WRVS4400N loss of speed

I have a Gigabit of Cisco WRVS4400N router.  Recently, I upgraded my Internet service to download speed of 50 MB.  When I connect directly to the cable modem and run a speed test, using speedtest.net, I systematically get 59 MB download speed.  When I connect the modem to the router and plug it into one of the 4 ports, the speed is cut in less than half.  The maximum speed is cut to between 23 and 24 MB download speeds.  I tried this wireless as well with the same result.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happen?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Palm Pre - loss of speed dial settings

I use CompanionLink to synchronize between the mine and my pre. Whenever I have sync, some, but not all, of my speed dials get damaged. In particular, my personal record of the goldmine in the Meadow ends with a number of speed dial buttons is not defined. When I change my personal record on the pre and delete a undefined button to, say, my fax number (I never associated a speed dial), some of the speed dials are just down and I have to go their.

The people of CompanionLink support there is a problem with the Pre, but I'm not convinced this is the case.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Looks like some of the contacts are to be overwritten by the new data. Then, when you synchronize synchronization going. There is no way for us to test that the device is not configured to sync but USB out of the box. As a selection test a contact on your Pre, which is to have this behavior. Then change a field such as access to her name on the desktop and the Pre. Ensure that its different data. Say the name of people was Michael on change of field for Mike and on the desktop change for Mikey. Then synchronize and see what happens.

What my colleagues and I think it's the synchronization changes anything. But we do not know how it works. Also if it was a problem pre customers using EAS, and Google would have said this earlier. You have reason to assume that it is their software to the origin of this. Since then, they have developed a way to sync but USB.

  • Diagnose/improve the wireless Airport network

I'm no expert on wifi networks, but try to improve ours.

I have an Airport Extreme, connected to a modem of the Charter down.

Upstairs, in my office, that I have an Airport Express with a printer connected via USB.

I think I Express correctly configured to expand or develop, or whether the network.

My MB Air is sitting on a desk about 7 feet to Express in my office.

If I connect to the Express via Ethernet to the MB Air USB connector, my download speed is about 65 MB/s, download about 4 MB/s and the Ping on 31ms.

If I connect via wifi, download is about 20 Mb/s and the stay of the upload and the same ping.

    Make sense?

    Anything to improve the wifi?

When websites take a long time to react and fill the page, what is the download or ping, or both?

Thanks in advance for all the education on wifi. Enjoy.

    Make sense?

Makes perfect sense.  First, we assume that the Express extends the network by connecting using wireless back to AirPort Extreme, correct?

When you "extend" with only a wireless connection and connect using wireless on your Mac, you will generally lose about half or more the speed on the network.

Why? The wireless should make a "leap" in Airport Extreme for the AirPort Express. He must then make a second "hop" of the AirPort Express using Mac wireless. It will take a lot of overhead or bandwidth.

When your Mac is connected directly to the AirPort Express Terminal, the wireless is only to make a "leap", so find you speed or bandwidth that is lost when the Mac connects to the Express on a second Wireless 'hop '.

You want to improve your network?  Connect terminal AirPort Express to the AirPort Extreme, using a wired Ethernet cable connection.  There is no loss of speed of the signal through the cable... until approximately 325 feet or 100 meters... so the Express receives a signal of full speed... rather than a slower wireless signal... because the wireless signal slows the other he has to travel and also slows down if it encounters obstructions in the signal path... like a wall or a ceiling.

When websites take a long time to react and fill the page, what is the download or ping, or both?

Could be both, but is usually a DNS problem. Try to use the Open DNS servers or the servers of Google to see if things improve. In general, the DNS servers are better than those that use your Internet service provider.

I use above professional mobile phone use for CAD programming as well as for Office applications.
2 GB RAM (standard), I can increase up to 4 GB Kingston (ex aequo) on purchase.
With the 160 GB HARD drive, I had a lot at the beginning of the loss of speed.
So I leave a month later to a switch of OCZ Vertex 120 GB of a second

In the manual, it is up to 120 GB SATA2 SSD in it. However, the 2009 manual. The information is very old. And at that time were not yet 240 GB free for end users of hard drives SSD SATA3.

    > Manually, it is up to 120 GB SATA2 SSD in it. However, the 2009 manual. The information is very old. And at that time were not yet 240 GB free for end users of hard drives SSD SATA3.

The SATA controller is not limited in size, you can use 250 GB, 500 GB or more large hard disks. The same should be possible with SSD drives since the controller is the same.

