Z420 HP: HP Z420 with GPU fanless

Hello

I recently replaced the NVIDIA Quadro 2000 with an area of 750 ZOTAC GTX with passive cooling. Since this change, the rear case fan is running at a very high speed, so that my office is much stronger than usual.

My suspicion is that smart motherboard fan control tries to compensate somehow the "0 fan speed rpm" reported by the GPU - which is quite ok, since the GPU has passive cooling.

This problem is reproducible. As soon as I switch back to NVIDIA Quadro 2000 (with fan), the Office remains almost completely silent.

Is there a way to convince the motherboard just ignore missing the fan speed of the passive cooled graphics card so that the rear fan is silent?

Thank you

Helge

BambiBoom_Z,

You're right, it is interesting.

The hearts of processors have a maximum of 51 C.

Tonite, I will get a GTX 950 with the fans for the tests. If he succeeds, I drop just the GTX fan.

Thank you for your support.

See you soon,.
Helge

  • Develop gets another color profile with GPU speed

I had problems after the last update of Lightroom CC 2015.5.1 version:

    1. I lost my color profiles. I know how to solve this problem, it is not a point of interest;

    2. I see different colors in library mode and develop with GPU acceleration mode on. It's the same situation with regard to the FIRST both in regards to JPEG files. It can be fixed only by disabling GPU acceleration which is not a better way.

Did anyone get the same problem with the last CC Lr? How do solve you?

See this post for a possible solution: library vs Developping

You probably have a faulty monitor profile.

  • SpeedGrade CC 2014.2 build 8.2x51 reading smoothing / jerky 4K with GPU R9 295 x 2 - it uses only 2 GB of RAM (8.1 Windows 64-bit), Mac OS - same problem

    Hello, guys

    I have following configuration:

    I7-5960 x 4.3 GHz

    32 GB DDR4 RAM

ATI 295 x 2 8 GB (Gpusniffer.exe watch 3072 MB on each unit of Hawaii)

    Samsung XP941 Ultra M.2 (> 1000 Mb/s)

    Some 850 Pro SSD for H.264 4 k source

Latest version of Speedgrade CC 16/02/2015 (DUAL MONITOR SETUP - 2560 x 1440 for Interface and 4096 x 2160 for previewing)

I work with a lot of short 10-15 seconds 4 K 4096 x 2160 24 fps H.264 clips of Panasonic GH4. Import their first CC as some stabilization warp, cut them, save the project and opened in Speedgrade CC all are fantastic smooth in first CC.

Speedgrade - a simple color - exhibition, some keyframes and simple scoring correction for certain substances. I use the GPU acceleration for sure have lots of 4096 x 2160 4K 24 fps. But it is not flexible and smooth after that a correction is applied. Everything is jerky and freezes the first seconds, when I press 'PLAY'. I used resources, the Manager monitor tasks (Winodws 8.1 64-bit) and Afterburner. And there's what I discovered:

    • Afterburner shows the use of mono-GPU (as we know it for playback only 1 GPU used) the same amount as in first. SpeedGrade CC use 2, 5 GB of VRAM. Also, if I use one zero effect - accelerating gpu, like "transform", for example, imported first, I get "not enough GPU resources" message in Speedgrade. Afterburner shows, CC Speedgrade tried to use more, and then Max 3GB available VRAM during that time. So I turn off these effects, before you open a project in Speedgrade.

    • CPU is low (15%) use, perhaps a little lower, then in the first CC

    • Disc - 3-10%, H.264 is weak on this subject

    • RAM! -is the problem. I have been authorized to use the 29 GB of RAM for Adobe apps. Speedgrade CC use no more then 2-3 GB according to the the Task Manager (for most 2 GB) and 8.1 Windows resource monitor 64-bit Pro. After I finished with the color correction, a project open in first DC, work with lumteri on smooth and! First CC use 9 to 10 GB of RAM to play the same music video in full resolution smoothly!

I already reinstalled everything, including drivers for the GPU, 8.1 for Windows and Adobe CC even result.

    MacBook Pro 15 retina end 2013 with i7-4960HQ/16 GB of RAM/Geforce 750 m UPDATE!

