convenient airport and Arris CM820 modem drop connection

I have Airport Extreme 6 Gen and a few months back from a 'new' Arris CM820 Time Warner Cable modem. Since then, I did have slowly and dropped connection problems a day - mostly in the evening so that streaming on Apple TV and Roku, and navigation devices on the MacBook Air and iPads at the same time. Each time, I do unplug it, wait 30 seconds and plug back in and it's good for a while. But it happens almost every day. I have been emailing and talking by phone with a representative from Apple support for a few weeks (had a record of the case), then she disappeared on me. I've updated firmware (v 7.7.7). Have also tried using a 5 G network as an alternative - but there is no help. Anyone else having these issues with the 'new' modems THAT TWC sends?

If you have already tested the modem, try to choose a time when you can turn off the AirPort router and connect your Mac directly to the modem for a day or two to try things like that.

Alternatively, you can of course call TWC support and have them check the line and the modem, but you already know that they will say that "things seem good to here" and that "the problem must be another device, like your router. .. even though things worked very well before receiving the 'new' modem.

If the MacBook Air listed in your slogan is the only Mac you have, then you will need a lightning Apple Ethernet adapter to perform this test.   Maid in Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple

If connection problems continue when you have the Mac connected directly to the modem, the modem would then become a strong suspect.  This is possible.  But, it is also possible that the connection remains stable throughout your test... and if it's the result, TWC has strong arguments to say that their service and the modem are working well.

Until then, you really don't know if you have a modem problem, a problem of the airport, or as can sometimes be the case... a modem - router compatibility issue. In such cases, the modem out OK and airport does as well, and each manufacturer blames the other for the problem.

Please post on your 'test' results in the next few days.

  • Slow down the speed of the Internet with TC Gen 5 and Time Warner Modem

I use the 3 TB Gen 5 Time Capsule and Time Warner Cable Modem. Recently, TWC has increased the speed of internet download at 300 Mbps. using TWC speed Test I get about 95 not only when you're using TWC Wi - Fi, but also when my iMac is directly connected to the TC by ethernet. I get almost 300 Mbps when TWC Modem is connected directly to the iMac by ethernet. I'm surprised that the speed of WI - Fi is nearly one-third, but more surprised than speed is also a third when connected by ethernet. I don't understand how the TC and TWC modem work together. My use of TWC rather that TC Wi - Fi Modem Wi - Fi has been recommended by Apple Support when they helped put in place the TC about six months ago. I don't know what I should be waiting. TWC has replaced the cable Modem so that is not the culprit. TWC also said speed of 300 the Modem must be connected directly to ethernet to the computer. There may be a configuration problem or a lack of understanding on my part. To unravel it any help would be appreciated.

Fixed: using the TWC speed Test I get about 95 not only during use of the TC Wi - Fi, but when my iMac is directly connected to the TC by ethernet.

  • Time Capsule and new cable modem

I currently have one Capsule of time hooked to my ATT 2Wire modem/router. I think that the TC is configured in Bridge mode. I'm getting rid of ATT and get an another cable operator to install internet. I'll use an ARRIS modem. What is the process to reinstall the TC to the new modem. Do I have to "reset" the TC to the factory setting, then set the TC as "new". How can I do this? I lose all my Time Machine backups?  Thank you!

What is the model number of the "modem" Arris that will be installed?

We ask... because with good luck..., you will not have to make any changes of the Capsule of time... just plug it in.

With not so good luck..., you will have to just start over and implement from scratch time Capsule.  You will not lose your backups, but it would be nice to avoid the start process all if possible.

  • Satellite U500 - problem with Windows 7 and HSDPA USB modem

    Hello
My wife recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite U500, that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit.

A few days later, I bought a modem high-speed HSDPA USB by Alcatel. The problem started immediately that we plugged the modem, that drivers would not install.
Then I went to the Web of Alcatel site and found the drivers for windows 7 for her. But then we hit another road block since now the drivers are installed and it does not detect the modem, but whenever we try to connect to the internet, screen flickers at the connection for a moment and then disconnects again.

