2nd flickering screen on Tecra A4

I have a Tecra A4, which I recently plugged on a samsung syncmaster 920nw monitor to use as a 2nd screen.

I tried the screen with other computers and works very well. However, when I use it with my laptop, with the resolution 1440 x 900 I get weak flicker of the horizontal lines on the screen. It is not there when I reduce the resolution, or when I use it as screen alone, only when it is used as a 1 of the 2 screens and this resolution. Any ideas of what could be the cause?

Thank you

Rob

  • Smart touch 610-1010UK Office: flickering screen on Touchsmart 610

During the evening of 11/11/15 the flickering screen started. The mouse moves the cursor, but nothing does. F1, F8, F10, and F11 repeatedly pressed when starting up do not appear all the screens.  I see others have screen similar flicker. Help would be appreciated.

Resolved - on the Microsoft Forum, we thought that Windows Update KB3097877 on Windows 7 might have caused the flickering on the PC.  Windows have now pushed another version of KB3097877 for this problem.   The good news for those whose parts are automatic update of Windows is that all you have to do is turn on your computer and put up with the annoying flicker until the new update gives you the logon screen.

If any good came of this, is that we should remember to save regularly.

  • Problem screen screen LCD Tecra A4

    everyone,

I dropped my TECRA A4 several times, not bad and a few problems with the display began. It flickered a lot initially, with fine monochrome strips flashing on the screen, and then once he hit Windows would be nice. But then I opened yesterday, and something serious had happened: the screen was completely black, but he had some very thin bars (like 3 pixels) passes through it. Everything else was black at the beginning, and then after 5 or 10 minutes of being on it would be clear until I got a screen white & gray snowy, but still no picture.

The fact that he is not completely black but shows a response makes me think that it could be fixable, the LCD display has completely turned off. I tried indiscreet open the LCD screen to search for cables loose, but don't see anything apparent.

I wonder if there is anything else I can try, or if I should look for a replacement. The rest of the computer seems to work normally.

    any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

    I agree with Akuma
Looks like a hardware problem, but it of difficult to say how much would be affected
I mean there are various devices that may malfunction. That is to say LCD or graphics card

If you want you can connect an external monitor and could check if the same question would be visible on the second screen
But buddy note; It wouldn't change the fact that the ASP must be contacted for fix

    Good luck

  • iMac 21.5 k for 2nd display screen resolution

Hi, I currently have an iMac 21.5 with 4 k display. I have a second monitor connected via a Mini display to VGA. My 2nd screen has the ability to 1920 x 1080 (which is the best option), however, when I select this option, it pushes the screen to the right by 5cm, it's why I don't get the full use of the desktop computer. My second monitor is LCD, widescreen 21.5. Has anyone had this problem and managed to resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To see all the options for resolution, open system preferences, and then select display. There are two options: default and scaled. Click Scaled while keeping the option key and you will see all available resolutions. You may find that there is more than one 1920 x 1080 option (at different frequencies). Try a different setting.

  • Satellite A100-003 - flickering screen then shows black alone

My Toshiba has been flashed with the latest available v6.00 BIOS and has a geforce go 7600 gpu.
About 2 weeks ago the screen started to Flash and loud gray lines have appeared, momentarily, in the days that the problem has increased in frequency and the screen shows black only, but the backlight is turned on.

If the LCD screen stays off for a few hours it works again, but after awhile the same behavior occurs. More I connected to an external monitor and everything works fine. Any ideas?
Also I would ask, in case I have to change the screen LCD which is currently (15.4 @ 1280 x 800) would be possible to replace it with a higher resolution as we shape the Tecra line (15.4 @ 1680 x 1050)?

    Hello

    > Also I connected to an external monitor and everything works fine. Any ideas?
This would mean that the graphics card is ok and the problem is caused by another party. Otherwise, the external monitor would show the same behavior

If the following parts likely to be affected:
    Cable - LCD
    UPS - FL
    -LCD itself

If another LCD would be difficult to say because only a technician of the laptop can give you 100% sure answer but is important s has the same size of screen (15.4) and the same type of connector. A higher resolution might work, but there is no guarantee in this regard.

So before doing something wrong ask a technician for assistance if laptop screen would be compatible.

I try many times with the same problem on a different machine with the same problem

The laptop is returned to Toshiba (they have installed win xp from an original cd of microsoft, so I need activation, and I have to do this on 20 computers laptops and good course that no, the toshiba cd creator app, win the dvd...)

I contact toshiba, I'm not sure that they understand what I want, I got a new dvd of restoration with the same problem

Anyone has a solution I would be very happy

Maybe something to change in the bios but I don't know what?

    Thanks for any help

In General original Toshiba recovery image is tested and should work properly on certain model of laptop. If there is a problem with recovery original you should clarify this with Toshiba directly.
As far as I know the BIOS should be set to default settings and nothing should be changed in the BIOS settings when you want to use the recovery image.

All I can imagine is that there is something wrong in the image itself. In the past, I had a similar problem with old Portege 2000.

