XP - D: disk system recovery does not

I need to do a system restore in XP Home Edition on a Dell computer where my D: drive does not work.  Is there a place on the Web sites where I can access this version of XP and provide my license number and the name and download it online, without going through my D: drive?  Thank you.

I'm sorry, but there is no way to download Windows XP.

Many Dell computers have a built-in recovery partition that can re - load Windows from scratch.  To access it, press Ctrl + F11 at the BIOS boot screen, just after starting the computer.

If this does not work, here are some other possibilities:

1. replace the CD drive.

2. some, but not all, computers can boot from an external USB CD drive.  Who may need to change some settings in the BIOS.

Before a re-installation, save all files in significant on an external disk.

  • Windows 7 upgrade failed - disk HARD recovery does not work

I just received my Windows 7 upgrade disc, followed the procedure and he managed to upgrade Vista 64 bit for Windows 7 32 bit! Some drivers also seem to, were charged more than once.

I tried to do a system restore from the recovery of HARD drive partition - and it won't!

    Can someone, please?

    Hello

Drive HARD recovery does not work because Win 7 ran the Boot Manager and maybe the HDD partition has been affected.

I guess you want to roll back to Vista preinstalled Toshiba.
I think in your case, only the recovery disc will help you.

    Welcome them

  • Problems starting HP Mini 210-2100, partition deleted, flashing the line underscore, System Recovery does not

    Hi all

    my situation is like this:

When I turn on my laptop I get a black screen with a flashing underscore above it "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key" (even if the BIOS boot order a hard drive for laptop on top). I changed this order a couple of times because I used a USB stick with Windows 7 on it (black version) to enter System Recovery Options (without USB I can't access the system recovery (F11 doesn't work not).)

My System Recovery Options window is white/empty (no operating system, the size of the partition and the location). I'm going on and click repair system that did not help (it of a loop, do not start Windows). In the Diagnostics and repair of details it is Root cause found:

The partition table doesn't have a valid System Partition.

    Repair action: Partition table repair

    Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0 x 0

That's because before this problem starting with underscore flashing, I had another problem: "BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart» I was impatient and wanted to fix that quickly and made a big mistake, after looking on the web for some time I have found no useful websites describing how to fix it (I found one when it was already too late). I went on a channel on youtube and came with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8n-G9Rv2zo before I didn't know what a clean install was, I looked up 03:55 and made perfect:

    CMD:

    DiskPart

    list disk

    Select disk 0

    partition from the list

selected and deleted all 4 partitions (size: 215GB, 199 MB, GB, 103-17 MB)

created new partitions same dimensions (all the primary dimensions)

then I stopped and clicked on a cross (x) in cmd to get out when I came to a new window where I clicked on YES (I have not read what he was doing, I just wanted to go to bed because it was too late). Since there is no "BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"(damage because now I know how to fix this, I was just too stupid, impatient and irresponsible), there is just a line of underscore flashing with"No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key"any of the BIOS boot order is this sentence does not disappear. He did a couple of times before, but no more.

So after this long description, my question is:

Is there a way to recover my data which I assume is lost and can not restore? I have no backups or images.

P.S. I do not installed Windows 7, I just deleted partition table and created a new.

Sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker. Thank you in advance.

    Hi MatBar,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I'm sorry but there is no way to recover the data once you have deleted the partition. You could try a local repair facility, given that some devices of data to recover your data.

You may restore the Windows 7 operating system with disks if you find someone with the same version of Windows that you use their discs.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • System recovery does not work?

I have a HP Pavilion dv2910us, and I need to perform a recovery system on my laptop. I tried to press F11 when the computer starts, and it does nothing except it emits a loud beep and continues on its way, commissioning. So when it does not work, I came across the site of HP to look for another way may be to perform a system recovery that I never knew. I found that I can open the Recovery Manager in my Start menu and run the operation there. I tried about 15 times, following the specific steps that were given to me and even another way, that I found on the forum. All that happens is my computer restarts and I get into my account and it's the same as it was before. I really need perform this system recovery. I already moved the files that I need to save to an external hard drive, and I really need to solve this problem. What I am doing wrong, or how do I restore my laptop to factory in another way?

Additional information: my product number is FE989UA #ABA and the series is 2CE8200Y5Q.

  • 10.6.8 startup disk System Prefs does not route El Capitan

    I have a mid 2011 13 "MacBook Pro ("MBP").

    It worked 10.6.8

I use SuperDuper to backup bootable external hard drive to the top.

I have the 10.6.8 cloned system and it is bootable from an external Lacie Rugged Triple HD, connected via Firewire.

I installed 10.11.3 on the MBP and it works fine.

I need to boot from the 10.6.8 backup to access some files and that worked fine.

