  • Dear gurus: help with options for upgrading memory on the DV7-1235dx

I recently bought a used DV7-1235dx and that you want to update the 8 GB RAM, but I'm having a hard time figuring exactly what memory modules are the best for this problem (in a sense general - I don't want to say the brand, well that thoughts on that are welcome, too). I have Windows 7 64 bit. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Hello:

I suggest that you run the tool free to advise on the Crucial.com memory and it will tell you what memory you need to buy for your PC:

    http://www.crucial.com/?CPE=pd_msn_us & ef_id=k7hN@oYZUgUAAMO8:20110616224741:s

From what I could find on my own, I think you would need to PC2-6400 for your machine, but leave the scanner tool do its thing to confirm.

I've always bought Crucial memory, but for a 4 GB chip, it's quite expensive.

So, I found that the Patriot memory is a lot cheaper and it works great! I put the chip 2 x 4 GB Patriot in my HP Elitebook 6930p and chips Patriot 2 x 4 GB in HP Elitebook son 6910p.

I just bought a brand new HP Elite 8200 CMT. It came with 4 GB memory ddr3. I bought a chip of Patriot 4 GB and it works fine. Because the chip worked, I just ordered two other max out this new box.

Here is the link to the place, I had my Patriot laptop memory if the crucial scanner confirms that this is what you need. You can also read all the comments of consumers who bought the memory.

  • DV7 (4073nr) memory upgrade problems...

I've tried so my RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB.  I have a DV7 4073nr, and I just downloaded the latest update of the BIOS (F.29).  My system starts but I get intermittent BSOD.  Not funny.  I ran the system diagnostics and I get failures of memory in the memory Test option and the system developed, but it passes the test of the BIOS (F10) and all of the submissions are recognized by the BIOS and Windows.

For all this, I don't think it's the memory...  I have two sets of sticks of 8 GB (2x4gb) where I worked with, Crucial and Kingston.  Two are speed 1333 (10600), and identical to the specifications proposed by the Crucial.com site.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

    Well...

I don't think I'm quite out of the woods yet.  Last night, I booted up and got a BSOD on trying to open Internet Explorer (v.9).  Rebooted my system and it worked without incident through the rest of the evening.

Until I stop, I put Norton 360 to run its set of scans and tasks, a weekly process and let it run.  This morning, there is no other incident, but I can't help thinking that the system seems slow.

I'll call this request closed for the moment.  I was thinking about an SSD as the next update, but now I'm reconsidering.

Oh well, thanks for your help,.

  • Pavilion dv7 - 1247cl: upgrade memory dv7 - 1247cl

It is my understanding that my Pavilion dv7 - 1247cl can support up to 8 GB memory max.  The laptop will support a 8gig stick, or should it be 2 4 gig sticks?  In addition, if it supports a key of 8 GB, the memory would work faster compared to the two port?

It's DDR2-800 SO-DIMM memory. I don't think they ever done 8 sticks of concert of this type of memory and if they did, it would be very expensive. The best price I could find on the last person who asked about the DDR2-800 memory for a kit of 2 x 4 GB (8 GB total) exceeded $150:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Komputerbay-PC2-6400-DDR2-800-SODIMM-channel/DP/B003D18Q7W/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&QID=1419373144&SR=8-6&keywords=DDR2-800+so-DIMM

2 identical modules will run in mode dual channel which is about 8 to 10% of the memory faster performance.  So 2 x 4 is faster that 1 x 8 would be, if there was even such a thing as a module of 8 GB, I think not there.

I don't think that the difference between 4 and 8 GB is going to be worth $ 155, personally.

  • HP pavilion dv7 1260us: upgrade memory and processor for hp pavilion dv7 1260us

I was wondering if possible to upgrade my memory and processor... hp pavilion dv7 1260us?

    Here are the specs:

    Plug

You have an AMD Turion RM-74 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The RAM is DDR2 and it may take 8 GB of DDR2, but that the memory of any reputable vendor is crazy expensive, like $150 ++ for 2 x 4 gig modules.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The top of the page compatible processor is an AMD Turion™ Ultra Dual-Core 35W ZM-86 2.40 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache

If you want to go from 2.2 ghz to 1 meg to 2.4 ghz with 2 MB of L2 cache L2 cache, may be a treatment of 20% energy improvement. Not enough, IMO, to justify the difficulty because it is still not in the ballpark of machines of today.

You can buy the processor from a dealer renowned for $15 with free shipping. That should tell you what the demand is for her. Basically obsolete.

I replaced motherboards in several series dv7-1000, and it is one of the harder to take apart laptops. Many cables in strange tablecloth and Remora in all directions.

We are ready to help in any way possible with the upgrade, but in this case probably the best advice that I can give you is "don't".

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6c05ev: upgrade memory (M471B5273DH0-CK0 to M471B5173QHO-YK0?)

