• Autonomous AP 1142n, 2.4 Ghz radio keeps going down

  Hi all

  We have recently installed two 1142n APs. 2.4 Ghz Radion is activated and 5 GHz is disabled.

  Every day the material side of the radios down to two access points. Software remains upward. Only a reloading solves the problem.

  They are all two the same SSID broadcast because they correspond to our network of comments. Logs show nothing other than the deauthenticating of the customers and moments where the radio down.

  Any recommended points that I have to look?

  Once again, since the Radio 0.1 brdges traffic... I guess we need activate the interface... However since we hv not configuured a SSID for this interface, there is no problem if we unshut DOT11 interface 0.1...

• Satellite L505 - WPA2-PSK does not work, but works of WPA - PSK

  I have a Satellite L505 and I tried to use WPA2-PSK security to connect to my Netgear DGN2000 router, since I read that only this authentication allows speed Wireless-N, but it does not work. I chose it as the mode to use on the router and Windows 7 64 bit on my laptop, so everything should work properly. If I set everything up to use WPA - PSK, then I can connect us, but the connection is terrible, even when I put the phone right next to the router. It indicates the quality of the signal is excellent and that it is connected to 54Mbs, but if I set up a ping to the router I can see over time, it goes up to 4 seconds and continually to expire. This means that the internet is unusable wireless.

  For this reason, I was hoping I could get Wireless N work and I hope that the connection would be better. Someone can tell me why WPA - PSK works but not WPA2-PSK? (I tried versions of the AES and TKIP)

  On Windows XP, you need to install the Windows Update KB917021 as you can read here:

  I'll try to updated the WLAN driver. You can get the latest version on the Toshiba site.

  Finally and above all it s always advisable to update the firmware on your router. You can get on the page of manufacturing of the router where you should find a changelog too.

• L7780 WPA - PSK index value

  I think it's pretty simple, but I am unable to find a concrete response so far. The settings of the wireless on the L7780 interface supported by the selection of an index key other 1 to search for wireless networks.

  I wonder if you meant index WEP as WPA - PSK does not use the concept of a key index.

  To change the index WEP, temporarily connect the L7780 with an Ethernet cable to your network and browse the web page internal printer.  Select wireless, wireless network, and then modify the index WEP as you wish.  Unplug the cable and the printer must connect to your wireless network.

  Just curious - must - use you WEP?  Can you switch to WPA - PSK?

• WPA - PSK connection problem

  My new HP mini can connect to my router, if she has no protection.  When I got to the shelter with WPA - PSK and I put the password and everything, my mini HP cannot connect.  All parameters are good, so I don't know what could be the problem...  The router name when I look for an internet connection, but it will not just connect - and it does not give an error message.  I know the router is working, because my desktop computer can connect to it very well.  You simply suggests having the router with no protection, but I do not exactly as if other people use, it's going slowly.

  Any suggestion or help or anything that could possibly solve my problem would be greatly appreciated (and the real problem is that I want to connect my computer HP mini to the router when the router has some sort of protection, which must not be WPA - PSK)

  Well, I said to my brother (very good with computers) on the problem, and he said that it was the operating system, and whether you have reinstall windows XP or get Ubuntu.  I ended up getting ubuntu that I didn't have a CD Player for the HP mini.  Now he can connect to WPA and it works fine.  So I think that my brother was it's the operating system.

  P.S. - If you get Ubuntu, it runs 10 times faster, and it supports a large number of windows aps - this is my first time using Ubuntu and it RULES!

  I like it much more, because you can't get adware - literally, as ubuntu works aps .exe (although with a program called wine)

• Cisco Aironet SAP1602E - changing open to WPA - PSK access remote (RAP and map)

  I currently have a deployment of Cisco Aironet SAP1602E Wireless point to point bridge (bridge using RAP and card, root wireless and Non-Root Bridge) to expand a layer 2 VLAN from one building to the other. It currently operates uisng open authentication and encryption - and is administered remotely via the bridge of root, to get wireless (manage) the bridge Non-Root - RAP wireless remote.

  Try to configure the PSK WPA2-PSK remotely via the GUI or CLI - first setup - I informed a similar error to her below indicating that:

  Error: Key-management WPA is requried for WPA-PSK

  Read around, it seems, there is a configuration-control problem, and that I need to specify the mode as WPA2-PSK first, before then being able to specify the PSK there instead of using.   You're right, and because you will have to enter several lines of configuration to switch to WPA2-PSK with AES didn't really matter; the AP would reset the radio anyway because you make changes related to the radio interface. It would be very useful that if Cisco router/switch IOS 'macro' feature available AP thus in changes like this, unfortunately this is not the case.

