Airport utility cannot find Time Capsule

Airport utility can't find my Time Capsule.

I tried to reset (factory settings) several times and then reconfigure TC.

It works for 2 minutes; the led is green and the TC is visible in AU - but while time Machine is looking for the disc and the preparation of the backup, the disk disappears from the to THE and therefore cannot perform a backup.

Also, the light is still green after the TC disappears from the AU.

Could there be a problem with AU?
Or my TC is all just too old? -I do not know what generation it is, but it's at less than 4 years old, maybe 5.

I have a MacBook Pro running on El Capitan 2012.

I hope someone knows how to solve this problem

Could there be a problem with AU?

No, Airport utility is very good.

I have a MacBook Pro running on El Capitan 2012.

Network problem is common... and it's here... El Capo.

Or my TC is all just too old? -I do not know what generation it is, but it's at less than 4 years old, maybe 5.

Possibly in combo with this old CT... What model is the basis... A1xxx?

Or in Airport utility immediately after a reboot... Hold down the option key and double click on the symbol TC. It will open the summary page with the template at the top.

Have another go with the installation... See below.

But tell us what is your provision.

This modem you... brand / model?

What the TC set, bridge or router?

Is the computer connected by ethernet or wireless? Have you tried both?

Here are my suggestions...

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

The installer the TC.

And then redo the configuration of the computer with the Mavericks - Yosemite - ElCapo. (MYELCAP)

1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the problem is using wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as it also seems to help stop the nonsense. But it can be tried in the second round. IE, plan on a first and second series of changes to fix this... If all goes well... I note other steps can you tour2.

2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC. But it's important for deriving from intellectual property in all directions when MYELCAP do not remember his name for 5 min after a reboot done for poor network management.

4. check that your share on the computer name does not change... Make sure that it is also in line with the above... short without space and pure alphanumeric... but this change will mess up your TM backup... so be prepared to make a new, full backup. Sorry... keep this one for the second round, if you want to avoid a new backup.

5 attach the TC disc into the computer manually.

In Finder, go, connect to the server in the main menu,

Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever ip of TC is that you made static. It's a default router 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with it unless you know what you're doing).

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

It is a lot more jiggery pokery, you can try, but the above is a good start... If you still find not reliable... don't be surprised.

You may need to do more work on the computer itself. for example, to reset the NVRAM/PRAM/SMC... helped some people. A clean installation of the operating system is also useful if you update installed.

  • Airport utility does not Time Capsule

I recently bought a 2 TB TimeCapsule airport.  The ethernet cable from the router is plugged into the WAN connector and the power is on the Time Capsule device.  I can access internet via WiFi labeled Apple 686555 network device, but the Airport utility cannot locate the TimeCapsule which is 10 feet.  He sees the Apple 686555 network device, but not to join the airport Time Capsule.  The error is very descriptive: "an unexpected error has occurred.  Try again. "Very revealing.  Don't know what to do.  iMac running OS x 10.10 and 6.3.4 airport

    Thoughts?

The "unexpected error" is caused by a bug in Yosemite.

Try powering down of the time Capsule by pulling the power cord to the back of the unit or by unplugging the power cord from the wall AC

    Restart the Mac.

After that the Mac was for a minute or two, switch on the time Capsule and let it run for a minute

    Then try the installation again

  • Time capsule works bur airport utility cannot find it

    Hello world

I have a weird problem with my Time Capsule (2 TB) 2015

I have the TC connected by ethernet to a modem, and it is plugged into my mac mini (cable as well)

The TC works very well, it is accessible from the Finder, Time Machine works fine and all my devices can browse the internet via the TC wifi network.

Airport utility, that the TC is shown as connected with a green dot, however when I try to access the settings of TC, that the system requires a password and when I entered it nothing happens. If I click on the TC once again, I get a requirement pw again. Once I do this once or twice, the TC greys out on airport utility and I get the message "device not found" with the yellow triangle.

Despite this, the TC is always accessible from the Finder, the wifi works and Time machine is ok.

Tries to access the site of the iPad or the iPhone displays the same behavior, the utility will continue to ask for a password and it won't let me.

I did a reset of the TC by pressing the reset button and it worked fine for 24 hours, after which the above problem happened again.

So I did another reset and even once, he worked for a while, but now I'm at square one.

Is that what is anyone able to help?

    Thank you

    ALE

AirPort Utility is based on both the mDNS (aka, Hello) and IPv6 IP protocols to find an AirPort base station.

