9205 module: measures incorect

Hello

I have 2-9205-32 modules HAVE in a chassis cRIO 9074 channel. 1 is in the 7 location and we're in the slot 8. I access data using function blocks Scan Engine Advanced IO at a sampling frequency of 100 Hz, with the default time of 8us between samples. All channels are NRSE on a scale of 5 v.

Each speaker plugs into is the circuit attached. The current source is the result of a transducer of current LEM or module LV - 20 p (Rm = 140) or a LT 100 - T (Rm = 49.9).

I started testing with Channel 9 live. When the cRIO is not connected, I measured with a multimeter output voltage of 1.19V on channel 9 and nothing but noise on another channel. Now, when I connect the module 9205, 9 channel value falls to 1.14V as read by a multimeter, and more important again, channel 25 now reads ~0.504V. If I just channel 25 disconnect the module, the module reports a 1.14V input voltage, the same as Channel 9. If I measure the voltage with a multimeter, pressure on channel 25's only ~ 10 mV.

I tried the two 9205 modules and they give the same results. Right now I'm running out of ideas, because it's clearly something internal to the 9205, and also I can not reproduce this behavior with all channels. In other words, if I bring channel 8 live instead, he behaves very well, but channel 9 and 25 are always coupled a reason any.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you

Jon

I must have misunderstood. I thought that you said in the previous post that you use LabVIEW 2009 f2 patch. You should still be able to get the fix in LabVIEW 8.6.1 by upgrading your version of NOR-RIO. All versions starting with 3.1 contain the fix and support LabVIEW 8.6.1.  The current version, OR RIO 3.4, also has this support.

  • Can I send several 24V signals to an analog input of 9205 module?

I have a few 24V power of signals I want to open a session.  I can send them to an analog input of 9205 module?  I know that the module is a +/-10V, then the signals would be clip around 10V (which is fine for what I need).  However I don't know if the surge protection is adequate.  The manual States the 9205 module can take up to 30 v, but on one page it says "a channel only.

Can I connect 6 channels that could have 24V on them at the 9205 module, or it will damage the module?

    Hi David,

He is Alexander M with National Instruments.  I wouldn't recommend exceed the nominal range for the analog input.  Built in +/-30V power surge protection is, well, protection in the case where the outdated input voltage +/-10V.  Seized several times near surge protection power can damage the device.  Depending on what your design considerations are, you can consider buying a new module that can handle the voltage, or with the help of a style of transistor voltage regulator to lower your logical voltage from 24V to 5V or 10V.

  • With the NI 9205 module Max sampling rate - problems

    Dear friends,

I develop a project of lv, which makes and control system of engine dyno. The material is CRio-9022 with other cards and also 9205 for AI. There is an encoder for angle attached to the motor shaft with 3600 chatted by Tower as well as an index to indicate the end of a revolution. the output of the encoder is measured by card 9411. The speed of the motor is 1500 rpm. I measure pressure data and couple when I receive a 'tick' of the wheel. This means my sampling rate for pressure and torque each is 90KO/s.

but I was not successful to lead it. The program is great and I can show them, but I believe that there is a problem in the choice of material for the task. With the data of pressure and torque of the 9205, I also measure other channels for the controller output mass flow and temperatures. So in all I use 8 channels of the 32 available. But only the pressure and torque are acquired at the wheel-driven sampling rate. the rest are acquired about 5 times per second.

Since the 9025 is a multiplexing ADC, 250K sampling frequency is divided by the number of channels accessed = 250 K/8 = 31 K samples/channel. With this in mind, I decided to acquire data of pressure and torque with each beat 3rd rotary encoder, essentially on 30K samples/s sampling. However, I see a large amount of noise.

So I decide to average more than 1 second cycles (so the engine runs at about 25 cycles/sec, I averaged over this issue). The resulting pressure and torque graphics do not match with those measured by an oscilloscope in terms of amplitude but the frequency and shape is correct.

