WS 7.1.4 - impossible to download VMware Tools/Update

Hello!

Sorry for creating another post on this subject, I see many others have the same problem, but none actually provided what I needed.

When you try to update, it hangs on the connection ()https://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds).

I have improved my vmware installation (download manually), but for some reason any packages msi with the tools got an error during installation and has never been installed, now miss me all VMware Tools.

When I try to visit the following url:

https://softwareupdate.VMware.com/VMW-desktop

I get "File not found", and I tried this on several machines, on the 3 different inet-connections, all the same.

For some reason, I'm able to enumerate:

http://softwareupdate.VMware.com/CDs/VMW-desktop/WS

But when I enter the 7.1.4 - folder, I get "file not found".

So that someone knows the reason for this, or can give me the direct link to all the tools for WS 7.1.4?

I looked everywhere on vmware.com for download stand-alone tools... It could have been so simple

Thanks a bunch!

  • Problem downloading VMware Tools

I am running VMware Workstation Pro 12 (12.1.1 build-3770994) on Windows 7. Whenever I start VMware Workstation and then to start a virtual machine, software updates window opens:

No idea how to solve this problem?

It turns out that the problem was caused by McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention 8 running on the host computer. It is the firewall component, not the component virus protection.

Part of intrusion detection is 'VMware Workstation shielding - file Modification. Probably there's some bad signatures, because he sees any attempt to change the files .iso in VMware Tools as an attack.  This includes:

    • Installation of VMware Launcher, as when VMware is modernized
    • Windows Installer that are managed by the system, for example when VMware tries to download and install new tools
    • User who attempts to remove or rename files

So the tools .iso files are frozen in time: they cannot be changed even by a complete uninstall and reinstallation of VMware Workstation, and still less a version upgrade.

The surprising thing is that a change to a file is blocked by the HIP, which is well beyond what you expect normally to a firewall.  That's why it took me so long to realize it was the root cause.

Work is about to open the HIP interface, and then temporarily disable Host IPS in the IPS policy. While the IPS is disabled you can go forward with VMware Workstation or tools to level, then turn on IPS.

The permanent solution would be to get McAfee to fix the signature HIP. There are release notes that say that this is not the first time the functionality of VMware Workstation armor has had false positives.

    Hey guys,.

I have problems with a Samsung PCoIP device if it refuses to connect to the virtual machine windows 7 since vmware tools has been updated

I know very little about vmware view, when he tries to connect it connects to the server vmware view, swimming pool and looks like it is going to connect, but all I get is a black screen, then turned to the login prompt

The PCoIP device can ping the virtual machine

  • Where to download VMWare Tools

Where can I download the VMWare tools that work with Ubuntu 11.04?

JSYK Ubuntu 11.04 is not a supported load (or host) guest OS in VMware Workstation 6.0.4 and I don't know if the version of VMware Tools in VMware Workstation 7.1.4 will work properly with VMware Workstation 6.0.4 However either first backup the VM or take a snapshot and you can try with the next file.

After downloading, you unzip archive and then run the .exe file that results.  This should extract the linux.iso file in the working directory of VMware Workstation how you should be able to select install VMware Tools normally or if necessary, point the CD/DVD on the linux.iso.

  • Impossible to install VMware Tools in Fusion 2.0.2

Just migrated from Parallels 4 to VMware Fusion 2.0.2 (Build 147997).

Got the merger by download and imported the Parallels 4 VM.

With the help of Windows XP Professional on MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo (OSX 10.5.6).

Whenever I chose the Virtual Machine > install VMware Tools, nothing happens.

Just change the "Cancel installing VMware Tools" menu option.

Anywhere where I can download the file and install in my Windows XP or another option?

    Help, please

When you choose Virtual Machine > install VMware Tools what happens is inserts ISO Image to VMware tools appropriate in the CD/DVD of the merger and Windows if the Auto-Insert Notification does not work then you must manually run the : \setup.exe in Windows Explorer. (Sure would be nice if VMware that would in the help file and it makes absolutely no sense that it is not there in the first place!)

Note: These ISO Images are stored at: "/ Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/isoimages.

If needed you can manually mount the image appropriately, if necessary.

You can use The Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove the VMware Tools MSI and then try to reinstall the VMware Tools.

  • Impossible to install VMware tools in Win 2012 R2 guest

    Hi all

just upgraded merger 7.0.1 for 7.1.0 because I thought that he could solve this problem:

After you have configured the client Win 2012 R2, I try to install vmware tools, choosing the option in the VM menu. But I always get the message "not available for this customer to vmware tools" (hope translation is exactly the same of my installation of German fusion...).

Only the seams Win 2012 R2 to be affected. Linux, OS X, Win XP/7 works fine.

    Any idea?

    Thank you, david

I met the same problem.   You need to do a manual installation of the vmware tools (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&externalId=1003417).

Done VMware installs it for the different available for download VMware tool.  At the end of the day, it's just a setup.exe, or the platform appropriate installation program that must be run on the client.