When access to the airport through the AirPort Utility, try the following, in order, accessibility with the utility check after each step:

    • Check the local connection. If you try to access the airport wireless, make sure that you are connected to its wireless network before running the AirPort Utility to administer it. If you are still unable to access it with the utility, temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to one of the base station's LAN ports.
    • Make sure that the base station and your computer are configured for IPv6 link-local only.
      • For a Mac: System preferences > network > Wi - Fi or Ethernet > advanced > TCP/IP tab > configure IPv6: link-local only
      • For the AirPort Base Station:
        • From a Mac: AirPort Utility > select the base station > change > Internet tab > Internet Options... > configure IPv6: link-local only
        • Since an iOS device: AirPort Utility > tap the base station > press Edit > tap Advanced > tap on IPv6 > change configure IPv6 to: link-local only > Tap actually
    • The base station power cycle. Remove the power branch of the socket adapter and then wait 15 seconds before plugging back in.
    • Perform a ' default ' reset on the base station.
  • Airport utility cannot find the time Capsule, but wireless is fine

All of a sudden my TC stopped taking backups but the wireless works fine.

Airport utility stopped recognizing the TC suddenly...

I think it started acting weird it's because last night, I unplugged the TC of the socket directly instead of turn off... This could be the problem.

This is what, in my view, that the solution could be:

    (1) reboot Macbook

    (2) open Airport utility

    File 3)--> set up

    (4) now he would invite, address and password: especially it would be 10.0.0.1, but you get to the option + wifi

    (5) then just tweak a setting so that the update button is highlighted...

    6) click on update & the router restarts

    (7) Viola you should now see the airport in airport utility.

I hope this helps. I tried to put that answer in another thread, but the forum has been locked for discussion... That's why this new post

    Bumblebee

It is not so rosy, as you described!

I can write in folders on Time Capsule, I use internet, but the utility does not see the drives, printer and Time Machine is no more support for MacBook...

The only reason for this behavior is dynamic DNS change the LAN iP addresses... after the router has been reset by the network provider.

    Any advice, please?

  • Airport utility sees my Time Capsule wireless but can't seem to connect to it or to join.

I recently moved and my new place I had divided the time to be wired into my Mac Mini Capsule.  Unfortunately, my modem and the time Capsule should be in the living room and my Mini Mac in another room (office).  I tried to connect or to participate in the TC with nothing doesn't.  I have reset the TC, restarted the MM and nothing.  Airport utility see the TC, but can't join her.  Any form of guidelines and suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.  DannyOkie.

If you reset the Time Capsule (TC) properly holding the reset for 7-8 seconds button, releasing one allowing a full minute of the CT to restart... and... "or have a connection by Ethernet cable from your modem to the WAN" O "port on the TC... then the AirPort Utility will not 'see' the TC again until you put up again.

To do this, you click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen of the Mac and are looking for a list of the new AirPort base station. Just below this list, you would click on Time Capsule to get the 'Assistant' Installation running.  The example below shows an AirPort Extreme as the new device, but you will see Time Capsule on your screen.

When the configuration "Wizard" opens, it will take a few seconds to scan the network and then propose the correct configuration for you, with a screen similar to the one you see below appearing.

Click next to start the process, and then follow the guests to name your wireless network name the TC, set up passwords. Once you have updated TC up and running, AirPort Utility will display the CT if you need to make changes to the settings.

  • Airport utility cannot find Airport extreme

Using vs 6.3.6 on my Mac Pro. Whenever I run the utility it is something different, but there is always at least one of my extremes that will not be detected. Usually, none are detected the first time I run the utility. If I'm lucky I can restart the utility time 3 or 4 and is ultimately connected to the extreme, I need to access. Sometimes I have to reboot the extreme to access even if it displays a green light. This problem also occurs with the current version of the iOS of the utility and when you try to configure the extreme of OS X Server. Server loses its connection to the extreme router and keep telling me that I used the wrong password.

Found some old validation recommended setting up IPv6 on my Mac Pro local linc, appears not to have any effect.

Most users will have more luck if IPv6 on airports parameters are defined for Local link only... unless your ISP provided you with IPv6 specific parameters to use for their service and you have verified that your devices are actually IPv6 addresses.

Affecting airports Local link may be worth a try if you have not already done this. No guarantee, that the "disappearing airport" bug has been around since version 6.x of AirPort Utility was introduced more than 3 years ago.  Strangely, it seems to be creeping to the right these days.

  • The Airport 5.6.1 (10 Windows) utility cannot find Airport Extreme Base Station

I have the Airport Extreme Base Station (model A1408) model.

I'm under Apple Airport Utility 5.6.1 on Windows 10.