(> 2) is there any Windows Professional / Ultimate / Business 64 for 7 as this laptop?
    > Original, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I wanted that my memory that expanded up to 8 GB. CAD program running on the 64-bit operating system much better.

Don't know what you mean exactly, but if you want to installed Win 7 64 bit, then you can do without big problems the 64-bit drivers are available on the European driver Toshiba page.

(> 3) is the card graphic and/or welded directly on my cell or can I leave replace it? It is a plug-in card?
The laptop seems to be equipped with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 150 M chip graphic. This is an external chip that is connected/soldered on the motherboard. But even if you can remove this chip, the upgrade is NOT possible.

    (> 4) can I switch to a processor / CPU? What size?
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Generally the CPU upgrade depends on the chipset of the motherboard.
You could upgrade the processor, if the chipset would support the new processor.
There are still questions about BIOS support, but I've read here in the forum that some people have been able to upgrade the new processor.

(> 5) the Mobile UMTS and HSDPA / HSPAU / LTE is capable?
Support for 3G modules appears to support the HSDPA standard

Maybe it is not inserted into the database, but your Tecra S10-183 belongs to the series of PTSB3E that you can search other models belonging to the PTSB3E for details

    Hello

Let's hope my advice will be able to help.
First of all, you can find driver Win 8 on the Toshiba UE driver page.
You must choose the Satellite R830 PT32LE - upgrade of Windows 8 section

Now you need to download and install:
-Value Added Package 1.6.0130.640205 (this is for 64 bit)
    -Driver Toshiba system
    -Toshiba utility function of key

Finally, restart the device and test your function keys

  • Wireless and wired through extreme as an Extender

I have 2 scenarios to connect my laptop:

    1. wireless on my home network, or

2 cable to the extreme that works as an extension of my network.

That it would give me the best speed.

    Thank you!

    1. wireless on my network home

Your best bet if the laptop is located where it can receive a good connection.  An Ethernet connection from the laptop to the airport would be better. And things will depend on whether you have another airport, expansion of the wireless network, because that will reduce the speed on the entire network.

2 cable to the extreme that works as an extension of my network.

Kind of a trick question that you cannot have the intention, since there is a big difference whether the extreme 'extends' using wireless... or... If the extreme "extends" by connecting to the main router using an Ethernet cable.

When you try to "expand" using a wireless connection between two airports, you lose about half of the potential capacity of speed on the entire network. When airports connect together using a wired Ethernet connection, there is no loss of speed.

So, to answer your question... If the extreme which is the extension of the network is wired to the main router... There will be very little difference in speed with the laptop using a wired connection or by using the wireless... assuming that the laptop will be close to the extreme.  The wired connection would be more reliable, however, if you have the choice... Since Wireless is a mix of science half and half voodoo.

  • Four express airport Wireless extends through the other, instead of directly through my airport extreme

    Hello

I have a small question which I hope someone can help me with.

I have an airport extreme that I use as base station, and since I live in a big house, I extended wireless network with four Airport express devices. I put express devices from the airport in mode "expand the network."

The question I have is that two of the expresses correctly connects directly to the Airport extreme, but the two other go via the two expresses first and not directly to the airport extreme base station.

I am worried that I have will lose speed because of this and wondered if I can implement all the features four Airport express way so they all connect directly to the base station and not by the other?

Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

I am worried that I have will lose speed because of this and wondered if I can implement all the features four Airport express way so they all connect directly to the base station and not by the other?

Apple "extend a wireless network" feature works on the strength of the signal, so the ideal situation would be to have AirPort Extreme, located within your home with each Airport Express located approximately the same distance from the AirPort Extreme around the perimeter of the House.

Think of a 4-spoke wheel. AirPort Extreme would be the "hub" in the center of the wheel and located at the end of a ray separated from each AirPort Express Terminal. In this way, each AirPort Express connects directly to the 'hub' and expand properly.

The question I have is that two of the expresses correctly connects directly to the Airport extreme, but the two other go via the two expresses first and not directly to the airport extreme base station.

The two airport expresses which connect to other expresses 'extension' of the network are not all. They 'join' the network... so they could be used for AirPlay or a printer USB remote... but the Express do not 'extends' the network when he "joined".

You will need to experiment with different places until you see all four expresses connect directly to the main AirPort Extreme.

As loss of speed in the network is... whenever you try to extend wireless network, nearly half of the potential speed on the network will be lost in the process. It's just a character of the beast to the extension of a wireless network.

