ACHI Mode Envy 17

Hello.

I want to buy an SSD for my 17 Envy-j017sg news, running 8.1 Win. I read some tutorials how to set up an SSD. But I can't find the AHCI Mode in the BIOS.

So here's my question - how can I activate this mode?

That is right.

    Hello:

Sorry to hear that you have problems.

When I look at your picture right where I wrote it would be (under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers), I see the:

Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI controller you will highlight in blue.

I don't know why you have a problem. I hope that someone else will have to intervene and help. I am very sure that you have DCIS enabled by default in the BIOS.

  • Cannot change SATA RAID in AHCI mode in the BIOS.

Hi, I use Pavilion p6142p Desktop, WIN7, a harddsik.  The SATA BIOS has been set to RAID by the default value of the factory.

I put two new hard drive in this office, they have different sizes and different rpm speed, I don't want their RAID.  So I tried switch the BIOS SATA AHCI mode, so I can't start the win7, win7 gave me two choices: repair or return, repair is not too.  After I change the BIOS, everything is OK.

But I have to put all three harddisk in this office. So my question is:

I use RAID in this PC?

Do I have to re - install win7?

    ....

In any case, what should I do?  Thank you.

    d1ad1a,

RAID will work with unlike devices.  You can always install your new discs and give it a go.

It seems that the ugly way is going to be your only for the ACHI mode to work. Alternatively, just live with what you have.

  • No partition recovery - no creator of disc to be

    URM this is a strange...

I have a new computer laptop tosh, brought for me via the DSA scheme in the United Kingdom (I am currently a student) and much supply company have removed windows Toshiba installation and gave me their setting including a custom, I don't like - I would go back for a Virgin copy of windows or the copy of windows tosh but I do not have access either at present it would appear.

I downloaded a copy of http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/8906-official-windows-7-sp1-disks/ burn to disc, but I get the error "A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you have a flash drive driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB, please insert it now. "I tried to use all the drivers 'support' company had installed (in a partition/folder and told me), but no work - have also tried to change the ACHI mode IDE in the BIOS and that did not help so changed it back. I looked in support of tosh, but pilots do not appear in the list.

I have also an automatic win 7 32 bit enterprise install on a USB key since the days of work undertaken and studies from (70-680), this does not give me the error and allows me to install windows. (on another partition for now). I don't want to use it because I does not have a business license and have the OEM license with the laptop so would use it.

which leave the people I'm doing?

I suggest you order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx's original Toshiba recovery disc
It costs 30 euro only, and you will get the original recovery image designed for your laptop model.

With other words, in just one or two hours you have perfectly will install OS with all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities. Good thing is you can use this disc so often you want and every time you clean OS pre-installed and activated.

  • Install Win 7 on a new disc

The problem: windows fails when starting a new drive.

    I have T430 with Win 7 pro 64-bit.
The hard drive (hitachi 320 GB 7200 RPM) has the recovery partition. Boot from this drive is very good, and the pc works. The pc CAME preinstalled with the operating system and no DVD has been provided.

Now I want to install the OS for a new SSD 120 GB drive (for the same pc)
With the help of tools Lenovo, I created a USB recovery.
Removed the original drive and installed the new SSD.
Booted from the USB and the recovery application to install Win on the SSD.
At the start of the SSD, I get the error
"Unable to start Windows. A recent hardware... »
    'Not found Winload.exe.

Of course, the hardware has been changed, but I can't use the advice - use of the ERD - if Lenovo does not provide it.

I already searched the forums and has not found a solution.

Is there a formal solution of Lenovo, or I have to take my chances?
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    Thank you

Your computer is set to run in ACHI mode?
I had the same error once when installing 8 GB of ram on a machine that had run 4 GB... the jury filed for it... 64-bit check, check... but the installation was problematic. I ended up installing a bar of 4 GB... He acknowledged have... then by installing the 2nd round... It is required to operate.

SSD is different animals. Much better animals but with their own set of needs. Here is a quick/sheet that will help you to make your own checklist and perhaps to help troubleshooting.

