  • Addon to remove redirect links of Yahoo Search

I just started to use Yahoo search, and here an addon that removes the links from the search results and just redirect allows me to click on the URL link. When I was with Google, I used difficulty of Wladimir Palant of link Google Search (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-search-link-fix/?src=userprofile), but it does not work on Yahoo.

  • not meet the standards of Yahoo Search

As much as I dislike Google-everything on the Web, just as I don't like Microsoft-everything on my computer, Yahoo search is not very useful. I decided to make my default to Google search on Firefox for the following reason.

Yahoo, when looking for the obscure terms will give me search results that match my mandate to search for a t-shirt, but the results are other search engine results the same question. I found a lot, and when, two too many unknown so far, as well as search engines need to Ask, another useless search engine. A Yahoo search led, and toward an announcement of listing by Ask Yahoo, which in turn led me to, which in turn led me to Ask ~ closed loop.

Google to the opportunity to get together, but I really have to hunt for automatic registration. If I want to find something outside a property owned by Google, I use Google Minus Google search. Actually found a web page of the University that better explained something on a Google service that I find on Google "help". Google search for google minus google to find this one.

I did my default to Google search in the address bar, but I can't select Yahoo in the search bar. I'll give Yahoo a chance from time to time.

For all those who wish to put the default search to Google, simply open the Options and go to the 'search' tab. Select Google or another choice in the first entry. This will outline the default engine for use in the address bar (which Firefox calls the address bar), the search bar and the search fields on the pages of the Firefox Start Page and tabs.

In the following window, deselect the search engines you want to hide from view as alternative choices for use in the search bar.

Screenshot shows me using the window of old style instead of the default Options tab. I have restored only in the words: configuration page using advice found elsewhere in the knowledge base.

My second screen shot is of the search bar, in which I'm looking for "my words here" without the quotes, am clicking on the magnifying glass (black pointer) and displays the current default research and additional choices I have made available for myself.

By clicking on the magnifying glass to view this list, and then clicking on the engine I want to send my search, I come up with this page in the tab search engine I have open results.

  • How the * can I get rid of Yahoo search - Firefox still refuses my changes at the next startup.

    Work in Win10.
Firefox refuses to keep the changes I made to remove Yahoo.
Remove all browsers except Google - next time you start it again Yahoo!
No other browser has been replaced, with the exception of Yahoo.

It's very 'big brother', which I don't expect Firefox.

After spending hours fighting it, I'm at the "tip" of let - pun.

It seems you might have a bit of malicious software on this PC. I see an extension named Hub of results which is known as bearer of Malware.
Why don't you see if removing "garbage" that gets rid of your problem with Yahoo search 'come back' at the next startup, which is a symptom of Malware.
    http://malwaretips.com/blogs/ads-by-see-results-hub-removal/

When finished remove that, please install this extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ - as a final step to get some reset preferences to default values. Note - that extension will run during installation and then disappear.

  • New tabs automatically go to Yahoo search in Firefox 39, I want to stop it.

I'm on Windows with Firefox version 39 10. Everytime I open a new tab, a Yahoo Search page comes up. I deleted all the stuff of Yahoo out of my laptop. I have no Yahoo toolbar, etc. left. I also removed Yahoo as a search engine option. DuckDuckGo is only available for research. I read on some previous posts on how to remove this, but they are all more than 203 years and do not seem to follow the options of version 39. How can I remove this very annoying feature. I don't want to do that, but if I can't solve this problem, I'll start using the edge browser.
On a side note, there is no extensions.netassistant, etc. on this machine. I have crossed in the config and can't find it, and I see nothing in this sense in the programs available for withdrawal. Any help and or insight would be most appreciated.
    Thank you

Here's how you can change your new tab page:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

If the problems persist, some potential diagnoses and remedies:

If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system. This must be removed the control panel. If the status is 'locked' we'll need to help you investigate a configuration file "automatic".

Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: command + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right and turn off (or remove) something unknown.

If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is return to the unwanted page: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

    A little luck?

  • Yahoo Search no longer works

Since the installation of Version 39.0, yahoo search no longer works. It does not connect. I have reset / updated Firefox. Does not help anything. Other search engines work, but not "search.yahoo.com. It works in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox. Any ideas? Thank you.

Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

  • How to remove the default Firefox 38.0.1 yahoo search (Macintosh)

How can I remove the automatic reset of Firefox for the terrible yahoo search engine? I want Google as default search engine. Here's what I've tried:
    a. choose Google over yahoo and then remove the yahoo of preferences: Firefox always springs back to yahoo.
    b. download the app 'Google by default'. It worked on previous versions of Firefox, before V 38.0.1. But it seems that the commercial interests behind now bypassed Firefox that, as well, because that 'Default Google' application now no longer works.
    c. erasing and then re - install the "Google by default" application. No improvement.

