Abandoned Dm1 now won't start up

My son fell from his laptop. It froze and it turned it off until I could get a look. It starts but hangs on the windows start page. I took the battery and tried to reset several times without success. Is there something else I could try or should I take and see what the damage is, or is - this just trash. It is only two months old, I do not just throw him out. TIA.

During the priming first machine, press F10 to the HP splash screen to enter the BIOS menu.  From there, go to the diagnostics tab and select "HARD drive Self Test" that will test the HDD for errors, if you get an error, then the hard drive is shot.  You should be able to have it replaced under warranty (don't mention your child a fall).  Warranty you can check here:

It seems that the update of the bios that went bad and had to be reflashed. Bios recovery is a delicate procedure and you should contact the service center:

  • ADED 2nd HD in 810 Elite HPE but now won't start

    Just bought a 135qe-810 w/Win7.

I'm moving my HD 300 GB Maxtor SATA existing my HP hpe-150ff to my new 810-135qe.  This isn't a bootable hard drive.  Data only.  Hung but now computer won't start; system goes into recovery mode.  Ouch.  I can see the drive in the BIOS and everything seems good.  Shut down and unplugged the HD Maxtor, reboot and the computer starts very well.  Brought back the HD in the older hpe 150ff and 150 boots and HD works very well.  Why can I not use this HD with the new computer.  If I buy a new HD, will it work?  Can I use more than one HD on this computer?

    Hey DocCoder...

I agree, adding a second disc, especially in this PC with 2 open housing should be child's play.

No matter how lucky you have another HARD disk, you can try? I have a similar PC (configure to order) same motherboard and one bunch of others in my lab here and they all work without a hitch.

As a test, I tried the disks SATA version 2.0 and 3.0, with a number of different manufacturers go all the way in 2007. Each of them appeared very well (some even had an OS bootable on them and has not caused any problems since SATA looks like for the first bootable hard disk from SATA 0).

There is no settings on your PC to change, it should just plug and play so to speak... So before you return the PC, find out if it could be the drive you want to put in it.

    Good luck.

  • HP Pavilion Elite m9280a PC, blue screen now won't start!

    Hello

My pc does not now start upward. It worked fine until the other day when I got a blue screen STOP error. Before that I could write the code that the computer tried to restart. It won't have the option to go in safe mode now, the hard drive light flashes on the front just once when you turn then just sits there, white light, solid screen. I am running Vista.

Any help would be awsome as I am Flexi-rent this pc and do not want to pay for a computer I can't use even turned off!

    Thank you

    Pat

P.S. I had a Vista disk when I got the PC.

    Pat1982,

You should always have a recovery hard disk partition.

When you turn on the computer, press F11 repeatedly until the system recovery begins. For more information, read this:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00814731

If/when you get all of this done, you must create a set of recovery disks and then perform the steps described in this article, to avoid possible future problems:

When I double click on the Firefox icon I see the moment where the cursor and then it disappears and nothing loads.

My OS is Windows Vista Premium and I use Windows internet explore for the time.

  • VM has lost a VMDK and now won't start, can't seem to remove this resource

I have a virtual machine that had a vmdk added to this, the one who resides on a vmfs (data store) stranger. This data store gone bang and I will never see this vmdk again. Problem is that the virtual machine starts is no longer because it is unable to access this resource. Try to remove the disc through the 'change settings' menu fails to vSphere with the error 'invalid configuration for the device "0" '

Is there a way ahead to get rid of this resouce as the virtual machine is no longer usable.

Edit the .vmx file in the text editor and remove the links to bad vmdk.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 won't start at all - LED flash

My SP2100 began to have feeding problems and now won't start at all. The AC adapter green LED is lit, that are relevant lights on the body of the laptop (although the "battery charge" light always orange these days). When I try the switch on, startup begins (in fact succeeded on occasion until this morning), however the battery indicator and the adapter lights are flashing, and everything stops again.

On the rare occasions when I'll be past this stage, lights blinking, and the system soon shuts down again with a screen message "low battery." Until this morning, he would sometimes settle, the computer remained on, and the lights showed a State of equilibrium as usual.

Initially I thought that the problem was of course the battery or the AC adapter, but now I'm starting to think that it is with internal PSU of the laptop (although I suspect the battery is probably tour after all this part of loading and unloading).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I think you're right. Flashing LEDS are a sign that hardware is defective.
I can't say what exactly is the problem, this should be verified by a technicain.
On the other side I don't know if it's worth to repair such an old machine.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L30 PSL33E won't start at all - the LED blinks 6 times

    Hello

My poor mother is quite upset! Its Satellite L30 PSL33E just died.

It completely off and now won't start at all.
Orange light flashes six times when you press the power button.
No hard drive, fan, screen or any other noise / activity.

    She tried without the battery.

A kind of hardware failure, I guess.

Any ideas what this blink code means?

    Thanks in advance,
    D.

I put t know what the code means, but you can read it. short means 0 and 1 long

In any case, the error code means that a hardware failure has been detected on the motherboard and motherboard replacement could help you?
    Why?

because what is really hard to fix a motherboard for laptop very s.
It especially not possible if you n t s have sufficient knowledge, experience, and special tools.

I think that either you contact the ASP in your country and ask a difficulty or you'll have to buy a new laptop ;(

  • Satellite U400-14 b turns off and now it won't start

    Hello

just got a new Satellite U400 this week.
Worked perfectly the first days, and then last night, it just turns off and now it won't start.

I press the button and the row of lights beside him light up, but nothing happens that I n t even get as much as the Toshiba screen.
I tried a lot of things. I left it plugged in all night, tried to take the battery and any results now.

Little led lights on the bottom indicates that it is his stuffy, battery is white not orange when you press they light up only for a fraction of a second.

The only thing I can compare it is too when a car won t start and you keep turning and turning the key, well in that case, pushing a button, and nothing happens, fans don t whir or anything...

    help please...

Additional memory (RAM) has been installed? Try to remove a memory Module and try another memory location.

If bad memory is not the problem, then there is not much else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repairs.

  • I made a disk defrag on the guest computer and now VM won't start

Hi, I stupidly done a disk defrag on the guest computer and now VM won't start. I have attached the log files you. Please help me.

Post edited by: a.p. - the moderator Note: branched out in a new discussion

This can make things more difficult depending on the current state of the virtual machine.

What you should do at this point - unless already done--is to backup/copy of files of all VM to ensure that you have a way to go back if things don't work as expected. The next step is to find out if it is possible to free up space on the D: drive, so that the virtual machine does not have to be moved (move the files could be unnecessary snapshots). If there is enough free space on the disk, use the file attached configuration (.vmx) to replace the damaged one. Ensure that VMware Workstation or at least tab of the virtual machine is closed when you do this to ensure that the replaced .vmx file is reread. If things work with the replaced files, consider deleting snapshots that you no longer need. This will not release disk space only, but can also improve the performance of the virtual machine.

  • Qosmio G20 - won't start, error ATA #1

I have a G20-102. Today I opened my flash drive and files all showed them as shortcuts. I tried to connect to Firefox 4 and a warning from AVG threat came pointing to C:\windows\system32\mssrv32.exe (Tr/Crypt.xpack.Gen3) as a Protection of identity. I opted for the "Move to vault" option and asked to restart

Now my pc won't start - I get the Qosmio screen, ATA error #1 (CD player has been removed) and then the screen "rolls" - looks like random pixels flashing on the screen. I'm trying to start safe mode, but F5, F8 or any Fkey is not doing

To make things worse, the CD rom has been removed, faulty, so I can't boot from another device. I don't have a USb in the BIOS, only FDD option which I did not

    Help, please

    Hey,.

To me, it looks like a serious hardware malfunction

You could try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Enter in the BIOS, and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS and try to start again.

The HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? If so I try a recovery disk Toshiba recovery installation and check if the problem is hardware or software partners.

  • Satellite P300-156 won't start or by MAIL

    Hello

I have a Satellite P300-156 I bought a few months as damaged. The screen has been damaged and the case slightly cracked. I replaced the screen and hard drive and main card seems to have no physical damage. I've been running this system for 3 months now without any problem but, today, for some reason, it won't start or even POST. It powers on and the CPU fan starts to turn then stops and does nothing. No display (I tried external). CD player works. No beeps.

I tried reinstalling RAM even open completely and reinstalling all connections, nothing done. Does anyone have an idea what component is gone? (CPU/GPU/RAM)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Did you update the BIOS or something?
For me, this is a normal behavior when the BIOS chip is faulty.

  • New Satellite P300 won't start.

I hope you can give me some advice. This week, I bought a new Toshiba P300 GU with Vista Home Premium. It worked fine for about 3 days, but now it won't start at all.

    Symptoms:

    * - Some LED lights blink for a second, then they stop again.
    * - No fan or drive noise.
I tried to remove the battery and power cables and left the computer for a day before trying again. There is no difference except for a few plus-lumieres LED flashes for a second, the first time I try to start the computer. The next time I try, only a few lights flash again.

After I discovered the startup problem I noticed that food is quite noisy. I also noticed that the machine has a small mark RENS in the plastic in the upper left above the screen. (Looks like a defect of manufacturing error or transport) You hardly notice the 1 cm small inconsistency in the plastic, but it doesn't look like a normal scratch.

As I thought that food could be the cause of the problems because of the strange sounds, I brought the maschine to a PC technician today. He tested the food and said it was working normally, but he also said that this should not seem like that. He did not open the laptop, to not cause trouble about the Toshiba warranty.

I bought the computer to the Denmark I wanted a Danish keyboard. However, I live in Portugal, where I use the computer. Where is the PC now.

Do you recommend that I contact an ASP to the Portugal to fix the PC or do you propose I have return the PC to the merchant at the Denmark?

The ASP will be able to exchange the screen and power supply that are not in the State, they must be good obviously both?

    Thanks for the tips!

    Hello

First of all I must say I never had problems after 3 days of my new Toshiba laptop but these things happen and no manufacturing activity is perfect.

In addition, I agree with you. I would bring the laptop to an ASP because it seems that this motherboard is defective but I do not know Mr. it's only my personal opinion, and therefore the laptop should be checked by a technician for laptop.

As far as I know that the laptop is covered by 1 year international warranty and so I would contact the ASP in your country. Ask them if they can fix your computer laptop and if not, you must communicate with other ASP where you bought the laptop.
I think this is the best solution because they can tell you what to do exactly.

Good luck and I m sure that your laptop will be repaired as soon as possible.

    Welcome them
