• Question of firmware update hard drives/RAID

  We have a Server Power Edge R210II with OS MS Server 2008R2 and a Controller PERC H200 RAID (two disc HARD 1 TB Seagate SATA in RAID1).
  Recently, there is a new firmware for Seagate drives on a dell (Package update for MS Windows) support site.
  I really don't want to lose the server :) and never update firmware on the disks on the server with RAID (I've updated the players only on PC).
  Can someone tell me a procedure to update the firmware on my drives? Problems with the upgrade, best practices etc?

  Best practices:

  • First have a backup. Should data not destructive, but everything can happen.
  • Use SUU or Repository Manager to update ALL of your system - iDRAC/BIOS firmware, PERC and other firmware must be updated before the firmware of the HARD drive.

  Most HARD drive firmware updates are bootable, so you just get the utility boot and update.

  You cannot update firmware of the drive not Dell with Dell firmware (i.e. If you bought the retail/generic readers).

It is running version 4.0.0.6 image, which I'm sure is super old account because I no longer display it in the list of versions of firmware. My question is this - if upgrade US 4.0.0.6 to the latest firmware of the 5.1.6.3, A19, we will have problems with the current configuration, given that we take it a great leap forward? Or would it be better to just update in increments from the firmware available earlier? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  4.x.x.x firmware is older, but you should have no problem go directly to the new firmware. I'll make sure that you have a backup of the running configuration, and then follow the update instructions included with the firmware download. Here is the link to the firmware, just in case you need it.

• Satellite Pro A300 PSAG9E - unable to update firmware

  It has come to my attention that my laptop will not install updates of the firmware.
  I tried all updates firmware on the Web from Toshiba site and on-site support for other countries but still no luck.

  My laptop is a series of Satellite Pro A300 PSAG9E and when I try and install a firmware update a box telling me it's not compatible with my system.
  I checked the version proposed by the pdf file and I know that it is the basic version before the update, and I'm sure I have install the correct way of m.
  So I don't know what goes wrong.

  Does anyone else have this problem or knows something that could solve this problem? Because I'm at a total loss.

  This isn't a good idea to remove these files, these files are responsible for the update of windows.

  We have 6 PE1950 server with SAS PERC 5 / i integrated RAID controllers. Dell OpenManage complains about being obsolete PERC firmware. 2 servers I currently have running, firmware 5.2.1 - 0062 and 5.1.1 - 0040. I downloaded the latest version of 5.2.2 - 0072.   I was watching the forums and came across your question. Ask yourself if you have solved your problem of port when you use plugin manager of OneCommand to vCenter Server? I have seen that HP has two downloads for the fw updates. For now, the last FW update to CN1000E is 4.0.493.0 March 12, 2012. Call the Emulex support if you experience problems when you try to update the fw with the Emulex OneCommand Manager application or the plug-in. But just make sure you are tested and approved HP FW by downloading the files from their site.