You can avoid the loss of speed in the network by configuring each AirPort Express Terminal to connect to the main router using a wired Ethernet cable connection. There is no loss of speed at all through the connection Ethernet cable up to 300 + feet, so full power is stored on the network when you do it this way.

  • Full-screen slide show script

I try to use AppleScript to control the speed of the slideshow on a G4 with Leopard. I don't have iPhoto.

    The following works well:

    Tell application "Finder".

    activate

Select each file of (choose folder)

    end say

    Tell application "system events".

    key code 49

    Repeat

    5 time

    key code 124

    end Repeat

    end say

I can hit the button manually to get the full screen, but how do I get the script?

Number of messages says to use:

    typo of 'y' using {control down, option down}

but on my Mac, it enters another mode and causes a loss of speed control.

What is the type of pop-up window showing the slides in my script? It doesn't seem to be the window 1. There are 4 buttons and the full screen, one is the last. How can I script it?

    This puts Safari mode full-screen:

/usr/bin/osascript -e 'tell application "Safari"' -e "activate" -e 'tell application "System Events"' -e 'keystroke "f" using {control down, command down}' -e "end tell" -e "end tell"

  • Configuration of memory Lenovo D20, possible empty slots with sizes mixed or unbalanced.

I have a D20, 12x4Go 2 CPUs, 48 GB of memory. I think the upgrade to 12x8Go, or if possible something using a number reduced from 16GB RDIMMS. Is this possible? for example I could install on each CPU (16,16,empty),(4,4,4)? Or do I have to fill each slot on each group of 3? Are there performance problems? I can not find a guide for valid layouts anywhere, so if anyone can point me to which I would be grateful. Thank you.

Personally, I'd go with option that is less expensive. If you add 4 x 16GB to your existing memory is less, then it would be a good option. Install them in the 16th, 16, 4, 4, 4, 4 by the graphic on your access panel. This will give you a total 96GB without any loss of speed. I see no reason to leave empty DIMM_6.

The differences in performance between 12 x 8 GB and the odd option is probably minimal. You may lose only 1 ~ 5% maximum leaving the last empty places. If it is for storage purposes (ie: large CAD assemblies) then you won't see any difference. If you use memory for calculations (CFD, FEA, etc.) while 1 ~ 5% could save a few minutes in your day.

  • Make an express airport only connect to an another AE and not the main Time Capsule.

    Hi all

I have a Time Capsule airport and 2 Airport Express. The Capsule is far and an of the expressed airport is in the middle (call this) 1 and the other far from it, I'm calling this 2. As it is now, the 2nd Airport Express terminal connects to Time Capsule. However, it gives me much lower speed (Interruptions during the game). But if the 2nd Airport Express connects to the AE first, which is the extension of the network of transport CANADA, significantly improves the speed.

I've tried everything. All devices are relatively new (think of the last model). I called the Apple Support, but their solution was to any wire. I asked if the 2nd AE can be configured statically, but they have quoted me their policy, which is not supported and took my info and never called back. I read the posts of the forum, but could not find any relevant information.

Can someone tell me how I can do the 2nd AE connect only to the AE 1 (in the middle) so I can get faster speed for the game device wired to the 2nd AE? Your feedback is much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    B.

When you try to extend using the wireless, there will be a loss of speed associated with the process.

When the two Airport Express connect to Time Capsule, it will be more loss of speed because the 2 devices are connecting and extending.

If the 2nd Airport Express does not connect to... Time Capsule and it connect instead to the 1st AirPort Express... then 2nd Terminal AirPort Express doesn't have to extend the network.  The 2nd Airport Express could be used for AirPlay, or to connect to a remote printer on the USB port, but it cannot 'expand' or 'repeat' in this case the signal of the wireless network.

So you're wrong bing into thinking that the network is the extension more quickly if the 2nd Express connects to the 1st. Your network will behave at the faster speed even if you just turn off the 2nd Express.  It is not at all in any case extending the network, and you don't need.

Here's another way to look at the same thing... using an illustration of the Apple support document for the extension of a network:

IF... you can connect the 1st Terminal AirPort Express at the time using an Ethernet cable Capsule... then... the 2nd Airport Express would extend the signal from the first... but speed would be because you are trying to extend using the wireless.

SO... connect the AirPort Express devices using Ethernet... then you will have maximum coverage at the highest speed... Since there is no loss of signal via the Ethernet cable.

  • Satellite L20 196 how to improve performance

My L20-196 was gradually slower and slower, and now I want to do something to recover from his loss of speed. I regularly use cleaning disk and Defrag via Control Panel and currently shows 72% free space on C: my music and photo files are all stored on a separate hard drive, why so even if slow performance?