Under Mac Os Yosemite 10.10.2 - same situation here. First CC use 5 GB (of 11 GB of available) 4096 x 2160 Prores 422 HQ and is usable, smooth with a few drops of frame.

SpeedGrade CC uses 2.5 GB RAM of 4096 x 2160 and it is impossible to use plenty of 4096 x 2160. Only 1/2 resolution of overview is smooth and usable on the screen of the laptop. 4096 x 2160 externally connected through Thunderbolt monitor, it's a lot rougher, I think it's hard for 750 m with 2 GB of VRAM.

UPDATE! Previous version (CC 2014) of first CC and CC Speedgrade Windows 8.1 64-bit - even situation.

    What do you think?

My opinion - Speedgrade CC is not optimized for 4K resolution. First CC is good for 4K.

BTW, for more information, latest AMD catalyst driver 14.12 omega has a problem with my R9 295 x 2 and engine reading Mercury (MPE) OpenCL - just black with sound screen, when I turn on the GPU acceleration. So I use the previous version of 14.9. With 14.12 GPUsniffer.exe found a device with 4 GB of VRAM GPU and a GPU with 3 GB of VRAM (normally obligatorily 3 + 3 GB 295 x 2 Dual GPU radeon chip).

    Yes

So, finally, Speedgrade CC works 95% smooth time with 4096 * 2160 H.264. But it was necessary to turn off all effects in first Pro CC. Nothing new. I found a few discussions on this fact, but after that I spent some time with experiences.

Stabilizer Warp even alone is enough to make Speedgrade CC really agitated. 'Transform' effect simply blocks Speedgrade CC with "GPU resources.

Each effect uses some VRAM (for Warp stabilizer 200-300 MB). After you have disabled all effects had load VRAM under/near 2 GB for the little clip 4096 * 2160.

First CC flies simply with unique x 290 or 295 x 2 (which is the only x 290 during playback). Even 3GB VRAM available software Adobe CC.

PS Macbook Pro retina 15 "with Geforce 750 M 2 GB VRAM would work smoothly with Prores to half a preview/playback resolution - 2048 * 1080. CC CC SpeedGrade or Premiere Pro with 1/2.

  • HP Z420 with Nvidia Gtx Titan

    Hello

I considered buying a Z420, and I intend to use maps of Titan since I rendered by GPU, as well as the CAD uses and in real time. (Autocad, Revit and 3d Max). I've used a Quadro 4000 card, but it is certainly not useful for real time rendering.

So in my case, a map of Titan is more advantageous. But today, I realized this of Nvidia Geforce series only is not supported for HP workstations. So, what should I do? Is there a way to use Titan with Z420? Should I look for another computer?

    Thanks in advance...

GTX Titan uses the 250W peak power and NVidia said a 600W PSU enough Z420 has a 600W PSU. So unless you have something else really your Z420 (such as five 15 K disks without spin shifted upwards) - the lust for power, you should be fine.

Personally, I have not used a Titan in a Z420 (GTX - 680 was the largest map that I installed) - once again - it looks good on paper.

HP will not support it in terms of pilots or guarantee-, but it will take care the rest of the system.

All that being said, a Z820 is a bit better suited to the Titan GTX...

The problem for me is I didn't this problem because it was not until October 2015, of which he appeared on my iMac and it seems articles than apples without difficulty / replacement program ended in March 2015.

I was wondering so that no fault of my own not knowing not this problem existed (after all how could I that the problem never arose for me until October 2105) that if Apple could let me know if maybe my iMac may still be repaired by Apple of the known program of the cause and the replacement , or least to have Apple repair my iMac at a discount price for what is after all a machine that was sold by Apple, but later identified by Apple as having a known issue with the bulk of this material.

Ask you here as a last resort to try to save this expensive (for me) piece of kit that I got some quotes given by computer repair specialists to repair this iMac ranging more than £650 to well over 800 pounds, which, at these prices, for would make me a repair totally impossible for me to pay even less justified.

Can anyone Apple please comment on this issue and tell me that maybe there's a chance that I can have this repair performed by Apple either free or at a fair price because it is such a shame to see such a great computer basically end up on the scrap heap, thank you.

