Other LUNS of the same Bay appear correctly on all hosts. 10 guests see the LUN with the same LUN ID and all hosts are identical regarding the version of ESXi (5.0 Update 2), HBA and firmware models.

  The GUI does not list a LUN with an already existing partition because VMware supports only a single VMFS (data store) partition on a LUN. There may be workarounds to create warehouses of multiple data on a single LUN from the command line, but you should instead consider splitting the RAID in several logical volumes, if you want or need more small data warehouses.

I added a 1 TB drive for the system to use in the hope that I can save the files by doing a physical disk entirely available for my windows 7 VM. The 1 TB drive is completely empty. I can see the drive if I wanted to add it as a data store, so I know that the ESXi system sees it. Y at - it an option not to prune a virtual machine and instead do the available raw drive to the VM Win7?  If it is the difference, my goal is to back up the disks off the Win7 on the physical disk for backup purposes, and I would like to be able to access the raw data off the drive failure instead of trying to get into a virtual hard disk file. When I go to add a disk to the virtual machine, it gives me only the possibility of a new or existing virtual disk.
