80244018 while searching for updates with Windows Update
I'm working on Vista Home Premium SP2 Polish version.
Lately, I noticed that I am not in my Windows Update system update. I've been unable to update my Windows Defender definitions. I was meeting a mistake and info on aid offers me to erase temporary files folders. I did exactly as he wrote it. But it did not work. Instead, now I can't even check updates, because when I stopped to do so, error 80244018 appears. A few days ago, everything was ok. I even tried to "restore system" (I don't know how it is in English - the system option it comes down to the previously written statement) - without help, cause the oldest back point I had was 8 months ago - and yet, the problem occurred.
And besides - I do not know how and why (I noticed after awhile, and other people were using my computer) my catalog of Program Files default changed from system disk c: d: disk, I mean, whenever I have install something that installs Program Files, it wants to install it on d: how to return to c :?
Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before using a flash drive or the SD card that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs, or updates IE and before installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local computer, reputable and independent repair shop.
On others using your computer:
2. the other members of the family should have their own, protected by password account user without administrator privileges.
3. anyone else using your computer must use a specially created with minimal privileges guest account.
4. I strongly recommend installing & using Windows SteadyState on your computer to avoid such problems in the future.

I use Windows 7 64-bit with Service Pack 1. Windows Update worked fine until the Windows Update Agent is automatically updated to 7.6.7600.320 in August 2014. Now, when Windows Update tries to search for updates, it reports "Windows could not search for updates" and indicates that the 80246002 error code was received.
[UPDATE] Since posting this query, I think I solved my problem by following the instructions described on the page "Update tool of the system for Windows 7 for x 64-based Systems (KB947821) [may 2014]." I downloaded the file (Windows6 1 - KB947821 - v33 - x 64.msu) and then let it settle. He describes himself as "Fix for Windows (KB947821)". The installation took awhile, with a lot of disk activity. When he finally finished, I rebooted my machine and tried an update of Windows. It seems to work fine; He even found a significant update that I then installed successfully. So apparently my problem the hotfix for Windows (KB947821) provided the solution.
[UPDATE 2] After seeing the messages on the change the DNS to resolve the problem, I thought I would add the following information where it is necessary:
- I use the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer 11 and confirmed it works in 64-bit mode by inspecting the user agent of the browser. You can check the user agent of your browser by visiting http://user-agent.me/
- My Internet Protocol properties are set to 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'. It works with my wireless router, and I've never tried to change it.
[UPDATE 3] After thinking I was safe, after doing several searches for updates, the returned 80246002 problem on my machine! I rebooted my machine and my wireless router, but it did not help. So, I advanced and tried the DNS thing: I changed the favorite 8.8.8.8 DNS server and another server DNS 8.8.4.4 and then rebooted. Search on Windows Update is now successfully! I am humbled and grateful!
In my case, I got the window update 80246002 error code after I uninstalled KB2982791 according to the https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/MS14-045 and then tried the updates. I have nothing clears the error (ipconfig/flushdns, rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, a few MS Fix, etc...). KB2993651 being the replacement update I was trying to download and install, I decided to manually download the update from the windows update (http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB2993651) catalog. After you downloaded and installed KB2993651, I rebooted the PC and then I was able to check Windows updates again without entering the 80246002 error code.

Hi, I recently formatted my HD and clean installed with an older version of Win7 Pro SP1 x 64 OS, I more than a week now looking online for help, but nothing is. Windows Update appears to hang "search for updates". I don't presume that my Pc is virus free because of a clean install, so I'm not sure that Microsoft stopped providing updates for older versions of windows or not. I also tried to upgrade to OS 64-bit win10 everything works fine with the installation until it reaches "search for updates" which also hangs and does not download updates, I tried Microsoft stand-alone install also but who doesn't either. I also tried running "Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool" results are lower. I also tried to reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on the Microsoft Web site and found a windows "0x80070005" error code also known as "access denied." Something to do with registry permissions I think. A boot minimum, then run the Microsoft fixit would fix the issue im having with windows update.

Windows 7 keeps the search for updates, never find them
Windows 7 keeps a continual search for updates
I tried three different approaches without effect except to the erase the history of update
If Windows 7 have problems to find updates, causing heavy CPU or RAM with the Svchost.exe process, use the reason that Windows Update could not automatically update the Windows Update Client.
in this case, you must download the update manually, it's the latest version at the moment: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3138612

Windows 7 continues the search for updates
Recently, I have restored my laptop to factory settings, and after you install the service pack 1 update, this does not block the search for updates. I tried everything on this site but without success. Help, please. Thank you.
The installation of the plant is the worst possible Windows, that no tech fan would go because of the bloatware and installation utility factory duplicate that interfere with better integrated in the operating system versions. Corruption as it is so just wait until you make a clean reinstall Windows 7 .
If you want to try to wrestle with the factory install, so first thing I "d to recover some lost performance is Clean Up Factory Bloatware. " It also checks and fix the integrity of the installation itself, which is not only limited but damaged by bloatware.
Then, if the problem run the troubleshooting Windows Update - Microsoft Windows Help tool
Then, try to Reset Windows Update components.
Finally, as a last resort, run the System Update tool .
Let us know how it goes and if there are any questions or problems.

Update Windows 7 endless, searching for updates
Running Windows 7 Professional SP1.
Try to download and install Windows 10 through the tool, it never downloads. After a further inspection, Windows Update had the red X and says that he had not been updated. After several discussions and solutions proposed, including the use of the patch tool (by using the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/910336 page) but also to delete the files in the Software Distribution folder.
Other attempts have me using the DISM tool and manually stop/start/restart the Background Intelligence Transfer Service and Windows Update through the administration tools. Currently able to search for updates, but it exceeds an eternal "check updates". Still can't update to Windows 10.
If Windows 7 have problems to find updates, causing heavy CPU or RAM with the Svchost.exe process, use the reason that Windows Update could not automatically update the Windows Update Client.

I saw that you can right click on each module in the Add-ons Manager to search for an update on this specific point, but does not search the updates on the whole as before 4? (at least I remember in 3.x I could search for updates on the whole...)
In the view of the modules, click on the symbol "gear" to the left of the search box.

Photoshop 2015.5 CC: no search for updates (called in the Help menu)
To check and install the latest updates for Photoshop you choose the "Help" menu > "Updates". Then Adobe Application Manager starts and indicates if there are updates or not (for all your Adobe software installed).
But in Photoshop CC 2015.5 this does not work. In bridge CC 6.2.0.179 and the latest version of InDesign, it works as it should.
Launch creative application of cloud and the search for updates also works.
Maybe it's a bug Photoshop CC 2015.5.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall but it does not solve it.
It is not a big problem, I wanted to just indicate.
Everything works now after reinstall, thank you

a way to not search for files in windows xp?
Is there a way to not search for files in windows xp?
You try to use the Windows Search 4.0 on your Windows. It accelerates the research and you will find the option to omit certain folders or locations where you do not want to search the files of Windows.
You can download Windows search through Windows updates, or you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/default.mspx. More information about windows search, you'll have thie site and some more available under it liks.

When searching for files in Windows Explorer (WIN 7), can the railways under folder reading "c:\help\me\please" instead of "Please (c:\help\me)?
Thank you!
What you can do is to do a search, right-click on any column heading (for example name, folder, etc.), and then click "Folder path" from the list that appears. You can also click to turn off the folder. The next time you're looking for in this area, this column of path of the folder should appear. You can drag the columns in a different order also.
