Advice on eliminating the accidental part, 8500 AIO.

So, there was a paper jam any and my wife went fishing.  She has received the document but also chose a (18 in.) long, thin (1/4 inch) piece of plastic.  There are two holes at each end and torn without doubt when it was accidentally deleted.  I think I see a number on both ends and one end has an arrow.  The number is C-17 CB021 80007 and according to google is the MICR band.  Right now the printer shows carriage jam error.  Will replace this part fix this?  Also and above all, where is he?  Thanks for any help, I do not throw this printer as its been done the greater is only a little over one year old.

Edited to add after registration of the broken side, I found a 'hole' in the print head Assembly and fed the Strip and on the two tabs.  One is a soft metal.  It seemed a little loose and I still get the message, the message of crriage jam.  Is there something that must make contact with inside the print head?

Exactly, special equipment is needed to align the Strip. The trade of the sounds of the options as a good choice for me as well.