Is done: If you want to use the original image you must clarify this with Toshiba. Toshiba must offer good job recovery image. If you want to use own WXP then you must purchase the license for this. Toshiba has nothing to do with the activation of the OS.
(> I have to do this on 20 computers, laptops and of course not, the toshiba cd soft > creator, win the dvd...)
    How to understand this?
You want to buy a recovery disk and install it on 20 laptop computers Tecra absolutely identical?

  • Blue screen on Tecra A9

    Hello

I just bought a Tecra A9... which were pre-installed with Vista. For three weeks, I kept minimum software on this subject...

    Opera
    Thunderbird
    Firefox
    EditPlus
    SmartFTP

and it blue screened on me about 4 times a day. EditPlus (a text editor) would also frequently crash... apparently when using the touchpad.

I then moved to XP. Same thing.

Toshiba has graciously replaced the laptop for me... I now have a new one with XP on it... and it's blue-screening on me 4 or 5 times a day.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing these accidents? Or where I would start looking?

    See you soon

    Nick

The BSOD appears usually due to a hardware problem or a software error that serious (compatibility issues).

I think that in your case, the issue could be related to software because the laptop has been replaced and it happens again.

You should check if the same BSOD will appear using the preinstalled image of Toshiba.
Don t install all applications 3rd but use ONLY factory from Toshiba.
So let's run the laptop for several hours and test.

If a BSOD is not then your installed 3rd party causes programs that issue!

  • Nothing on the screen when Tecra A7 reboot

For about a week, my Tecra A7-201 shows a strange question.

When I reboot then there is nothing on the screen, but the machine continues to boot.
I can connect to the machine with MS Office remotely and in the Device Manager I see that there is no graphics cards and also without monitors listed.
I can stop the machine and then remotely and the same thing happens again to restart.
To get the screen back, I need to disconnect the power to the machine, remove the batteries, wait about 30 seconds, put battery back/ac on and now I have my screen back.
As I can't even Toshiba/BIOS boot screen to display everything that this happening before that windows never loads.
It happens too regardless the State of home (docked/undocked) or voltage (AC or battery only).

I have no idea if the partners, but also the screen sometimes "flashing" - like lightning just a fraction of a second and returns to normal.

I'm running the latest BIOS 5.60.

Clues? The machine is still under warranty (and has been back to Toshiba for another problem already - so it could be a machine on Monday).
I asked Toshiba here in Switzerland and I get no response, just need to look at the machine (which means that it is gone for another week).

    Thanks for any help

    Peter

    Hello Peter

I don't really know what the problem is here (probably related equipment), but please do not contact Toshiba but partner service authorized in Switzerland. If you need address, you can find them under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

  • Flickering screen on Satellite A100

First of all, I would like to say hello to everyone...

My colleague at work came to me with his laptop, which is a Satellite A100 with a screen flicker problem.
Its nothing major, but the screen flickers constantly randomly as it s refreshing.
I tried an external monitor and it is very good, so I guess that the LCD, 'FL inverter Board' or connectors. There is no distortion of colors, no lines/ladies on the screen and no backlight problem.

I'm not a genius in laptops, but I fixed mine with success.

I disassembled the computer laptop and just had a glance, made sure no loose connections, dust etc put back together and still had the same problem with the screen flicker.

Now, I have no idea of what a "FL inverter board" is, or if this could be the problem, so any information would be appreciated.
It s is not prepared to buy a new LCD screen, only to find out that it is this UPS widget.

    Thanks in advance

I think that the FL inverter converts high voltage to power the Tube FL. You must be careful with the ups because it can give you an electric shock.

You say that there is no problem of backlight, so it would not be the inverter at fault.

If this is the Image that flashes (while the backlight is always on), then there may be a bad connection behind the screen, or a part should be replaced (for example, the LCD, the cable or the graphics card).

  • Re: Blue screen in Tecra A10 during installation of Windows XP

    Hello world

I try to install XP in a Tecra A10 and I get the blue screen of death each time I try. It's all beautiful download initially, but when it goes to 'Windows Installer', then the blue screen appears. Any ideas?

    Thank you

I imagine that you didn t include the SATA drivers for Win XP operating system.
The new models of laptop computers supports the SATA HDD controller and a SATA drivers are required to properly install the Win XP or Vista.

The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Storage Manager which is on the European driver Toshiba page.

I recommend the snatch and read some threads here in the forum about the SATA and Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers

  • Turn off the screen on Tecra and using external monitor/LCD TV

I recently bought an LCD TV and was anxious to use it as a monitor for my Toshiba Tecra M2V. I ran into problems.

I seem to be unable to 'disable' the laptop screen and ONLY use the LCD TV screen at cary, work, games etc. I seem to be rather only beable to COMBINE the LCD with my LCD screen, by creating a "two" screen I followed all the online help and I am still unable to have one screen.

I just want some LCD TV as my screen!

Any ideas on how to do this? It's really a pain!

    TIA

    Hello

Usually, you should be able to do this by using the FN + F5 key combination. As far as I know if the device is connected to the TV, you have three options (maybe depends on the laptop model) LCD only, LCD and external, just the TV device.

You can also try to switch using GeForce properties:
Display properties > settings > advanced > GeForce tab > Device Settings > Select output device.
