XP home or pro on my p30?

Is there someone who can give me some advice on whether to choose xp home or pro to my p30? It s a machine 2xP4 and I have heard that the House does not support dual processors. I find the shiny machine, but something tells me that I m not getting maximum performance from him.

Is there a difference in performance as well the home of pro?

Hi, Lars

Your laptop is supported by Toshiba for the two operating systems. This is a great notebook with Mobile - Intel - Pentium 4 HT, processor. This means that there are no two processors, but hollow HT (Hyper-of-Threading) technology there is actually a way to fool the operating system into thinking that he hung up to two processors by performing a single chip operate like two more distinct.

In my opinion, you should install XP pro, but I have XP home t should work fine also.

Home or Pro didn't matter. The differences of functionality applies to features of the operating system such as security and management of field, not running the software.

Photoshop and Lightroom will run on both.

    Can it be done?

    Hello

If I understand you correctly, you want to have Windows XP Professional on your laptop. As far as I know, you need a full version of XP Pro to improve your system this way.

Which copy of Windows you have, XP or 2000?

  • System library on the external hard drive at home, macbook pro travel?

I migrated my library 250 GB + opening of the photos app and designated as a system library. It is located in a 5 d Drobo (without optimization, i.e. contains all original), which I can't take with me when traveling. I activated the iCloud 3 days ago photo library library half transferred which is pretty good, I guess.

Then, when I travel I'll take my camera and the Macbook pro along.  I want to change the new photos on the road and not wait until I return home. I want to end up with my new photos in their full versions in the library of Drobo and iCloud.

    1. when I import new photos for my MBP pictures open and create a new library automatically?

    2. If I named this new library as a library system photos will merge with the photos in the cloud?

    3. when I go back and fix my MBP on my Drobo, the new photos will end up in the library of photos of Drobo if I designate as a system library again?

    4. I can then remove the library of 'travel' from my MBP without deleting anything my iCloud and Drobo.

Also, I'm still on Yosemite. I was already on El Capitan 10.11.1, but upgrading to 10.11.2 was a nightmare, installation stalled repeatedly, I couldn't go back 10.11.1 because it stagnates too and had to return to Yosemite 10.10.5 back up I got the time machine. Photos is 1.0.1. MBP is mid-2014.

I understand a improvements in El Capitan pictures, but

    5. the foregoing have an effect on my problem 1-4.

    I hope someone can help.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Olli-Matti

    1. when I import new photos for my MBP pictures open and create a new library automatically?

When you launch Photos and your library is not available because the drive is offline, Photos will ask you which library to use. You can create a new library at this stage or open a new one.

    2. If I named this new library as a library system photos will merge with the photos in the cloud?

Yes, but the photos will all be first download all photos in iCloud in the library of new, local Photos on your Mac. iCloud library aims to keep all the libraries of identical to the version in iCloud iCloud and update. Don't switch to another library in the library of the system, when your external drive is offline. each switch will result in massive downloads and uploads, for several days.  And download my not fit on your internal drive.

    3. when I go back and fix my MBP on my Drobo, the new photos will end up in the library of photos of Drobo if I designate as a system library again?

    4. I can then remove the library of 'travel' from my MBP without deleting anything my iCloud and Drobo.

I recommend to use the new library locally and wait until you get home and have access to your external drive.

Then, use PowerPhotos to merge your new photos in your photo library in the system.  It is a great tool to manage libraries of separate pictures.

You can download a free trial here: Fat Cat Software

Or use the web interface of your iCloud photo library.  You can download directly to your iCloud photo library without launching Photos on your Mac.  Go to www.icloud.com, launch the Photos.app on this web page, then download the new photos.  Then they will be downloaded into your library of Phtoos on Drobo when you connect your player and open your system from Photo library again.

Someone is an expert in the field?

    Good bye
    Dominique

    Hello

If you want to upgrade the OS to WinXP Pro you must install it from the original CD of Microsoft. After installation, you can use the same drivers Toshiba because the WinXp Home and WinXp Pro uses the same drivers.
The drivers, you can find on the CD of tools delivered Toshiba or you're going to download it from the page of Toshiba.

Is very important to install Toshiba stuff in the right order.
    1.) chipset utility
    2.) common modules (if available)
    Driver graphic 3.),
    4.) etc...

You can also follow the order of installation of the driver Toshiba & Tools CD.

Now, he has completely formatted the HD remove the operating system (Windows XP Pro).
When I bought the laptop, with what he came already installed WXP Pro and comes from the Certification sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
Is there anyway I can receive an installation of Windows XP Pro CD?

Generally, all models of Satellite laptops are delivered with the operating system Windows XP Home edition or Media Center Edition home. Toshiba's Satellite Pro series, and under this name, you can get WXP Pro operating system.

  • home vs pro question

I'm looking for a reputable dealer that still has copies of XP in stock so I can move a portable older that someone gave me form Vista to XP (it has only 1 GB of RAM).

I realized something. I intend to take the laptop to my night school and connect to their wireless network. I know that some other pupils can be printed on the network of campus computer labs, but I don't know exactly how they do it. I'll explain how I think that happens, and I wonder if I can do this with XP Home as a connection to the domain is involved.

Computer labs have removable hard drives which are awarded to students who can be started, and give local administer rights, and students like me install and configure Windows ourselves on these discs through copies of XP provided by the school.

When I got to the top, I had implemented it a system of working group, however, I was still able to connect to the print server through the use of Start-> Run and entering \\printservername. Windows XP then invites me my login and password.

If I try to connect to the print server with XP Home, using this method, I will be unable to connect because of a lack of support from area? I learned the differences of XP Home & Pro when I got my associates degree in the early to mid 2000s, I confess that I don't remember the details as I used XP Pro at home for various reasons, not the least is that I had 1 copy for a while.

If only I could transfer an OEM of XP Home license from a tower dead to this laptop, it would be much cheaper.

You can always access and print to printers in domain using the Home version-, but you will be prompted for your login to the domain each time that you connect to the printer. -B-

  • Issue of license upgrade: Windows XP Home - > Win7 Pro?

Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

    Thank you

Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

    Thank you

Yes, Windows XP Home Edition can be an eligible license, but you will need to do a custom installation, there is no direct upgrade path from it.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • Converted existing Windows XP machine, now I want to switch from XP Home, XP Pro in the virtual machine

I am running Windows XP on a Sony Vaio laptop.  It is Win XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3.  I have successfully used VMware converter, wrote the files to an external USB hard disk and set up the VM on my MacBook Pro.  And up to this point, I am very, very happy.  BUT...

... I have an older version of Win XP Pro I would use in the VM instead of XP Home.  When I try to install XP Pro, I get an error message indicating that Windows will not an older version over a newer version installed.  I guess I could by wake in Win XP pro SP3, then create a bootable disc, but I hope that there is a simpler solution.

Additional details: I'm under VMware Fusion 2.0.4 (159196).  The MacBook Pro is v.5.2 running OS X v.10.5.6 with a dual core processor Intel 2.66 ghz and 4 GB of RAM.  Only really is setting up dual monitor.  The second screen is a LG Flatron W2353V.  (For those who seek it, relax - it was a gift from my wife who is trying to preserve my view ;).))

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and tested as soon as I can.  I'm hoping to use the MacBook as my main computer, but there are a few Windows programs I can't do without (Forte' mail and news Agent, SnagIt! for the lightweight editor).  Thanks in advance. -Tony Lima (TonyLima)

I think that you have to slipsteam XP Pro with SP3.
