PE T - 320 Openmanage and beams

After installing OMSA on my T-320 of PE from the factory disc, I noticed that the light on the right side of my SATA drives is green.  They were not on before that.  OMSA uninstalling shall provide them their State previously unlit.

I have RAID5 / S110 PERC.

System documentation References ACHI mode is active when the led is off.

Is this a normal behavior?

TIA

Hello tia

It is a normal behavior. The S110 is a function driver RAID controller. Because of certain features of what is not present, until the software is installed and functional within the operating system. The status LED only work if OpenManage is installed. You can reference the page 69 of the user's guide the S110 for more information:

  • Satellite C660 - compatibility between motherboard and hard drive internal

Hi, I have a problem with the compatibility between the internal (1 terabyte) hard drive and installing windows 7 pro.
I broke my old internal hard drive (320 GB) and I bought the new hd (1 tb), but during the installation it says that w7 cannot be installed on this new hard drive.

Can my pc motherboard (serial number: 3B071014k) support the new hard drive (serial number: wd10jpvx)?
and if the answer is 'yes', how can I make it work?

First of all the question has nothing to do with the motherboard and HARD drive compatibility.
If the HARD drive is visible in the BIOS (first page), the HARD drive is supported by the BIOS and HARD disk controller.
In the case where the drive HARD isn't recognized, you will need to replace this HARD drive with another. I guess the smaller size of the 2.5 SATA HDD THAT would be taken in charge (500 GB)

However, in case the HARD disk is visible in the BIOS, you should be able to install Windows 7.
Before starting the installation, you must format the HARD drive and should create the system partition.
For this procedure, I recommend to use some tools such as partitions for example: GParted
GParted is a freeware Linux tool.
You can create a bootable USB key in order to start the device using GParted:
    http://gparted.sourceforge.NET/LiveCD.php

Then, you should be able to format the HARD disk and create partitions.

  • Satellite R630 - difference between 13V and 14 days

    Hello

I think to buy a Satellite R630, but I'm confused on the different versions. I've narrowed down to these two, 13V or 14 days.
13V is less expensive (150-200), a larger HARD drive (500 GB compared to 320 GB) and weighs about 200 g. the battery of the 13V is the worst, it has only 6 cells and ~ 8 hours maximum, while the 14 days has 9 cells and up to 12 hours.
Is this really the only difference, and if this is the case, would it be possible to replace the battery then with cell 9 since the 14 days?

    thx for your help!

    Hey,.

I also checked the specifications of Toshiba's official website and I found the same difference you.

Theoretically, the two parties (HARD drive and battery) can be replaced on both models very easy, so in the end, you must decide which model you prefer.

My personal opinion would be R630-13V because the 8 hour battery life is really enough in my opinion and if you need more energy, buy an extra battery or replace the 6 cells with a 9cell. :)

  • Satellite P300 - upgrade to larger hard drives and 7200 RPM?

I have a Satellite P300, model PSPCCA-01W073 (sold in Australia). Machine has two 320 GB of HARD drive. Yes, it's all up to 640 GB. I upgraded to Windows 7 OS and I have dual boot in to Linux Ubuntu.

My job is editing/processing of multimedia files big and my hard drives are overexploited, so I now I am forced to exchange large files back and fourth with various USB hard drives. If I can replace the existing readers with much larger models, then I will go ahead and do it. .. But at this point, I'm out of my depth!

I asked the support from Toshiba if P300 supports larger disks but they will not engage all the answers outside the original specifications. They suggest that I should try Toshiba users forum for more help.

A kind person could tell me if it is possible to run drives 320 GB and the size. Also, I believe that the existing drives are 5400 RPM. My online store parts and pieces of local computer lists a choice between Hitachi, WD, Seagate and Samsung with sizes:

    (2.5 "/ 5400 RPM") 320 GB, 500 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB as well as sizes: (2.5 "/ 7200 rpm") 500 GB, 640 GB and 750 GB.

