Add remote host OME Discovery Range Group
Hello
I built a new deployment mechanism for Windows using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2013 servers. One of the last tasks that I am trying to automate becomes OMSA/OME installed as part of the deployment. I have the OMSA configured as a task to install and it works great. The last piece of the puzzle is to put the new server added to OME.
My question: is there a way to add a new server to a range of discovery remote group so it can be included in the next regular Group Discovery / inventory? It does not appear that the CLI for OME commands reach the remote. I spin OME 1.3 and read, it includes APIs of REST, however, I'm not too familiar with it yet and am not sure if the API would provide a solution.
Anyone have any suggestions to automate this?
Thank you
Ryan
Found this post. Modified to fit my needs and it works perfectly. Hope this helps someone else.

CX3-20: host in several storage groups?
Hi all
What is the trick? I have all the storage groups created on our SAN access to our server VCB (Virtual Consolidated Backup of VMware).
The problem is that our Clarion EMC Cx3-20 allow us only to add a host to a storage group.
If I want to connect the VCB server to a different storage group, I get a prompt saying (in Navisphere):
AMS - back.corp.com: this host is already connected to a different storage group. Connection to the current storage group will be be disconnected from the other storage group. This will cause the host unable to access the LUNS that are in the other storage group.VCB server must see all LUNS, can advise you?
Thank you

I'm done with this...
It started when I had to change my non routable IP addresses management network to my private IP addresses. I kept getting errors with the host, not the new IP address. I solved this problem, but now when I try to add the hosts again in my group, I get an error:
"A general error has occurred: passwd: error immediate criticism-abandonment." blah blah blah stack of error: "unable to set the account VIM on the host, could not set the password. It is possible that your password does not meet the criteria of complexity defined by the system. »
It is ESXi 5.5u3, I tried the following:
Remove the vpxa account, restarted host - same mistake
Restart the services vpxa - same mistake
Restart the vCenter - same mistake
VI etc/pam.d/passwd: N0, N1, N2, N3, N4 - same mistake
VI etc/pam.d/passwd: n0=-1,n1=-1,n2=-1,n3=-1,n4=-1--meme error
Checked the system authentication, do not know what its supposed to look like, but both hosts match
For the life of me, I can't understand it and Google has basically the same steps that I have just listed, I don't want to really blow the configuration and reinstall, but he is looking to get down to that... unless someone here knows where else the complexity of password or criteria for the system is set up...
Fixed the problem myself... Thank you!!
Action taken:
Removed the vpxa account - I don't really think this has no effect on the issue
Retirement services - did nothing until I've known really
After coming home and watching my esxi, pam.d file hosts and comparing the differences, I just on a hunch deleted after /$ISA / pam_passwdqc.so, then re-entered the information as it was on my host at home.
SSH in hosts:
cd\ etc.
PAM.d cd\
passwd VI
My hosts had /$ISA/pam_passwdqc.so retry = 3 min = disabled, disabled, disabled, disabled, 7.7
My hosts at work had /$ISA/pam_passwdqc.so retry = N N0, N1, N2, N3, N4
I edited the line to reflect the password of 14 characters required and the value of the retry N, so it looked like this
/$ISA/pam_passwdqc.so retry = N min = disabled, disabled, disabled, disabled, disabled, 14
: wq
output
Restart the services, actually I rebooted the host, then add in vCenter without problem

Cannot run add a host vCAC to vCO
I tried to run the workflow 'Add a host vCAC' and continues with invalid credentials. I tried the account a local administrator on the system of IaaS, an AD that is in the Administrators group and the based AD account service IaaS components are installed as. None of them have worked.
How can I dig deeper to understand what is malfunctioning and what I need for this power?
Someone at - he was able to do with AD to service account?
Solution:
Setup
- ROOT domain credentials are named vCACp
- Credentials of field CHILD named vCACt
- IaaS server is in the field of CHILD
- ROOT & CHILD have a two-way trust relationship.
ROOT\vCACp & CHILD\vCACt to the administrator group on IaaS.Child.local
Admission tests
Go to https://iaas.child.com/repository/data/MetaModel.svc/ and put in
ROOT\vCACp credential and it works very well. It returns the XML code.
CHILD\vCACt credential and it works very well. It returns the XML code.
If the permissions work on the side of IaaS.
Go to vCO and run the "Add to vCAC host" and put in vCACp ID with the Netbios name of the ROOT. Breaks down...
Try again with vCACt using the netbios name of the CHILD... work properly.
Apparently, there is a limitation/known issue with the use of vCO and cross domain trust. Not sure of the details and am still digging for a Ko or a few other details about this.

