Cannot add cluster hosts

I'm done with this...

It started when I had to change my non routable IP addresses management network to my private IP addresses.  I kept getting errors with the host, not the new IP address.  I solved this problem, but now when I try to add the hosts again in my group, I get an error:

"A general error has occurred: passwd: error immediate criticism-abandonment."  blah blah blah stack of error: "unable to set the account VIM on the host, could not set the password. It is possible that your password does not meet the criteria of complexity defined by the system. »

It is ESXi 5.5u3, I tried the following:

Remove the vpxa account, restarted host - same mistake

Restart the services vpxa - same mistake

Restart the vCenter - same mistake

VI etc/pam.d/passwd: N0, N1, N2, N3, N4 - same mistake

VI etc/pam.d/passwd: n0=-1,n1=-1,n2=-1,n3=-1,n4=-1--meme error

Checked the system authentication, do not know what its supposed to look like, but both hosts match

For the life of me, I can't understand it and Google has basically the same steps that I have just listed, I don't want to really blow the configuration and reinstall, but he is looking to get down to that... unless someone here knows where else the complexity of password or criteria for the system is set up...

Fixed the problem myself... Thank you!!

Action taken:

Removed the vpxa account - I don't really think this has no effect on the issue

Retirement services - did nothing until I've known really

After coming home and watching my esxi, pam.d file hosts and comparing the differences, I just on a hunch deleted after /$ISA / pam_passwdqc.so, then re-entered the information as it was on my host at home.

SSH in hosts:

cd\ etc.

PAM.d cd\

passwd VI

My hosts had /$ISA/pam_passwdqc.so retry = 3 min = disabled, disabled, disabled, disabled, 7.7

My hosts at work had /$ISA/pam_passwdqc.so retry = N N0, N1, N2, N3, N4

I edited the line to reflect the password of 14 characters required and the value of the retry N, so it looked like this

/$ISA/pam_passwdqc.so retry = N min = disabled, disabled, disabled, disabled, disabled, 14

: wq

output

Restart the services, actually I rebooted the host, then add in vCenter without problem

  • Add Cluster hosts

    Here's the situation:

3 servers new ESX 4.0 I am wanting to add to a new cluster that I created.  I activated the cluster for HA, DRS and CVS and you want to add these 3 guests to it.

I get the message error "the name 'host_name' already exists.

This may be the cause?  The documentation I read he said it is recommended to create an empty cluster first and then activate the features that you want such as VCA, etc. and then add hosts.

I'm doing it, but I'm not having any success because of this error.

Also, as a note aside... when I go through the add hosts Wizard and it happens to the license section.  I have 2 options... choose evaluation mode or select from a list of existing licenses... the problem is that the list of licenses... in this case 3 for guests I already setup with their appropriate licenses is grayed out.  I can't select the licenses, so I leave the assessment and move.  Is this normal?

I appreciate all help... Thank you!

The host is already managed by the vCenter Server? If so, just drag and drop it into the cluster, or remove it to vCenter inventory and add click with the right button on the cluster by selecting Add a host. You can't have two hosts with the same name, managed by the same server vCenter Server, so when you add the cluster and type in the info, if it already exists outside the cluster, but in the same vCenter inventory, then you will get this error.

  • Cannot add a host, after he was unresponsive, disconnect timeout but eventually is disconnected

This morning one of the hosts is displayed in the form does not and virtual center reported and error with DRS he was not taken in charge on a host in its current state.

I tried to unplug but it froze underway at 37%, for a little over an hour before asking, it has been disconnected. I was then able to remove it, but I can't add it now back in her time out right after pasting in the user name and password. I can not connect via VirtualCenter directly to it either, but I can through PuTTY over ssh.

I tried to restart the following services: vmkauthd, mgmt-vmware and vmware-vpxa. The final a mgmt-vmware stop just after the closure of the vigilance and the process lasts 15 minutes before successfully complete.

Once this is complete I can add the host back in and all virtual machines are still working on it.

No idea why that happened or what to check for a clue? I want to stop this never happen.

    Thank you

Also, check that your service console has enough memory to do its thing.  I had a similar problem a few months back and it turned out that my service console was starved for memory.  The default 292 MB is a bit light, once you install your management of the seller (especially the HP stuff) agents, add to a cluster, select the DRS, etc.

  • Cannot add ESXi host to vCenter Server

    Hello

I created a home set up a VMware datacenter for study purposes. I currently have 2 virtual machines: an ESXi host with vCenter Server Appliance deployed on this subject.

I configured the server vCenter through web interface device and I have connected using vSphere Client.

I created a data center, but when I try to add a host, I get "ERROR: the request exceeded."
Connection with vSphere client directly to the ESXi host works.

I can connect using SSH to the ESXi host.

I have disabled the firewall on the ESXi host.

I have read many articles on the kbase but nothing helped me to solve this problem.

    You have any ideas?

    I finally got to understand.

It seems like my vmware workstation is not connected to the esxi as a physical host in my local network host, and so I was able to ping it unit of vCenter Server (but it worked the other way around, and that's why I thought it was ok).

After the connection to the physical LAN of VMware workstation settings, everything worked fine.

  • Cannot add a host with the host name in VC

    Hi all

    Nice day.

I just finished the installation of 2 servers esx4.0, Vartual Center Server and domain controller server in my home test harness. I added both the host esx server in DNS records. then I tried to add hosts to VC by using the host name, then I get the error message like

"Unable to contact the (xxxxx) host specified. "the host may not be available on the network, a network cofiguraion problem can exhist or that management on this host services may not respond.