  Start with the nonroot AP and make sure that the following lines are added to your configuration. If you add by the console, the order must be like that, do it by downloading a new configuration of booting with tftp, that it does not matter.

  I have several Aironet 1300 connected via WPA - PSK. One of them is just down (non-root) and I do not know the WPA - PSK. 4 working again, I encrypted the hash from the configs. Is it possible that I can break one of them to acquire the key? I want to talk about the key to the line that reads:

• Aironet 2600 WPA PSK

  I'm trying to set up a new Aironet2600 with the web configuration utility wireless access point. Only, I need a simple unique SSID no VLAN and want to use WPA/WPA2 PSK security. Is there a way to configure the device in this way in the config of the web? If not, is there a walkthru basic config to use the IOS CLI? I have a basic understanding of the CLI, but he did years that I used it.

  Hi Brian,.

  It is easy to give you an example of a config to do via CLI.

  If you configure your AP as below & connect to a DSL modem/router DHCP already defined in this topic, you should be able to get the user wireless connect to the SSID.

  If you connect this Cisco switch, then you must configure the DHCP pool on which to spend (for the vlan 1) & then connect this access point to a default switchport (should be on the vlan 1).

I installed Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), but the wireless card was not recognized first (it is a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC), so I went to realtek drivers page and downloaded the drivers but it didn't work, so I went to the toshiba support page and then I found the package with drivers fully functional under 64-bit windows 7... Well I thought.

  I have two wireless access points I needed to connect: with WPA (TKIP + AES) protection and the other with WPA - PSK. Initially, it didn't work at all with the windows Connection Wizard, the wpa key interpreted... and he was always asking for it. So I installed ConfigFree toshiba web site and I have connected to my WPA (TKIP + AES), but the other doesn't work at all, it always says "connection error" (with ConfigFree)...
  I know that the L505 series is very recent and that she needs an appropriate driver (not only in Windows, but also Linux).

• Satellite P100-160 refuses to connect to my router 3Com with WPA - PSK

  Help! My new laptop Toshiba refuses to connect to my router 3Com (f/w 2.06T13) model 3cWDR100A on WPA - PSK. The router only supports TKIP (no AES).

  The laptop, a Satellite P100-160 is under Vista Home Premium with the latest Intel 3945 11.5.0.32 driver and I tried the version of the site Web of Toshiba version mentioned in other threads (and a few other versions also).

  Either way, I don't like latest driver hit with content identical binary files and different date stamps or running of the anonymous installers that have not been digitally signed.

  The problem is that non-encrypted, or WEP works perfectly, but WPA - PSK is not. It fails with a diagnostic message 'timeout for secondary keys. The thing will be very occasionally connect to the network without a timeout (before I tried to improve things with the last pilot about 1 in 20 attempts after a reboot, now it comes rather from 1 to 100). If I can be sure that the password is correct. When it connects everything is fine and stable with excellent signal until the first suspended and then the connection is lost. It's more than a little irritating.

  I see several topics of doom similar networks to Vista support groups. They all seem to hinge around WPA - PSK TKIP and WiFi Intel chipset x 945 in combination with certain models of router. Please can anyone help solve this mess?

  I've seen other threads of networking in Vista by users with this specific Intel chipset and my router model having exactly the same problem and so far nobody has found a solution. I checked the basics of knowledge (MS & 3Com) and tried a few plausible fixes, but nothing helped. I'm out of ideas.

  It seems a little absurd to demote network security to make the latest PC works correctly. Dumping Vista (however tempting) is not an option.

  As you can see this is not Toshiba specific stuff and if there is no 'global solution' I don't really know what Toshiba should do about it. As you all know it should support hardware and software (driver), but if not I don't really see a solution for this.
  Who should offer a solution? Toshiba or Intel?  :|

  The same thing happened on my old laptop.
  I was not able to establish the WiFi connection for more than 1 min with WPA encryption.
  I downloaded the latest Atheros driver and updated everything.
  Everything works very well with WEP but not WPA.

  Then I disabled the option to clean Windows configuration and use the Atheros utility. Now everything works fine!
  I recommend using the Intel Proset utility and check all the possible settings!