So my second question; y at - it no advantage or disadvantage to the superior speed of 7200 RPM.

TIA, your help should prevent to me yet an another expensive blunder.

    Longbow-00

    Hello

Theoretically more big hard drives must be supported and should not be a big problem to use this HARD drive as the SATA controller is not limited to any size.

Also the use of the faster HARD drive 7200 RPM should not affect the performance of the laptop even if this HARD drive faster produce more heat

In my opinion you can upgrade to a larger and faster HARD drive

    Hello

whenever I have 1st start of the machine, the screen looks grainy and with 1 green line vertically down the right side of the LCD screen.

When Vista is finished startup (with my white screen), there are a lot of pink coluring on the icon, when I press "start" and it displays programs, etc., the abckground is all pink! Also the web cam settings/opener popup displays the same.

To get rid off this, I restarted the machine and everything if fine. It is the only way to rectify.

Last week, I tried again to look into the problem...

I changed the LCD, drive hard (updated to 320 GB) and updated the BIOS with the latest version of this site. Now it wil has always do the same thing, but after 30 seconds (or almost) it is automatically sorts.

I really think this sort want someone at - it ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe the BIOS update solved the problem. ;)

  • Debate on AAC and mp3

So I somehow "forgot" to do better than 320 mp3s and ripped my whole collection of 250 CDs on my PC. I know I used iTunes before BLADE, but it was when I got an iMac. (BLADE takes also more space so not very good for laptop...) So when I read recently that AAFC was better (I'm not without loss, I need small files to put music on my iPhone) I almost had a heart attack. However when I looked inside, it seems AAFC seduced only mp3 192 broadband or bottom so I have nothing to fear... I also did a blind test and the mp3s seem to be equivalent to 320 in the AACs to 256, which is also what a lot of people. Also reading at higher rates, it becomes a difference in encoding features and this that they both appear on specific songs, rather than 'quality '.

I know in my heart that I could have pulled off a better way, or used LAME, but how much quality do you think I really lost by not using not no AAC? We are talking about any live CD to 320. I also read that the iTunes mp3 encoder is crap... I really need to know why people say that when others say it is better than some other encoders. iTunes uses which version of the Fraunhofer encoder? I know I should give me peace of mind so I ask maybe in trouble by posting this question, and I have already 'hear' and 'think', I haven't lost much if any, using 320mp3 instead of AAC but I would like to know what others think about it. I hope I will not have to mature my 250 new CD! And what iTunes mp3 encoder uses, it cannot be THAT bad or "antique"? If I can't tell him to AAFC! (I worked in a studio before and I can't hear the difference!) Take a look at the links below that back up what I say.

    Thank you

Most of the people - especially if you use iTunes to listen to music on the computer speakers or using standard headphones with an iDevice - will not be able to tell the difference between mp3/320 and aac/256.  Forget engineering analyses - let your ears decide.  Personally, I use aac/256 during extraction of a CD (more usual rather than anything else), but buy digital media from Amazon (AAFC) rather than the iTunes Store (mp3) - mainly for reasons of portability to non-Apple devices.

Overall, the perceptible difference between mp3/320 and aac/256 is far, far smaller than between these and any coding lossless... and there are many combinations of recorded music and the ears of the people for which even this difference is insignificant.

  • Compatibility between Inspiron 15R N5010 (5010-7015) and black WD ^ 2 (WD1001X06XDTL) double disc 2.5 "

    Hello

I own a Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 (5010-7015) / i5 / 4 GB RAM / 320 HARD drive and I am interested in the internal hard drive of the upgrade of the series dual drive WD (Black ^ 2 - WD1001X06XDTL).

The system supports SATA2 and a variety of capabilities between 160 GB and 640 GB only for 320 GB and 500 GB at 7200 RPM and 5400 RPM / min according to the manual.

Is it possible that I could upgrade to a WD Black2, or I will face compatibility problems?

