WSUS Offline Update 10.4

Windows 7 32-bit sp1 - Dell Optiplex 745

I WSUS Offline Update 10.4 installed and its working properly.

However, the updates are not showing in the update folder.

First round was set at C:\WSUS

Second round has been set at C:\Users\OwnersPC\Downloads\wsusoffline104

A total of 187 updates have been downloaded.

It is... What is the appropriate destination C:\ path? ... for updates to Setup WSUS automatically installs?

I have to extract download it?

  • WSUS Offline update

I posted this question before, but did not fully understand the updates. I downloaded them Dec 2013 but there are still about 170 updates always there of MS. Correct me if I am wrong, only updates in WSUS files are for the current month and if it is true, where do you want to download the MS set for XP updates. When they no longer support it, I would like to have all updates for XP and the installation software (software update). I know that they would have to be installed in a certain order which I hope that would cover the installation package. I don't know that I'm not not the only future for this.

    Thank you

    Bob

I guess I'm not explaining myself very well, and I apologize. Everything that works on my equipment and BITS works very well, I was looking for more on the road when the support is no longer available for XP. If I had to do a reinstall from the CD, where I go to get all the updates (then in force).

    Thank you

    Bob

    Bob,

April 8 will be the Patch final Tuesday after which support ceases.

What I suggest to you what to do next is to integrate to your CD to install Windows XP with SP3 and all the patches and fixes that have been released. These will be all on your machine.

You will forgive me I hope that if I point you to this thread where I explained how to perform this task. Save me write all over again: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_update/xp-dying-but-not-forgotten/af72ec24-a1b1-41f7-858f-01c5a92e7b82

  • Does WSUS / Windows Update Agent reinstall updates not installed

I looked for an answer to this all morning and probably I am suffering from block of the researcher and cannot choose the right keywords, but I can't find the answer.

In our environment - Server 2003, WSUS 3.0, XP desktop computers - we have finally approved XP SP3 for client machines and had some problems and some a few machines requiring to uninstall SP3.  Is WSUS / Windows Update Agent try to reinstall the service pack again at the next scheduled update (detection as absent but approved), or he knows that he was already installed once and then uninstalled and do not try to install it again?

If this is the first, how can I let SP3 approved for the rest of the Organization and prevent its installation on machines that have yet to be addressed, short of creating a new ORGANIZATIONAL unit for them?

If it is the latter, how can I say get to install at a later date once we have addressed the issues?

  • ColdFusion 10 offline updates

Our development server is not connected to the internet.  We cannot update our production server until we are sure that everything works on the new version.  Where are updates CF10 displayed for updates offline?  The only one I can find for download is the mandatory update CF10.

    You can do the following:

    Machine of internet enabled:

    1. go to http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/xml/updates.xml and save updates.xml to a folder, say, updates. You can use "Save as" in Chrome or View Source in IE to save the file

    2. go to http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/hotfix_005.jar to save the last update jar file in the same folder

    On your development server:

1 copy the updates (with updates.xml and hotfix_005.jar) folder in your webroot (for example, c:\Coldfusion10\cfusion\wwwroot\)

2 edit updates.xml to change "cfhf_downloadlink" to the article "ColdFusion 10 Update 5" point to the location of the updated jar file in your coldfusion webroot (for example, http://[ip]:[port]/updates/hotfix_005.jar) ".

    3. in ColdFusion-> Server Updates administrator-> settings, change local site to point to the updates.xml file (for example, http://[ip]:[port]/updates/updates.xml)

    4. click on "Check for Updates" to get the update to show in "updates available".

5 logout and log return (if necessary)

In case that you want the previous updates (for example, update 4 and earlier versions), download the required update jar file and change the entry of "cfhf_downloadlink" in updates.xml for this update (as described above)

    Hope that helps.

    Hi @geoffrlz

I'm glad to hear that you are able to accept the USB connection as a solution and everything works fine now.

    Good day!

  • Semi-automatic updates of local disk - how?

    Hello!

What I want to do should be fairly simple, but I have not found the solution quite yet. What I want is for a machine target - with no internet or slow internet - to be able to pull updates from a locally attached disk, but also the internet.

At this point, I will say that I don't want to apply updates individually or in a batch. One is laborious, and the other is not selective. Here's how I want the updates to work:

    1. the target machine determines the updates to download / apply. Either he finds this information from the Microsoft Update site or catalog stored locally (wsusscn2.cab) updates.

2 present updates on the local disk are copied and applied.

3 not present updates on the local drive are downloaded as usual from Microsoft Update by using the internet connection of the machine.

    -*-

After some googling I found a script that partially accomplishes my aim here:

    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387290 (v = vs. 85) .aspx

Simply, this analysis the wsusscn2.cab file and lists the updates that the machine will have to. It doesn't download or obtain it from a local disk. It is also a script, which is good, but more work I have to learn Windows scripting.

