WU seems to be eating my CPU

Suddenly, since this morning, my cpu is fierce. I had to disable Windows Automatic Update. When I go manual for Windows Update, cpu runs high return! Nothing is happening during manual updates. I applied KB2879017 on IE 8 this morning. But as soon as I return to WUA, cpu is high return. Any solution!

Assuming that you have WinXP SP3 IE8

You must download and install the update of December (the following linked file)

and then RESTART the computer before moving on to Windows Update

It is a monthly ritual until April 2014 end of support for XP

The linked TechNet page

http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/security/dn481339

will give you a link to most recent monthly cumulative security for internet explore that you must manually download and install before you won't have access to windows update for the same monthly period.

https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/MS13-097 is this month December 10

Select the download that is necessary for your version of Internet Explorer and download and install it and restart your computer before you visit Windows Update to get other updates which will then become accessible, after the prior cumulative IE security update is downloaded and installed MANUALLY and the computer is RESTARTED.

I have a brand new L502X XPS15 with Core I7-2720QM and 8 GB memory. My Task Manager indicates that the DD Realtek Audio Manager is constantly eat 13% of my CPU. My audio (audio is on) are turned on but I'm not the treatment of audio. Isn't that the consumption of resources a little too? Can I have a defective adjustment? Any suggestions?

So I disabled the software Realtek through the Configuration of the system and disabled via Device Manager and rebooted. The result was no CPU usage and no noise at all. I then re-enabled all the above items, rebooted, played a CD through Windows Media Player, has played a TV internet show via Windows Media Center, and played a DVD using CyberLink DVD. Manager tasks reported the original CPU usage by 13% in the name of the Image rtkngui64.exe. Now after the violin above, that the Image shows is more on Manager tasks. Instead, RAVBg64.exe, Realtek HD Audio background process, appears with no significant CPU usage. This Image appeared not before.

In summary, it seems that the basis of deactivation and reactivation of task cleared up the problem.

How to solve it? Thank you!

Please, open the pane Internet accounts in system preferences and disable all Google accounts. The data will remain on Google's servers. See if there is an improvement. If there is, see below.

Delete Google contact account. Still, you will not be delete anything from Google.

Scroll to the bottom of the list of the types of accounts (facebook, Linkedin, etc.), and then click Add another account...

    Click on CalDAV account.

  • Why a process called "soagent" eats my CPU?

Yesterday, I noticed that the fan on my MacBook Pro was continued uninterrupted, make a ton of noise, and the performance of my machine had slowed to a crawl. I open the activity monitor to find that a process called 'soagent' was about using 106% of the resources of the processor in my Mac, as in this screenshot.

I force closed the process several times, but always, it comes to life and grabs these CPU resources, even when I've closed all applications.

Anyone have any idea what this "soagent" is linked to, or what it is? I have difficulties in diagnosis.

    My OS is 10.11.2.

See the Task Manager 15 to 35% + CPU usage when no applications are in course of execution... recently I had re - load Norton and empty the trash corrupted and run the AutoCorrect on the ethernet port

I ran SpyBot several times, and showed full with Norton and MalwareBytes and Avira scans, and others still nothing as corrupt.

I moved your post to the forums Windows, performance, and maintenance.

You posted in the MSE forum.

Note to have Norton and Avira active and running is a bad idea. MBAM free is very good, Pro may also conflict with your primary security package, despite what manufacturers State MBAM.

  • 4 'system' process ID eat maximum CPU

In the resource monitor process SYSTEM (PID = 4) consumes a lot of cpu and my computer is slow.

    Hi Pradeep,

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly you experience slow performance on the computer.

    1. Since when are you facing the issue?

    2. you have any security program installed on the computer?

3 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

You can run a full scan using the Microsoft Security essential and check for infections.

Important: It could be a risk of data loss if all the files are infected and should be deleted.

You can also run the FIXIT from the link and check if it helps.

If the step does not help, you can start the computer in safe mode and perform a clean boot. Clean boot helps eliminate any conflict of third party software.

Note: when you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 3, mentioned in the article to start the computer to a normal startup.

Here is another article with some good to help improve the performance of computers. Go through it and check if it helps.

Hope this helps and provide us more information if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help.

  • ABBYY 9.0 Sprint - safe or a part of the virus that seems to be eating my files?

I continued to get guests to download an audio file from an unknown source today, so I just kept close the box. Then, the computer froze and when I rebooted I found that the programs are not open as they usually - slow and brilliance.

I took the computer to this morning here and then all of my documents and folders disappeared! Great huh? It is the solution that can assure you it will not affect documents or records...

I undid then restore but still no record - actually, one or both who survived have disappeared. Now I get a message prompt to download ABBYY Sprint 9 and boxes pop up saying that I "errors critical hard drive"...

Any ideas or is it out of the Geek Squad in the morning?

    Hello

Method 1 : perform the clean boot and check if the problem persists.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

Method 2 : run the disk check and see if the problem occurs.

