  I have faced a problem last week when my laptop is plugged in and worked a while when I remove the power cable and run down the battery. Constantly the screen flickers. If I then plug back in it is well again.

  If I reboot with power cable the problem disappears, but I used to know what is the cause of the problem is something to do with the power socket on the laptop where it attaches to the mobo? It is only the idea I had similar problem you are looking for or maybe could be the adapter itself?

  Perhaps strange notebook to another mode of power and therefore the odd flicker appeared. Question may be an Fl inverter

  The laptop is a Toshiba A100 PSAA8 with a graphics processor Intel 945 G Chipset.

  I don't have another machine to test the screen either, as my sister lost with my laptop alternative.

  Then I read a little in some forums on your question. The first question is: have you updated your BIOS? It's really important because many users in the forums Ubuntu has reported that, after that an updated bios updated widescreen stuff work. Since the you´re works with Vista, I would say firstly you update your BIOS, remove all drivers display with 'Driver Cleaner Pro' and then try the drivers from the website of intel again (as an especially for this wide screen problem)

  Maybe it works, I confused why it doesn't since this chipset is designed to pull many of the higher resolutions and even all res widescreen 1680 x 1050 and 1440 x 900.

• Satellite A100-237: Screen Dithered

  I have problem with my screen on Satellite A100-237. Some colors (many of them; but others appear correctly, without this problem) it seems that halftone, example:

  The fill on the left must be a solid color, but you can see a sort of texture (groups of darker pixels) - as if the screen tries to simulate the color, which he was not able to view (technique called dithering, used in gif, for example). When I change the bit to 16 bit depth (I use 32-bit), it's better for some colors (like the one pictured), but he still presists. It's very distracting, especially in videos or games - the image on the screen go, but this 'texture' stays in the same place, so it is easily spotted.

  Can I do something with this? Is this a HW or SW fault, or is it considered to be "normal"?

  This problem appears from the beginning and you have installed the operating system from the recovery CD?
  If not the case, please use the Toshiba Recovery for the installation of the OS CD.
  Also have you tried to update the graphics driver? Please check the version of the graphics driver on the Toshiba driver page. If the new driver is available, please install on your laptop.

  Hi, I have a problem with my Satellite A100-999.

  The screen flickers and then goes black. The works still laptop as I can connect to external monitors, but the laptop monitor are almost entirely black.   HM, if you can still see a picture on the laptop external monitor should be ok and it must be a problem with built-in LCD screen.

  I guess that your laptop is not under warranty more so I would try exchanging the FL inverter it's a lot cheaper. You can order this FL inverter of an ASP or eBay but is not so easy to replace, because you have to disassemble the laptop monitor.

• Satellite A100-796 screen suddenly flips & occasionally turns black.

  9 months ago, I bought my laptop (Satellite A100-796).
  Since a week ago, the screen flickers from time to time very fast (for like a second). What's worse, the screen came to turn completely black twice suddenly while he was studying. It seems that the computer was still active, but the screen went black still (on the power but in black only). The only solution was to press the power button for like 10 seconds to stop the computer laptop everything.

  I have installed new software, so I don't really know if it of a hardware problem or not? Everyone recognizes these symptoms, or you can give me any advice? I always had a pick-up-and-return-guarantee, do I have to use this right now or is there a quicker and better solution?

  I really hope that someone can guide me through this, given that the laptop is very precious to me.

• Blue screen when installing Win XP Pro on the Satellite A100-211

  Hi all.

  I'm started to get really desperate here! I just bought my new Satellite A100-211 and now I want to install my own copy of Windows XP Professional (as the laptop comes with XP Home). But, when I try to boot from my Win Xp Pro CD (with no SP1 or SP2 integrated), I get a blue screen of the STOP just as the installation application reached the phase "the installation program starts Windows! The STOP message says something about a file named "pci.sys".

  I don't know what the problem is or how to install XP Pro! It should be so simple! I even tried the SATA drivers from intel and load the Windows XP Pro install the program installation (F6) with a floppy, but I always get the same blue screen at the same stage of the installation.

  Can someone help me please? Can someone explain how to install Win XP Pro on this laptop?

  So I'm trying to fix a LCD on a Satellite A100. The girl I am set as said she accidentally hit the screen with his hand and became black.

  When you turn on the laptop I can here windows activate, nothing is on the LCD screen. It is not the backlight, because I don't see anything on the screen at all. So I bought a replacement LCD screen and that one does not work either. Same question

  Did you buy this new LCD screen to a service provider authorized? I ask this question because it would be interesting to know if it s a Toshiba valid a party or 3rd party a spare.

  Did you check the connection of the LCD cable? There may be a link to lose or the cable itself is touched.
  Theoretically, it might be the FL inverter too, but I doubt that. Otherwise, you'd see something on the screen but very dark.

• Satellite A100-033 - black screen with no data after the advanced boot option

  I tried each F8 option in the advanced boot options to get my work laptop. There is just a black slowed after repairing Windows files and Loaded. Also F2 & F12 even when I try to use the recovery disk it remans black?

  I'm after a bit of advice/help. I have a satellite A100 & after its been on during an extended period with no keyboard (like DVD burning), the screen is empty. It does not matter the keys on which I support on I can't get it back. The only way to get out of what I've found is to reboot the machine.

  Hi Julie,.

  It sounds as if something is harming your graphics driver causing the display to turn off. If the problem occurs only when you use certain applications or only started after installing a new application you may need to restore your system to a restore point before new applications have been installed. As a test, you can try to start your system in safe mode and see if the problem persists.

  I also recommend that you re-install your graphics drivers to see if it improves the problem.

  Other possibilities are that your graphics chip is a failure or overheating causing this problem in which case you have to return your laptop to a Service approved for the additional diagnostic agent.

  My last thought is that you may have a problem with the inverter FL (the component that provides the lighting of your LCD screen). Check, when the screen turns off, if you can still see a residual image on the screen. If yes then the FL inverter is definitely at fault.

  Unless I opened fully open/almost completely the cover on my Toshiba Satellite A100-049 it will always freeze on screen Toshiba Logo black (first one you see). She has completed half of the blue progress bar that runs along the bottom of the screen. I need and then turn off the button and once again, it becomes work.

  The laptop is only 2 weeks old nine. It's especially annoying since it prevents a scheduled backup to wake the portable computer from Hibernation. I have to leave it on or leave the lid open permanently.

  It seems that the title has been changed from the one I posted, nothing wrong with that, but it is no longer accurate. It keeps loading the Windows loading screen, it freezes "before" that date. The Toshiba Logo POST screen, very first, you see when you turn on the laptop.

  I searched some on this problem on the internet and think that there was a problem with the graphics card. Therefore, I tried to remove and re - install the driver (with driver on toshiba download page). However, the problem didn't end even it has been increased. After that, I formatted the computer but the problem is still ongoing. Here some information about the card:

  have you checked if your RAM is good? I suggest do a RAM with 'memtest86' test or 'prime95' so you can be sure that your RAM or CPU is either defective or not.
  And it would be useful to do a bios update to the latest version, because it is sometimes useful.

• Satellite A100 screen backlight works, but no display

  Just in the process of establishing a Satellite A100 that works very well through the connection of the external monitor but when switched over to using Fn + F5 LCD screen, the backlight turns on but there is no display at all, just a black screen lit.

  I suspect it is the screen that is past and not on the cord (have a screen on order) so will update here but I just thought that I would keep you updated on the progress.
