  Try going into the service by clicking Start---> Run, type services.msc, click ok. Scroll down to see if windows search is enabled.   You can also check in Control Panel, add/remove programs to see if you have research above windows 4.0 installed.

• Mackbook does not start even after trying disk external bootable

  I have been using macbook for four years until I started face to boot problems with the laptop. The details are given below-

  MacBook Pro 13 inch (middle of model year 2012)

  Latest OS installed - El Capitan (worked very well without any problem since release)

  Upgrade RAM - 16 GB

  Given that I have used to keep macbook in mode 'sleep' while I don't use it, sometimes, the battery runs out and the mac stops. But the last time when he stopped this way was a week back, and since then he has failed to initialize.

  Tried troubleshooting steps-

  1. Try and boot into safe mode - gets stuck during a progress bar
  2. CMD + R in recovery mode - I am able to access the recovery options. Disk utility doesn't show any problem with the default player. Fails to start when the computer reboots
  3. Reset PRAM-start fails.
  4. External drive bootable - an external drive to use for the resettlement of the fresh OS x. Installation complete installation. Data and other settings copied successfully to the new disk. Is stuck on a blank gray screen.
  5. Reinstall a new copy of OS X. Installation complete. Takes awhile to achieve 100% on the progress bar, but then gets stuck there constantly.

  If the default drive would have been corrupted macbook must be able to start with disk utility or external drive would have shown some bad sectors. Your help would be very appreciated

• Satellite U940-102 does not start

  My U940-102 will not start today.
  It was a very good laptop until I "upgraded" to Windows 10 this summer, after the startup is slow (probably the upgrade did not consider configuration RAID of SSD/HDD) and sometimes an update of Windows 10 would be stuck - once I don't see no choice but to remove the battery, who killed the dead battery. Since then he had occasional drive glitches, then yesterday an other update of Windows 10 has taken time, then showed a "disc of recovery. - can take more than an hour" message. A minute later the system was running, but when I turned on the laptop today, I'm just a black screen and the erratic whirring fan more a bit of noise disc, two white LED lighted at the front.

  The good news is that:
  -J' have a backup of my data to an external HDU, although there are a few recent files I want to retrieve from the PC
  -J' have a "twin" of the PC, a nearly identical and work U940-102 also "upgraded" to Windows 10.

  Then, how should I proceed?
  It is likely (as I suppose) that the problem is only a defective HDU and replace the HDU and the battery?
  If it's the HDU, should I replace it with another SSD/HDD Unit (which) or just a pure SSD ((who)?
  I should do or try before you buy the new HDU?
  What I have to do a Setup disk on a 16MB USB and if yes it would be sufficient to do this go the 'twin' on WIndows 10?
  I'll have to migrate Windows 8 to 8.1, and then to 10 or can I skip a step?

  I have created and checked a system recovery on a USB flash using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator on the 'twin' U940-102.
  That was ok, but with the USB stick in the defective PC flash, nothing happens.
  The PC is set to ignore USB key when starting or I'm doing something wrong.
  I tried holding down the power button (after that 7 seconds the PC turns off), and then now zero key while
  pressing power again, but it just whirs on the HDU and, occasionally, the CPU with a completely black screen fan.
  Tried all three USB connectors, but no difference.

• Windows 7 Enterprise does not start successfully after re - install

  I have just reinstalled Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit with SP1 on my laptop HP 6715 b. (I use 32 bits for any software that I develop is always compatible 32-bit.)

  After you have re-installed however, it does not start correctly. What came with windows announce "Starting Windows", but the following animation never - start the four lights that turn and turn into the "Flying Windows Icon.  It then crashes right there - do nothing, no matter how long wait.

  If I can put the machine power off and re - start, we are at the "Windows Recovery screen" - because it has not started correctly the last time.  From there, I can choose to make a recovery and return to the last Point of good restoration, i.e. on a freshly installed system before the update of Windows, of course.

  If I select "Start Windows normally", it starts however. But it is not 'Normal '. For example I can't finish my "Windows Easy Transfer".  It says that it cannot connect to my domain name - even if I am connected to my area and have been using it to install other software.

  Or I can do a Windows Update "normally". The last time I tried, it is gone for hours without finding what be - so I left it overnight. In the morning he had apparently found nothing yet.  However when I turned off the machine and then turn it again - he told me there are 211 updates installed.  WHO has literally all day.

  I'm not happy to come back to the last good Restore Point.  I did once.  He has NOT fixed the problem.

  I also tried:

  • Do a CHKDSK - revealed nothing.

  What is finally here, is that I finally chose an option before he went into the system recovery.  Then, I waited until he was asked to do a system restore.  I said NO, so he went in it checks.  He went through his analysis and finally concluded it was some "system unspecified device" recently added.

  Well I haven't nothing added to my machine for years.  So, I was puzzled.  Then I thought ' well, I don't normally have my key USB is plugged. "  I wonder... ».  I therefore disconnected the USB drive and rebooted the machine.  The rest they say is history.

  Hope this sorry tale helps someone else.  It just cost me four days!

• Satellite M30-107 does not start successfully after using recovery disk

  I recently got my hands on a toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop second hand and decided to freshen it.
  I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after that the laptop is no longer support windows.

  When turned on it shows booting Toshiba disc for about a second then goes to a screen blank and freezes.
  When turned on, once again, a screen will appear an error by stopping and offer the opportunity to start in SafeMode etc but choose one of the options causes the machine to freeze.

  Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

  To be honest, something like this should not happen. I really don't understand why this is happening. I have updated the BIOS on friends A200 and mine P200 and everything works fine. Here on this forum we can only speculate on this issue, but what you need exactly's professional opinion.

  This probably not help but install recovery image and check with the factory settings. Make sure you also on the lower side cooling fan is not blocked and the laptop can be cooled properly. If the problem persists, you should contact the nearest authorized maintainer and clarify this issue.

  Sorry, but I don't really know what you can do in this situation. I don't see any other way to solve this problem.

  Hi, I have recently updated my laptop to Windows 10. My Windows key on the keyboard does not work most of the time.  If the screen does not respond the first time I turn, as described above, I can't absolutely nothing on my pc. I can't access the search bar by moving the cursor to top right, I can't open the tiles, I can't spend in desktop mode, etc.  Front I upgraded to Windows 10 and downgraded to 8.1 all worked perfectly, because I've updated from 8.0 to 8.1 Windows almost 2 years.  I have a defective battery. in fact I can only use my laptop if it is plugged. My fan is constantly going, but I don't know if it's my loss of battery or what's wrong with my pc now.  I have described my problem in the Microsoft community forum but have had little response that was not helpful. I was told to go to the command prompt and put in DISM: scan now (which also contained letters more than that, but I do not remember all). I followed the instructions and for 2 days, my pc seems to do better. Then he returned to this problem again.   Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forum.  What you can do at this point that there are several updates released by microsoft and hardware vendors is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  If this fails to solve the problem.  The only option will be to restore the operating system to the previous, until HP gets the drivers so that they can release them on the support page for your laptop for Windows 10.