I guess it's something to do with the memory or the installation of the OS, but what are the settings that you would recommend, and where and how do I check/make changes?

The processor is a Celeron M 1.50 GHz, and it has 448 MB of RAM.

    Thank you

    Mark

    Hi mate

    The L20 is an oldie.
The CPU 1.50 GHz with 448 MB of RAM is not really good to ensure good performance.
In addition, the operating system may be dirty.

Try to clean the OS using CCleaner. He the freeware tool.
If this is not enough, try to defragment the HARD drive.
New installation of the OS might be an option too.

If you want to upgrade the equipment so you can try to increase the RAM up to 2 GB of RAM (DDR2 (533 MHz) RAM).
I guess it's max as indicated on the page of Toshiba.

  • Need Option to lock signal phone 3 g

I have a model of the retail of bike E 2nd Gen LTE XT1521 (India). Menu mobile network offering telephone me three option i.e. prefer 4G, prefer 3G and prefer 2G.

If I set to prefer the 3G phone can backup to the 2G network, causing loss of speed even if a strong enough 3G network is available. I don't want the emergency telephone to 2G under any circumstances.

Most of the phones not manufactured by Motorola come with an option to block 4 G or lock 3G in order to call for help, but my phone only prefer options but not lock options.

I think motorola should also provide such options. I am currently using the menu hidden to lock it to the 3G, but I think that users should not be subject to these worries.

I ask motorola to consider to give an option to block the signal of 4G or 3G.

I'm sorry that you don't like the way that bike put implement connectivity solution. The forums prohibit hidden menus publication, so I edited your post.

I think that the bike was prioritizing the battery life and connection to a weak signal and burn the battery is less desirable for most, but your comments are appreciated.

  • Wired WRT610N 1Gbits fall to 100 Mbps, after awhile

I start my XP SP2 computer and router wired port 1 (the only wired) show connected green (this average 1Gbits until they fix it) and everything seems fine. After an hour or two I have a message if poster near the time on the network disconnect and then reconnect then disconnect, etc. for abour 7 - 8 times now then it reconnect to 100Mbits (LED is now blue). It is the second time that it is happening now. My computer runs usually 24 hours a day, but I rebooted twice this week. I don't like the loss of speed because I have higher than 100 Mbps but there is a problem here and I think LinkSys should take a look. Network card is an Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller

Well, after a HD crash I installed a fresh copy of the operating system and then entered WindowsUpdate and found that there is a newer driver for the network card.  I guess it was there before, but never really looked and now the new installation of the OS has forced me to look at all available updates.

Since then, the light stays green on the router.  I know blue should be 1Gbits and is a flaw in the current firmware and why LinkSys is not faster to give us that a new firmware for their instruction booklet info will correspond to the reality, is a mystery.  As the firmware that they are testing for months now to solve some disconnect problems.  Never thought Cisco might be THAT slow.

In any case, I wanted to present my conclusions and label this thread resolved so if someone has encountered the same problem they could possibly fnid a solution.

    Number of points:

    1. first of all, the term 'memory' is used to designate the place where the computer contains the program and data, that it is working with at the moment. It is normally a memory (RAM), but which can be extended with the page or swap hard disk file. The word 'memory' is never used to refer to the space on a drive (if it is a hard drive, floppy disk, CD, DVD or thumb drive). Space on a hard disk is normally called "storage" or simply "disk space".

Call for 'memory' disk space is not so wrong that just unconventional. In a sense, the disk space is, of course, memory, but the important thing to realize is that the word is never used in this way, and if you do, you do so at the risk of seriously confuse your audience.

2 reset the computer to factory settings due to performance problems (or almost any other type of problem) is almost always a mistake. In addition to being a lot of work, if you know what you the origin of the problem, you are likely to repeat everything that you have done that has caused the problem and will soon find yourself in the same situation. And if you did it five times, that's apparently what happened to you.

    3. normally a computer does not work more slowly because disk space decreases. There is probably another reason for your loss of speed (malware infection?)

    4. you can not install Windowsu pdates elsewhere than on the drive where Windows is installed: C:.

    5. a 80 GB hard drive is very low these days, and a 19 GB for Windows partition is also low. There are various things you can do to savesome of disk space, but they are all temporary measures, and will soon be in the same situation. The only real solution to your problem is to get a bigger drive. Fortiunately they are very cheap these days; You can buy a 500 GB drive for about US $50.