Another suggested approach running WSUS on a laptop running Windows Server, or even running WSUS on a Windows virtual machine... the two methods seem too complicated for this seemingly simple task. And the two methods require a Windows Server license. Given that this is not intended to be used in the environment domain, but on some PCs to the home user, I'm not like buying Server 2008 ;)

As I said, I'm sure this must have been done already. I know some 3rd party applications this offline update (now called WSUS offline update) t, for example, but don't wish to not use non-free software from unapproved sources. A MS application would be preferable.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

  • UPDATES THE L321X XPS

Hello I bought an xps without the ssd l321x, I bought a new ssd 512 GB installed then order dell support now after the installation of windows, it will not do not windows update everyone here can help please thank you Bo

If Windows 7... theres has had problems with his update of a pure install for quite awhile. Use the WSUS offline update:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/WSUS-offline-update/

If you want to clean install Windows 10 via the free upgrade on the other hand you better mieux faire do it soon preferably through a clean installation, as the update free promotional offer ends today:

  • Unable to get updates of Windows after cleaning installed.

PS This switch to Win7 Professional would help the situation?

I should add that it is a slipstreamed SP1 version. I was able to get IE 11 installed without problem.

Theres been a few problems with Windows Update with Windows 7 clean install for these last months... You can use the WSUS Offline Update Patch Windows 7, after that Windows Update works.

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/WSUS-offline-update/

However since your goal is to make your system a Pro 10 Windows device. You better just download an .iso Windows 10 TH2 and pure install directly with your Windows 7 Ultimate product key:

  • Windows Setup has not finished.

    Hello

I reinstall Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4500 with a Dell Windows XP Pro SP3 recovery disk. I followed all the steps to reinstall. I deleted the old partition and installed chose NTFS quick format. The installation went fairly smooth until I got the Windows Setup screens. It had an error message saying that it could not install some files but installation suite. Then I got an error saying that it could not connect to the internet. After that, everything went find until it restarts. He was about to read the Windows XP welcome video until it froze. All that appeared was a white screen with the Windows logo in the upper left corner with an 'X' on it. So I let it sit for about 45 minutes, and then I turned off the computer and deleted from the drive. From the beginning it upward, I found that it created an administrator account and it lacks many things. Also, I can't connect to the internet.  Here is a list of what is missing:

    • Photos from account.
    • A few wallpapers (Bliss, Azul and all others on the theme nature wallpapers)
    • The internet connection wizard.
    • Windows Media Player
    • Outlook Express
    • Help & support
    • Start menu customization options.
    • Remote assistance.

Most of the drivers installed except a few including Ethernet controller.

What hurts? and how to fix it? Here are a few screenshots that might help.

It is an old system (with an old optical drive) and Windows XP has reached end of life 1 year ago, his insecurity and preferable to use only not etc etc. Assuming that you know this and to install Windows XP in any case.

The first problem you have is the optical drive cannot read all the files on the CD and it ignores certain files, probably the laser in the struggles of optical drive with files from certain angles. If you have a newer PC with an optical drive to best, install ImgBurn (make sure that you opt for a facility advanced opting to not install any unwanted preloaded toolbars...). Create a .iso CD image, and then use ImgBurn to burn this .iso to more than 3 CD image. When the installation files cannot be read on the CD instead of exchange for one of the copies to jump. The file will be in a different location on the CD and it will be able to copy the file.

The second question is you have devices connected to the system which may interfere with the installation of Windows. Its better to attach only keyboard, mouse and monitor. You had a brother printer attached...

The third point is that you have not installed all the system drivers... I recommend that you use the old version of WSUS offline update to download all the updates of Windows XP (on a new work computer from a USB flash drive) before you install the drivers for your system:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/WSUS-offline-update/obtaining-the-latest-service-packsbuilds-of-Internet-Explorer/patching-Windows-XP-fully-using-the-WSUS-offline-update/

You can then download the system from the Dell FTP site drivers drivers and downloads may not work for an XP machine (on a new work computer from a USB flash drive):

    http://downloads.Dell.com/published/pages/dimension-4500.html

You will need to install the drivers in the order, which is particularly critical for Windows XP works correctly:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/downloading-drivers-checking-hardware-IDs-and-downloading-and-installing-Dell-system-drivers-in-the-correct-order/driver-installation/

Windows Vista falls into disuse, some see it as obsolete by 2013 because Microsoft has dropped support for that office 2013, IE10 and IE11. The next version of Windows will be 10 Windows and install the Windows Build 10130 Insider, I recommend:

If you insist on the use of such an outdated Windows version while you use the WSUS Offline Update for patch. This will give you IE9, SP1, SP2 and all updates for Windows Vista. One no hotfix Windows Vista may have problems getting the update:
