sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Then, click on the Start Menu, click computer, left click Local disk C once to highlight, right-click Local disk C and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click on the button "check the drive for errors.  In the next window make sure that both boxes are checked, then click Start.  Part of this process will require a reboot to check the disk.

I have flashed to the latest version of the bios, and other drivers from the Toshiba download page.

I'd be happy turn off standby but couldn't find where to do this. Any suggestion is welcome.

    Hello

I put really t know why this happens but it may be due to an application that won t be closed.
You have a similar problem with hibernation mode?

Check please the parameters in Toshiba power saver. Under properties of full power > power system mode you will find two options (by pressing the power button / stop and close the cover) and must not be set to Stand as an option. You can choose no action.

  • Comp hangs upon the release of the standby mode

I have a Pavillion g7 notebook comp running Windows 7. About a week after the expiration of the warranty he began to break down during the recovery from the sleep mode. Now, it crashes almost everytime. I tried to download updated drivers from HP.com, but it did not help. I would like to do a reinstall clean (don't know if it's exactly the right name for it) in which the model is returned to the State it was in when it was brand new, with the exception of save personal files in My Documents, my pictures, etc. The model did come with a disc to restore so I don't know how to do it. Thank you very much in advance for the help and be specific because I've never done this before.

There are several ways to recover the OS to factory settings... Here we go.

    (1) Please try to run the f11 recovery that will install the operating system using the recovery partition. It's the best way to solve the problem. type just hit f11 when the turn on/off the computer. (Make sure that the recovery media is already created by you using Manager HP recovery for future use).

    (2) snack F11 does not work and that you have created the media, use your own recovert holder that was created on the same computer.

    (3) where no one (f11 and self created dvd/CD) work and you need to get the DVD from DVD HP. order HP and use them to re - install the operating system.

This should help get the media.

Otherwise, please visit www.hp.com ; Select the country from the left of the bottom if you are outside the United States.

now, please select "support and drivers" > now click on drivers & software > enter a model number of your computer. (if the list is populated in the case of similar models are there in this series, select the model you have)

Select the operating system you have received this with computer and click Next > now, you should get an option "order recovery media - select it and under that you have the type of available media.» SELECT and the desired media.

Incase you have problem ordering media; You can try after some time or contact support HP to get media ordered.

also for the recovery of countries or products little online ordering is not available; in this case, the visit of the region/country ( www.hp.com and some countries). • EliteBook 8440p: problems of Expansion RAM HP 8440p

I recently decided to upgrade the memory on my EliteBook 8440p. After reading the form of RAM required, I bought one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/737970-kingston-4gb-1333mhz-204-pin-cl9-ddr3-sodimm-non-ecc-unbuffered-1-5v-me...

Once the new RAM is installed in the expansion slot, Windows will not start and crashes just on screen "starting Windows." Then I tried a test of memory using the system BIOS diagnostic tool, but the laptop either hangs around 35% (I left it there for about two hours), restarts, or stops altogether. I thought that I would give to the system try, repair tool but which caused also just the laptop restart. Curiously, when I check the "System information" tab the system diagnostics, the two RAM sticks are detected with current and accurate information.

I contacted eBuyer, they sent a replacement out there, but I'm having the same problem again. So, I thought I would try to install new RAM in the internal slot instead (under the keyboard), but now I have a BSOD during the 'Starting Windows' screen, give me code error, "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I read on some forums tech upward. One of them suggested runs what is called 'Memtest' at startup via the CD, I tried, but the laptop restarts only during the first passage of the test of memory (and of course some loops over and over again until I remove the CD).

I'm starting to lose hope! Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Satellite Pro P500 - standby and Shut Down crashing

I have a Satellite P500. Bought new with Windows 7. It is new and has had a bad hard drive replaced.

Since then, I've reconfigured everything and everything seems to be working - except when the sleep and the closure are activated, they do not work. Stop going just to close to the bottom of the screen and stays there for centuries until I force a stop down by holding down the power button. She won't be in standby mode and Hibernate properly either - drafts of the screen and hard drive starts to do something, but system remains active and fan works.

I found another forum thread where something similar happening in the model of the A300, and someone suggested to turn off the wake-up on LAN and keyboard settings. Both of these Jefferson already out on it so go there.

    Help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello

IF your laptop hangs on farm screen and doesn't go into hibernation/standby layout, I think that it s not bound as a result of the functions in the BIOS. This is more important if your computer starts up without any reason.

Anyway, in your case I would of BIOS update.

If this doesn t work you should try to reinstall Windows. This could also be a software problem.

I can't use the Hibernation mode and also in standby mode! After that passage to these forms of my laptop shows a blue screen with the message «Preparing for the Hibernation/standby mode...» "and... There is nothing after this message just as the comp is hanging. Please advise me someone what can I do with this.

I put t understand users who post something but without any information on the laptop, which the OS has been pre-installed, manually or the recovery CD, what was done on the laptop, (X) - etc.

Sorry for this comment but I hope you understand my point of view.
However, using the OS from Toshiba Recovery CD?

Usually if the Toshiba Power saver was installed on the laptop then this utility controls the Hibernate mode and the day before.
But as I mentioned above, the OS from the restore CD should work. If you installed it manually if something is missing.

    Hello

I na? t think the removal of the partition may have a bad influence on the standby or hibernation mode.
Have you used the Toshiba Power Saver profile? Pleas check in control panel-> power options.

In addition, I would recommend to check versions of driver available on the Toshiba page.
If there is for example a new graphics driver so try to update

  • EliteBook 8440p: elitebook 8440p upgrade of windows 10 mess with boot

    Hello!

I bought a refurbished elitebook 8440p with pre-installed windows 7, 8 GB of RAM, 2.40 GHz processor.  I continued to refuse the upgrade of windows 10 when he constantly jumped upward and then one day I turned on the computer and it updated in any cases without permission.

Since the upgrade, if I shut down my computer, or try to put in standby or Hibernate mode, when I go to wake up or put on, I always get a white screen. In general, I have to turn power several times on and off until any startup screen. Then half of the time, when I get a splash screen, my cursor is stuck at the top of the page, moving only left or right whenever I try to move it. So I have to turn and turn until a new screen is displayed.

I studied how to remove 10 windows and reinstall windows 7. I passed the period of 10 days or 30 days. Media creation tool asks for the product key which I type in the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, but do not pass the verification process saying to contact the manufacturer for help.  Apparently there may be specific drivers or something you took when it improved and the media tool does not allow me to create anything for me to do a clean reinstall of windows 7.

I tried to find an option after pressing esc at the f11 reset start screen. There was no option to do so. The best I could do was to 'reset' of the computer, but he took back to the original Windows that it is firstly set at level 10 to. All my files are deleted from the computer. I just want to return to Windows 7, but could not find an effective way to do it.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Laptop won't mode standby when open Web pages

My laptop (Dell latitude E6510) is not want of sleep / hibernate when I open webpages (Chrome). OS = XP.  If I click on standby, it just hangs. As soon as I close the Web pages, it is, even if I have other things open. He has only started this about 3 weeks ago.  Anything else causes, only open Web pages.

    Obvious questions (for me) are:

You are on the latest version of Chrome?
You have this problem with Internet Explorer?
You have this problem with Firefox (if you have installed FF)?

When you look out in the forums of Google Chrome, have you come across topics like this:

    http://productforums.Google.com/Forum/#! Searchin'/chrome/Eve/chrome/8BbDNAkF_qk/olwEA4Yg830J

There are some ideas here, but this topic is about a month old.

I have not seen this problem with the version of Chrome 24.0.1312.57m (which is what I was running earlier today), then I upgraded to version 26.0.1410.43m

Unfortunately, I got things running for awhile which I cannot test Stand By and Hibernate with this new version of Chrome, until they end :-((hours) and I'm too lazy to go to another system since I can't reproduce the problem.

I would say it looks like a Chrome issue because there are a lot of Internet chatter on this subject, if you search on Google and other beings human he reported in the forums of Chrome recently, so I would check out there and if you find the solution, I hope that you will do what it is!

    Original title: System hangs

Windows XP crashes each time I have open the control panel and try to view add or remove programs (it also crashes in safe mode). He locks also after has been idle for a few minutes. I tried selective startup mode and the shutdowns continue to be committed. All the screensavers and standby/hibernation modes are turned off. I ran the diagnostics and only met with a 2000-0146 error code. Any other ideas out there?

I was finally able to save all my data and was able to reformat my existing hard drive. I also reinstalled XP SP3. I finally got all the drivers reloaded and have reinstalled virus protection. So far, everything seems to be back to the standard...