A powerful message, but this is a user to user forum. It is highly unlikely that anyone from Apple will never see your message.

  • Laptop G62-a50EV: problem with GPU drivers! :/

    Hey guys,.

I currently installed windows 8.1 x 64 OS on a laptop OS from windows 7 to the previous address. Problem is that none of my cards (AMD/ATI Radeon HD5470 & Intel HD graphics card) are properly recognized by the system. Whenever I try to install AMD external links and no HP drivers, nothing happens... It goes the same for Intel drivers. Whenever I have install the drivers from the HP official site... AMD catalyst center works but gpu itself does not react as stays in 1024 x 768 and League of Legends game drops to 4 frames per second (I use it asa pointer of the problem). As for when I try to install the driver of HP Intel... then I get the black screen on reboot blue screen that prompts me to either reboot the machine again or try to fix the problem as a user advanced... I hope I did a system restore point that I knew that this can happen! Any suggestions?

P.S tried 4 times still the same result with driver intel. In regards to the AMD hope is lost... I even do not have a valid driver not always by AMD for the current gpu...

    Hi there @Johnianos

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I understand that you are having problems with video drivers after installing Windows 8.1 on your laptop. I'm happy to help you with this. After doing some research, it seems that the Windows 8.1 is not an operating system that is supported for this laptop. Custom HP drivers are only available for the Windows 7 operating system.

Please see what follows, for some guidance.  Products HP - what happens if I do not see my operating system?

  • Issues coming out of "sleep mode" and strange behavior when restarting with GPU

I use a desktop computer HP P7-1240 completely stock except for a GPU EVGA GeForce GTX 750 TI SC. The GPU works well when the computer is running (which is strange because the forums have several other discussions mentioning the 700 series must be incompatible with my BIOS).

However, there are two main strange problems that have arisen since the installation of the GPU. One is that, every time that the computer enters mode "sleep", he refuses to wake back up correctly. It seems to me that the computer active but sends all the signals back panel (at the very least, no video because my monitors remain blank). On rare occasions, he wakes back correctly, but at least 90% of the time, it must be restarted. Upon reboot, the same problem sometimes (not), and the computer must be rebooted a second time until it will start again.

This leads to the second problem. During startup, the computer goes to a black screen, listing the specifications of basic computer skills (see attached photo. In this screen, the computer does not meet any entry.  He proceeds to beep 3 times, all the same length and height spaced about 30 seconds of gap. After the third beep, the screen goes black and then the computer starts normally with no other strange behavior.

Without the GPU, none of these problems occur. At the very least, not regularly.

I saw another thread mentioned that, while the HP support for my office page lists not her, there is an update of the BIOS for my motherboard which has fixed issues related to the GPU more modern. By nature it is an update of the BIOS that does not (seem to) officially support Windows 7, I am reluctant to go forward with this potential solution.

Although I intend to build myself a new computer from scratch at a certain point, I was hoping to get at least another year out of this machine, if not 2.  While this question does not seem to be immediately threatening the stability of the computer, I can't help but think that it is a question should I go quickly to avoid future problems (not to mention it would save me a good amount of electricity to be able to enter the mode 'sleep' on a regular basis).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Problem has been solved!

For those of you who have trouble sleeping with the p7-1240 or computers with a card mother identical (MSI Jasmine Ms 7778 ver 1.0), I suggest that you follow this thread:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/unable-to-boot-with-new-graphics-card/TD-p/3930544/highlight/true

It is to use an update for your BIOS that is intended only for PC under Windows 8, but that seems to work perfectly well with Windows 7 PC. It solved my problems of sleep and makes the computer to behave at least semi normally while restarting.

However, as indicated in the wire, an update of the BIOS should be a last resort because it can turn your machine into a very heavy and expensive paperweight if something does not work. Do not forget that you have the worm 1.0 card mother MSI Ms 7778 Jasmine and remember that you update the BIOS version 8.18.

As I am looking for 2aeo on HP.com currently (according to the thread leading up to), I'm not find the same links I found last week when I went through the update. However, you can find elsewhere.

