Hello
Well, have you tried to remove the DVD drive of the device?
You must remove the drive from Device Manager. After the restart of the unit of the OS will recognize the DVD player again. Perhaps this procedure will help you fix this strange problem.
Good bye

Satellite P25-S520 - DVD player does not work properly
Difficulty of DVD player or buy the external drive
My DVD player does not work properly, in fact it can never work properly. Recently, I tried to back up my PC on a DVD using Norton 360. Norton did not recognize that the DVD was present. Then I tried to write a text file on a DVD and was a failure. DVD + R and DVD-R media were found to be (Maxwell 16 X).
I could have probably lived with this however, I received a copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 on a CD and my Toshiba would not recognize it. I tried the CD in my laptop nearby and it was recognized.
An attempt to update the driver has also fails.
I was able to copy a CD of music last night so that at least works properly.
Does anyone know how can I fix? The important part is to be able to load my new program.
Research on some forums I found that other people have had problems with the Pioneer drive. If the drive can't be fixed, I'm not adverse to buying an external DVD drive. Unfortunately, where I live there is no brick and mortar stores selling external drives and I prefer to avoid the hassle of getting a drive online and discovering that it does not work with my Toshiba. Can someone suggest an external USB drive that will read and write CD and DVD and is certain to be compatible with my Toshiba?
Thanks for any help,

Driver provider: Microsoft

However, you won't be able to boot from CD (run recovery for example) If you are using an external drive.
So, your best option would be to replace the internal drive with a Toshiba drive designed for the laptop. Call an ASP and request a quote.

cmczona,
Did you try to apply this difficulty? If you have, and it still doesn't show, try to start it. Make sure that you have a bootable disk and make sure it is set to boot from the optical drive in the BIOS first. If you can't then it's a hardware problem and the player or another material is defective...

Sat 1900 - CD/DVD drive does not work properly. How to solve this?
Hello :-)
I have a Toshiba Satellite 1900, bought in 2003. It has a cd/dvd drive called MAST * UJDA720.
For the last 3-4 months he was not working properly with movie DVDs. whenever a movie starts, it does not work smoothly, but in stop-and-go. First of all, I had everything again and it works fine, but lately, he never runs well and some DVD doesn't work well at all. Excuse me it I do not explain, I don't have the words in English.
But maybe someone understands me and can help. My DVD player is dirty? Is there something like a standard CD? Or do I have to give the laptop to a repair shop?
Thank you in advance, I would like to have my DVD player, back to normal - especially as I don't have a TV.
concerning
KimbazuluHello, Kerstin
If you can watch the DVD on the unit I don't think the drive is defective. I have the same unit and still work well. Stop and go while playing DVDs can be caused due to the high utilization of the processor.
Please try to start the Task Manager and check all running processes. All unnecessary processes can be stopped and on this way, the CPU will go to a lower level. If the antivir software is installed on your unit checking if this software analyzes the HARD disk and stop it.
These things together can be responsible for stop and go while playing DVD movies.

It won't read a DVD. It will not read ANY CD or DVD. I tried 12 different CD/DVD. This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it. I had added Nero. I removed Nero. I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled. He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work. The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '. It is not the case. It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.
I did everything suggested that past discussions. I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly. It is not the case.
I tried to get various programs to recognize. They cannot see the installed media.
I uninstalled iTunes.
Please do not give me the answer of cut-and - paste stock; It does not work.
Please tell me what to do to make Vista see the media inserted in the CD/DVD-RW drive.
Thank you.

Satellite U200: DVD - ROM does not work correctly
DVD - ROM not working. After the fire of two optical drive DVD - RW, loss of ability to burn and can read only CD with difficulties of the sum. It is not possible to recovery operating system.
Look like lost laser precise positioning device and can no longer read high-density data on DVD, but on the sum of CD singing can be found with difficulty.
Your description sounds like a reader lens problem.
Probably the lens can not calibrate in the right position, and that's why the drive can't handle DVD media.Bad news buddy this problem is not repairable with updates. Above all it s a hardware problem and the drive should be replaced!
I would recommend contact the ASP which is responsible for you country to organise a replacement.

If all goes well it s not a malfunction of the equipment.
We should be optimistic ;)Check this box: go to the Device Manager and remove the drive from the device.
After restarting again, the operating system should recognize and initialize the disk again. In addition, you can try to clean the lens gently and carefully, maybe it helps

It plays fine bought audio cd and rips OK. Does not seem to play bought DVD of either. Can not burn blank CD - R or RW or copy files of data on it. Does not recognize any kind of blank discs - clicking noise once the disc is inserted.
I had to buy a drive hard ext (non-Tosh) that works very well on all the above - but it is not convenient for me to carry the entire hard drive in my work!
Can someone help pls. ?

Hello
These disc problems usually occur because the wrong lens calibration.
In this case, there is nothing to do and especially the replacement of the drive may solve the problem.
But first, you should try to remove the drive from Device Manager. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again.
You can also try to run the troubleshooter in the properties of the drive. -

Satellite A200 - HD DVD ROM is not working
Hello
Can someone give me advice what to do with my HD DVD ROM It's playback discs after departure upward but then if I don't play anything for a while (30 minutes or 1 hour) and then try to play HD DVD ROM stopped reading anything and the laptop became frozen. Sometimes it even stops with the error message.
If I restart my computer then HD DVD ROM still works but for a short time.
What should I do?
Kind regards
OlgaYou have cd/dvd utilities in the system tray? Maybe they are causing a problem.
Try to remove the CD/DVD filters in the registry.
When the associated CD/DVD (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), the software is installed, they install filters in the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.(1) run Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
(3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
(4) restart. If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

Satellite A60-772: SD - R6112 DVD - RW is not working properly
Hello
I bought a Satellite A60 772 in September of last year. His Player DVD - RW SD - R6112 worked well upward until March 2005, some time; However, I only used to burn CD - R and CD - RW. Then all about March, I used it maybe twice to burn on DVD - RW using the RecordNow! supplied software.
There is no problem - so - but shortly after the player refuses to detect even the CD - RW and DVD - RW. I can now use only of the CD - R with it (have not checked with DVD-R). Since then, I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even reinstalled once the operating system (e.g. Windows XP Home Edition). I also updated the BIOS about a month ago. Still nothing.
-Someone - had a similar problem? And if you also have an idea how to solve this problem?
Hello
If there is the same situation after the recovery process, I assume that there is some malfunction of the equipment. All that you have done is just. I think the warranty is still valid and the best solution is to contact the Service of your country partner and let check the drive.
Maybe the reader must be exchanged.
