AirPlay Audio to Airport Express

I tried several times to send audio from Airplay (Macbook air to appleTV) to my Airport Express without success.

When content comes from ATV audio express airport works correctly on my wireless configuration.

BUT

When audio is sent from my mac via airplay, it comes only from the ATV itself, even if my settings are available to Airplay speakers.

Any ideas how I could send the audio Airplay to Airport Express?

One of the limitations with Airplay and the quad is he can't support two flow of airtime at the same time.  When you run the audio via airplay of the ATV to the express, which counts as a single stream.  When you then airplay of the Mac on the quad which is considered as the second stream.

It is interesting when you video streams via the shared home of the Mac with the audio of the ATV at the express it works fine.

I want to set up my MacBook Air and an Airport Express so I can use iTunes and AirPlay to connect wireless to the AirPort Express Terminal and connected powered speakers to listen to the music in my iTunes library. Is this possible? I don't want to connect to an existing wireless network to do this. I want that this configuration to work wherever I am regardless of the availability of an existing WiFi network. I want a direct wireless connection between the MacBook Air and the Airport Express. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks for your help in a confusing question.

    Yes, it will work.

You must configure the Express in router mode... the EXTENDED network of the give a static IP address and ignore the problems. You will get several questions... because the network is internet-facing. They can all be ignored... This is how it is.

You can also use a static IP configuration. I use this on a TC, but the same configuration on an Express might work better than router. It can be a delicate touch of the installation. So after some screenshots if you are having problems.

  • Using AirPort Express to stream audio to multiple AirPlay speakers?

I'm looking to create a room without the need of a receiver wireless.  We have several AirPlay speakers allowed in our room, and I'm looking for a way to audio stream of my Apple TV of new generation for stakeholders.  Article I found online alluded to the idea that this can be accomplished by using an AirPort Express station.  I have a burning question, relating to the installation in the article I found:

Several allowed AirPlay speakers are connected to the same network (or dedicated) set up on an AirPort Express in client mode (or the appropriate for AirPlay)

I select this AirPort Express Terminal as a source alternative speaker on Apple TV

What is going on?  Do all connected then AirPlay speakers receive the audio signal?  I sincerely do not find this anywhere online.  Apple's technical support was not able to answer this question.

I have an Airport express.  I forward my iPhone airplay and the express has a plug audio mini that connects to my receiver, which in turn divides and distributes the audio channels to the appropriate speakers.

He cannot receive and transmit audio to multiple airplay speakers.

You can via a Mac however simultaneously transmit audio to multiple airplay speakers.

This isn't something that Apple TV is capable.

Finally do not know what you are trying to accomplish, but transmitting the same audio for all stakeholders would accomplish not something like Dolby 5.1 sound surround.  In the case of different sounds are directed towards the various stakeholders and that separation and management are performed by the receiver.

  • Airport Express - no internet if audio cable is connected

    Hello

I have an Airport Express for several years already and it worked perfectly fine for me until today.

I didn't know that the internet connection has stopped working. After trying different things, I realized that the internet connection works when I connect the audio cable to the the Airport Express - airport service program in the internet sign suddenly gets Orange and green not as soon as I connect the audio cable to use for AirPlay. When I disconnect the audio cable again, it works again.

Any ideas of what this could be?

In this way, that I can't use Airplay longer.

Is the Terminal AirPort Express the only router in the current configuration of your network? What is the brand and model of the Internet with a modem or gateway that you have the Express directly connected by Ethernet?

  • How to document iMac to my apple tv 2, but sending audio to the Airport express connected to my hifi

I have an iMac, a macmini an express airport. I want to send 720 p video to the Apple TV 2 iMac (or macmini) but send audio to the express from the airport which is connected to my stereo. If the apple TV 2 will serve as a video receiver connected to my projector on the ceiling. (I don't have a way to use a hdmi cable). This is the reason why audio must be sent to the hifi differently.  Alternatevely because the macmini is connected by USB cable to my hifi (to my dac), perhaps there is a way to send audio from a movie to the stereo through audio external USB card (it is the dac) while reflecting the macmini for the Apple TV 2...

  • Can I plug two Airport Express units with ethernet cord and have a third Airport Express Terminal receive airplay music wirelesslly? In other words, can I combine a Wi - Fi network and roaming?

I have an undesirable on the 1st floor, connected to the cable modem Ethernet event. I want to connect that AE to an another AE on 2nd floor with ethernet cable AND have a 3rd AE on the 1st floor to receive music through AirPlay wireless. I thought that linking the two first AEs with ethernet would improve the performance of web site on my iMac desktop, which is on the 2nd floor and connects to the 2nd floor AE via wifi. The EI the first two are newer model (MC414LL/A); the 3rd AE is old model (MB321LL/A) and is connected to a stereo Bose with a mini-jack to RCA cable double cord. I tried to set up this network using AirPort Utility, but have had no success. I don't know if it is possible to do what I want to do; and if this is the case, I don't know how to set the various parameters for each AE using AirPort Utility. I've temporarily implemented a purely wireless network; Do not connect DO NOT the two AEs with ethernet and everything works. I would enjoy my plan as above, or if I hold with purely network wireless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using ethernet network roaming between the two floors is a much better idea than anything wireless.