    10 Windows Firewall is disabled.

All of my WiFi devices, including my Windows laptop, 10, all work fine on the wireless network, and the light on the base station is green.

Life seems good... EXCEPT, when I run the utility Apple Airport (version 5.6.1) it says it's "impossible to find wireless Airport". Clicking on Rescan is fixed not. Power by bicycle to the base station doesn't fix it. It worked before, so this is the behavior seems to be somewhat intermittent. Lately, it doesn't quite work. So I can't reconfigure my base station.

Is this a known issue? Y at - it a known solution?

First of all, understand that the AirPort for Windows utility has not been updated since Windows 7. It 'works' on later versions of Windows, including Windows 10, but is not designed to work with the new 802.11ac base stations.

We'll see if this utility is installed correctly on your computer.

For Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, AirPort for Windows utility will work have two applications listed in the window Apps & features: 1) airport & 2) Hello.

    • Move or delete the file next to the C:\Windows\System32 folder: c:\windows\system32\dnssd.dll (Note: this is the Client Hello library and is required by the utility AirPort.) If this file is missing would be the main reason that you aren't able to find the base station. However, even if it is present, it cannot be properly registered in the Windows registry. In other words, Windows is concerned, there is no.)
    • Download AirPort for Windows install.
    • Run the Setup program by using privileges "Run as administrator". (Note: If you have the option to repair or uninstall, choose the option to uninstall.) To complete the uninstall process. The Hello application should now be missing in Apps & features list.)
    • If you do not dialogue to repair/Uninstall window, then let Setup install AirPort for Windows in its default folder.

Then, make sure your computer cable or wireless network adapter is configured for IPv6.

Now, try to access the base station with the utility again.

  • Can't find Time Capsule/not available

    Greetings,

I've had my Time Capsule a few years. A few days ago, I noticed my Mac was market back is no longer. The TC does not appear in the Finder or AP Utility (I have to go "Set up another" connect at all). I tried to reset it, but it worked correctly for a few hours.

    Any help?

The are many post related to this here to the communities to Support Apple (CSA)

A 'solution' refers to those who have set up their base stations for Back to My Mac. If you did, how to follow recommended action is temporarily remove or disable this option, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
      • Note: You may need to use the option "configure others...". "to access the base station. Enter the IP address of the base station, the default value is: 10.0.1.1 and base station administrator password when you are prompted.
    • On the tab of the Base Station, go back to the section of my Mac at the bottom of the window.
    • If you have entries here, select it and click then the minus sign "-" button to remove it.
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.
  • How do I properly fill my Airport Extreme to my Time Capsule?

I'm trying to set up an Airport Extreme as a bridge to my Time Capsule via ethernet, so I can extend the range of my network. However, when I followed: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204616 I didn't see an option to "Share a public IP address" because the step by step seems to be older than my current Airport utility. How can ensure me that the setting applies?

In the new version of airport utility, the installation program should be close automatic.

Simply plug the new extreme in the TC with an ethernet cable... Extreme WAN LAN TC.

Then run through the airport utility Setup Wizard.

Use your own names... No, apple has recommended... I strongly suggest using short names... < 10 characters not alphanumeric pure spaces.

It should then come with extend wired (ethernet).

In case of failure we can do it manually... It is simple to install.

Share a public IP address is not relevant because it is managed by the TC in any case.

The extreme is dhcp on the Internet tab.

Create a wireless network in the wireless tab.

And the bridge on the network tab.

  • Airport Extreme to extend Time Capsule Gen1

I just bought an Airport Extreme and wonder if I set up correctly to maximize my wireless speed.

    1 Internet provider router

2 Time Capsule Gen - 2 to - 2 802.11n (NETWORK WITHOUT WIRE ORIGINAL "MAX")

    3 airport Extreme (NEW) - 802.11ac 'MAX-EXTREME.

Wired router ISP, connects to Time Capsule (MAX)

Wired router ISP, connect to Airport Extreme

During the installation of MAX-EXTREME, I opted for 'extend' by using MAX-EXTREME MAX. While "MAX" is broadcast in my house. What is the optimal configuration?

Let me know if I should reconfigure the network.

I want to just make sure I am maximizing my wireless speed and range.

    Thank you!

You cannot extend when you link Ethernet... you created a loop of large networks.

Router ISP... Ethernet... Max-Extreme... Ethernet... SCI

In this configuration, the TC is configured in bridge... and creates a... wireless network you can use the same name and the same Max-Extreme security... This is called roaming network. Never use measurement when you plug ethernet to a router.

    OR

Router ISP... Ethernet... Max-Extreme... wireless. SCI

In this configuration, TC is set to expand wireless Max-Extreme... no wired connection.

