Acer 1640Z crashed XP to restore aid.

Laptop spare as above Windows XP. Three days ago, I configured the Acer e parameters and inadvertently pressed a wrong button.  He began to wipe everything. I turned off after 6-7 seconds, and restarting the laptop wouldn't start. 1 message: NTLDR is missing;  then 2nd message: missing or damaged \system32\hal.dll and reinstall this file.

I downloaded Lazesoft Recovery Suite (recommended by a British computer magazine) in the hope of recovering lost files, etc.

Also I was informed that I can restore the Acer laptop to the factory setting by pressing Alt + F10.  I have not tried yet.  Should I use Lazesoft Recovery first, hoping to recover the missing files and then load them onto a CD/DVD or USB? THEN restore to factory settings and I hope that to load the content of the CD/DVD, etc on the laptop back?

With the resumption of Lazesoft on a DVD, I am able to start, but for now, I'm always studying its menus before attempting to recover files.

I am a relative novice with laptops - self-taught on a Windows Vista for 5 years and my age? -70 +.

laurent_14, thank you very much for your help.  Yesterday, I still could not get out the 'loop' and don't have factory restored 7 times.  Then finally I booted from a DVD on which I did a backup using Macrium Reflect.  I did this backup sometime last year.  From the Macrium backup I got things working again, and everything seems fine.

I tried the Macrium drive last week, but had no success with it, so maybe it was my inexperience.

In any case, thank you very much, once again and I will certainly to the community spirit of Acer for any future problem.

Kind regards

Fred.

  • Acer Aspire crashing when games.

I have a two years Acer Aspire 4755 G with win 7 32 bits as a BONE.  Recently, when I played games I've played without problem before the crash of the games after 1 to 5 min. of use.  I updated the nvidia driver 305.46 drivers, but the problem persists.  Heat doesn't seem to be a problem when it crashes.  I used a temerature gauge and it works at normal tempuratures throughout the game.  So my question is anyone has the Acer Aspire 4755 G and that set up make you use of game.  Which nvidia drivers are you using?

    Thank you

Pizal, it has more than one possible explanation.

The most likely cause is overheating, but you have checked that. Still, I would like to download the free program of CoreTemp to check that your fan is all right.

It is possible that you have another software program which is which collide with your games. Download the free Win Patrol program to see what is running in the background.

It is possible that an update of Windows trying to get, and it's too much for your machine to manage. Try to check the updates of Windows in the control panel and see if anything got stuck. If Yes, try to install manually with all your games off the power.

And my standard advice: run a scan in depth with your antivirus program.

  • H8-1040 video driver crashing, then system restore to properly initialize

I've had some problems with my graphics card driver to crash. After moving, I took the card and clean the dust. The question is somewhat degraded. (As you can imagine, the issue did appear in Mode safe). Nevertheless, I decided to do a system restore. At the end of the recovery of the system, the computer never went to the configuration of the operating system screen. In fact, it just shows a blank screen now when it starts. There is no error beeps and the diagnostic system withdraws. I'm not entirely sure what to do. I tried to start in safe mode, but the computer says it cannot complete the installation in safe mode.

    If my card is dead?

(The question seems to be similar to what is experienced here: http://forums.evga.com/GTX-550-ti-issue-black-screen-after-loading-windows-m1303862.aspx)

If this card would be replaced, anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello

There are several products listed under search for h8-1040 but if your PC is QN562AA product number, then we can proceed on this basis, or you can post your product number.

The 7xx NVIDIA graphics cards will not work on your PC like your PC is the older BIOS version 7.  You must have a BIOS version 8 which is not available for your PC.

NVIDIA 550 in your PC is a good graphics card and to get the same or better you would need to get the 660 of NVIDIA that is designed to work with a 450 Watt power supply.

  • Management e-recovery of Acer 1640Z laptop (Windows XP) is NOT AVAILABLE!

After crashing this laptop XP 2 weeks ago and successfully restaurant then to work through factory setting, etc., and advice in this forum, I find that I can't access Acer e-Recovery Management.

Is there a way I can re - install the recovery management?

Clyde, success at the end. After the display of the foregoing, I turned off the laptop and then restarted, by pressing F2.  The D2D recovery item has been disabled, so I changed that "enable".  Looking in Acer Empowering Technology and clicking on the e-recovery management, I now have access to one.

Given that I was exploring e-recovery management a few weeks back and clicked on a wrong measurement, it caused the laptop down.  I will be careful to use e-recovery until I fully understood what it says in the manual.  I use Macrium Reflect for backup, normally, it will contine with that for now.

Thank you for your interest and your help.

  • computer crashed will not restore c drive is damaged

my computer crashed and won't work for all programs in normal mode. In safe mode, I can get the internet, do not react in windows programs and is unable to find a just solution freezes. I tried to remove programs and the system restore, but it keeps telling me that the c drive is corrupt. I'm not computer savy but need my computer to work all programs. I don't know if that helps, but the usb ports do not register the printer mp4 player or my camera. It's terrible, all help to restore my computer would be appreciated... Even windows media player and windows media center are declining.

