10g Dataguard Maximum performance mode

Dear all,

I've set up dataguard.i have doubts

By mistake I opened to sleep with just start command. What will be the impact? Was this a read-only mode? And then I put it in the fold and the recovery mode, it is configurable archive.

Concerning

Yes, if you cancel the recovery and stop and start a day before, he made a default OPEN READ ONLY.

  • Question about the MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE mode

An excerpt of the ML note: 239100.1

To participate in maximum performance the following requirements must be met:

Redo Archival Process : LGWR or ARCH
Network Transmission mode : ASYNC when using LGWR only
        Disk Write Option : NOAFFIRM
Standby Redo Logs : No, but recommended and required for Real-Time Apply
    What is
    Standby Redo Logs : No
What means? Cannot create a database without Online redo logs. Right?

Standby Redo Logs are not the same as online newspapers. They are used only in the role of Eve (by RFS background process) to allow primary LGWR.
You always want to create them regardless of the level of protection. They are (in theory) an option with Max Performance.

  • A maximum performance and sync lgwr claim

I put the database in maximum performance mode, but the destination is configured as a SYNC AFFIRM LGWR. I have 2 Eve and pending recovery logs is present in the data pending. Ideally commits should not wait to do it again passed in sleep mode, as this is the maximum performance mode, but it seems that the ccommits are waiting before they get expired after 30 seconds. This is the expected behavior? Destination attributes override the protection mode?

    Thank you

You see the expected behavior. The protection mode is an attribute of the database that adjust you with ALTER DATABASE, while the transmission of roll forward is an attribute of the instance that you need to change to LGWR ASYNC NOAFFIRM with ALTER SYSTEM.

  • Doubt on the performance mode maximum dataguard

    HI gurus,

We have a dataguard environment configured in 12.1.0.2.0 on 5.6 OEL. DataGuard is configured in maximum performance using following congiguration,

    18:26:26 SQL > show parameter log_archive_dest_2

    VALUE OF TYPE NAME

    ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------

    string LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 = TGOID NOAFFIRM LGWR ASYNC COMPRESSION service = ENABLE VALID_FOR =(ALL_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME = TGOID

Here I used LGWR ASYNC and enabled real-time apply to my waiting to help,

    SQl > alter recover managed standby database disconnect log file using current;

    Here are my doubts,

    1. If we allow real time apply, the changes will reflect on the eve when a commit happens in elementary school. is this correct?

But here I do not see this behavior, changes are get applied to the previous day only when I do a log switch. (as in the case of the mode of transport ARCH)

    2. so, if I want to get changes made to the previous day when a commit happens at the elementary level, is I need to set the following?

    First of all,

    ALTER system set log_archive_dest_2 = service = TGOID ASSERT LGWR SYNC COMPRESSION = ENABLE VALID_FOR = (ALL_LOGFILES, PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME = TGOID scope = both;

    Secondly,.

ALTER DATABASE BASE_DE_DONNEES SLEEP TOGETHER IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE THE AVAILABILITY/MAXIMIZE PROTECTION.

    is this correct?

3 if its OK what is the advantage of using lgwr async in maximum performance? then, what is meant by real time applies to maximum performance?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Mahi

If you want the data validated to be simultaneous on two sites, use maximum availability (or maximum Protection).  The 'risk' with maximum Protection, it is that if the network link fails or breaks down the day before or the day before is not able to write it again received, the primary has put an end.  The 'advantage' (but also the 'risk' If you keep monitoring it) with maximum availability is the primary can return to maximum Performance If the night before does more (for any of the reasons stated in the first sentence)

Allow standby redo logs Oracle to write again to the backup site without waiting that the primary archive the Redo Log.  If your primary online Redo log is archived every 30 minutes and you only run on base ARCH, you may lose 30 minutes of transactions.

  • Question about the Maximum protection mode

DB version: 11.2.0.4 3-node RAC (primary)
    Platform: Oracle Linux 6.4

We are at the stage of the design of our installation of DR. This particular DB stores retail banking information. Each transaction is important.
So, we thought to have standby mode Maximum protection for our side. We have a good network of low latency. We expect not to have as a standby DB.

    Question1.
Lets say we have several sessions connected to the primary DB. In A meeting, for a particular Transaction if for any reason any primary DB gets acknowlegment on standby it again is applied while the session will hang. Right? What other sessions connected to the DB? They all have to wait until the transaction of A Session receives a confirmation of sleep, that take effect pending?

Question2. Is there any circumstance that the primary DB stops due to lack of transportation again in Maximum protection mode?

    Hello;

  • The difference b/w maximum performance and maximum availability

    Hello

What is the basic difference b/w maximum performance and maximum availability.
If maximum performance scenarios is used and ensures db stops, changes in the primary db will apply to the next time you start backup db.

    Thanx

    Hello

I have read all answer your thread.

If you create a broker - managed DataGuard configuration, you can use
quick start failover (FSFO) for your dataguard.
When your primary is down, your sleep will change primary role.

    Hello

It seems like your laptop is overheating. You should check the cooling module if possible works with maximum performance. In addition, you can try to clean the fans with the vacuum cleaner. Especially fans can not work properly because of the dust inside the laptop.

In addition, you can also check the settings for standby power. The cooling module must be set to max.

  • How to play games with maximum performance?

    Hello
There is a problem with my laptop (HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx Entertainment PC) performance, the gmes are really slow, my brother has a HP Pavillion dv6 and it supports all types of games, I may know the answer, when it plug the charger the whole screen goes black and then return in 1 second and then he can play games.