    VERY frustrating.

    Any help?

Hey Dean.  Thanks for the note.  Not sure that I can accurately describe the nightmare of everything but I will try.

BIOS would repeatedly freeze mode back or vertical menu.  I only had 2 minutes to make a change.

The factory setting was also Raid!  With a single disk.  Superb.

He spent two hours on the phone with technical support in the East. First call spent 1/2 hour then had massive language issues. Then bad attitudes and after having finally got a supervisor on the phone, he yelled at me because I added an SSD as if I had the nerve, which makes the system that I wanted it to be.  VERY unprofessional.

Result: Finally got BIOS to work by unplugging everything including power supply, keyboard/mouse USB and network.  Pressed the power button / stop for 10 seconds.  It resets the BIOS.

Still wouldn't see the new SSD as boot however drive.

After shouting by the controller to support, so I finally did what I should have done 2.5 hours earlier.

I made records.  Pulled the battery and under BIOS.  Unplugged the HARD drive, installed the SSD, and factory reinstalled the system on the SSD.  Taken from the HARD drive, formatted, it on my HARD drive and reinstalled duplicator.

End result...?  Works like a monkey violated today.

Just be aware when you reset the BIOS like this, at the start, the fan of the machine runs at high speed for 1 to 2 minutes.  Looks like one of my 2900 quad-processor poweredge servers!  Then he stops, restarts at a more normal speed of fan and all is well.  I mention this so that someone can think that the machine is about to take off like a Lear jet!

Thanks for the help and advice.

If you don't know this topic then tell me who contact. Please tell how to solve this problem.

If you attempt to load a generic copy of XP pro operating system, then you must change the SATA from BIOS to ACHI mode to compatibility.

  • Windows system error - event id 12 of HAL.

    Hello

I use a PC HP Pavilion m8120n Media Center, which has been upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) SP1.

Current BIOS is dated 5.09 Date 08/06/2007 revision.

In the Windows system log, I noticed that whenever the PC goes into sleep mode (standby), it generates a HAL error with event id 12. It says low memory was damaged when going in standby mode.

The Microsoft documentation says that it is a BIOS problem. I checked the site of HP support for a BIOS update, but found none listed. I noticed that HP offers some laptops BIOS updates to fix this.

Is there an update available for the m8120n BIOS solve this problem?

    Kind regards

    Rick

    Hello

The problem has occurred with your previous operating system?

There is not an update of the bios posted for your PC.

    You can read this article.

You can try to clear the CMOS memory.  Given that your PC is of 5 years which is on the life expectancy of the CMOS battery, you might consider replacing it.  It's a $4 item.

The suggestion below is a long shot for a possible workaround if you ae not not using RAID.  If you do want to try the suggestion below, then you will have to live with the question.

The default sata mode setting is RAID.  If change you it to AHCI then the storage option rom cannot require CMOS space. You may need to reinstall the operating system. There is a possible workaround solution to reinstall the operation.  Don't forget to backup your data. Run the MS patch. Then boot in the bios (f10 setup) and change the sata controller to ACHI mode and save the settings.  If the PC does not start, then change the setting back of the bios.

  • Question of 2012 R2 install Poweredge R415

I have my SAS drives in a RAID 5 (PERC S300, Poweredge R415) matrix and also appear online. When I go through the lifecycle to deploy Server R2 2012 he does not see the drive to install the operating system to. I tried to load the driver retrieved through the USB port, but it happens to say that there is no available signed drvier. Can you tell me to fix the driver should I use?

    Rah33,

Unfortunately the S100 and S300 raid controllers do not have support for Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and there is currently no plan to support these controllers with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 in the future. If you use the S300 controllers, you must either get the controller hardware raid (h700), or you would need to follow this procedure to continue.

