XW6400 problem two processors with four cores

I have a XW6400 who I am rebuilding as a gift for a friend. The thing is brand new and never been used.

My problem... First record:

Dual Xeon 5130

8Gb Ram 2RX8

Asus GT740 1 GB graphics card

PCI-e USB card 3

StarTech Sata III PCI - e card (ready for SSD)

Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

BIOS 2.38

1 TB WD Caviar Black HARD drive

I managed to get their hands on two Xeon 5410 but after their installation, all that I get out the monitor is... "Power save mode, press any key or move the mouse"... neither of which has no effect.

However, when I put the 5130's back in, it fires quite happy.

I have built a certain PC in the past (including another XW6400) but this problem is quite a head scratcher.

Thanks in advance.

Rob.

Rob,

Don't scratch no more.  You try to load a Xeon Quad Core for a xw6600 in a xw6400.  In theory, you might think that it will work.  It will not... the only processors Attaché who work are listed in the QuickSpecs for the xw6400,.  It has to do with the "section of the BIOS firmware, which includes a white list of specific processors that are allowed.  The quad core Xeon desired is E5345, last sSpec code (SLAEJ), on eBay.  Buy one and if we're going to work, then you can add a second.  I have a 'well known' an in my stash, but practically all I bought used off eBay work very well.

There are about 10% of the mothers xw6400 who cannot run this processor, and in this case, I have two of the fastest dual core Xeon running in the list, the E5160, last sSpec code (SLAG9).

I would recommend running the Intel X 25 - M 160 GB or 320 series 160 or 300 GB, used off eBay.  Run firstly through DBAN, then long NTFS format.  Use W7Pro 64-bit or Ultimate 64-bit and load properly with the little ones and the primary partitions.  These particular Intel SSDS are very fast, corresponds to plug SATAII chipset and use the latest version of the Intel Toolbox.  Your WD is a nice document reader.

You can run the card USB3 of TI of HP, I posted here and a great way to get an output of 2 x 2 (two ports on the back, two in the front) is detailed.  The xw6600 allows you to get the full speed of the slot machine video PCIe x 16 second for USB3, but the xw6400 limits you to 1/2 full speed because of its use of the PCIe gen 1 rather than gen 2 slots for this card.

I would stick as much as possible with the help of what is on the motherboard, rather than load a bunch of useless cards to get things running and stabilized.  You need not of USB3 and SATA gen III for your friend to have a solid rock and great user experience.

All the information is here...

Very nice of you to help your friend.  This new xw6400 has always good life in it, especially if you can do two processor E5345 SLAEJ.  Or, two of the E5160s.

Favorite good cheap used video card: Quadro FX1800, any OEM and the HP firmware update on this subject.

  • Any version later than version 4.2 which correspond to two-processor PC Palm TX?

I manage to synchonyze Palm TX with desktop PC by USB cable: it has never been easy to get a connection and recently it became impossible. You have two processors, or dual core?  No problem, and has been a common misconception by many users.

Have you tried the Aceeca drivers?  They will fix compatibility issues with 64-bit operating systems.  See the "64-bit Windows USB drivers for Palm Desktop' thread at the top of this section.

IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE TWO PROCESSORS WITH DIFFERENT SPEEDS!

Is there a problem with my driver software or what? Keeping in mind that when I click SYSTEM in Control Panel it shows me that the processor is T5300 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz.

I need to know if there is a problem with my laptop, because I think that she was not working fast enough.

Yes, it seems this is a common problem of Vista.
At first my laptop L30 CPU is recognized as two different processors with different speeds.
You must remove the CPU of the Device Manager and have to restart the laptop.

After reboot new and new CPU Device Manager installation displays the correct speed ;)

  • Free version of ESXi 4.1 CPU with 8 cores

    Hello

I would like some advice on the question of whether the free version of ESXi 4.1 supports servers with 4 CPU core CPU 8, because I find some contradictory documents on some he said supports only 6 core CPU and not 8. Can someone advise or confirm.

I think the EULA may need to be clarified.  If we ignore free ESXi for awhile, this document - https://www.vmware.com/download/eula/multicore.html - suggests that it's OK to run vSphere Standard for example on processors with 12 cores.   I only give 2 CPUs per physical CPU licenses as each license would cover only 6 of the 12 hearts.  Here is the example that includes the document

    > Example: A customer has already purchased vSphere Enterprise license. Remember that each license of vSphere Enterprise can be deployed on a > processor with up to 6 cores. However, the customer now wants to use these licenses on a newly acquired server with processor with 12 cores. > The client has two options:

    > Upgrade from the company of vSphere vSphere Enterprise Plus license, which provides a right to 12 strands and extra GOLD

    > 2 two vSphere Enterprise licenses for each processor with 12 cores.

It would not appear that vSphere 6 basic editions are hard coded to ignore carrots on it 6 but rather you must just the correct license in place.  With ESXi free since you can register an unlimited number (99 I think?)  processors and in essense, you have enough licenses processors to double for each physical processor.  It would not be what they want and it can be "fixed" in the future, but I'm not sure it would be a EULA violation vSphere.  The doc covers products 'vSphere '.

    This affect which products VMware?

    > This strategy affects the VMware vSphere products i.e. vSphere Essentials, vSphere Essentials Plus, vSphere Standard, Enterprise vSphere, vSphere > advanced and vSphere Enterprise Plus

so maybe they need to clarify their position for free ESXi.