The short answer, I think, it's 'no'... the GPU is integrated on the motherboard.  Sometimes I know what my Go5700 NVIDIA (same zd7000) fried itself a few years ago, and now I am trying to find a replacement motherboard.  There are other options of motherboard using other GPU (especially from NVIDIA, but also that of ATI), but I understand, none of them are supposed to be as good as the Go5700.

  • XPS 17 L702x - problem with GPU - screenshots inside!

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS L702X of 17 "and my GPU is not used by my applications/games. Instead, it uses the Intel HD 3000 chipset, even when I run on the power configuration high performance and when I whitelist enforcement in the nVidia control panel.

I did a fresh install of Windows x 64 Pro Edition.

The laptop came with the A14 bios version. I found an update of the Bios Version on your website and flashed my Bios. This does not help, and this version is no longer on your Web site.

I tried to install the nVidia drivers present on the CD that came with the laptop, my system was not reckognized.

I changed the file nvam.inf to fool the installer to accept my system, and the driver has been installed successfully. The problem is still there.

I installed the nVidia drivers 290,36 (beta) by using the same trick, it still does not work.

I tried to call the tech support of my coutry (France) and they say they'll call me back today (because they had database problems yesterday), but they did not. Their offices are now closed.

  • Resolution of the iPad Cross with GPU rendermode

Using Flash CS6 and latest air sdk v14.

My air of 1024 x 768 for the iPad app wins a dramatic performance gain when the GPU rendering mode is enabled. However, if I set a high resolution the app is only half the size of the screen on the new iPads of 2048 x 1536, and if I've upgraded the quality is bad.

Direct and modes of rendering cpu have pretty bad performance on all iPads. It's just very simple app, just buttons images and videos in their simplest form with a few page in and out tweens...

Is there any solution to get good performance and quality on the two resolutions of the iPad?

  • Z61m 9450-36u with GPU ATI x 1400 - fried GPU?

So I got a z61m 9450-36u for a few years and at some point the GPU went nutso.   I checked that the problem is not the screen using the VGA output and seeing the same symptoms externally.  The symptoms are:

-a few vertical lines spaced regularly and points start Thinkpad screen as well as in the Windows XP logo splash screen.

-J' I dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu.  After start of the standard, the two super slow turn, namely that nothing ever happens again, but the computer is not technically frozen.  I think that it is when the system tries to use the video sped up instead of the generic software video (well, I dating myself - never had much of a person GPU in any case).

-Once this happens, only a hard stop puts it out of its misery.

-Regular VESA drivers decommissioning works, and in Ubuntu I can not even the good 1680 x 1050 - is usable, but obviously not for video.

-The BIOS is the last one - 2.29 if I remember correctly.

-The warranty has expired centuries ago (technically not a symptom).

Yet once, it certainly isn't a display or view controller problem, although I suppose it could be a problem with something other than the GPU.  I inspected motherboard and not seen any obvious damage.

I couldn't help noticing that replace the motherboard charge, nearly as much as a new laptop and it would be stupid to go over there with a 3 year machine, so I wonder if anyone has any advice for last minute before you take one last shot at it and preheat the oven to 385F to give it a nice 8 minutes to roast ( http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=606658 ).

I'm a big supporter of Thinkpad and a former employee of IBM (and someone in my family worked for them for 30 years), if that helps anyone in support of being very nice to me.  Maybe that Lenovo has a couple additional 41w1292 out in the shed?

A lot of people, I went ahead today, ignoring the very advice to not cook my old motherboard, and I'm here to say...

    IT WORKED!

I am absolutely amazed.  I don't know if it will last a week, (I got a replacement for a year anyway) but in the immediate future to all least, my problems are solved.  Amazing!

Not only that, but it seems to work pomp rthan never (or else I forgot how fast he was at first.  That might have something to do with the new layer of thermal paste.  Anyway - I'm absolutely astonished.

Now, I just need to figure out why I have 5 or 6 additional screws.

I tried the two GPU CUDA and OpenCL acceleration modes. I get the same result with each. When I use the software only everything seems normal. Is this a bug or a limitation? Is there something I can do to keep the advantage of gpu acceleration?