    • Open the server and remove cables internal SATA connected to the S300 controller and connect it to the embedded SATA controller of the server ports.
    • Power on the server and press F2 to enter the BIOS settings.
    • Enter the--> SATA settings BIOS setup and change it to ATA or ACHI mode depending on what is available. See Figure-1.
    • Save and exit the installation program.
    • Boot from the DVD Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and proceed with the installation
    • You can learn more about this here.

I hope this helps to answer your question, even though this is probably not the answer you wanted to hear.

  • cannot change windows theme of beats theme, rather goes Classic!

Portable mode: Envy 14 1260se beats edition, windows 7-64 bit, graphics card: ATI mobility radeon HD 5650 graphics card

So basically I had to change my hard drive and so I bought a hybrid hard drive, so I had to install windows and all my drivers manually, it took me a lot of time! I posted twice about my problems, just in case, here is the links:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware-e-g-Windows-8/smart-check-issue/m-p/2337361#M89813

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-recovery/error-code-0xe0f00013-during-recovery-new-hard-drive/...

I had a slight problem in my graphics card driver installation, but finally I managed to do it. But now I am facing a problem which I have no idea how to solve. After you download stardocks my colors, I applied the theme beats and it worked and everything worked very well. However once I turned off my laptop and he turned, rather he returned to classic and after that every time I used the "stardock my colors change the theme of beats, he returned to the basic mode. Once I reinstalled the program stardocks and then it worked again but after that I restarted my laptop, same thing happened again. I don't know if the problem is due to my graphics card or battery power option, I don't know!

It took me a long time to install windows and all, and this little problem is really annoying!

    Thank you, Aria!

In fact I think I found the problem. So basically I have two drivers for my graphics card, one intel and the other is ATI. After you install windows, driver intel has been included in the windows updates and so it has been installed and then I installed stardocks. If the problem is that I installed stardocks before I installed the ATI driver and so whenever I tried to change the theme aero for bat theme, he went to the base. Maybe that was the reason why there was not enough memory in the graphics card, I don't know. Once I used the "difficulty it'tool to see if there is any problem with the aero themes and the error I had was that the aero theme is not supported with the type of graphics card I have."

So what I did was really simple. First I made sure that the latest versions of my graphics cards are installed and then I uninstalled and reinstalled stardocks. It worked! Now the theme of beats is applied and everything works fine! So relieved now

    Hello

I have a Ultrabook 4 t-1200 and I downloaded all the drivers available from the site of HP to Win7 x 64.  I've demoted because Win8 keeps wiping my boot partition after a few days give me 3FO error because I can't do ACHI mode.  MY current setup is mSATA Plextor M5M 128 GB as primary and SATA Crucial M4 256 GB as secondary.  However with Win7, I do not run into this problem.

However, I still have no function 'Sleep' (impossible to activate even in the power settings in Control Panel) and my brightness function keys do not work (even with HP Quicktools installed).

    I found the solution.

I installed the HP drivers for the graphics card and works perfectly now.

  • AHCI driver Pavilion g6 - 1202q A1Z50EA

    Hello everyone!

3 days ago, I bought a new laptop HP, model A1Z50EA with Freedos 1202 q on it.

I try also to install Windows 7 on it, but it stucks Windows extension files 0%.

I discovered on the Microsoft forum that I was able to install with a USB driver AHCI, but I can find it anywhere and even if I find I don't know which version to use (if there are a lot of choices).

Can someone tell me where I can find the driver for my laptop, or at least how to select the AHCI in the BIOS?

Currently I have not any operating system installed, I can not install anything else than Linux and I'm not good at this and at the moment I use a live CD Ubuntu.

    Please help me!

I'm really surprised, that you must load the drivers with Windows 7.

I have PC with Intel series 6 chipset and Vista and Windows 7 does very well without having to load additional drivers.

I installed these operating systems in IDE, RAID and ACHI mode.

I suspect that if you do not use an installation of Microsoft DVD and you have downloaded the software and burned the ISO to a DVD file, you have a bad burn.

If this is the case, burn the image to a DVD by using the slowest possible speed to burn will allow your DVD burning program.