    Hey guys

I'm looking for a little clarification on an issue with parrell treatment in LabView. If I have a dual processor with two 4 core CPU computer will be able to access all 8 cores in the LabView environment. I presume he can use carrots that can see the operating system?

    Thanks for the help,

    Tom

    Norbert B has written:

It is the work of the operating system that applications may use all of the hearts, if necessary. So for the application itself, it should make no difference if the system (hardware) is MultiCPU, multicore, or even simply Hyperthreaded...

    Norbert

It's true, but I would like to add my 5 cents here.

Lets say, if you have a simple loop like

    While (true) {}

    do something

    }

then OS will get a chance to run in multiple threads. So you get max 12.5% CPU load to 8 core PC or 50% max on dual core PC.

I have dual core PC now and allows to check:

Thus, as we can see - 50% CPU load reached (a single core charge more, but its a different story).

Well, if we are going to use two while loops, then we will get 100% load:

Of course, if you need to load all 8 cores, you should have 8 parallel loops.

Compare BD above with the following:

We have two functions of minmax table and they independently, but we have only 50%.

Well, you can get also the 100% CPU utulization inside while loop. In th example below, you have two sub - VI, who called in the same loop:

Here we have 100%. Important, these screws must be reenterant!

See what happened if they reeenterant not:

Now a little about the Vision. Most of the SubVIs Vision behind are DLL calls. Some features of Vision already optimized for the multicore performance. For example, the convolution:

On the comic above, we have a simple loop with a Subvi, but two cores are used (convolute itself already optimized for the core multi car).

Remember, not all functions of Vision optimized yet. For example, low-pass still single-threaded (compare this BD BD above):

Of course, we can use multi hearts - just perform a parallel execution (you must split the image for both parties, and then to unite and so on):

Remember, SubVIs must be reeentrant, and all calls DLL must be thred safe (not in the UI thread). Also good idea to stop debugging in such experiences to eliminate the additional CPU load.

Another point on 8 cores. As far as I know, LabVIEW (and application on LabVIEW) will support only 4 cores within a default delivery system (at least before LabVIEW 2009). If you have need for all 8 cores, then you must add a few lines in LabVIEW.ini. See the thread next where you can find more details:

Interpolate 1 d slow on computer 8 hearts

Hope that everything written above was correct.

Thanks for reading and best regards.

I don't know about other issues. There are always 'problems' with any upgrade. You weigh against the benefits. I know that you need more RAM. At least 4 GB, maybe more if you can. Don't forget that this system is produced at a time when most of the machines have + 8 GB RAM and when Apple said 'minimum' they really mean it.  I recently inherited a MacBook that has 2 GB of RAM and the Mavericks. When I checked the memory, the use of the system was using 1.95 GB = nothing to run applications!

There is no Intel of CS2 version. It's only PowerPC.

That said, OS X 10.6.8 can run PowerPC applications but only if Rosetta is installed. Rosetta is not installed by default on Snow Leopard.

  • Intel E5300 E7400 processor vs duo core?

I am to evaluate where to put my money with a new computer "exactly."  As I evaluate each component, I wonder whether to go standard or upgrade.  I am now to the question of the processor... ideas?  I would use the computer for regular MOM stuff, but my children will play the Sims 2 on it.  Any input?  Thanks in advance...

    Lori

    Hi Lori,

Looks like you are looking for a desktop PC.  Is this fair?  I think you'll be fine with a processor.  Specification of the game says you need a processor clocked at 1.8 GHz or higher (2.4 GHz for Vista).  It said the two processors to meet this requirement.  The E5300 is clock speed 2.6 GHz.  The E7400 is 2.8 GHz.

I would lean towards the E5300 however.  I would like to buy a minimum of 2 GB of RAM.  Maybe 3 GB RAM for Vista.  And maybe get a dedicated video card.  For e-mail, web browsing, word processing, banking online, either CPU should be fine.

Here are just a few notes on your question.

For Intel processor Pentium E5300 here look specifications:

For Intel processor Core 2 Duo CPU E7400 here look specifications:

It's a more difficult question for me to answer because of the fact that they are in families of different processors.  One is a Pentium and the other is a Core 2 Duo.  But both have two hearts.

If you are interested here are Intels reason for upgrading to a Core 2 duo processor:
    http://download.Intel.com/products/processor/Core2Duo/desktop_prod_brief.PDF

The minimum system requirements for The Sims 2 Apartment Life is as follows:
    * The Sims 2 base game (The Sims 2, The Sims 2 Deluxe, the Sims 2 Double Deluxe, The Sims 2 DVD special edition or the Sims 2 Holiday Edition all contain the base game)
    * 1.8 GHz or higher (2.4 GHz for Vista)
    * 1 GB OF RAM
    * Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000
    * 8 x or more fast CD/DVD drive for the physical version
    * At least 1.0 GB of hard disk space additional (total of 5.0 GB is required if you install the Sims 2 and The Sims 2 Teen Style Stuff at the same time).
    * A T & L compatible video card with at least 32 MB of RAM video.

Personally, I'd put your money in addition to RAM since Vista can always use more memory.  But I don't think that you will have problems with a processor to play Sims 2.

Wait and see what offers other people.

    Hello

You can re-create the database of Windows Media Player and see if that fixes the problem.

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    a: Exit Windows Media Player.

b:  Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Playerand then click on OK.

c: select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    d:  Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

a: the release of Windows Media Player.

b: click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.

c : select the Media Player folder and then click delete on the file menu.

    d: Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