    Warning of Chkdsk.

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive, then chkdsk attempts to repair this sector. If no data is available while data may be lost.

    Hope that helps.

  • HP Photosmart Plus 209 has: com.hp.devicemodel.transportproxy uses 100 percent of the CPU, persistent problem

    Hello

This process HP com.hp.devicemodel.transportproxy seems to have a life that he has - he's eating 100% CPU, even when finished printing and the printer is not connected.

The old NET on this http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/com-hp-devicemodel-transportproxy-uses-100-percent-of-t...   suggested delete and update the drivers of HP who I did it - but it did not help and the problem is still there up until I go to System Preferences > printers and to remove the printer (I can't just delet the process in activity monitor, while it keeps!).   Not really elegant.  And if you forget to do it continues to run, 100% of the CPU and becomes very hot, even when the lid is closed.  Not nice.

    No fix for this, HP?

  • SVChost.exe cpu issue with XP Pro after removal of Trojan

My sister recently downloaded a virus on my computer. I removed the Trojan horse and have had problems with SVChost.exe are beginning to eat time CPU. This is usually triggered when I start Firefox. It may be unrelated, but I do not. I did a uninstall/reinstall on Firefox and now it will briefly be blip in the Task Manager process tab, but it disappears almost immediately.

I service Pack3 on my machine, so I don't think it's the SVChost service Pack3 fixed problem. I ran a repair of XP once I have nuked the Trojan horse. I ran across the virus alarm area scan, adaware, and malwarebytes to make sure that the thing had gone gone gone.

I did a check on what is in the regedit for svchost, and it has the following:

    default reg_sz

    DcomLaunch REG_MULTI_SZ

    DOT3SVC

    REG_MULTI_SZ

    DOT3SVC reg_multi_sz

    eapsvcs REG_MULTI_SZ

    getPlusHelper REG_MULTI_SZ

    HTTPFilter REG_MULTI_SZ

    imgsvc reg_multi_sz

    LocalService REG_MULTI_SZ

    netsvcs reg_multi_sz

    NetworkService REG_MULTI_SZ

    RPCSS reg_multi_sz

    termsvcs REG_MULTI_SZ

    wudfservicegroup reg_multi_sz

I did some research, and I don't know where to go next. I think it's a registry issue maybe, or a svchost corrupt, but since I have service pack 3, I don't know if there is something else I can do, especially since the question seems to start when I start Firefox. Don't use not Firefox may be an answer, but I really want to make sure that the problem is resolved so that my computer is not get no more corrupt than it already is.

I saw in my research programs will supposedly fix your registry database, but they seem to be more malicious sites, so I am wary of downloading something that is not specifically to Microsoft. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might want to do next? Everything I've read seems to indicate the problem but not the solution. Thank you for taking the time to watch it!

I think you can still infected?

Try to run one scan of other suppliers and also if you want you can send me your HijackThis report for analysis on my e-mail address in my BIO profile.

What the name of the Trojan horse?

    NASS - http://www.nasstec.co.uk

    Thanks Nass and Paulogergo,

I think that I fixed it. I have re-ran all my antivirus programs and I did forget to empty my cache and temporary files. I clear up the registry and system files. I think that the real culprit was Zone alarm. They have this new feature, called force shield. I didn't know that there was a cache that had to be cleared out. Thus, the register needed to be cleared up, but the problem of Firefox was my firewall program. My machine worked fine for the last half hour with no slow worms down or my sessions of cpu overloaded. I run a defrag during the night to make sure. But it seems that everything is copacetic. Thank you so much both to look at this for me. I have not had a virus in 10 years and I forgot what I didn't.

  • Can CPU overheating if Portege R930 goes into sleep mode?

I have an a Portege R930. I run an application of 25-30% of the CPU for long hours. If I put the laptop in mode 'sleep', the calculation get suspended? If not, and it is still running, how the CPU is cooled when the fan is off mode 'sleep'? The CPU can overheat?

I * don't * want my program from several hours to be interrupted by a detector from overheating. If I know that the program is suspended in mode 'sleep', I fear enter "standby" mode. If this isn't the case, so I'll keep the laptop awake, and if I need to carry the laptop, I'll put it into hibernation.

The answer seems to be that the CPU cannot fire because the programs are suspended: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Port%C3...p/689961#M4014

  • Satellite 2100CDS upgrade 400-500 MHz CPU

    Dear Toshiba passionate,

I have a Satellite 2100CDS with an AMD K6-2/400 processor. I bought another authentic treatment to change with something more powerful. The cooling would be OK, but the machine starts with the K6-2/500. What should I do? Update the BIOS?

    Thank you in advance!

    David, Hungary

    Hello

It is not no wonder that your portable fuel not.
Have you checked if you new CPU is compatible or supported?