The specific model (N5010) supports this technology? The list only I could find was this one: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11024/~/wd-black%C2%B2-dual-drive-computer-compatibility-list

If not, are there any other alternatives for a hard drive upgrade [i.e. Seagate 1 TB computer laptop SSHD (STBD1000400)] which would have full compatibility?

As you can see I'm looking for something more closely a SSD, but not an SSD.

The black2 is essentially a 120G SSD for the system - which IS supported by your model.  The hard drive is not even considered by the hardware of the system - it is managed by a pilot who is in charge (that's why the Black2 depends on the OS).  Windows accesses the HDD while software - NOT directly by the system.

Hi, I have reinstall my windows 7. But, when I try to check the updates he comes to see the verification of updates for a long time. I'm trying to update Microsoft Security essentials too, but it just search for updates and it takes a lot of time too. • Update hard drive of 320 GB to 1 TB

I'm running out of space in my HD (320 GB).  I used the windows backup and restore for full backup of my drive and then did a full restore for the bigger drive.  The problem was that the program kept them were leaving the same size as the original drive. Now, I can not change the size of the partition that contains the boot.  and have very much unallocated.  How do the upgrade but to use all the disk space new spread original towing about 142 GB go to the new partiosn 470 GB drive?

I appreciate your help with this.

    Luis

    TrekDozer,

Thanks for the reply.  I downloaded the free pration Manager from the link in your message. and it does work for me, it is not resized the partion C.

That's what I have.  what I have to do is to spread these Go unused 633 C and D. I can revert to the original 320 disc and try again to make an image and then place this image in the new 1 TB drive, but what software allows me to use the entire disk instead of making go them in a new drive of the same size as the original?

    Thank you

In order to increase the size of the C:, you must move the D: drive. Now your C: drive is sandwiched between two partitions, so in may not be increased, but you should be able to increase the D: drive without moving.

Two free programs below allow you to increase the size of the partition and allow you to make a boot disk to start the recovery.

  • PERC 6/E and PERC 6 / i Firmware download - it's actually the same file?

My Dell PowerEdge R710 has two PERC 6 / i and PERC 6/E installed. Both with RAID arrays active. I do an update of the system (BIOS, iDRAC, the life cycle, OpenManage and PERC firmware). I noticed that I have downloaded two files DUP of the firmware for the PERC 6 / i and 6/E and they seem to be identical in all but name.

    Do both?

    • SAS - RAID_Firmware_3H5G8_WN32_6.3.3 - 0002_X00. EXE
    • SAS - RAID_Firmware_F96NR_WN32_6.3.3 - 0002_X00. EXE

It is advisable to run updates for internal/external controllers, because they "may" have differences in the firmware. The payload for updates in THIS version are the same... an update can update them both, but I suspect it will update the device it was intended.

  • Systems build and update utility - really necessary?

    Background

    -----------

I have some new PowerEdge 2950 s I want to configure with WS 2003 R2 SP2. I just went through the process of installing the Dell way. I was surprised to see that the procedure goes just before and installs the operating system on a FAT32 partition that is huge (I did drag the slider all the way to the right.) and then convert it to NTFS. So, I end up with clusters of 512 bytes. Are they laughing at me?

    Questions

    ----------

    1. is there a way for me to get the utility to create a partition NTFS nice, great in the first place install who?

    2. If your answer to #1 is that I can just stick the WS2003 R2 SP2 disk in the drive and create partitions of how I want to that they in this way, so is it really no reason for me to use the Dell utility in the first place?

I've been administration a number of servers Dell OEM installed with WS2000 and WS2003 on them for a while. I installed an OS on one of these servers, a PE2550. I just use the OS install for this disc. And I have no lack of having the Dell OpenManage and other utilities on this system.

Someone, please point me to some impartial (not market-speak), please information on the Dell software. Is it really a big advantage for me to have on these systems?
