8700 XPS with 32 GB of RAM

The current Bureau of XPS 8700 more high-spec has 24 GB of memory.

I would like to purchase additional DELL memory modules so that the total is 32 GB with the best performance.

I could not find the description of the pre-installed modules, so my questions are:

Are the 3x8GB of pre-installed modules 24GO so that there is basically a spare DIMM connector?

If I buy a compatible XPS8700 with 8 GB module from the dell Web site, how can I make sure it matches exactly those pre-installed?

Thank you very much.

Where are you located?

Each of the systems that I looked into the House of Dell, Dell work and member of Dell purchase program that ships with 16 or 24 GB comes with 4 DIMMs, which means you'd have to remove some memory to 32 GB.

If you click on details for a specific system in the Dell Configurator, you should see the number of DIMMs specified - at least you can in my area. For example, the XPS8700 with 24 GB special edition says:

24GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600 MHz - 4 DIMMs

You can try using the chat or call Dell directly to see if you can order the system with 32 GB. Sometimes they will do it.

  • 8700 XPS with 460w, will this work?

    Hello

I have an 8700 XPS with 4790 I7, 8 GB ram and 1 GB of hard drive.

Recently I added a few additional things: 2.5 two hard drives, a Blu - ray burner and a MSI GeForce 960 4 GB.

My question is, will the power 460w HANDLE all these components or is it better to buy a new power supply? If it's too it would make a difference to just delete the DVDRW and keep the Blu - ray burner?

I am interested I will ruin the computer, but don't know if I know how to install a new power supply.

    Thanks for your help!

    I think you'll be fine.

The PSU is the same model in the 8700, and who had a 660 optional GTX which has similar power to draw on the 960.

Memory, a Blu - Ray player burned a disc is about 30 watts vs a burning a DVD - RW disc is 25W, otherwise, 1 to 3 watts in mode standby, 5 - 10W reading.

3.5 "hard drives use more voltage 2.5" and most of that is when you start, but probably not more than 10W for a recent SATA vintage at the start and a few watts running.

Draw draw max graphics card will be when the games or stress test and most people are not of game and burning optical discs at the same time once again, I think you'll be fine.

  • Upgrade of Ram card mother 8700 XPS

I bought the regular version of the 8700 XPS that came with 8 GB of ram not the 8700 XPS Special Edition.

I got contradictory information service to Dell customers on the amount of ram, the card mother the regular XPS 8700 supports. When I bought, but have read on the forum that it is only 16 GB, I said 32 GB of Dell.

Can someone confirm please the amount of ram, the card mother the regular XPS 8700 can handle? Please, I beg you.

    Hi chrisyackulic,

Dell XPS 8700 has 4 x 240 pin slots DDR3L/DDR3 SDRAM supporting the Dual Channel DDR3L SDRAM up to 1600 MHz. The XPS 8700 supports a maximum of 32 GB of system memory. If you install DDR3L, all other modules should be DDR3L (1.5 V) only.

  • DELL XPS 8700 compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232 office

HI - can anyone confirm that the DELL XPS 8700 desktop computer is compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232.

Already, I have the monitor, but need a new processor unit.

    Thank you...

    Hi yydelilah,

The monitor has VGA and DVI ports.

By default, XPS 8700 comes with HDMI and display port.  If the system is configured with a discrete card, and this card has DVI/VGA port, you will be able to connect to this monitor.

  • Weird noise of 8700 XPS

I noticed a weird noise with my new 8700 XPS. It is difficult to explain what it looks like so I did a short record of the noise. You can listen to it here http://picosong.com/YQgV/ and it happens at the level of the 2 second mark in audio recording.

The noise happens every 15 to 30 seconds and other times it will happen not for 3-5 minutes.

Here are the specs of the computer if that helps.

Dell XPS 8700, Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 ghz, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Sandisk Extreme II 240 GB SSD for the OS and programs, 1 TB HDD, ram 24 GB (8 GB of Dell and 16 GB of Crucial)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It is the sound of the HDD heads parking. If you have a Seagate drive isn't what it is for sure, Seagate is infamous for having readers that anchor their heads noisily. My Seagate Momentus 7200.4 in my XPS L502X does this noise all the time.

  • 8700 XPS computer and monitor P2217

I'm unable to connect the xps

    8700 computer with p2217

monitor.  They are even compatible?  I get no signal VGA.  I had two different p2217

monitors and get the same response.  Have you tried video adapter n, t work either.  Can not do a factory reset on the monitor.  Nothing happens.  Don't get too no signal DP.  I worked with a Dell technician and we couldn't make it work.  DEll sent me a replacement and that no longer works.  Any suggestions?

The P2217 has the following ports = VGA/HDMI/DP video

Here is a picture of a 8700 XPS standard.

Do you see ports such as 11/12/13 on your 8700 XPS? If so, an added discreet video card has your XPS 8700. This is where the P2217 must be connected.

  • Installation of a BLU - RAY DRIVE internal in a 8700 XPS PC.

My purchase of a Dell XPS 8700 computer has arrived, and I want to install a drive internal blu - ray since mine did not come with one.

    Is this possible?

I'm a bit of a novice in computer science and I watched videos online of the people equip their computer with a blu - ray player, but none of them is featured a 8700 XPS.  Can anyone help me with instructions on how to:

    -Open the computer

-connect/install the blu - ray player?

I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you!

    Hello

It should be possible.  The XPS 8700 should come with unused bays where the blu - ray player can be adapted.   But I must warn you that you're dealing with electronics when you do the upgrades and installs.  Please make sure that you watch videos that explain all the security requirements when it comes to the delicate pieces.

Here is the link to the manuals for the 8700 XPS.   It has both a guide and the specifications for you to review document.  Again, I strongly recommend reading the safety precautions section and "before you begin" to get a better understanding of what you need to do.

It should also be a section in the manual to know how to install a replacement disk, which will essentially be the step by step instructions.

Good luck and don't forget to follow the safety guides and installation instructions completely.

  • Specifications of 8700 XPS is a blank PDF, the link for manuals and Documentation

A disappointment and inconvenience on the page for 8700 XPS and Documentation: http://dell.to/10AzZux , is that the 'Spécifications' link generates a blank PDF file.
I hope someone at Dell will correct this.

Thank you all for responding - tips for update browser and Adobe Flash could immediately.

However, an earlier statement, the office video Forum, including URL - 8700 escapes me as I write, was to use "Internet Explorer".    Sorry for not not to give direct credit to this employee of Dell.

Recalling their advice, I used IE on a laptop Win - XP, IT worked!

    (Version of IE 8.0.6001.18.702).

Firefox Chrome & on the same laptop Win - XP showed NOT 'Spécifications' properly, but as a blank PDF page.

Unlike other manuals, which are PDF files, on the page of 8700 XPS and Documentation: http://dell.to/10AzZux or www.dell.com/.../xps-8700, the 'specifications' are a web page with a collection of links to pages of spec of separate component, selected and displayed as separate web pages.

The operating system where I reported the problem had been Linux Ubuntu 10,04.4 with Firefox and Chrome browsers.

On the laptop Win - XP, Firefox and Chrome browsers display once again 8700 XPS as a white page PDF specifications.

The likely answer is, in my opinion, to use Internet Explorer to look at the specifications of 8700 XPS.

Thanks for your recommendations.  Next time, I'll be more precise about the Machine, OS, browser &.

For now, I want to order a 8700 XPS.

Yes, your MacBook accepts two RAM sticks of 4 GB, 8 GB total, you'd better update the firmware Version MB51.007D.B03.

  • Power supply for my P7-1410 with 16 GB of RAM

    Hello

I installed my new GEFORCE GTX650 video card in my HP Pavilion P7 1410 with 16 GB of RAM.  Is it my PC to handle the EVGA-SuperNOVA NEX750B 750W power supply?  Is this too much for this model?

    Thank you

    WND

    Hello

You may need to use a shoehorn so he can adapt.  The physical dimensions of a standard power SUPPLY HP block is 5,9 "x5.5"x3.4. The Corsair CX600 or CX500 would be better physical shape.  Some of the older PC HP lights with blocks of power more than 650 watts.

I have a model end of 2013 13 MacBook Pro with 4 GB or RAM retina and think to upgrade to El Capitan. Is this enough RAM

Of course you can upgrade to El Capitan. But I think better if you can change the internal hard drive (SATA drive) in the SSD drive. You will get better results, faster than still, you only have 4 GB. This is mine... MacBook pro in early 2011.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 - works does not with 2 sticks of RAM

    Hi all

I've been with sticks of 2 x 512 MB RAM from a reliable supplier that reassures me that this RAM is compatible with the SP2100 laptop.

With the two sticks installed, as soon as the machine is running, I get no display and 5 beeps (1 long, a follow-up of 4 short beeps). Each stick of RAM work well individually, and I also tested slot A and b. Thus, the 2 sticks of RAM are working alone and work the two slots. It seems that this machine has a problem with 2 sticks of RAM.

The ACPI BIOS is up to date (v1.40). I also tried the old 256 MB stick with one of the new sticks of 512 MB - same problem. I tried this as the supplier of memory mentioned this Toshiba may take only 1 GB maximum.

Any ideas why two sticks of RAM does not work?

    Thanks in advance and amicably.

    James

    Hello

You are right. The laptop must be able to manage memory 1024Mo. (2 x 512 MB)
Due to your description, I think that both modules are compatible, but cannot play together.
In my opinion, you should use two modules with the same specifications

    Try to use the modules recommended by Toshiba;
    PC2100 256 MB (PA3127U - 1 M 25)
    PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51)

  • Can I put my L750-11W Satellite with 16 GB of RAM?

I saw written in Intel website that my i3-2310 can cope with 16 GB ddr3 1333 mhz RAM, but on the Toshiba site, they say that the max ram is 8 GB, so my question is:

Is it possible that my laptop can e improved (installed) 8 GB 16 GB?

Upgrade of RAM depends on mainboard support and no CPU support.
Your laptop can handle with 8 GB of RAM only, and you can't improve it with 16 GB.

  • Satellite L30 - BSOD with 2 GB of RAM

    Hi all

I have some problems, I can not explain on my * PSL33E L30 *. I bought 2 GB of RAM to put in it, but it makes Windows crashes (BSOD). I already tested memories, they all work alone. Of course they have all the right tip.
Is there something to change in the BIOS or something?

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

If you get a BSOD with 2 GB of RAM, it seems that the modules are not compatible to your laptop in dual channel mode.

I m not a technician but I mean that's the only possible reason because you wrote that they all work opportunity so they are not defective.

I put t know which modules you bought, but you should test the other modules. I have good experiences with the Kingston memory modules.
