Unfortunately, the free upgrade to Windows 7 program concluded in January 2010.  If you want to upgrade to Windows 7, visit the Microsoft Store and buying a Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade for each computer you want to update.

Before installation, remember to download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and follow the recommendations of the report.

  • After upgrading to Vista my Toshiba MCE Remote Control doesn't help

    Hi all.

    As I wrote in the subject line really. Buy Toshiba laptop with the option of upgrading to Vista by releasing. Setting up my new laptop and waiting for Vista to arrive, I ordered the direct remote control (with USB wireless "dongle") of this Web site.

    He arrived soon and I was up and going, watching video content HD via DVI - HDMI cable I bought also from the comfort of my armchair.

    Then came my copy of Vista. I was so happy! Then I discovered that drivers do not seem to work and there is no update on the Toshiba site.

    Now I have to lift me up out of my comfy chair to put on the next video. I'm a toned guy - it's not as if I need the exercise!

    Thanks for reading what I realize now is somewhat a position of "epic", and I hope someone can help me out or point me in the right direction at least.

    Thank you!

  • I've upgraded to Vista XP, the system crashed and now it says to install the disc so that it can be fixed. He doesn't like XP or Vista disc. How to get a copy of the Vista disk (and not an upgrade) my computer can run.

    my vista system crashed and now it asks me for my vista drive.  He doesn't like my drive to upgrade to vista, says that my XP system drive does not work either.  where I kenza a copy of vista disc that works?

    To reinstall Vista:

    You can not legally do a clean install of Vista with a Vista Upgrade disk/license.

    Reinstall XP > then go to Vista.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Here's a startup repair disk, you can do:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
  • Promised an upgrade of Vista 64 that's never happened! Can anyone help?
    Hello & let me start by saying that I have too much frustration at the level I'm so very ashamed to admit it in what concerns my relationship with this operation: WINDOWS VISTA 64 for the promised upgrade of WINDOWS 8!  Just a little history... In July 2009 I went to a major retailer & spent nearly $5,000 on every possible piece equiptment I felt it necessary to have my house to day (what a joke huh?) with computers, desktop, laptop, printer, you name it & my husband and I bought it. And in case you haven't guessed now, we were not 100% knowledgeable in the field of technology... LOL anyway, happy with what I choose me because I did tons of research, was the only thing that I was not so happy with the supplied software installed on both computers! Vista 64-bit home edition Premium, but with great insurance so the representative sales & management that Microsoft could be upgraded US 30-45 days later with windows 8 free of charge, I felt that I was making all the right decisions. 15 days later, I found myself in the hospital after a car accident that brought all the worst of my symptoms remission M.S., all packed up & not a piece of my shiny new purchases have been hit again for over a year! So of course when I asked questions about the upgrade I was looked at as if I were on the planet FoolFace! No Big Box stores could not help... Microsoft never even took the time to answer e-mail after e-mail, calls & letters went out with only one... so I'm sitting here end of December 2013 I was wondering if anyone else out there has just been through the same thing or has any suggestions for this stupid old women who took the word of the seller & believes that the upgrade would be on the way in a month or two... .and five years later everything I said is buy the package & some have to take care of it for me! .... Well, now on disability, monthly income reduced to one third & limited mobility, payment for such luxury as software isn't in the budget, when I wonder how to pay the energy bill, that I can not justify probably not new software, especially when I've been veiled into believing that I was to receive first. Signed, still not abandon what I paid for... Don't want anything for free, never have never will, it of a family motto... but do not want to be deceived or the other... Thank you if you take the time to listen to... * address email is removed from the privacy *.
    Thank you for your response, Nancy.
    And Yes, we all make typos.
  • UPGRADE FROM VISTA TO WHAT OPERATING SYSTEM?
    I probably used my laptop WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM (Acer 7720) not more than 300 hours. Currently, everything works perfectly (as a Vista); However, I was wondering whether to turn it into LINUX/UBUNTU...? Or just leave it as what (a Vista) and it would still work on YOUTUBE for a few more years at least... (?). Or, should I go ahead and put Windows 10 via the tracks level (and at a cost of about $200-250, according to the technician from the local store). I bought the laptop for around $800 six or seven years ago. Oh, by the way, I like to keep the various ports of the laptop (telephone, S-Video, Ethernet, etc.), mostly because they are not as common on laptops... these days. The ports would not be disrupted during the upgrade...? Thank you in advance for any advice or suggestions.
  • Why don't you upgrade from Vista home basic or premium 7 Professional, but you can at Ultimate Ultimate has the same features but also some?
    I wonder why the limitation of the upgrade to Windows 7, but the ability to upgrade to Ultimate from Vista Home.  Is it simply to get people to pay more for the programs as Ultimate contains the same features as the professional, or am I misunderstood features of the upgrade to Ultimate?
    Because Windows 7 Professional and Windows Vista Home Basic do not share the same basic architecture with respect to features.
    Windows Vista Home Basic doesn't have many main basic Windows 7 Home Edition network such as Domain Join, backup features, other features such as group policy and network encryption.
    If you want to upgrade to Windows 7 while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications, you will need to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.