I checked that all are ping and found no network configuration problem. I am able to add a host using the IP address, but not with the host name. I checked services in VC, all services run very well. Earlier I never had this problem.

Please help me if someone has the solution.

    Thanks in advance

  • Cannot add the host to the distributed switch

    Hello

Updated some time a go to vSphere.  Environment has 2 hosts and I left it with standard switches.  Today, I thought I'll add a distributed switch and use the extra features etc.  I added the switch d however when I come to add a host it there are none listed?  Can someone tell me how do I migrate from standard to distributed please?

    Kind regards

    Stuart.

First of all. Do you have an Enterprise Plus license? Distributed virtual switches not working Enterpise more licenses or if you are using the Evaluation Version.

Secondly, you have all available vmnic? unless a computer host a vmnic unused, the hosts will display not.

  • Cannot delete Cluster hosts, no. active HA/DRS.

I created a Cluster in a vSPhere lab system and adding that a host forgot to activate vmware EVC. One of my hosts vSPhere 6 added to the cluster, which is fine, but it's not the same processor and necessary VCA allowed the vsphere host migrations. There are only 2 guests, both in the cluster, but I can not migrate between them because CVS is disabled. I can not put the host principal in Maintenance mode, because it hosts the VSA vCenter. It is a semi production, so I could stop the for re - setup, but I can't seem to find a way to stop all virtual machines, including the VSA vCenter and delete the host in the cluster?

    B

You can try the procedure below

    1. create another new cluster to VCA

    2. on the hosts, do a right click-> connection-> disconnect

    3. on the hosts, do a right click-> Remove Inventory

4 Add hosts removed on the new cluster where VCA is activated.

Please note that the ID of the virtual machine may change, but the VM will be operational. Hope this has solved your problem

Can anyone help me, how to get the right setting to access Yahoo hosting server via FireFTP.
I used to get that way before (starting a forum thread) and worked: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38 & t = 2514599

I couldn't access it using FireFTP. Maybe it's because FireFTP does not support the FTPS.
FireFTP is not part of the FTP client offered by Yahoo: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/yahoo-web-hosting/ftp-client-sln20423.html

But now, I can access it using FIleZilla, adding ftpes: / / prefix on ftp. [Mywebsite] .com

  • Unable to add previous hosts to vCenter device

Greetings.  We are migrating our guests to new hardware.  We had three hosts for running ESXi 5.5.0 - 1331820 with the vCenter device on one of them.  Everything worked well.  In the process of moving virtual machines around, vCenter device has been deleted (intentionally).  We recreated the device of the OVA 5.5.0.5201 vCenter and ran through the Installation Wizard as previously.

Now, when you add one of the existing hosts to vCenter, it finds the host and displays information.  When the user clicks on finish, it works quickly up to 80% and the host appears, and then disconnects.  The log shows: add host independent, added host, unable to connect host computer in the data center; connection error host, removed in the data center.

The error showing is: cannot communicate with the specified host (x.x.x.x). The host may not be available on the network, may have a network configuration problem, or that the management on this host services may not respond.

Now the stupid thing is that we can not even add the host on which the vCenter unit is on.  In addition, all hosts and vCenter unit are on the same network of management.  There is no firewall doesn't block all ports.  I read through a lot of the display of the Knowledge Base, and most is in regards to incorrect IP addresses or ports blocked or similar.  I checked through everything and could not find anything wrong.

Last thing is that we amazed the ESXi host that had the vCenter device on it and re-installed 5.5.0 - 1623387 ESXi (version a little more recent than before) and reinstalled the that vCenter device exactly as before.  Now we can add that the host but still cannot add other hosts.  So it appears the issue is something with the hosts and not the device vCenter.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I run in to the same kind of problems with other factors.

FWIW, have you tried the following in this order? 1 stop the vpxa on host, 2 service. Stop the service vmware-vpxd on the vcenter server, 3. Start the vmware-vpxd on the vcenter server, 4 service. Start the serivce vpxa on the host. Then try to add.

Are you a right click on the evc cluster and by selecting Add a host?  If the host already exist in the virtual Center, just drag and drop them on the new cluster.  Ant add you host twice to vcenter.

  • Cannot add host ESXi 5.5 to vCenter for a routed network - cannot communicate with the specified host

I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before, who could give advice how to fix them:

Host of pre-production UCS ESXi migration of a Production vCenter on another network (routing in place)

Can ping both directions successfully - from vCenter Prod to the host of the pre-production

    no firewall between the two.

902 port is open on the host

Host connects to the pre-production vCenter on the subnet even fine

VCenter production can add different hosts on the same network end

Even with the various guests of ESXi UCS.

ESXi host was completely disconnected and removed from vCenter inherited before attempting to add. No dvswitch physical or virtual.

Then try and add, enter the user name and password and get cannot communicate with the specified host.

    Thank you

The solution to this. Used ESX host 5.5 3B (3248547) update that disables SSLv3. (Ref: VMware ESXi 5.5 updated Notes version 3B) one of the consequences of this is that older versions of vCenter (such as trying to move the host) can not add/connect host.

Enable SSLv3 to spend (port 443) on the resolved host (virtuallyPeculiar: connection A ESXi 5.5 U3b host to vCenter with a lower Version A.)

Note: should not enable SSLv3 to Port 902.