    Hi all!

I have a Pavillion DV7-6c05ev. The product number is A8V36EA-B1A.  I'm trying to upgrade memory. On board, there are two modules of 1.5 volt. (2 GB Samsung M471B5773DH0-CH9 and 4 GB Samsung M471B5273DH0-CK0 and they work ofal channel). I am buying a second module M471B5273DH0-CK0, to have 8 GB dual channel.  I ordered a new, but I got a Samsung M471B5173QHO-YK0 instead of CK0. The YKO runs on 1.35 v and 1.5V, but I'm afraid to pair them up, because maybe something could go wrong with tensions. I found another store and ordered again CK0, but again, I received YKO. So now I have two new YKO. What do you think is it safe combine the old with the new KATE CKO (sellers insist that KATE is the replacement of CKO and will work fine on 1.5V, it will automatically choose the correct voltage. And the other question is, as long as I have two YKO, can I use these two as a pair?  There are exactly the same, but it is made in China and one in the Philippines, but I don't think it's a problem. And replace the two old memories? Is the compatible with my model M471B5173QHO-YK0?

(I found another seller with CKO, but I did not want to risk again. From what I understand, they have the old code on their pc, but there is a new, replacement, M471B5173QHO-YK0, and they ship the other. The question is if I can match up with the old CKO and return the second YKO, or keep two YKO and use them with my laptop).

    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards

    Zeta

No this is essentially the same thing. The 11 first is the latency CASE and the second number is not really speeds, but the SPD versions and then the B4 is just an internal reference to manufacturers for the memory form factor. The computer will see these 2 identical modules.

  • Pavilion dv7-7180eb: memory Discrete vs UMA

The fan on my laptop is dying and needs to be replaced. I found a hp repair manual, but it indicates two reference numbers:

    with discrete memory 682179-001
To be used on the computer equipped with an AMD processor and a graphics subsystem models

This has been asked before, but responses were specific to specific machines for the plaintiffs. Is there a way to tell? (may be useful for people stumbling on this thread in the future...)

    So does that mean?

This means that your notebook is a discrete graphics solution and not UMA graphics card.

Your laptop has an Intel processor chipset and Intel HM77 as described in the following specifications document?

    Hello

1 USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 for a laptop is a change that is very expensive because it will affect to the motherboard to change USB card and even the motherboard itself.

2 RAM: Yes, you can jump to 8 GB of RAM:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c02575528

Please use Crucial tool, it will scan your machine and tell you RAM adapted. You can buy here or use the information to buy elsewhere:

3 SSD: Your current HARD drive is very good. If you want to upgrade to an SSD, you can go to her but interms performance/price, that's a little overkilled.

  • Upgrading memory Sodimm DDR3 in my PAvilion dv7 - 7023cl

    Hello

I want to upgrade the memory of my laptop Pavilion dv7 - 7023cl. Now I have two modules sodimm Micron; one of the 2 GB 1RX8 PC3L - 12800S - 11 - 11B 2. I would like to know if I can replace it with a 8 GB Super Talent Module that has the following characteristics:

    • Part number: W1600SB8GV
    • Type: DDR3 SODIMM
    • Capacity: 8 GB
    • Speed: PC12800 1600 MHz
    • Size & Bit: 512Mx8
    • Pines: 204pin
    • ECC: NO.
    • Registered: NO.
    • CL11, 1.5V

Another option is a 8 GB module, which has the following features:

Product description DDR3 8 GB 1600 Mhz SODIMM PC - 12800 RAM storage capacity 8 GB technology DDR3 SDRAM form factor SO-DIMM memory speed 1600 MHz (PC-12800) Type Dimm without BUFFER SO-DIMM support ECC NON ECC FWH Chip Configuration 16 512 X 8 C voltage 1.5V 204

    Thank you very much!

Lol your laptop computer using PC3L... low voltage 1.35 volts and both those you have questions on clearly say 1.5 volt. Just in general there is no advantage to opt out of 'games' or 'performance' memory on consumer laptops. The systems are designed to work with conservative settings according to the distribution of the masses.

Your laptop will accept 16 GB of RAM, but I would say go to crucial.com and look for a guaranteed memory compatible with your laptop. You're better off with 2 identical sticks of memory because you will then have the mode "dual channel" which is a bit faster.

  • Pavillian Dv7-3085dx: memory upgrade

I have Dv7-3085dx with intel 1.6 Ghz processor. The manual indicates memory max is 8 GB, but I noticed in several of the questions forum upgrades memory 16 GB is possible. Which also apply to my model?

    Thank you

    Of your maintenance manual:

Supports the 1066 MHz DDR3, up to 8 GB of RAM in the following configurations: ■ total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel)

16 gigs is compatible only with the dv7 models later. 8 gigs is still plenty of RAM, and very few users really need more than 8 GB.