I noticed an interesting feature in the charts. When I pass interpolation between the points, I see several curves made by points instead of a continuous locus of points. Accordingly, I find that the acquisition is slower than necessary, and so there are less number of points sampled as required. These points are not synchronized 25 cycles I have on average and therefore the separate "curves". It is because of the possibility that some points receive a higher number of 'contributions' several times (when you add), the neighbouring points.

so I conculde that the 9205 is not fast enough to do the job. also noise, perhaps due to crosstalk or gosting when the mux changes channels. the impdences output pressure and the couple are of the order of 10 K ohms.

the Labview code outline: well, there is a vi FPGA, which takes the rotary encoder ticks and sends a signal to the case of each 3rd tick. The signal contains a 16-bit integer, indicating the number of ticks. This signal is sent to a 1 element FIFO. This fifo is read in a parallel while loop, where it remains awaiting a new element. The while loop bed fifo, where data are available, takes a measure of pressure channel. A node memory of the method is called to provide data according to contained in the index number equal to the number of ticks to signal fifo. Then he adds the current pressure reading to the reading of the memory and stores the sum in the same memory location.  Thus, an array of elements of 1200 is formed, where each elemnt is a sum of the values taken of more than 25 cycles. This memory is transferd to a dma fifo and reading side host. is done similarly to involved couple. host-side the fifo is read and divided by 25 to get the average. This average is displayed on a waveform graph.

Please check the attached file to get an idea of the problem. Sorry for the long post.

Please suggest if you understand the problem and suggesstions or solutions.

  • NEITHER 9205

    Hello

I have 3 questions autour of nor 9205.

1 / I use 9205 to measure a voltage of 5 Volts, and there is a peak level of 15V (trig) under normal conditions of my .it signal. Now, I want to know if this pic can destroy my card because neither 9205 a +/-10V min max level.

    2 / How could I configure ni9205 caliber (10V, 5V 1V, 200mV) without fpga tools?

3 / ni9205 has a minimum of +/-200 mV, I want to measure a millitension. What type of card you propose for this?

    Thank you

    Kind regards!

    Hello

To answer your first question, there is a surge protection. (see this link: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/374188d.pdf on page 19)

Your module is not destroyed if you apply a voltage lower than 30 V for only the channel.

To configure your module, you can use NO-DAQmx which is the driver for this card for Windows.

What platform do you use with it?

When you install NI-DAQmx, there are some examples that are intalled.

The 9205 could be set up to measure the voltage whose range is +/-200 mv with precision of 0,174 mV. (sse this link: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/374188d.pdf page 22)

With this record, you are able to measure the tension between +/-200 mV with a precision of 0,174 mV.

I think that you need not to anothere card unless you want better accuracy.

  • NEITHER 9205 always returns the noise from rail to rail.

    Hi all

I'm completely stumped on this one. I went through the procedure of implementation of the NI 9205 module in my project. Setting the channel to the appropriate type. Placed the node IO in my FPGA code, read and all I get is noise from rail to rail, that is, whatever the measurement range is, I'm getting noise across the range. I ran it as a measure of CSR, as a measure differential, differential with COM updated wrt my diet, differential with COM Earth and the mass of the chassis connected to my powersupply ground.

Rail to rail noise ringing bells for anyone?

I checked with an oscilloscope that the appropriate signal is seen on the pins in all the configurations above. I even unplugged and plugged a 3 v battery through the pines and still noise from rail to rail get.

    Help!

HM, I used the 9205 before, but didn't have never seen something like this. I am more fan of data buffering in a FIFO, rather than reading a control value, but still, you shouldn't see this kind of securities for a reason that I don't see. I had problems with the modules where something is messed up and randomly, the signal will drop out then go back (in fact, I am about to send an or because it is still under warranty, but it's in a portable box, so I think that he may have had problems with shock or something of the sort). I wish I had a good answer for you, but you seem you know what you're doing, so it could be one of those cases where there is a hardware problem.  You have any other module HAVE you can share and see if those working in this niche? You can try it in a different location to maybe see there is a connection from bad backplane? You can also check if your local rep OR has a loan that they can indulge for a day, just to see if another 9205 works. Usually, these are the steps I take when I think that there may be a hardware problem. Unfortunately, except that I don't have a lot of input for you.

  • Ethernet affecting measurements on compactRio stand-alone

    Hi all

I have CompactRio cRio-9024 with Modules 9205 and 9217. CompactRio runs independently, without connection to a PC.

I have a RTD resistance thermometer, it's a PT1000 2 son. 9217 does not support 2-wire RTD, so I use 9217 as a current source and use jumpers to NI9205 to measure the voltage on the cables, so calculate the resistance of the sensor. (Resistance = voltage 9205 / constant current of 1mA 9217)

In addition to the RTD, I have also other devices connected to NI9205, what differential voltage is recorded measurred. Everything works well before PT1000 is connected.

