X1C Windows 7 UEFI install without possible MSC mode?

Hello

I recently bought a Lenovo X 1 carbon and, after a brief tour in Windows 8, decided to install a clean Windows 7 on the computer. I managed to install Windows 8 in UEFI BIOS mode without CSM compatibility (and secure boot).

Today, I tried to install Windows 7 without compatibility CSM and secure boot UEFI BIOS mode. When I tried to load Windows 7 (SP1 slipstreamed) installation from a USB bootable FAT32 stick, "grey bar" initialization worked very well (that is, the data is read), but the configuration hung on "starting windows" (tried 3 times); I tried one of the security modes and the system stops reports charge the filesystem to "classpnp.sys.

Then, I went back to the BIOS and enabled the CSM (still only UEFI) compatibility. With this setting, I do install Windows 7 without any problem, and I installed it on a GPT partition. After installation, I installed all the Windows 7 updates and offers drivers also updated the X 1 drivers of carbon through Lenovo system update. Then, I tried to disable the CSM and restart, resulting again in the system to get stuck at the "starting Windows", as when trying to install.

Have anyone of you installed Windows 7 with UEFI successfully and without active CSM? There are the "stuff" that can be applied to make this work? Note: the only advantage that I expect to get it to work is the "most beautiful watch" UEFI "BIOS" screen

BIOS version is 2.03. Any suggestion is appreciated.

There is no solution for this.  Win7 video drivers require the CSM, even using the UEFI.  The video driver will not work correctly if the CSM is disabled.  If you want to use Win7 on your system, you must leave the active CSM.

  • Visioneer OneTouch 8700 USB Scanner Driver for Windows XP SP1 installed SP 2 compatibility mode - does not

My machine is upgraded from XP SP2 to Windows 7. Support was interrupted by the manufacturer scanner after the pilot XP SP1.   Update of Windows in my system is always sur-installe updates automatically.   The scanner driver has been downloaded from the MFRS. ' site and installed in my computer Windows 7 in "compatibility mode for XP SP2. The scanner icon in my system tray.   To make a physical connection to my system, I get error that it can not be connected or cannot be configured.   I have two USB ports of work attached to the Mo (Chinese-"Weibu") and two USB PCI card is compatible with XP and earlier versions (as shown on the box, no mention of Windows 7).   I tried all these ports, always the scanner does not connect to my system.   In addition, my device manager under USB controllers, shows the exclamation marks in yellow triangles against two elements of the same name: "VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller.   I uninstalled these 2 elements and restarted my system several times, without success.   At each reboot, the yellow marks disappear but soon reappear.  But the scanner worked perfectly fine in my old XP SP 2 system before moving on to Windows 7 and before installing the USB PCI card.

Is there a solution to this problem up the old USB devices and running in the Windows 7 environment?   (I have a very old IBM PC Camera too that works well in my old XP system, but not yet tried in the current system, even if the driver has been installed).

If finally I am not able to use the scanner under Windows 7, I reluctantly get Windows XP reinstalled on another drive and boot into it just to be able to use the scanner which is functioning perfectly.

I am a person of 78 years and enjoy using and experimenting with my PC, which has become an addiction for me.

    Thank you.

You can buy a copy of XP that would probably cost more to replace the scanner and now is not the right time to install XP anyway.

Your webcam is a lost cause. Compatibility mode has been designed to work for older programs, and Microsoft does not recommend to use it to install the device drivers. I have no idea why some here suggest a possibility...

I found a way to do it myself.  I knew someone who was still using Windows XP, and with his permission, I found all the files of spiders by searching, put them on my backup stick and put the files on my computer at home.  I just put it on the desktop so it is easy to find and it works very well.  Only, I transferred the .exe file.

  • Can I switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 by installing Windows 7 without uninstalling XP?

Original title: improvement of the operating system.

Can I switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 by installing Windows 7 without uninstalling XP?

Yes, and in fact you must do in order to qualify for the upgrade price.  You must realize, however, this update of XP to 7 involves a "custom installation" - that is, you must save your data first (on external support) and to reinstall all your applications after that Win 7 is running.