I found cela a lil strange so I tried to connect using my own pc which has a 32-bit Windows 7 and it works fine there.
It is the same for a machine that still had Windows XP. Makes me think its something to do with 64-bit Windows 7 itself. Could someone help please?

    Thank you and best regards.

I don't think that someone here can help you with this problem. You will be very happy if someone on this forum has exactly the same model of laptop including same USB modem.

In my opinion, you have two options: either you can clarify this point with the support of Alcatel (they have enough experience with own products) or with people from the nearest Toshiba service provider service.

Have you tried to test the features with the Win7 32-bit version?

    Hello

    ·         What operating system do you use?

    Step 1:

I suggest you to update the firmware of the router on the manufacturer's Web site and verify that it helps. For more information on how router update contact your router manufacturer's support site.

    Step 2:

Try to assign the static IP address for an Xbox 360 and the laptop and check if it helps.

To assign a static IP address for your laptop:

one) click Start > Control Panel > network and Internet > network and sharing Center and click on change adapter settings.

    (b) select your network adapter. (if you have more than one list) Right-click on the adapter and choose 'Properties' from the list.

    (c) under "this connection uses the following items," click once on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) to select it and then click on the button 'Properties'.

    (d) click the radio button for "use the following IP address:" enter the static IP address, you want to use in the IP address box.

    (e) press "Tab" when you are finished and that the "Subnet mask" value should automatically populate with the correct value.

    (f) Finally, you will need to enter the IP address of your default gateway and the IP addresses of your favorite servers and auxiliary DNS.

    (g) the default gateway is the IP address of your router. The DNS addresses are usually provided to you by your ISP.

    (h) click on 'OK' to save your changes, and then click 'OK' again on the local area network connection properties window. You have now assigned to your computer a static IP address in Windows

To assign a static IP for Xbox:

    (a) turn on the console and press "Guide" on the controller to bring up the quick menu.

    (b) go to the 'Settings' tab, then open "System Settings." The dashboard opens and the 'System settings' menu.

    (c) select 'Network settings' in the menu new. Another list of menu options is displayed. Choose "Configure network." This opens the network configuration menu, where you can set a static IP address. Note your IP address, subnet mask and gateway.

    (d) change your settings 'IP' to 'Manual' instead of 'automatic '. This will allow you to manually select your IP address and other settings. It can also erase your current settings, that's why you need to write.

    (e) change the last three digits of the IP address. Enter the same numbers for the subnet mask and the gateway that you saved in step 3. Press 'B' to exit from the menu and save the changes

In addition, under the tab 'security' on the router, uncheck the option, "filter anonymous Internet requests".

The tab of the router configuration. There is an option 'MTU '. Change it to manual and reduce the size to 1400.

  • WRT54GS2 and Siemens ADSL modem - give up Internet connection

I have a problem with the internet connection. I have a Win98 Office connected directly to a DSL - SIEMENS Speetstream 4100 modem. This connection works well.

I had a (old school, blue and black) WRT54G wireless router connected to it which enabled me to use my laptop Windows XP Home. Is there a problem with the ADSL of SIEMENS modem and the Linksys router plays well together?

Why the new WRT54GS2 loses internet connectivity when a direct connection through modem loses no connectivity and the former was reliable?

    Thanks in advance.

Your ADSL modem is in Bridge mode. He made the PPPoE connection and then transmits the IP addresses, etc. via DHCP on the connected device. Several people seem to have problems with these modems and different routers.

I suggest you to that you reconfigure the ADSL modem in full bridge mode (i.e. the modem really works as a simple modem and does not connect to the internet itself). Full bridge mode, you should be able to configure your router with PPPoE and connect directly to the internet. This should work better.

If the ADSL modem is smart enough it can automatically switch in full bridge mode if you configure the router for PPPoE.

You should see the difference in the DNS servers that got the router. Half-bridge mode modem ADSL seems to assign its own IP 192.168.0.1 as DNS server address. If you connect directly to your ISP, you should see the IP addresses of the DNS servers of your ISP.