The dm4 is better than the dv6, but I think the dv6 supports ATI Readon Mobility when plug it in the charger, but I can not activate my Readon SMA so I guess how to use performance professionalism when I plug the charger.

    I've tried so far things:

The advanced 1) Changed power settings and selecting maximum performance when I plug in the charger.
    (2) Changed the graph options, Intel Graphics Media Panel and the maximum performance when connected to the charger.

Looks like its included video card is much more powerful than the included Intel graphic card using your laptop. Who can make a huge difference in the game.

  • maximum performance for storage

    Hello Experts,

I am in the phase of implementation of a new box of EMC for the database (oracle10g) of production. We are going to implement of the ASM.what is the best arrangement of the discs to be implemented to obtain maximum performance, the administartion and redundancy of the Oracle view?

    Thank you

If we implement hardware lavel, sayRAID10 storage level itself then what level of redundancy should be used in ASM?

It depends on. You must select external redundancy only if your storage space is available. With external redundancy, your storage space is (potentially) a single point of failure.
If you want to mirror your data between two storage (so you can fail with no impact on your database), you must select NORMAL redundancy.

  • Catalyst 4506-E, how to change places in performance mode

    Hi all

I'm going to set up two Catalyst 4506-E with SUP-7th for VSS,

    cat4500e being run-universal. Spa.03.05.01.E.152 - 1.E1.bin and newer ROMMON.

It is also installed in each of them a WS - X 4712-SFP + E.

    For the VSL I want to use a port 10Gig SUP and port 10Gig on the WS - X 4712 - SFP + E.

    Given that the WS - X 4712-SFP + E ports are oversubscribed (2, 5:1) by default.
I would like to reconfigure this performance (for one of the groups of four port) mode.

The commands I've seen this days, but unfortunately can't remember where... :-(

There are many examples for the 65xx but not for the 45xx.

Can someone please what are the correct orders?

    Thanks for the tips

    concerning

    Klaus

    Hello

I don't know or at least have not seen this available on a map of line 4500 VSS command option, now, as you know there are 12 ports on the 4712 in 4 groups of 3 ports ports of each. You must select a port from each group for 10G, will give you no blocking 4x10G performance.

    Select a port in the port groups (1-3), (4-6), (7-9), (10-12).

If you use a 10 G, two other ports within the same group of port will be 1 G, then you end up with 12Gbps by port group which is the bottom connection of basket, turning the card in full non-sursouscrit mode.

    A point on the 4712 - it only works on 4507R 4503-E, 4506-E + E and 4510R chassis E. It does not work in the 4507/4510R-E chassis.

    I hope this helps.

  • Forms 10g / 11g in Servlet mode vs. shooting mode.

    Hello

We are trying to push to the top of oracle forms 10g / 11g performance due to network latency problem. I read that we can also run Oracle Forms 11 g / 10g in the current shooting mode which uses 40% less bandwidth, but it comes together with EBS R12. ( http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2009/06/which_is_better_forms_servlet_or_socket_mode.html )

I want to know that can we run that Oracle Forms 11 g / 10 g in socket mode. In the affirmative. Please provide the configuration forms11g / 10g in socket mode.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Noman

Be careful here - performance problems may be the result of many issues - provides a little less network in terms of physical bytes (bytes can be physical?), but which does not always improve performance. You also have other potential problems, for example, if you have any firewall or proxy on your network.

Bottom line is that for customers not apps you are not supported to run in shooting mode - and even once, even if you were, he could not help you.

  • B200 M3 memory stuck at 1333 MHz in performance mode

    Hello

We have 2 B200 M3s in a new deployment running 2.0(3a). The B200s are configured with 64 GB using DIMMs of 8 GB, using BANK 0 of each channel. We deployed a policy of BIOS specifying performance for LV DDR mode and confirmed this setting takes effect in the BIOS, but the memory continues to run at 1333 MHz. When we look at the inventory server, the DIMMs are reported as 8GB 1600 MHz DIMM dual rank. We tried forcing the DIMMs in mode low voltage and return to the mode of performance without result.

In other UCS environments, we have deployed these same blades with the same configuration of the memory and BIOS policy and had no problem getting the RAM at full speed. We do not use any kind of power is corking.

    Thoughts?

    Hi Brad,

What is CPU?  support for the B200-M3 CPU 3 do not support the 1600 Mhz:

  • DataGuard - choose between Modes

Setting up ORACLE DATAGAURD, how to choose between Max Protection, Max availability and Performance Max.

Based on what factors, these are determined

    Hello

    you have three options

Performance of Max is a Mode of ALL

Availability of Max is a SYNCHRONIZATION Mode

Max Protection is also a SYNC Mode,

For Max Availabilty and Max Protection, you need to configure standby Redo Logs.

For most of the cases the availability of Max in Data Guard Mode is very good.

Max Protection is very critical, while if you can reach the data base can be while the network has a failure or bad weather of latency from the primary database will stop.

Then also take a look at MOS: TRANSPORT: Modes of Data Protection Guard (Doc ID 239100.1)

So, what are the requirements of your project and look at your infrastructure?

Yes, uninstall HP Power Manager, and then use the previous procedure to repair your power options again.  I've seen this problem on a couple of machines, so my best advice would be do not again to install HPPM - at the end of the day, the options provided by Windows offer a good degree of customization.