The installation should be automagical if you start with the two AE plugged in by ethernet.

It must be configured in standard roaming with identical names wireless.

If you have any questions... Please, just after the airport utility screenshots of the configuration... but

An express train is probably the router? You must confirm this.

The second express is so configured in bridge... It's on the network tab, disable the bridge mode.

Without thread is set to create a wireless network and simply use the same name and the same password as the other Express.

As it should be automagical when you WAN on the second AE plugged into the LAN on the first AE.

Wireless and then extend to will also be installed enough well automatically even if sometimes it works better in a client that extend wireless mode.

  • AirPlay and AirPort Express

Bottom line on the front: My AirPort Express (N) (former model with a single ethernet port) is not listed as an AirPlay device to my iMac (2011) and MacBook Pro (2011).

    QUESTION:

The EPA is connected to a stereo system in the same room, but away from my iMac.  I'm trying to use the EPAS to play my iTunes from my iMac to the stereo library.  When I click on the AirPlay icon in the menu, I see the ATV listed, but not the MONKEY.  If I use AirPlay on my drives to iOS, I noticed that everything (EPA and ATV).

    BACKGROUND:

The iMac (as well as all my other Macs) are running El Capitan.  I have FiOS and my iMac is wired (ethernet) to my router from verizon, as is the Time Capsule, which transmits the WiFi to all my devices (all of my devices are newer running iOS 9.3.1) and my MacBook Pro.  I have also two AppleTV connected to the network.  My iMac and MacBook Pro (and iOS devices) see the AppleTV and can AirPlay for them, but only the iOS devices see the AirPort Express Terminal.

RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEMS SO FAR:

My utility AP sees the MONKEY (and the TC) and I can handle it without problems (name change, settings, etc.).  My iPhone has no problem to see and using the EPA.  I troubleshoot-made the MONKEY by connecting to my network via ethernet (failed difficulty). reset of the MONKEY (failure of difficulty), turned on my iMac (no resolution) wifi, restarted the network and wifi (impossible difficulty), restarted my iMac and Mbps (failure of difficulty).

What can I do else?  Thanks in advance.

I understand in your current network setup you have the cable to the Capsule Time (TC) to the router provided by Verizon. I assume you have the AirPort Express configured to use a wireless connection to the wireless network provided by the TC.

    • What is the brand and model of the router provided by Verizon?
    • Is - this wireless router and it provides a network of Wi - Fi with the TC?
    • The TC and the Verizon router, both configured for a network of itinerant type?

    Hello world

I think in a very special configuration and I was wondering if it would work or not.

I have a Linksys router with 802.11ac ability now. I wish I had a pregnant airplay on my network, so I thought buy a used Airport express, connect the speakers to it and plug the Airport express via a LAN cable to the linksys router. I also think to turn off wifi on the Airport express so it does not disturb my 802.11ac network.

So the question is: is it possible to have the airport base station to connect to my router Linksys on LAN and airplay works this way on the Linksys WiFi network?

    Thank you

    Zoltan

In theory, it works... but you will have to set up the AirPort Express to create a wireless first, then go back and turn off the wireless feature.

Ensure that the Express is a common pattern of A1392, or the previous version of A1264. Much A1084 most, it's not what you want.

  • 12.3.3.17 iTunes could not connect to devices AirPlay (Airport Express)

After the update to iTunes 12.3.3.17 I can connect is more to Apple Airport Express.

I updated iTunes to 12.3.3.17 on both computers:

    1. Windows 7 64-bit SP1 / iTunes 12.3.3.17 64-bit

    2 Windows 10 64 - bit / iTunes 12.3.3.17 64-bit

On the Windows 10 computer, iTunes can connect and play all three Airport Express.  An iPod Touch can also flow to each of them.

After the upgrade to 12.3.3.17 on the Windows 7 SP1 computer, iTunes can see all three Airport Express and they are not greyed out.  But when an any of them are selected in the dialog of speaker, iTunes tries to connect and after 30 seconds results in the error "an error occurred when connecting to the device AirPlay"xxx". The network connection timed out' and the selection is then grayed out.

The network card on this PC, the router, and all three Airport Express everything seems to work properly as I can deliver on all of them using software third 'wing' with other applications as the source.  I can also control iTunes on the PC wirelessly from iPod with the Remote app.

I just can no longer spread to one of the Express from the airport directly from iTunes after the 12.3.3.17 update.

    Any thoughts?

Well, problem solved (mostly) by a lot of trial and error and it turns out be a problem of WF on the UDP ports must be open for Hello.  It was a bit of a surprise, because the Airfoil program (third party utility AirPlay) uses also Hello (that works).