The problem is, somehow the Ethernet affects all measures on the NI 9205 module. When Ethernet is connected to the PC (PC does not need to be turned on, simply connected), everything would work fine. When Ethernet is not connected, all the tension would be down and even go to negatives. I don't understand how it could be possible, that Ethernet could affect the system.

Any ideas? Maybe there is another way to measure the 2 wires PT1000 or how could remove the Bug of Ethernet?

    Thank you all in advance!

I would check for a ground problem. Sounds like your ethernet cable will carry a field, which isn't good. The cRIO otherwise is somehow?

  • Many signals with ditch (NI 9229 and NI 9205) devices multi 9188 cDAQ chassis

I use a chassis equipped with 9188 OR cDAQ with 6 x NI 9229 (6 x 4 HAVE simultaneous chnls sampled with aliasing filter) and a NI 9205 (32/16 HAVE chnls single/premium multiplexecd chnls). I created a simple mind task the DAQ Assistant to acquire 12 chnls with the module NOR 9229 modues and 4 with the NI 9205 module. A generator is used to produce a sine wave with a frequency of 10 Hz and an amplitude of 500 mVpp as input to all channels. The same generator also produce a square wave (synchron to sine) which is used as input trigger (PFI 0 - BNC connector on the chassis). The acquisition is expected to have samples end up a flow of 2 kHz and a datalength of 4000 samples (this means a time of acquisition of 2 seconds) controlled by a digital reference triggered with the cADQn/PFI0 as a source of relaxation.

My problem is the time difference between signals acquired with the NI 9229 module and those acquired with the module NI 9205 (see the attachment). The time difference is not constant and change when the frequency of the input signal varies. I guess the difference is due to aliasing filters used in the NI 9229 module and I'm looking for how to resolve the situation. Any help will be appreciated...

    Philippe

By the research and reading, OR knowledge base I solve the problem by making a dummy read on the NI 9229 channels before reading from the device OR 9205.

According to the specifications of the NI 9229 module, there is a delay of filter (digital filter) of more or less 40 samples that are present only in the case of a digital triggering.

Reason and solution of this problem are explained here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/F989B25FF6CA55C386256CD20056E27D.

I have applied the solution presented in this paper and this is excellent work.

    Now, this problem is solved.

  • Problem with the sensor of pressure and NI 9205 with NI 9263

I have a bridge pressure sensor based with a range of 0 - 5000 psi and requires a 10 V excitation. The output is 3 mV/V. I plugged on a cDAQ with a NI 9263 providing excitement V 10 and a NI 9205 to read the output values. I would expect a 0-30 mV output corresponding to 0 - 5000 psi, correct? (Incidentally, the NI 9205 module must be accurate to 0,1 mV or this should lead to a precision of about 16 psi, right?).

However, when I tested it in fact the sensor on the run a test ranging from 0 to 1000 and back to 0 lb/po2 (now for quite awhile to States of pressure) the values I get from the NI 9205 are about 204.614 mV for 0 lb/po2 and then goes 204.867 mV to 1000 lb/po2 (actual results are noisy (, so these are averages). I enclose the SignalExpress file used for the test as well as the Excel file containing the resutls. Testing was performed with a number of other active sensors (load and displacement, LVDT and gagues strain gauges) in addition to the pressure that I'll eventually use them for my experience. In the SignalExpress file, the pressure transducer is the only sensor receives the excitement of the NI 9263 (ao_0) and ai_3 on the NI 9205 module.

So this time I tried to run the test again, but changed the SignalExpress file (second .seproj attached) to include only the pressure transducer. But now I don't have an answer at all by the transducer (it remained simply flat).

As to the connection of the transducer material, it is a connection 4-wire (excitement, - Exciation + Signal - Signal). I plugged the cables from signal to pins 4 and 23 (AI3 and AI11) for a differential pair. Then, I plugged the son of excitement to the pins 0 and 1 (AO0 and COM). Finally, I took a wire jumper and connected 23 on the NI 9205 module PIN to pin 1 on the NI 9263. I made this last step at the suggestion of support OR for a previous problem with a string potentiometer. This stage connected the ground between the two modules (the sensor did not answer with a pressure change when I don't have the wire).