2100 series was delivered and support only the AMD K6-2-P 400 MHz processor with 3D now! Technology
I found some details on this CPU.
The coprocessor math and 64 KB of cache memory are integrated into the processor and it s a 100 MHz bus clock.

It seems that you use unsupported CPU! The point is that the replacement of the CPU is not easy and above all it s no is not possible or not recommended to replace the CPU on laptops.
The notebooks are all just different as desktop computers

Do not think that the BIOS update will help you...

  • Solving the CPU usage

Is there a kind soul out there who could guide me through to solve a problem of CPU use caused by soagent and the address book please?  I keep on going activity monitor to force these process to quit smoking, but then it reboots shortly after with the fan kicks in.  Please avoid abbreviations where possible I use too many abbreviations in the work that I do and I am not notified with abbreviations for Mac.

Thank you very much in anticipation.

You can search the forums, there was much discussion of these.

soaagent is the process that allows to synchronize the web services (SOA = SOA)

It syncs things like lists of contacts (vCard) etc.

There seems to be two potential problems:

1 format incompatibility with certain sites - one I think was Google / gmail contacts

    (Note it syncs with icloud)

    2. If you just updated to el cap, it doesn't seem to be more intensive CPU for short bursts - which seems to be after a few clocks

So it's as simple as "wait and see" or also difficult that "why is it churning in force when Sync some large lists of items?

But others more and have done tons of hits that we should avoid repeating

  • Satellite A30 303: Question on replacement of the CPU

    Hi all

I recently tried to clean the dust from my laptop.
I removed the cpu and trying to put it back in the place I folded one of the pins. Now, I tried to draw on the pins but have no chance that the laptop shows just a white screen.

Is there someone who can fix bent pins?

Also where can I get a replacement CPU attached to a radiator of? I'm after a 3.06 GHz intel pentium 4

    Hello

It is a very stupid situation. It seems you have damage the CPU!
Usually, this occurs if users have no experience and try to remove and to correct some things that should be done by a technician.

Impossible to fix the CPU damage only the replacement could help.

    > but have no luck as the laptop shows just a white screen.
    > Is there anyone who can fix bent pins?

As you say that you tried to start Notepad. How did insert the processor on the motherboard if the pins are bent?

Regarding your question about the replacement of the CPU; the replacement of the CPU is not advisable on laptops and not easy. Especially the microcode and DMI must be updated after the replacement of the CPU and the motherboard. Without these updates, the CPU on the 600 MHz or the laptop overheating or primer will not work!

    > Also where could I get a replacement CPU attached to a radiator of? I'm after a 3.06 GHz intel pentium 4

If you want to know what s CPU could be compatible, please check your type of chipset used on this laptop and check the specifications of the Intel page!

Finally, I would recommend asking a technician a laptop get the laptop working again.

    Good luck

  • Workstation CPU temperatures...

Is there anywhere that I can read on standard desktop CPU Temperatures?

    I have a xeon Z600 of x 5650 and 60/70 ° c Idle and 80 c + loads of experience.

These temperatures seem high compared with a CPU of office time... jobs just run more hot than the Office of the CPU?

    Any information will help!

I conducted stress tests on some workstations HP, with processors with accounts internal high.  All the hearts were running at 100%.  Max temperatures were in the low 80s (deg C) and time dependent on the particular CPU, but all the hearts were between 11 and > 20 degrees lower than the specification of Tj max for each processor.  There is a gap of basic core, and most were closer to 20 degrees C below Tj max.  Some systems ran colder than others (usually the 8xx series ran a few degrees cooler).

High power CPU Workstation can run at 60/70 degrees idle so 80's to full CPU loads are typical and well inside by Intel.  I wouldn't worry about this at all.

  • DSA maxing out CPU data acquisition

I'm developing an application on a PXI-8196 (Windows XP) controller that uses a card PXI - 4472 DSA to read a single microphone and a FFT signal analysis. I need solve the two frequencies of 36kHz (and), so I've planned for sampling 96 kech. / s. I wrote a simple loop of data acquisition, configuring NI44xx DAQ/read screws using read the string unique at this rate, but when I run it, it immediately pegs my CPU 100% usage. So far, I did have problems with missing samples or the system crashes, but I am a little concerned that only data acquisition uses all my CPU time. Y at - it tricks that I can implement to reduce the CPU load?

I tried to vary the parameter samples per channel - with sizes ranging from 1000 to 48000 samples - buffer but I do not seem likely to reduce the CPU usage. Changing the sampling frequency affects the CPU usage (up to about 40% to 48 ksps / s; ~ 75% 72 ksps / s), though. According to this KB: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D9DDF9FA02D1C18A86256EBC0016C93D

"A controller Embedded PXI-8176 can compute all the time of the spectra of FFT power on 8 channels for PXI-4472 clocked at 102.4 ksps / s »

so I think with my 8196 I should have no problem at all to read only one channel 96 kech. / s.

Anyone have any suggestions to reduce my CPU Overload? Thank you!
