500-400na Pavilion: shutdown

My guard computer power off, no doubt to install updates. I went into the settings and it passed to 'Notify Me' before installing the updates, but that made no difference - I'm in the middle of something and it turns off and restarts without warning. Any ideas?

Why do you say "probably the install updates?

  • Adding a second hard drive to a 500-380nf Pavilion?

    I just bought a new 500-380nf Pavilion.

In the store I did understand the seller I was intending to add second hard drive to a 1 to SATA (which I already loaded with all my media files).

However, now I am home and have taken the side panel, it seems that the system a capacity for 2 more SATA connections on the motherboard, power cable from spare at least one and a lot of physical space.

BUT the chassis appears to have been designed with ONLY 2 bays - that are occupied by the existing hard drive and the optical drive.   Am I missing something?   There is a place to mount the second hard drive, isn't there?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Some models of the HP 500 - xxx series are provsioned for a 2.5 device "(SDD ou HD)."  See the image below.

If you have removed the optical drive you can then use a 5.25 "to two hard drive adapter 2.5"since you mentioned a 2.5 hard drive".

  • 500 - 516nc Pavilion: Pavilion that keep me from installing and running Linux

    Hello

I recently bought the Pavilion 500-516nc with preinstsalled of Windows 8.1. I was intending to set up a dual-boot for the computer, as the seller claims that this machine is suitable for a number of operating systems.  However, I can't install and run the operating system I want.

UEFI mode, the computer is not USB, or the DVD-ROM and does not offer to start from other sources, with the exception of the Windows boot loader, even after I disabled the 'secure' boot When I go to the legacy, I can actually run the other OS live USB or DVD and I can install it. However, the legacy would not boot from the HARD disk for some reason any (perhaps because the disc capacity is too large?). And I can't find a way to make the system work, I installed through legacy mode UEFI.

I would not return the unit to the store, because it suits me almost all the other senses, but this issue is a big problem for me. What can we do about it?

    Best regards.

    No452, welcome to the forum.

I ran the systems dual boot for years using Windows and Ubuntu, Linux.  The best way to do this, it uses two hard disks.  Windows do not play nice with the other OS' are on the same hard disk.

That said, if you want to install Ubuntu on the same drive, here's a guide that should help you:

I tried several Linux distributions and found Ubuntu to be the easiest to use.

  • 500-210qe Pavilion: Pavilion 500-210qe: cpu fan not detected after update BIOS

Pavilion 500-210qe started showing ' 511: cpu fan not detected; F1 = boot' message.  I checked the BIOS rev level and set to upgrade to the latest (80.13 FRIEND) but the problem persists.

At startup, the cpu fan is not running, but after pressing F1.  Please notify.

From the least expensive option, replace the cpu fan (which comes with the heat sink) has solved the problem.

  • Upgrade to a video card in the 500-267C Pavilion

    Hello

I recently bought a pavilion of 500-267C at Costco. After playing world of Tanks, I realized that I need to upgrade the video card to get the decent game. Research I've done so far suggests that I can install a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti without problem, but I thought I'd get your first opinions. The minimum requirement for the GTX 750 Ti is 300 watts which is exactly what that flag c 500-267 a, but I fear that this could still be a problem. I'm not really a hands type so changing the food is a bit intimidating for me. Any thoughts?

    Hello

Please see the publication of the article.

Try one of the sub models NVIDIA GTX 750.

MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF these cards have a switch to allow for better compatibility.  If necessary, turn it to the other position.  Directions to enter the area.

  • 500-300na Pavilion: problem with Pavilion 500-300na (mother of Memphis-S) - Dead / no beeps sound and video

Hello - I hope someone can help me please

I have desktop PC HP Pavilion 500-300na.
The PC worked very well without problem - I went for a stay of two weeks during which the PC was not in use and power was turned off. I'm back from vacation and the PC does not work now.

When you press the power button, the LED lights up, CPU fan, electric fan and the two spin system fan. There is no video. There is no beep error codes. What is it - actually dead.
If I hold the button for about 5 to 10 seconds, the fans run down, but the rest spinning CPU fan.

    What I've done so far:

    Tried another monitor.
    Tried a different power supply.
Powered by the motherboard on its own with any other disconnected.
Taken the Cmos battery on the motherboard for 1 min and replaced it.
Clean the dust from the fans (they were not so bad as to be honest).