Hello, I am wary of some of your extensions, please Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

If the problem is caused by an extension, once it has been removed or disabled, you may need to run SearchReset to restore your settings.

  • I tried all of your corrections but after 2-3 reboots home past to the yahoo search engine - I'm fed up and let Firefox if no solution

I've followed all the patches on your chatline:
At different times, I turned off the graphics accelerator, I cut all add-ons, refreshed firefox, went in firefox safe mode, but even though firefox is returned to normal, after 2-3 restarts if he returned showing on my home page yahoo search engine. I have my own homepage written in HTML and use it on all my browsers for many years. I downloaded Firefox on the Mozilla site (twice) and have never downloaded from a Yahoo site sponsored. I never asked to have Yahoo as my search engine and do not want. I'm getting harder and more fed up with the situation, and if no permanent solution can be found, so I'll let Firefox (after many years of use). Please find a solution!

Thanks to all who offered a solution to my problem, but although some suggestions were given a temporary solution, the problem is back after a short time.
However, I think that I have now found the solution:
Although a spybot check did not find a problem, I searched "Files and folders" in the control panel and found 2 entries for 'the browser extensions' and 'search protection' of a company called "SPIGOT.COM".
I uninstalled both of these applications and it seems completely solved the problem, even after several reboots and cold starts.
I don't know who is this company, have never seen before and never knowingly downloaded something on their part or any partner site.
    So there you have it!
I hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
    Pete.

  • How can I get rid of Yahoo Search. If you do not have an answer that really works, I have to get rid of Firefox!

Simple enough... I want to kill Yahoo search and never see him again!

Unless there is interference from external software or an add-on, Firefox to remember your preferences for your default search engine and can hide the Yahoo Search bar icon. The real Yahoo search engine plugin (XML file) is located in the Firefox program folder and will be restored whenever you update Firefox, so it is not used that much by physically removing.

As Jon mentioned previously, you can select your default search engine and hide the buttons "one-off" undesirable in the dialog box Preferences here (either):

    • '3-bar' menu > Preferences > search
    • Firefox menu > Preferences > search

Now, why would this setting may not be honored? Check if you have picked up additional modules Spigot or a pipe or other elements of mystery. You can open the page modules using either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. Here you can set the non-recognized or non-essential plugins 'Never turn on'.

In the left column, click Extensions. Here, you can disable and remove unwanted or unrecognized extensions often.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

Note: If you got these add-ons in your Firefox, see if you can find how they got on your system. Usually, they accompany something "free" you downloaded and installed, sometimes disclosed and sometimes hidden, and if you don't clean that , too, your Firefox problem may return.

  • 36 Firefox: How can I KEEP my choice of default search engine and Yahoo Search?

Firefox 36 insists now that I use Yahoo search constantly changing my default search engine choice. No matter now many times I put it for Google, I'll get something Yahoo and it's once again. I have Yahoo not checked in the search preferences, hoping that it will not be displayed again. Have restarted Firefox several times. No luck.

My last resort is to REMOVE Yahoo Search my list of search engines to prevent that from happening? I MIGHT want to use some time later, but not every day.

ALSO. If it's important, when I filled this question with 'installed plugins' information on my Mac and Firefox, a witness appeared, so I went to tools > Modules. This screen appeared for a second and instantly has far to another screen: DNS Yahoo Error Handler who had "garmin communicator plugin icon developer" entered in the search query box. My web experience is now taken by Yahoo?

Hmm, it sounds like you have some kind of hijacker in your Firefox. Try this:

Disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • Tools menu > Modules

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off. (Or if it is obviously the badware, delete).

If Firefox is redirected at this point, see the next section.

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Who help me?

If Firefox is unable to use the addons page, you may need to block extensions using the Mode without failure of Firefox. It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

(Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works)

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Can remove you it?

  • When I click on a link in Twitter, Facebook, other, page opens but then goes to Yahoo search. How do I kill who?

I have Google as my default search engine. When I'm in a number of sites and click on a link to open it, the page opens, but only momentarily, and before moving to the browser of Yahoo search for this topic. I would like to prevent that from happening, but don't know how. I'm on a Mac Book Pro OS 10.9.5. This was not the case before the switch to Yahoo as search engine default Firefox.

    Download the Mozilla search reset {web link}
This module is very simple: when installing, it backs up
and then resets your search and home page preferences
at their default values and then to uninstall. This
affects the search bar, search bar URL, and the home page.

First program I have installed is Firefox... and I did have the time in the last three weeks to install anything else.