Unable to connect to the MKS: the certificate of the remote host has these problems:
Hello
We have a host of ESXi 4 cluster running any vSphere 4.1. Recently, I started to upgrade to update 2 and all the additional fixes. After the upgrade of the vCentre server to the latest version (or maybe before I can't noticed) an of are hosts began to show the following error whenever I tried to connect to the console of any guest on this host.
Unable to connect to the MKS: the certificate of the remote host has these problems:
It lists any problems at all and no error display in the event log that it simply does not work. I had a prod around the internet and found nothing. I then rebuilt the host to exclude and the problem remains.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
David
If you can connect to the Console remotely using VMware Infrastructure (VI) Client connected directly to the host, take a look at vmware KB to connect to a remote virtual machine fails with the error: the certificate of the remote host has these problems
but more generally - remove host to vCenter inventory and then add the host to the back, take a look at opening in the console of the virtual machine after a new installation of ESXi or ESX fails with the error: the host certificate chain is not complete and could not connect to the MKS: the certificate of the remote host has these problems

Cannot add Ubuntu host physical hard drive to Windows 7 comments
When I try to add a physical hard disk to a Windows 7 client on an Ubuntu host, I get the error: "insufficient permission to access file. This occurs if the drive is mounted on Ubuntu or not. In Ubuntu, permissions on records House / < username > / vmware and/dev/sdc have rwx was set by "chmod-r 777 vmware."
Steps to follow:
-Launch the Virtual Machine settings
-Add the hard drive; Use a physical disk
-Device is/dev/sdc (connected by eSata to the host of Ubuntu)
-Use: Use the entire disk
-Name of the disk file: Windows7x64 - 0.vmdk
-"Finish" produces the error message. Steps to follow:The hard drive is connected via eSATA. The error message occurs if the disk is mounted or not in Ubuntu. It also occurs if I try to add a partition, but the folder is/dev/sdc.

Add the user to the users group in the Users.ini file using c#
Hello
Using a c# application, we strive to add/remove a user from the TestStand Users.ini file.
The CreateDeleteUsers.seq file in the samples of TestStand is used as a reference.
We have seen that we are able to add the user to the list of user help file
engine. UsersFile.UserList.SetPropertyObjectByOffset (0, 0 x 1, newUser.AsPropertyObject ());
However, when we try to add the user to the user group, the sample file CreateDeleteUsers.seq said
RunState.Engine.GetUserGroup (Locals.GroupName). Members.SetPropertyObjectByOffset (0, 0 x 1, Locals.User.AsUser.LoginName)
If we try to replicate this in c#, the API seeks the last parameter (which is LoginName in the CreateDeleteUsers.seq file) as an object of property
engine. GetUserGroup (this.) GroupName). Members.SetPropertyObjectByOffset (0, 0 x 1, newUser.AsPropertyObject ());
This causes an exception of object reference when we run the application.
Please advise on how to proceed.
Thank you
Arun-
The members property is an array of string, so the 3rd parameter to SetPropertyObjectByOffset requires a string property object, IE. the user name and not of the user object. From the will of the user object error with '-17308; Specified value is not the expected type. ». The example should really be using SetValStringByOffset to be clearer so that you only specify the user name of the actual string.