Under certain circumstances, installing Windows 7 might create a windows.old file, but it's not clear to me what is stored in memory in the transition from XP to 7. you will certainly be able to run one of your older applications without having to reinstall them.  See, for example, http://www.chron.com/business/silverman/article/Going-from-Windows-XP-to-Windows-7-It-s-not-1609463.php

QUESTION: Is it possible to download Windows XP and install it on a built-in operating system?
A representative of Microsoft Support helped me download a TORRENT (Microsoft.Windows.XP.SP3.Professional.March.2011.6230196.TPB.torrent) file so I could burn Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a CD and do a clean install on my machine.
I burned the operating system on the CD, but when I went to install on my machine, I loaded it in the CD ROM and I clicked on the compatibility of the systems of control and then I clicked on check my system automatically, then the window of Microsoft Windows Update Advisor popped up and there are 2 options (Option 1) Yes Download the updated installation files (recommended) up-to-date, I clicked on next, a window popped up saying that she was performing dynamic update, then a small window pops up that says, heel loader for WINNT32 setup - warning is from safety (name: ident.cab) and an unknown Publisher, I clicked on run and Microsoft Windows Upgrade Advisor had a message that says the following items are not compatible with Windows XP, if you continue, you will not be able to use these items, even after the installation is complete. (Windows Power Shell (TM) 1.0). When I click on details, I got this message... Installation of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 has been cancelled because XP SP3 cannot be installed on Windows PowerShell (TM) 1.0. Before you continue, you must uninstall Windows PowerShell (TM) 1.0. For more information http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926139
I contacted a different Microsoft Support representative (because that I treated initially was not available), and he told me that the Windows XP operating system on my machine was built.
You have a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Windows XP is no longer available.  You will need to purchase a 'Full Version' edition of Windows 7 and install it.  Windows 7 to be purchased from the Microsoft Store.

  • Reinstall Windows 7/Factory reset without windows installed

I have an Inspiron R14 N4010, I recently installed Ubuntu 13.04, removing the stock of Windows 7.

I have implemented so that Ubuntu uses a logically partition but still leaves enough space for a future reinstallation of windows 7, the two utility Dell and recovery partitions were left intact.

Ubuntu, of course installed without any major problems. Now I want to reinstall Windows 7 sotck in space, I left blank on the disc.

After trying all morning I can not access the recovery partition to the life of me.
The linux boot loader (GRUB) automatically detects the recovery partition, but it fails with code 225, something on the missing disk.
It was my only hope for and ease of installation, after I have looked for ways to start the option "Fix the system" at startup.
After a long period of F8 F12 and F2 and Fn + FX and effing combinations all the keys to the top, I came to the conclusion that the F8 thing is a windows and not function BIOS, I can not access without a system already installed windows.

Am so much I really messed up, is this useless recovery partition? Any suggestion on how to proceed?
I'll try to upload a copy of windows 7 and then try it n dvd serious. On the other hand, seems, no DVD or extra stuff supplied with the Dell machine.
I just press the F8 thingy? Is there a way to access the partition restoration and refurbishing the factory without a system already installed?

    Thanks for any help.

I installed successfully in this way, the util windows DISKPART, is bad and almost destroyed my Ubuntu system partition, I didn't create partition on the free space.

In any case, it's easily fixable, image windows inside the recovery partition system was simple and later Ubuntu detect successfully the new Windows 7 and it boot.

Uh, sorry for the bad writing, I'm a little sleepy. Thank you for people to help, people should see this for future reference.

  • Legal upgrade (and activate) for Win7 64-bit Windows XP 32-bit WITHOUT overwriting current (replacing) Win XP 32-bit install?

I use version OEM Windows XP HOME 32 bits on a Gateway desktop computer - with no problems.  However, the hard drive is to reach the end of its planned life expectancy, and approaching the period of support for XP.

To solve the problem, I installed a new (small capacity) hard drive, with the intention to install Win 7 Pro (64 bit) on the new drive.  I read and reread ALL instructions on different help pages (for installation) (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/)... and avoided all of the common problems.

Currently I have the old (Win XP) and the new hard drive physically assigned to DH0 DH1 - as a CUSTOM, run Setup. -leaving me with a choice of dual-boot to initialize the top between "Earlier version of Windows" (on DH1) and Windows 7 (on DH0).  They both starts without any problem.

HOWEVER - during inspection, I see that the folder "OLD Windows" on Windows 7 drive in a VACUUM.  This indicates that installation of Windows 7 does not recognize the existence of my current installation of Windows XP on the other hard drive?  Upon activation, I get the dreaded
    "Windows 7 activation error: 0xC004F061.
because "a previous version of Windows wasn't on your computer when Windows 7 was installed. To install an upgrade version of Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP must be installed on your computer. "

The new Windows 7 must be installed on the same drive as the old Windows XP  In order to activate the 'upgrade '?

I have no problem with the drudgery of migrating my data and install applications from one drive to another with an empty directory "OLD Windows" - as long as both car are mounted.  My only question is to know if the 'new' Win 7 64 - bit OS SHOULD replace the old XP 32-bit operating system in order to Activate the newly installed operating system Win 7 64 bit.

Is there an 'Official' Microsoft document that answers this question?

    Thank you