When this 10.6.8 HD is connected via Firewire to the MBP shows up in startup disk options while it is started from 10.11.3

But, now I want to reboot of HD in MBP 10.11.3 can't do running.

When the startup disk is open when running 10.6.8 from the external hard drive the internal drive in the MBP 10.11.3 running does not appear as an option to restart the system.

Y at - there a trick to getting the HD 10.11.3 appears in the startup disk?

If not, if I just stopped the MBP and then remove the external hard drive, the MBP starts its internal HD with 10.11.3, despite the fact that I am not able to select it from the boot disk before you stop? /

Thanks for any help in advance.

This is because in SystemPreferences-> StartupDisk disc is not set how you want to start.

To avoid this kind of situation when the two BONES are connected:

Hold down the Alt (option) key during startup: it will open the "bootmenu": choose the OS disk to use.

  • Equium - dead after hibernation, the system recovery does not work

    Hello
I'm trying to fix the laptop of one of my friends, but so far without success. It's a Toshiba Satellite with Vista.

She had problems with a black screen after startup in Windows Vista. I found a work around for this problem, but it was a little complicated for her... She doesn't know much about computers. ;)
So I but it would be a good idea to tell him to always use hibernation. However, when I put the portable standby extended, all seemed fine, shutdown, power off.
I tried and then turn it back on. Light turns green, cd drive makes noises. Nothing more. Screen remains completely black. No sounds. Keyboard input does not work. No access to the Manager startup or anything else. He left light until I pass him by pressing the button for a few seconds.
I removed the battery and put back in place, without result.
Connection to an external monitor shows no results.
When I put the original CD recovery Toshiba, no results.

So, basically a cell phone dead. Ah yes, I'm in the Brazil in a small village, away from the stores of tech support or computer. Maybe a problem material, but all was working fine until I used the hibernation.

Any help or ideas would be very appreciated! ;)

    Hello

My laptop could not wake up after hibernation too but I managed to wake up again.
    This;
Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
Now, you will have to wait a while 1 hour should be sufficient, but you can leave the laptop disconnected for a longer time (all night long)

After that, you must connect the battery and AC adapter and should try to light the device if it will not help you then you are in trouble
This would mean that a serious hardware problem causing this problem and I doubt you could remedy without any help from the ASP.

  • F11 system recovery does not

Hello I have a desktop Compaq SR2150NX that came with Vista, but set to upgrade to windows 7 computer.  However, I need to make a full recovery, including formatting the C drive and reinstall the Vista operating system.  However, the F11 works at startup is no longer work.  I remember there was some kind of patch to fix this problem, but I can't seem to locate it.

The recovery partition is still intact, so I should be able to do the recovery if I can get the fix, OR if someone has a way for me to do a "factory" full restoration of my system using the existing recovery partition.

    Thank you

    Hello

There are two options to attempt to reinstall your original Vista installation - the 2nd is the easiest, but you can try the 1st to see if it will save you having to order a replacement set of disks - make sure to save any important files first.

    1. If you can still boot into Windows, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click on management of the disks in the left pane and when loaded partitions, make a right click of the recovery Partition and mark it as 'active '.  Close all windows and then restart - if it worked, the PC will start the recovery Partition during the restart.

    2. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    Hello

This does not work because you have installed Win 7 64 bit as you said here:
    > I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, that the laptop came with Win7 Home Premium 32 bit.
But have you tried also pressing F8-> fix my computer-> drive HARD recovery?
    Try this

Otherwise, drive HARD recovery does not work because the boot manager has been changed or damaged as a result of the new install of Win 7 and this is why you cannot load HARD drive recovery.
That is why it s always recommended to create a recovery disc before changing anything on the HARD drive.

  • Drive HARD recovery does not not for Satellite Pro L450D-12 x

I have a laptop that I'm fixing for a friend.
According to toshibas official specification it is than a HDD recovery partition which is hidden.

For a reason unknown to me, now the 0 (zero) key does not work. F8 does not work either and the windows system restore does not seem to get me there either.

Can someone please explain to me why this is happening?
Nobody ever touched the hard drive on the alleged recovery hidden partition which is toshibas official specs 100%...

Anyone share a few ideas with me here please

    Kind regards
    Andrew

    Hello

The HARD drive recovery partition is not hidden
In my case the image files when placed on the second partition in Toshiba HDD folder.

However, the fact is that HARD drive recovery could be launched by pressing the F8 key, and then choose the option called repair my computer and in a new window the recovery HARD drive option should be chosen.
If this is not possible, then you will need to retrieve the laptop using the recovery disk.

I guess that this disk is not created in the past. Right? You can create the disc using the recovery disk creator which is preinstalled on all Toshiba laptops.

If this is not possible, then you must order the CD here:
