Access removable disk error... "Z:\ is not accessible. Access denied»

1. my (2) flash drives have been available last week

2. this week, they are inaccessible (on a single computer only)

On the second computer, I can access the drives normally.

Clearly, I changed something on the computer problem, but I don't remember what it is.  Probably a registry setting.

I can't open the drive.  I get the error 'Z:\ is not accessible.  Access denied'

Although he is running as an administrator ,attempts to format the drive are unsuccessful.  This error is: "You have not sufficient rights to perform this operation"

Attempts to access the drive through the command line are unsuccessful on the problem computer.

The drive can be seen in disk management, but may not be formatted or partitioned here (computer problem only)

On the first computer, everything is normal.  ERGO, the problem is with the second computer.

Can anyone suggest where I should look in the registry (or elsewhere for that matter).

Thank you for your help.

Yaacov

I don't have an answer after all!

I just find ControlGuard Endpoint protection had been installed over the weekend.

    Hi Rishanpc,

Thanks for the post. I am sorry to hear that you found a mistake "D: / is not accessible." a device i/o error"when trying to access hard drive.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this.

To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

    1. have you checked if the cables are connected properly?

2 what is an internal hard drive or external?

3 have there been recent changes made on the computer before the show?

The most common cause of a non-accessible i/o error is a disconnected cable. When the computer tries to access a device, and it's no response after several tests, it will generate this error. Another common cause is when a program tries to access a file that has been removed or eliminated.

    Disconnected Hard Drive/cable misconfiguration

Internal hard drives require a specific set up. IDE hard disks can have only one master. If another hard drive has its defining together correctly pin code, a user is perhaps not able to access the data, and he will receive a message that the drive are not available. Cables come off inside the case of the computer also cause a not accessible i/o error. The user can correct this problem by opening the case and attach the data cables for each drive safely at the back of each drive and the motherboard.

However, I get to the Windows Boot Manager screen that says error 0xc000000e - device is not accessible

I scanned the partition HP_TOOLS for errors, including an analysis of the sector, but it does detect any errors.

FYI - I have repair disks that I created.  Is it possible to repair or recover only the partition HP_TOOLS?

Just to be clear, the problem is with my Recovery partion only.  Win 7 in main boot works fine.

Suggestions to fix or repair, please?

Don't know what else to suggest other than using recovery discs to reinstall. If you have recovery disks, the recovery partition is not really necessary, more a convenience than using disks, that's all.

  • Canvio Basics 500 GB - F:\ error message is not accessible

"F:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"

What does that mean? Is he dead yet?

I guess as the F: / / means the connected external HDD.

You are able to access all data stored on the HARD drive?
You are able to create a folder on the HARD drive?

    Please check this!

Please also start the console command (CMD) line and type this:
    f:
    Press enter
    dir
    Press enter

Now you should get a list of the data stored on the HARD drive.

When you try to read a disk in the 'A' drive from Windows Explorer, I get a Popup with a white 'X' in a red circle and a message that "A:\ is not Accessible" "Incorrect function" and an OK button at the bottom.  It happens to any disk, formatted or not, with the files or empty.  I replaced the disk drive - no help.

I don't know if it's a windows setting went crazy or a motherboard problem.  My BIOS seems correct.  If I do a 'fill' of window hardware in administrative tools he tells me that I have data on the disk.

    I have XP - SP3.

    Any ideas-

go to a command prompt and type "sfc/scannow" (without the quotes) and let it run... see if this is helpful at all.

Hope do you feel better soon.

  • Error: "\\(PC Name) is not accessible." You might not have permission to use this network resource... The specified network provider is not valid.

Hi, this is a follow-up to the issue and my second attempt to find the solution. In addition, it is still connected to my first and second positions.

My laptop that works with Windows 7 32-bit has 2 two natural questions:

    1. I can't access PC's on the network on the laptop itself and thus get an error:
"\\(PC Name) is not accessible." You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server know if you have access permission. The specified network provider is not valid.

    2. When you make the file sharing Wizard, I get an error "your folder cannot be shared" and the only option is to click on 'Done '.

I'm trying to share folders to another laptop that works with 64-bit Windows 8 but I think there must be a problem with the Windows 7 laptop. I can share and access all the folders of any laptop before.

Thank you! Any useful response will be greatly appreciated.