Hi dva8377,
Here are two additional methods you can try.
1: Restart the computer by using a clean boot of the method
When you start Microsoft Windows, other software may start with the operating system. These programs may include antivirus software and system programs that may interfere with the game. When you perform a clean restart procedure, you prevent these programs from starting automatically.
Reference:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
Method 2: Bypass the router
If you connect to the Internet using a router, there may be a problem with the configuration settings, which requires that the updated settings. To determine if a network connectivity problem is caused by a bad configuration or a problem affecting the router, try bypassing the router by connecting your computer directly to the modem. Remember that this test will only check that the router is configured correctly. If the game connects to the Internet without problem when you bypass the router, plug the router immediately and contact the manufacturer of the router or your ISP for help configure the router correctly.
Note: Ensure that you switch your computer to normal startup mode after completing the troubleshooting steps. Steps are available in the article above.

Unable to ping the remote host IP address
I have a home network with 2 desktop computers, printer, TV and BlueRay attached. The PC is both XP and members of the same workgroup. I can't get the connectivity between the PC 2. With 1 PC, I ping successfully all connected devices, with the exception of 2 PC. 2 PC, I ping equipment successfully connected, including 1 PC... I get the same information using a different router and a different network on 2 PC card.
I tried the following steps of the Article 314067:
1. check on two PC's TCP/IP configuration. Result: good on both PCs.
2. use the ping tool to test connectivity.
- Ping the loopback address. Result: good on both PC
- Ping to the IP address of the local computer. Result: good on both PC
- Ping the IP address of the default gateway. Result: good on both PCs.
- Ping to the IP address of the remote host. Result: bad on PC 1, good on PC 2
- Ping other IP addresses on the network. Result: good on both PCs.
- Ping the host name of the other PC. Result: bad on PC 1, good on PC 2
Article:
If the ping command fails, the remote host may not be responding, or there may be a problem with the hardware of network between computers. To the rule
on a remote host does not respond, use Ping again to a different remote host.
If you cannot use Ping successfully at any time, verify the following configurations:
- Make sure that the IP address of the local computer is valid and that it is correct on the
Tab general of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties dialog or box when it is used with the Ipconfig tool. Result: good on both PC
Make sure that the default gateway is configured and that the link between the host and the default gateway works. For the purposes of troubleshooting, make sure that this gateway by default is configured. You can configure multiple default gateways, gateways after the first gateway is used only if the IP stack determines that the original gateway is not working. Diagnosis is to determine the State of the first configured gateway. Therefore, you can delete all the other gateways to simplify your task. Result: good on both PCMake sure that Internet Protocol security (IPSec) is not enabled. According to the IPSec policy, Ping packets may be blocked or may require security. For more information about IPSec, go to method 7: Verify Internet Protocol security (IPSec). Result: good on both PCThanks for your suggestions you may have.
Hello
Firewall such as Norton, McAfee etc can cause a loss of network connectivity, even when the network is correctly configured. Try disabling the firewall on both computers to see if the ping works.

Diagnostics network ping to the remote host, but has not received a response
I'm trying to figure out if there is a problem with just my laptop not wanting to connect to a local free WiFi, so any help is appreciated. He worked two days ago only to stop abruptly last night.
Windows Network Diagnostics comes back with the error message "Can not contact www.microsoft.com (65.55.12.249)" and "diagnostic network ping to the remote host, but has not received a response.
The only repair option it evokes is ' reset NIC 'wireless network connection ' '.
I can always connect to WiFi using my iPhone, and even a connected laptop computer work Companion. Yet once, if this can be fixed on my end, any help would be appreciated.
Hello BrenJones,
Thanks for posting back. DNS servers are controlled by your ISP. I communicate with your Internet service provider and confirm that you have the good DNS for your network.

Remove a remote host from monitoring Infrastructure
How can I go about removing a host of infrastructure monitoring? If the host has its own fglam, I was able to disable the agent simple, remove fglam, etc.. In this case, I see no option to turn off monitoring, or withdraw completely from the remote host monitoring.
In the screenshot below. Let's say that I simply wanted to see information of the rd-r220-01. But I always wanted my central collector collect statistics on all remote hosts.
See you soon,.
Seth
If I wanted to stop monitoring of the vmebizjmc of the host, I'll stop the WindowsAgent. In the screenshot you can see other officers running from the host even where a foglight agent Manager is running. I can't stop foglight agent manager.