I appreciate any help as to why. I did not receive a 0-30 exit mV.

his does not work like that.

The probe should @30mA to 10VDC.  There is only available from the canal AO 9263 1mA.  you need another power supply.

  • Acquisition of data NOR-9205 Assistant set up range of input voltage

How to configure the module NI9205 to use the +/-200mV input range.

I use a custom scale, and it seems that I can not get an accurate reading.  I use a shunt current of 100 Ma (max 10A).  So I custom balance setting to have 100 x + b.  The current flowing in the device is 2 amps and I get a reading of 12-13 amps after custom scale.  Now I think the module is configured to sample for the entrance of 10V and I get an error of resolution.

    Hi therbert

Since your custom scale is 100 x, to work on the beach of +/-200 mV to your NI 9205 module you must configure your input signal of maximum and minimum range for +/-20 respectively.

    According to the equation: Range.max * scale.slope = 200mV * 100 = 20V

This will automatically configure to the scope of the module +/-200 mV to verify you can access the channel DAQmx property node and look for the analog input > General Properties > advanced > Range property, this will let you know in what range is the functioning of the device.

  • Accelerometer for several modules in a cRIO

    Dear all,

I try to connect my model 805M 1 accelerometer (form is attached) to one of our cRIOs in lab, I think I need some advice because we have two cRIOs and bunch of modules I want to use them instead of buying another module. We have these controllers and modules:

    NEITHER cRIO-9073

    NEITHER cRIO-9024

    NEITHER 9265

    NEITHER 9237

    NEITHER 9205

    NEITHER 9203

I think I can excite (he needs 3 v to 5.5 v) the acceleremoter with for example NI 9237 and read it with NI 9205. Am wrong me or is there another combination that I can use?

    I appreciate your help.

    Best,

    Bardiya

    BAK777,

Yes, you can use the NI 9237 module to provide the voltage using a custom voltage customized by excitement and ignore the input data for this task. You can read in the output voltage of your accelerometer on the NI 9205 module.

According to the characteristics of the accelerometer signal, it might be useful to research using an Analyzer of dynamic signals (DSA) module, such as the NI 9234, which is made for the acquisition of accelerometer data applications.

  • Synchronization of the NI 9205

    Hi all

I use cDAQ9188 with 03 modules OR 9205. One thing I want to clarify is that cDAQ9188 will provide synchronization between the three 9205 modules or or other devices also require for this purpose?

NO DAQMAX software provides some guidance if these three modules mounted on the cDAQ operate on the same clock (sync) or independentaly?

    Best regards

    Assuming you have the 9205 s 3 in a single chassis 9188:

If you configure a single task with each of your 3 9205 s it contains DAQmx will synchronize the modules for you.

If you make 3 separate tasks (what is actually possible on the 9188 with up to 3 analog input synchronization engines), they would not synchronized automatically (you could still make the roads yourself, but it would just add complexity to your application in relation to all 3 modules in a single task).

  • How to use NI 9264 and NI 9205 with NI PXI-7813R and cRIO-9151

    Hello world

I am currently working on an application in time real NI PXI-7813R (map FPGA) and NI PXI-8184 (on-board controller). They are all in an NI PXI-1031 chassis.

I need to generate/receive analog signals.

I already managed to use the SCB-68 with my NI PXI-7813R (FPGA card) to process digital signals. (Slot 0)

Connector 1 and 3 of my FPGA I have respectively cRIO-9151 with NI 9264 for analog and cRIO-9151 output with NI 9205 for the analog input.

    • with NI 9264, I have on every 16 outputs-10, 5V (!) Isn't it supposed to be between-10 and 10V?), whether or not the vi runs. (But not when my PXI turned...)
    • with the NI 9205 module, I always get-32767 when the VI is running, regardless of pressure I apply. (I tested AI0 and AL10)

Maybe is my hardware not configured properly? I did the configuration automatically, when I started the project, Labview detected the devices connected.

Unfortunately, MAX does not seem to be useful because inputs and outputs are on the FPGA...

    Any idea?

    Thank you

PS: VI on the FPGA is really basic, only read/write controls.

    Hello

    Back with the solution...

My modules came! Each of them has been plugged in the wrong cRIO-9151.