Go to start / programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type chkdsk /f /r and enter.  This will check and try to correct errors on your hard drive (as applicable).  It may need to remove bad sectors (which could cause more problems that files located in these areas may be lost - but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it - fix your hard drive is the first priority).  If it finds a large number of bad sectors, your hard drive may be faulty and will need to be replaced.

Let us know the results of the scan, chkdsk/f/r, and we will go from there.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

P.S. If you can't run Chkdsk from safe mode, try to start the installation disc Windows Vista genuine or your recovery disc (if you have one) and run it from the command prompt here. Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • After "critical update" 12/23/11, my computer is very slow and crashes, also will restore the system.

After the "critical" update that is installed on my computer 12/23/11 my computer started running very slowly, he drove my Norton anti virus, blocking, I am unable to restore the system. any ideas?

    Hello

1 update you installed recently? (Please mention the number of KB)

    2. which version of the Windows operating system is installed on your computer?

    3. what exactly happens when you try to perform the system restore?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run the fixit from Microsoft Fixit article and if that helps.

Fix Windows system on slow Windows performance issues:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/slow_windows_performance/

    Method 2:

Start in safe mode and check if the same problem persists. If the problem not persists in safe mode, then turn on the computer in a clean boot state and check if that helps.

    Step 1:

How to start in SafeMode in Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if that helps.

How to solve the problem by running the clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Once you have completed troubleshooting, perform the steps in the step 7: to reset the computer as usual.

    Method 3:

Check the installation update and try to remove the updates that you installed recently and then try to remove it and check if it helps.

    Remove an update:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/remove-an-update

And also ensure that there are no pending restart, if there are any pending restart, then restart the computer and check if that helps.

    Hope the information is useful.

  • Acer 1640Z laptop. NTI backup NOW 4?

Back again after the repair of the accident on the 1640Z.  Everything still works fine, but on the exploration of the programs I found "NTI backup NOW 4."  I had a look who attempted to enter the program, but was informed that it is not installed correctly.  Research on the web, it seems to be a backup program

Anyone use NTI backup, or know something about it?

I use Macrium Reflect backup on an external drive, so to my way of thinking the NTI is redundant I use Macrium. and as it is not installed correctly, I can't use, so I can safely remove and remove the NTI program?

It seemed that NTI BackupNow 4 has been altered.  There was also a NTI 7 is installed on the XP laptop, and although I could enter NTI 7 and its sub - menus they would not properly work, so he looked as if this program, too, has been altered - possibly from when I fell the laptop.  I removed from the two programs.

  • I restored Firefox to its default settings, but the slowness, crashing and nonresponse are not resolved

    Hello colleagues-Firefox users.

I followed the Commission indicated in the Support article on the slow, crash, etc. by restoring Firefox to its default settings. But the problems go away. The remains of the slow browser and still gives me error messages on a non-compliant script or plugin and crashes. To make matters worse I don't see the menu on the top tool bar items, I was so used to using, such as file, editing, display, etc.. I very often used the display menu to zoom on texts that are too small for me to read. Now I can not do. I tried to drag icons in the menu on the upper right of the page on the top tool bar above the address bar, but it is not the same thing as what I used to use before, and there is no File, Edit, View, tools in the menu icons. So now I see my g-mail Inbox in tiny little characters. I tried to use the Magnifier suggested in the troubleshooting of support page, but it's too heavy so I gave up.

Would someone kindly please help me with these questions? Thank you much in advance.

    Kind regards
    Tom Graciano (globmart)

If the zoom is your problem so just try to use the keyboard.
Hold down the control (Ctrl) key + "+" to zoom in any window.
Otherwise if the crash occurs suddenly so just try to uninstall and reinstall Firefox with the update. You brought a lot of changes manually, it might create problem. So reinstall once and check whether it is at your service.

  • The restore Cd Acer is the CD of "Backup"?

I'm trying to restore my Extensa 4420 to the original. I have not bought the CD got Acer $$ a number of years, but now they have no interest in helping because my laptop is out of warranty.

After using the Sys CD #1 instructions require "backup" - CD. None of the CD set, that I purchased from Acer is therefore lableed. I have two disks in the system, a set of two CD 'Recover' and one 'restore CD. The instructions seem to ask randomly 'next' CD or a "Backup CD".

I tried 4 different combinations start and use of the CDs for the "next" CD diffΘrents  The better with that I get is an error message

"The system registry contains invalid paths. Installation cannot continue. Image of this system has been applied without guaranteeing that drive letter assignments would be between computers.

How can I force the Acer CD to complete the restoration process?

Contacted Acer. They had not interest is help me solve the problem with their defective support other than suggesting I try and find a 2nd started to buy.

I eventually decided to remove all traces of the faulty Acer software from my computer