The Windows Firewall has a rule entry of inbound traffic for Hello to port 5353 UDP.  Changing the rule to allow all Ports (UDP) does the job.  So I studied what UDP ports were actually necessary for the Hello and Airplay and amended the rule again, this time replacing all Ports with these specific UDP port numbers: 554 (1900), 5289 5298, 5350, 5351, 5353, 49159, 49163

However, that did not yet work so I ended up coming back to the all Ports configuration.

If someone uses the firewall native Windows (preferably Windows 7, but probably the same for 8 and 10), I would be interested to know what UDP ports allows your Windows Hello firewall.

Control Panel > Windows Firewall > advanced settings > inbound rules > Hello

I had certainly not changed firewall settings before this update to iTunes (and AirPlay worked just hours before) and know not why the update seems to have changed the Windows Firewall settings, but that helps to explain why the Windows 10 computer worked fine after the update, because she was using the McAfee Security Suite firewall.

    Thank you!

  • Optical Audio Jack on a Terminal Airport Express, which digital optical connector/adapter is necessary?

Optical Audio Jack on a pattern common Airport Express (model A1392, purchase of 2015) - digital optical connector/adapter is necessary?  My stereo has a TOS connector, but I'm not familiar with the analog/optical socket on the side of the airport.  What type of cable connector does?

It's called a mini-TOSlink. It has the same dimensions as a headphone jack 3.5 mm, but it is simply a small tube. You can buy adapters to the mini jack to the TOSlink Jack standard to stick on the end of a normal wire, or lead with a type at each end. Some equipped trails a couple of detachable adapters provided.

  • Are there 2 seconds audio delay with Apple TV as with Airport express

Audio reading of the Mac to stereo via Airport express has 2 second delay. If I replace the airport express to Apple TV and connect optical to HiFi audio link ATV still do 2 seconds?

    Welcome to the Apple community.

I have no such delay when I play audio via an Airport Express station. You must determine if the problem is with your network or device that you have connected to the AirPort Express Terminal. I don't know what other hardware you have for you for you help in this task.

  • Is it possible to use the AirPort Express to AirPlay only? (Wireless)

    Hello

I have a speaker and I would empower AirPlay for it. I have an old airport express here in my house and I wanted to plug my express from the airport to my wireless network and allow the airplay.

The only thing I don't want to not remove is the possibility to extend the wireless network, because I'm pretty sure it will do more bad then good, since I was a big of AC very close to the speaker wireless router. (http://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RT-AC5300)

Is it possible to use the Airport express only airplay? Without trying to extend my network?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards

    Tiago

Yes, if you have the main router near the speakers... then simply plug the Express into the enclosure of the ethernet... Run it in Bridge mode and turn off wireless... Then check if you can find it in iTunes etc to send the stream of airtime.

Or you can configure it to join a wireless network... it will not extend... Apple call it client mode.

  • E4200 restarts whenever I'm using AirPlay between 5 GHz mode to Airport Express MBP 2.4 GHz mode

I just confirmed that whenever I try to listen to music from my MacBook Pro (iTunes), which is connected to my wireless network using the 5 GHz mode (the channel width is Auto, channel: Auto (DFS)) to a couple Airport Express cubes are connected via the 2.4 GHz WiFi (channel width: Auto, channel: 10) the E4200 router restarts.  When I put the MBP for use the 2.4 GHz I can listen to music without causing the E4200 to restart.  The E4200 is the firmware 1.0.03 running.

Connect to the web interface of the router. Under "application and gaming tab", click the sub-tab "QoS" and deselect "support WMM.

  • There is Airfoil and Airport Express, latency/delay time?

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

But the audio output should be "real time." in other words, no delay or latency at all. Both are in the same room!

I use notation software (Sibelius) and need to hear what I write immediately. Unlike streaming where I think there is an acceptable delay (2 seconds?) for the buffering?

    Is this possible please?

If it isn't with AirFoil, any advice on how welcome :-)

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

With AirPlay (or Bluetooth), there will always be a form of delay or latency with streaming audio.

In this scenario, an audio stream (on AirPlay) will go first to your iMac to AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express Terminal.

To help understand why there will be delays, let's look at high-level "behind the scenes" about how works AirPlay:

For the AirPort Express (AX), audio input is provided mainly by iTunes. Of course, it can also get feedback from other sources as you know, as of Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.

For streaming, iTunes or wing does most of the work. What is app reads audio content standard (AAC, MP3, audio books, Internet music streams, etc., it decompresses these file formats and creates what is essentially a raw, uncompressed audio stream.) This stream is compressed using Lossless Compression of Apple (via a QuickTime codec), encrypted with AES 128 bits and then listened (airplay) with an AXE. The stream is buffered for about 2 seconds until the stream is sent. The AX deciphers the flow, decodes and exports in a digital or analog PCM (using a built-in DAC) flows to its audio analog-to-digital versatile optical port.

So, with the above, you can see that the tone does not simply move source to the destination without much more things. You will not be able to entirely eliminate the delay. Sorry!