This must occur after the first configuration.

I noticed when I right click on my fpga device > RIO Device Setup. I wanted to check the devices again, but crashed for Labview.

I could also have seen 'Connector [number]' (automatically added by Labview) and the removal of material number (9205 or 9264) in the project and check if it really was what I had.

Hope that my mistake will help someone in the future...

  • 9401 counter questions

I'm trying to measure rpm of the motor shaft with a proximity sensor and a cDAQ-9174 with NI 9401 module in slot 4.  The exit of the proximity sensor passes from 0V to approximately 4.25V.  The frequency of measurement should be close to 1 Hz to 500 Hz, I hung the signal to pin 16 and the COM to pin 1.  When I select ctr0, the measured value changes radically, as shown in the chart attachd counter image.  I checked my signal clinging to a NI 9205 module and using an oscilloscope VI, as shown in the picture as an attachment.  It shows exactly what I was waiting for the frequency and amplitude.  What could be the problem when you try to use the meter?  I have also tried in MAX and get the same strange results.

    Thank you

Have you tried to use one of the examples? Specifically, could you try material input and output-> DAQmx-> entrance of counter-> meter - reading and frequency (On Demand) .vi pulse width.

  • Triggering the extent of current on NI 9208

I have a measure OR cDAQ 9188 CompactDAQ chassis, containing a NI 9205 ADC and a NI 9208 current ADC voltage. Both work correctly in continuous mode, but I have a problem with the outbreak of finite measures.

I can set up a trigger on the voltage measuring module 9205 just fine - I just use DAQmx Start Trigger (Analog Edge) node and make sure that the channel on which I am releasing is the first in the list of channels for this task. (I'm programmatically to the tasks of building rather than their creation to the MAX). It works very well. However, when I try to do exactly the same thing with the current measurement module 9208, I get the following error:

    Error-200265 occurred at ADC monitor.lvclass:Read data.vi

    Possible reasons:

Attempted to use an invalid trigger analog source.

Ensure that the source of command, you specify is the name of the virtual channel in the task or is the name of a non readable terminal that the device can use as a source of analog control.

    Property: Start.AnlgEdge.Src
    Corresponding value: current

    Possible choices: no

    Feature: CMO - DAQ

    Task name: _unnamedTask<9C>

"Current" is the name of the virtual channel that I used to build the task. It is the only channel to the task.

When I got this error on the power module, it says "invalid choice: Voltage1", which is how I discovered that the trigger must be the first channel. For the current, however, it does not give me any valid choices.

Means I can't have an analog trigger on the NI 9208 current help? I can access the same trigger as the NI 9205 uses (being the signal for tension on the NI 9205 module)? I tried to put some choice of terminals such as/Dev1/StartTrigger in as the source of order, but I get the same message.

I can probably build the channels of current and voltage in the same spot and use the channel of tension as the trigger, but then I have to use the same features of calendar for both channels, and I want to read the voltage at a rate higher than the NI 9208 can handle.

It looks that I just can't do a current channel then the source of the command. Is this the case?

Trigger channels are triggers of tension and cannot be the current trigger.

  • calculation of waveform

    Hi all

I use NI 9401 as a digital output to control a switch in a simple circuit and using the NI 9205 module for measuring the voltage across a diode in the circuit. The control signal of the swith is a square wave. So what I do is to get two values of the voltage the diode: topic 10us before the falling edge of the waveform and 200us after the falling edge. Then I need to use both voltages to do a little math, let's say, add the two values and trace amount vs time. I am a starter of LabView and have no idea how to do that. Can someone help me?

    Hi wademao,

You'll need to do is set up a trigger of reference (descending the wave front) and then read pre and posttrigger samples, something similar to the following illustration:

Then according to the sampling frequency that you use to acquire your analog signal (i.e. voltage at the terminals of the diode) you can exteact predeclenche 10us samples and 200us sample taste samples posttriggered

Can you give us some more details on your hardware configuration? The NI 9205 and NI 9401 in the same cDAQ chassis? What is the model number of your cDAQ? You can generate your relaxation with your NI 9401 (for example on DIO0 - pin 14) and then feed this entry PFI0 sigal (pine 28 or 36 depending on your module) of your NI 9205 module. Once finished with wiring to the top of your material, you can use the examples in the following article to set up your triggered post/pre acquisition:
