XP SP2 to SP3 update
Should be easy - start - all programs - Windows Update error then add the update: Tools - internet opions - Security tab - Trusted Sites - Sites added microsoft (http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/) area as you direct. How some ever - while checking for updates, the software detects it cannot "display the requested page" and provides 3 options:
(1) go to the FAQS - fact and works just fine, but no update to SP3
3) go in groups of discussion - fact update works fine, but no update to SP3
(2) SOLUTIONS - immediately error HTTP error 404-File not found
I just spent most of the past 12 hours, reinstalling Windows (original copy) because of a defective hard drive (starting from zero). It should be easy to update with the upgrade of the car, but apparently it isn't and I can't understand why. Please notify. Thank you
Have you tried just manually download and install XP SP3 yourself? Download here.

Hello
The problem with viruses on the computer, I would say that you download and run a full scan of the system using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.
Here is the link for the Microsoft Safety Scanner which is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
Note:
Data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely.

Equium A60 Win XP SP3 update problem
Of the major problems upgrading a re-installation of SP2 to SP3. Had to re - install because of stability issues. I tried all the many solutions proposed in article Microsoft ID:822798 without success. Installation of the SP3 pack always gets the part passing through and still gives me the error dialog update SP3 "failed to install catalog files. SP2 is stable, but simply will not be upgraded. I tried a variety of approaches, including a try immediately after re-installing XP SP2 with + without any security software or loaded drivers, but same problem no matter what approach.
I'm running the original BIOS - is an update V 1.90 likely to solve anything. I was tought not too touch BIOS upgrade, unless she has a performance advantage?
If this isn't the case, someone has other suggestions.

How about including the SP2 and SP3 and building new Win XP disk in Win XP installation disc?
You can use a software called nLite. It allows you to integrate the drivers and updates on win xp disk.
After that, you can use the new disk to reinstall new OS

Is it possible to get sp1, sp2 and sp3 for XP
I know it's laid before, but where can I download updates SP1, SP2 and SP3 for XP.
I have the original XP Pro install media.
I am strongly considering to put XP Pro on a Dell PC I have has no HARD drive.
I plan to do that because it's basically Win8.1 PUE!
A HUGH mistake buying a machine with Win8.1!
It is UGLY, it is INFLATED WITH CARP, it is UNDESIRABLE to the IMO.
I have need a lot of talk of "insecurity" and any future update. I can't live without them.
I can't the XP service packs of MS or where ever?
CHANGE > in fact I found the s SP just now install media.
I found the stub thing after that I downloaded. But I found no later than SP1 stub. But if the SP1 is not necessary, I can remove it. Just read somewhere that, in order to get SP3 installed, I need SP1 AND SP2.
No, to install sp3, you have sp1 OR sp2.
Yes, the news of the "System requirements" on the download page of the sp3 are vague and misleading: "Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 2."
Commas means 'or' - except the comma between the two editions and two service packs, which means 'and '. The requirements must be written (XP Home or XP Pro) AND (XP sp1) or XP sp2.
If you don't end up doing this, see the post following MS MVP PA bear first: https://groups.google.com/forum/#! msg/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/4-jCtXsbshs/HBI-0476Wj8J

The computer has XP Home. It is an older machine, 266 Celeron, 2 GB of Ram that I built a few years ago. It is part of a home network. It has not been updated for a while so I decided to install SP3, updates, IE 8, BackupNT off CD, FixIT and Partition & Format 2 more large players. It wouldn't install them or partition or format the disks again. It is clear that I have no idea. Mike
Hello
What is your level of service current pack? Click right my computer, click Properties, on the general tab, he says.
If this isn't SP1A or SP2 you will not be able to install SP3. You will first need to install SP2.
How you try to install the SP3? Stand-alone package or Windows Update?
I must say that I'm not sure why you are unable to install, for example, NTBackup. As said by Harish B N, we need more information about the error you get.

I had to re - install Windows XP SP1a, from a CD of resettlement came with my Dell laptop. This was done because I upgraded the hard drive. This facility went well. I went to the Windows Update site to try to get the SP2 and SP3. The webiste is said to SP2 until you can do SP3. The only version of SP2, I find on the website says that it is for the professionals and see the link for the Service Pack to the simple version. When I go on this link there is no one version. Do I need to install SP2 before SP3? If Yes, where can I find the Microsoft of SP2 version? In addition, the site says that automatic updates SP2 but I checked my Configuration of the automatic updates and it will not take anything in. Is there a way to force the automatic update to run immediately? Thanks, Ben
Ben,
I totally agree with PML, you should be able to set up IE and then go to the Windows updates from there, once you get on the Windows Update site it will scan your system and implement critical updates and optional updates SP2 and SP3 should be on the list. It's a way to force an immediate update.
I hope this helps.

I tried to go to windows update but redirected to micrsoft support page, which offers no SP2 and SP3 for windows XP Pro, and yet I don't have a network of computers running windows XP Pro download the SPs would be a disater as it is intended for more than one PC.
It does not give the notice to go to the windows update page, but I can't get there because I do not have windows XP SP 3 installed on my pc, and even if I have it on a disc I couldn't install it anyway because SP 2 is not installed on this pc.
So this pc seems to be thrown into a sort of limbo XP, does anyone know a way I can get these much needed without breaking service packs?
The download versions below can be installed on a single computer.

Windows XP need to upgrade to SP2 or SP3
Hello
I have Windows XP SP1. I need to upgrade to SP2 or SP3. There are free downloads online. can I use them? or should I buy from you? Please me know
Thanks in advance
You don't need to buy anything. If you check in Windows updates, service packs must be put at your disposal. (Unless it's an illegal copy of XP).
If you installed SP1a, you can ignore the SP2 and go right to SP3. If SP1 is installed, to install the SP2 and SP3.
Before you install, disable your antivirus and anti-spyware such as Windows Defender programs. If you are using another firewall, disable and enable Windows Firewall in the control panel for the installation. Once a requires SP3 and working, you can activate the third-party firewall and put the Windows Firewall. Do not keep the two running.