  • R400/T400/T500/W500: display driver "amdkmdap" hangs

Summary: Lenovo ThinkPads with switchable graphics (R400, T400 and T500, W500) have problems of usability under Vista and using external monitors. More than six months, users have been plagued by frequent Windows crashes. During this time, Lenovo will not expressed complaints and reports available. The end of April 2009, Lenovo has solved a lot of problems by releasing a new official driver. However, several problems, including serious, remain as of today. Lenovo said to work actively on the issues pending (without results so far).

Important information for users: If you experience any of the problems reported here, then Lenovo will advise you to call your local Lenovo support. Application that a case is submitted to engineering equipment. In particular, you should ask "a case CMVC to be created and degenerate". These "code words" ensures that your case be treated correctly.

    Old description of the problem

On Vista 32 and Vista 64, the "amdkmdap" ATI display driver hangs when an external monitor was active before OR an application (game) using the DirectX technology is used. The user receives usually few messages called "Timeout detection and recovery" (TDR) of Vista:

(Click here for an explanation of the message from Microsoft)

Sometimes, amdkmdap falls down several times in a row. Then, Windows crashes with a so-called "BSOD", probably resulting in a loss of data. Generally, Windows detects "atikmpag.sys" as the driver to crash. Instant restart sometimes also independent from the front THAT TDR crashes. In such a case, no BSOD is displayed.

The following video illustrates the phenomenon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBX9QsCmrpY

Above this behavior has been confirmed for the following ThinkPad models: R400, T400 and T500, W500 (see below). Problem reports that symptoms are often related to play games or the laptop being docked and the external monitor connected via DVI.

However, the presence of these two conditions is not necessary to trigger the accident to the driver:

    1. There are reports where no dock was involved and the external monitor is connected directly to the laptop VGA port.
    2. In addition, there are reports where the laptop is docked and an external monitor is connected to the DVI port.
    3. So far, there were no reports related to a monitor connected on the display Port that is available on some models. (Perhaps because this port is not used.)
    4. There are a few cases where a dock, or an external monitor was involved.
    5. Some games with reliability triggers the crash.

    Steps to reproduce

While initially (around September 2008 - October 2008) the accident can be triggered easily, the situation is now (December 2008) more complex. Accidents happen again, although there is no clear model more. According to various reports, the crash of display driver can be triggered as follows:

    • The output of the mode standby
    • Watching a DVD.
    • Playing one of these games: Fallout 3, Bioshock, Team Fortress 2, Knights of the Old Republic.
    • Arbitrarily during the normal work. A normal working day, the problem occurs at least once.

    Other issues

Here are several questions that seem to be related. More information can be found in other posts in this thread:

    • The laptop screen or external monitor works at a low resolution after the release of the standby mode.
    • After the connection, both monitors flicker when the screen resolution setting.
    • External monitors can be activated using Presentation Director.
    • The external monitor is empty after the connection or disconnection.
    • There are a few reports on the accidents of display driver on computers running Windows XP.
    • Switchable graphics drivers more than 2.5 GB RAM usable under Vista 32 (or 500 MB - 1 GB less than usual).

    Workarounds

Lenovo has released a new "trick" document that provides a link to a new driver. Get it here , but be sure to read the instructions!

(Old advice follow below the line. Think of them as obsolete.)

    ---

Here are some tips that could make the problem happen less often. I have not tried all the. However, a. and b. have improved the situation for me; your mileage may vary.

    A. Si you don't have to use an external monitor, then move to the Intel graphics card for now.

    Otherwise:

    B. make a few changes to your system:

    • Disable Aero.
    • Create a new profile in the Manager of power supply with the following parameter: when running on AC, turn off the screen after 40 minutes. (And therefore, the laptop less frequently between standby mode.)
    • Install the latest graphics drivers.
    • Install the newest BIOS.
    • Install the latest Hotkey utility.
    • Install the latest drivers.

    C. disable switchable graphics in the BIOS setup and install the drivers from ATI modded (see zilla poster in this thread for instructions).

The last solution (c.) has been confirmed to work reliably by several users. However, as a result, you use drivers that have not been tested by Lenovo. It is possible (but not likely) that damage the results by doing so. In addition, it may be difficult to install a Lenovo driver that solves the problems reported here. Finally, you cannot use the energy saving Intel graphics. Thus, you must use this workaround only if you know what you're doing.

The programs can be downloaded from the following locations. Note that update system not always immediately offers you the latest versions.

    Update:

-Lenovo support informed me today (2008-10-24), they are working on the problem.