  • WRT54GC and Synology DS107

    Hello

I have a Linksys WRT54GC router and a Synology DS107, both on the latest firmware, but somehow the following things do work more (used to work with my DSL router)

    * Download directly from the Synology

Being of a drive for laptop XP Edition mapping windows family

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

    Bram Vermeij

    Hello Bram

Your DSL is connected to the WAN port on your LinkSys Router? Which port is your connected Synology NAS box?

What kind of error do you get when you try to download from the Synology NAS box?

What kind of error you get when you try to map a drive o the XP box?

You know the IP address of the Synology box? If it responds to a ping?

Have you power cycled anything? I suggest all tension, starting with the laptop, then Synology, then router and DSL. Feed their place in reverse, pause for 30 seconds before moving on to the next section.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

  • Problems with ping and 56 k modem about half current speed.

    I have a few questions.

    I've switched & my internal modem says it's 56 k. I know that I won't get a full 56 k, but I'm only running at about 26 k. Why what can I do about it?

Additionally, every time that I ping ALL websight, it always comes back with: request timed out, 0 packets received, 4 lost packets, 4 packets sent, 100% loss. I can't understand it and I hope someone can explain to me why and how to fix it. I'm NOT "computer illiterate"!

    Help, please!  Thank you

    Here's what I'm running:

System: Intel (r) Pentium (r) D CPU 3.00 GHz 2.99 GHz (dual processor);   1.00 GB of RAM, 32-bit operating system.   223 GB int hard drive. & 298 GB ext HDD.

Operating system: Windows Vista Ultimate sp2

Browsers: ie9 and mozilla firefox 4

Modem: PCI Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP

    Hi desandjol,

    1. are you able to ping the loopback adapter (that is to say-ping 127.0.0.1)?

You must contact the ISP to find out why you can't ping websites.

You can also check with the manufacturer of the modem if no firmware update is available. It is available even download and check.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Problems with AirPort Extreme and Qwest Modem/Router.

I have a Qwest ActionTec 1000 DSL VDSL2 gateway and want to disable the functions of router wireless and those through direct AirPort Extreme. I know that in the Modem I have to disable the functions of addressing and turn them in the AirPort Extreme to avoid address conflicts, but what are the settings I need to change in both devices? And what is "A Transparent bridging" on the side of the modem?

But what are the settings I need to change in both devices?

Sorry, we can't help on the settings for the modem/router, because it would be a question of Qwest as to if this is even possible and if so, if Qwest will support this type of installation. Sometimes the ISP lock modem/router settings, and although it seems as if you can change the basic configuration of the unit, you can really.

Yes, it is possible that another user of Qwest has done with the same modem/router you have and an AirPort Extreme... and may know the answer... but the chances of the person who holds this information also to see this post are slightly above zero. But, I guess it's possible.

If the modem/router can be configured to operate only as a simple modem, then the next step would be to get your Mac connected directly to the modem to test the connection in this way. If Qwest is going to help you, they will do it no doubt with your Mac connected directly to the "modem" as well.

Once you know the exact details of the PPPoE authentication to establish a connection, these parameters can be transferred to the AirPort Extreme and removed from your Mac. To do this, you reset the AirPort Extreme back to default and then put settings in place again. The installer should detect the PPPoE connection and then ask for your login information.  After this, the correct settings apply to AirPort Extreme during the installation.  You can still use the same wireless network name and password you used before if you wish, or set up a new network name and password.

PPPoE on the routers of the airport, at least in my experience, was not a reliable way to connect when I tried this in the past, but you don't really know how well... or even if... it will work until try you it. Unless you really want the airport to distribute IP addresses to devices on your network, things would be a lot more simple if you went ahead and used the modem/router "such what" and then let the airport works in Bridge Mode to transfer information in connection with network devices.

When you have the modem/router converted to act as a simple modem and made a successful connection using your Mac connected directly to the "modem", post back and we can help with the configuration of the AirPort Extreme if you need more advice.