The machine worked with in PCI16 slot video card - I removed this for the test. As I can't get into the Bios, I can't put in the work of the "mother video card." Not sure if it is a problem.
The unit has a strip of 8 GB of ram DDR3 - I tried this in another location without any changes.
I have not tested the ram. I have not tested the CPU or deleted one of the fans / heat sinks.

Thanks for any help you can provide
    Chris

Okay, I think THAT I managed to fix it and understand what the problem was.

I think the problem was double - first of all, before the problem started, Technical Assistance from HP have a BIOS update and download. I think that this update changed the Startup Configuration in the BIOS to "ENABLED" Secure.

Not really a problem. . BUT...

The video card I was running was a riser and secure boot DISABLED neeeded and legacy support ENABLED.

I have reset the BIOS using the jumper (bios password) information – I also did a 'blind' changing information from the bios to switch to the use of the video of the motherboard (bash F10 for 10 seconds at the start, then three arrows down, then two returns... This pass BIOS to "Apply default settings and exit"). I don't know who really helped, but the machine comes up in life.

I put the information here, in which case another experience a similar problem.

  • Pavilion 500-339: update video card for a 500-339 Pavilion

I have a HP Pavilion 500-339. AMD A10, processor 3.5 GHz quad-core with 8 GB of RAM, running windows 8.1, 64-bit. It came with a Radeon R7 240 video card. I know that physical space is limited inside the computer case, but what could I upgrade to that would fit? While not the biggest PC-gamer out there, I do not play a bit and I would like the best features. Thank you!

    Hello

Without replacing the power supply, the NVIDIA GTX 750 TI would be an excellent choice. Choose a model that does not require a 6-pin auxiliary power connector.  Open your Pc and do some measures so that you know for sure that the GTX model 750 will be fit. Most should adapt to certain expectations.  Know what the return policy is before you buy.

  • Installation of Windows 7 (64 bit) on a 500-089 Pavilion

    Hello...

The computer is a HP Pavilion 500-089 with an AMD A10 CPU, Radeon graphics card, card mother MSI MS-7778, containing the chipset AMD A75 and 8 GB of RAM. The vehicle is currently Windows 8 is installed on the hard drive.

I would like to install Windows 7 (x 64) on the partition where Windows 8. I would do this while keeping my recovery and other partitions intact, just as it has been partitioned at the factory. In other words, I want to keep the GPT partition table, it came with.

I want to be sure about the BIOS settings, that I needed to change to it. My view is: 1) disable Secure Boot in the BIOS (the UEFI firmware) under Secure Boot Configuration, 2) Enable Legacy Support

Then I'll be able to start the installation of Windows 7 (64 bit) of the DVD, and will my GPT recognized and uncompromising of the installation?

I know running Windows 7 does not have any support from HP. That's why I need to keep the GPT and all partitions intact original.

For what it's worth, I would also suggest HP seriously consider adding Windows 7 to their list of operating systems supported on other computers 'Windows 8 '.  W7 is a proven operating system.

    Hello

Yes, if you meet the two steps that you mentioned before installing Windows 7, it should work fine. But owning a www.hp.com and download the necessary drivers before installing Windows 7. So that you don't have to run around to download drivers once you install Windows 7. If you have problems during the installation, you can read back the same message.

  • Pavilion 500-281: a GeForce 6200 video card will fit in a 500-281 Pavilion I just bought?

A Nvidea GeForce 6200 512 MB video card will fit in my Pavilion nine 500-281?  It is better to use and it will perform better than the graphics performance that comes with the computer? I got it from an older office who stop working and thought it might be interesting to reuse.

What comparable HP computer available at present would be an AGP slot?

  • Pavilion 500-339: update video card for a 500-339 Pavilion... room with Ram?

I posted a message here a few days ago because I wanted to find a possible upgrade for my graphics card. I have a Pavilion 500-339, 3.5 GHz with 8g of RAM. The video card is a Radeo R7 240 and I want to upgrade. Big_Dave said (thanks for that!) but I am facing another problem. The motherboard is good, but compact and I fear that new video card (because it is longer) pretty much sitting on top the RAM (if it fits in all). I know that my computer is not a "PC game", but would that be a problem? One more time card would still hold? What choices do I have? Thank you