The first configuration is far superior. And apple recommends to install more wireless roaming range.

My Officejet Pro 8600 is connected to my wireless network, has obtained an IP address.

However, I cannot find the printer in the HP utility and cannot connect, even if I try to manually enter the IP address.

It works fine on the wireless network, recently, he stopped. (I print not that often, so I don't know what changes occurred sinnce the last time I printed)

I deleted all of the HP software and drivers, downlaoded the latest version and re-installed them.

I reset the network connection on the printer.

Operating system is OS X 10.10.5, everything up to date.

    Printer by USB works fine.

    Hello

Try to reboot your router by unplugging its power for a while and wait a minute or two.

Then restart the printer and your Mac and try to print.

If it persists, has what distance is the printer of your router?

You see the blue light on wireless?

By pressing the icon on the printer wireless, can you access the IP address listed from your Mac?

  • AirPort utility cannot connect

I have an Airport Extreme base station which is about a year.  I have several devices connected to the internet via laptop from Samsung, I type this question with this router.  If I run AirPort (windows) v5.6.1 utility he finds the base station (says it's the 7.7.3 version if it's helpful).  When I select 'continue' to try to change the settings, it says it is reading from the device and then gives an error message "an error has occurred while trying to access the device wireless to Apple."  Make sure your network connection is valid and try again. "There are a number of error 10057.  Notable, that he never asks the device password.

Also, I tried to use the utility AirPort 6.3.2 MacBook Pro from my wife.  With this device, I tried to connect via ethernet cable and wireless.  He sees not the device--even if it is not connected to the internet.

I rebooted the computer and the router, and the behavior does not change.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

You must reset the Airport Extreme.

Someone might have the installation program the device to lock... changes accidentally even.

I recommend you first do a soft reset.

Press the reset for just 1-2 sec... button the front led will flash amber... This allows you to 5 min of access without security and change all passwords at the factory. That is to say the password main AE will return to the public.

See if you can access it for 5 min, then make the changes you need.

Otherwise you need a full factory reset.

The danger with that is you lose your internet connection and then can't get it back.

    Universal factory reset

Powering down of EI...

I'm a little surprised that you can't access the extreme via the Mac well.

  • 1102w does not connect correctly to the Airport Extreme Base station (Time Capsule) (wireless)

& #3; I've been troubleshooting all day on this problem for my parents, trying to set up printing wireless for them on their new HP 1102W. I am trying to connect the printer wireless to their Airport Time Capsule base station. Using the WPS configuration, the printer is recognized by the base station, but I'm still not able to print wirelessly or via airprint. Enter the web configuration via USB, I see that the printer is grateful the network, but it doesn't have an IP address (it is set to auto/DHCP). Later I tried to connect to a shared of my iphone, wifi connection and everything worked perfectly, so the problem is that somehow the printer will not connect properly to the Airport base station. I tried several resets and restarts the printer and the base station, and the printer and the base of the station has new firmware. I also tried to change the security on the terminal of the default wpa2 personal wireless with wpa/wpa2 personal.

I'd appreciate comments on this issue because I am quite frustrated now :-)

Using the tool of the airport, I logged on to the base station and changed the wifi settings, while 2.4 and 5 ghz networks have different names instead of identical names standard. That did the trick, eventually I just configured the printer using wps in a few minutes.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Time Capsule airport 10057 error: computer recognizes airport exists but cannot connect

Hello everyone. I am currently unable to access the NAC on my Time Capsule Airport (not HQ one), as my password seems incorrect. However, this issue of mix, I am unable to connect using AirPort Utility at the Time Capsule airport in order to use a "soft reset". I can't push the button, but after that, it is impossible to actually access the settings from the airport using the utility.

I'm on Windows 8, using the AirPort Utility for Windows 8.

    I tried the following:

    • every possible permutation of IPv4/6
    • a_l'_aide_de CTRL + SHIFT + O, and then perform one) I don't have the password and b) if I type in gibberish it gives me another error (-6753)
    • disconnect, reconnect, reboot, etc, etc.

    Just to be clear:

    • I know that the WIFI password
    • I know the old password to the NAC
    • I do not know how to change the password of the NAC
    • My shift caps lock is not on

After a soft reset of the password is public... What have you tried?

There is no password on the wireless for 5 minutes during the soft reset.

In any case to fix... doing a factory reset full. No files are lost in the process.

Make sure you use ethernet to connect to the TC, not wireless. It tends to work better that windows wireless Gets a bit NARKY...

If you don't know what that means NARKY... and I don't know what means NAC.
