Hello

You are welcome

In this case, the error code for short drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP (with the error code) and make arrangements for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - include the full model number and the laptop Nr - see here for an explanation.

Best regards

If you don't want to pay for recovery disks, you can do your own installation of W7 disk by following the instructions below.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

  • HP Pavalion G6 - 2105 SA: HP Pavalion G6 - 2105 SA does not start

    Hello

My HP Pavalion G6 - 2105 SA has stopped working.  The day before, I first noticed that the laptop wouldn't start I was mobile and download music, the laptop worked very well at this point and was extinguished properly.

The next day, the laptop froze on the windows loading screen after signing the logo.  After rebooting the machine, I was prompted to load the startup repair Windows (or to repair system), and although this would be the charge, the laptop has been blocked on a gray screen.  I did a few tests using the HP advanced system diagnostics.  The starting test gave me the following error message:

    Failure ID: 9TU7H3 - 68485 B-MFPX1F-60XL03

    Product ID: B9N71EA #ABU

    Hard drive 1

I did a tune-up of the system after this, the battery test has been successful as well as verification of the processor and the SMART hard drive check.  However the short DST hard drive didn't, giving me the same error as the start test.

I checked the forums and understand that maybe it's a fatal HARD drive failure, if it so I was wondering if there is a way to remove all files from this drive as there are some important issues that in my view are not saved anywhere.

Any contributions to this issue would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Lewis

    Hello

Error code 24 characters confirm a failure of the short test (DST) disk Self and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

An option you could use to try and recover the existing data would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

The procedure to remove the HARD drive begins on Page 44 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

Basically, your hard drive must be replaced. Back up all your data and call HP to replace if its under warranty. If this isn't the case, I can recommend some parts for you. It is relatively easy and takes about 30 minutes to install the HARD drive and an hour to do the installation of the OS.

    Hello

It really sounds like the HARD drive starts to fail, then it would probably be better to replace it before installing Windows 10.

The only other option that might be interesting to try would be to zero the drive then reinstall the original OS and see if you still get the uefi diagnostic errors.

    Hello

The error code indicates that the hard drive is faulty and will need to be replaced - a brief guide to do it yourself is detailed below.

Your laptop is considered as coming with a 320 GB hard drive, but you can install just as easily a 500 GB or 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 52 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

  • DST fails / included code / on g7 - 2205 sr/C4W24EA

    Hello, experts.

    DST failure code is:

    64PEXW-6BD70G-MFPX1F-60UD03

Research community to answer what to do. Without this code. Most of the responses with DST say HARD drive needs to be replaced.

Now, I have no bootable laptop on windows 8. Have no recovery CD-s

and no activation code of windows on the bottom, like it was for windows 7, windows 8 single lable logo.

Please help, what can I do in this situation.

    Thank you.

    Hello, Lil Lisa!

    Thanks for responding.

    I temporary solved my problem.

Disconnected the laptop HARD drive, then it connected as drive external HARD for work PC. Then do a full scan of the HARD drive for errors using the: 1 MiniTool Partition Wizard (have found 2 bad blocks) and
    2. standard MS Windows service for recovery tools.
    Overall, it lasted 20 hours

After this laptop was able to start and is currently working.

    Have a nice day.
